Romantic Wedding Under the Oklahoma Sky

Romantic Wedding Under the Oklahoma Sky

What do you get when you have a couple so enamored with one another and a bride with a seriously gorgeous vision for her wedding? A whimsical fête with such elegance.  Jessica Elle Photography captured the result of Chelsea and Zachary’s Oklahoma wedding, featuring the designs of Aisle Be With You, who worked closely with Chelsea on her dream wedding plans and all of the unique customization. The photos also feature the floral work of Poppy Lane Design and the creations just paired so well with the feel of the day with roses, ranunculus, and peonies doing what they do best: causing us all to swoon with delight!

From the bride, Chelsea: It started with a dance. We met dancing, and were often caught dancing our way through the grocery store. There has even been instances where someone has giggled then come up to us to tell us how cute we are or that our dancing together is darling. When we’re at home making breakfast or dinner, we will turn on the music and just dance. It’s our thing; we dance because it takes us back to when we first met.

Zachary and I moved to Mustang within a year apart and our parents’ homes were only about four miles away from each other and we went to the same high school. We still didn’t meet until after we both had graduated from high school. We ended up meeting through mutual friends and totally unlike me, I made the first move and messaged him over Facebook! We made plans to go out dancing and for each of us to bring a group of our friends. The day before we were supposed to go out, he texted me to tell me his friends bailed and my heart sank. He followed up his text saying that he guessed my group of friends would just have to be his for the night! After that night, we saw each other every day for eight short days and then we decided to make it official on July 9th.

Four years later Zachary proposed and it came out of nowhere. I was feeling ill that day and although I didn’t want to continue our plans for game night that night, Zachary insisted. Little did I know that during the game of “Life” he would actually land on the “stop and get married” section and pull out a ring to propose to me! With all of my allergies going on, the one night I really needed them, I decided to leave my contacts out. When he pulled the ring out of his pocket, I couldn’t see it and I thought he was joking! I was so shocked when he actually asked me that all I could get out was “really”, “really”, “is this real”? I was in such shock that it didn’t set in until he put the ring on my finger and I realized that we had planned my trip to go out to Arizona to see my family perfectly around the engagement.

We chose to forego fall colors because our wedding venue’s natural foliage didn’t turn until mid-November so we went with a soft, romantic, and modern-rustic feel. We incorporated blush and ivory roses, ranunculus, and peonies into my organic styled bouquet. We used muted pink for our chiffon runners and chiffon ceremony backdrop. I let my bridesmaids choose their own dresses as long as they were blush or gold. I knew I wanted a very detailed wedding so our planner helped us incorporate several rose gold and gold elements into our details such as our chargers, flatware, and place cards. We had custom stationery for our invitation suites and our floral envelope liners were hand-drawn just for us. We also used layers of mirrored rose gold from the place we ordered from. We incorporated our hand-drawn florals into our wedding signs, our napkins, and our main cake and we used our guests’ menu cards that had paint strokes in gold on them for inspiration for one of our accents cake which we also used paint strokes on.

Our dessert bar was just gorgeous. Our main cake was two-tiers of vanilla cake and our two single-tiered accent cakes were both chocolate with chocolate ganache. They were hand painted, had gold flecks, chocolate drip, and accented with yummy macaroons. We also had fresh apple, peach, and roasted pecan pies with decorated crusts.

One of my favorite details of our wedding was our acrylic menus and signs. We cut them and made the stands ourselves. For the menu signs, we wanted to come up with a creative way to tie in “Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, and Something Blue.” Our planner and I came up with menu subcategories that were “Something Refreshing, Something Savory, Something Sweet” to coordinate with it.

Just two months after Zach and I got engaged my dad passed away from a sudden sickness, so my very special mom walked my down the aisle. It’s sweet because my mom has always supported me in everything I do and when Zachary became a part of my life, she always supported him too. It was an honor to get this wonderful woman to walk me down the aisle and to give me away. Zachary met us at the bridge to take me from there and we both smiled with tears running down our faces. It melted my heart seeing him be so happy. Early on, Zachary and I decided to serve each other by washing each other’s feet during the ceremony. We also used our new Ricks family bible in the ceremony which also doubled as our guestbook. Everything was perfect. From the venue, our food, our vows, walking down the aisle, and our last private dance before the sparkler exit. It started with a dance and we will continue to dance through life together.
