Los Angeles Foodie Wedding

How could a wedding between two restaurant owners not be good? Steve and Shanti’s LA wedding, photographed by Christina Lilly Photography, is full of wildflowers, a carefree bohemian attitude, and of course, all the good food you could hope to eat. Where else would such a beautiful wedding feel at home but SmogShoppe?

From the photographer, Christina Lilly Photography: The couple are restaurant owners and have a love for food and community. Steve is from upstate NY and comes from a family or artists and innovators. Shanti is from Southern California and comes from a family of hippies and her name basically sums her up, Shanti Star Church. They decided to bring their wedding to California where all of Shanti’s family and friends could add their touch to the wedding. The couple is passionate about incorporating surrounding artisans and they do the same in their restaurant back home.

Food was major for these two. You can see each table was labeled with hand painted favorite foods. They also wanted to keep things personal with Shanti’s bohemian flair and decided on the Smog Shoppe in LA because of it’s 70’s industrial look. They held their rehearsal dinner at Lombardi House in Hollywood. It is designed by one of my favorite interior designers, and the decor added the perfect back drop for the couple as they prepped. These two have an old world charm to them, and all the details translate back to someone that is dear to their hearts. It is nice to see weddings come together in this way.

Wedding Music:
We had such a great mix during the whole day and night. We sent our DJ, who happened to be a good friend, a few songs and he created the most perfect playlist for every part of the event. It had a lot of 90’s music, indie, some funk, motown, pop and rock.
Processional: “The Book of Love,” Magnetic Fields
Bride’s Processional: My dad walked me down the aisle to one of his old bandmates playing “Chocolate on my Tongue” by the Wood Brothers on his guitar.
First Dance: “California Stars,” Billy Bragg and Wilco
Father/Daughter Dance: “God Only Knows,” The Beach Boys
Mother/Son Dance: “Have I Told You Lately That I Love You,” Rod Stewart
