Floral Historic Cedarwood Wedding

Nothing quite perks up my day like a bride whose smile is so radiant that you can feel the warmth through her photographs. Meghan and David married at Tennessee’s Historic Cedarwood, a favorite for couples wanting a touch of rustic and natural beauty shining through on their wedding day. Firm Anchor was able to capture all the beauty, so let’s get started:

From the bride, Meghan: I loved the style of the venue, and the feel of the outside field wedding and reception. I envisions a rustic chic wedding 🙂 Neither David nor I are very formal, so the ambiance of the decor, lighting, and elegant softness fit our personalities perfectly. I love David in suspenders and a bow tie, which the guests were encouraged to wear. I love ivory, pale, yellow and gray accents. We wanted to honor God, and also host a great event for our family and guests. David I loved the “flow” of the event, in that we were able to use the entire property of Cedarwood at different points throughout the night.

Our theme was rustic chic. We encouraged guest to dress “breezy” and suspenders and bow ties were encouraged. Our own theme was The Best Day Ever, which it totally was. From “Oh happy day” cocktail napkins, the cloths line with pictures of us and words “We’ve decided on forever”, to the candy bar featuring the phrase “life is sweeter with you in it.” We wanted our wedding to be personalized for David and I, and also for our guests to have a great time! One of David’s ushers hand crafted us two sets of corn hole boards, which were set up at the cocktail hour and during the dancing part of the reception, so fun! Our colors were ivory, pale yellow, and light gray- which fit the venue perfectly. The flowers only enhanced our feel with beautiful arrangements from the bouquets to the mason jars on shepherds hooks at the ceremony. The flowers were incredible! We also loved the mason jar candles hanging from the trees. I work part time at Anthropologie – so I definitely wanted an “Antho feel” as well which was pulled off wonderfully, especially with our dinner farm table decor and arrangements. Adjectives I would use to describe the look of our special day would be rustic, chic, an amazingly great time, exciting, and of course, the best day ever.

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? While planning a wedding can be at times stressful, I think knowing styles you like in dresses, decor, food, venue, cake, etc. before hand can help so much when you start to look. Looking at blogs, style guides, pinterest, and magazines helped me develop a taste for a wedding. I would also say, that planning a wedding can quickly take up a large portion of your time and thoughts. David and I tried to have at least one date night a week during the engagement where we didn’t talk about the wedding planning at all, and I really think this helped us stay sane 🙂
