Dutch Still Life Wedding Inspiration

Photographer Sarah Kriner Photography describes this shoot as a “magical day,” and we only had to take one glimpse at these images before we believed her too. Sarah, along with a team of Aisle Ready Events and Isibeal Studios, imagined a shoot inspired by Dutch still life paintings with an opulent + rich color palette, which they topped off exquisitely with two incredible cakes from The Topping Couture Cakes.

From the photographer, Sarah Kriner Photography: This shoot was inspired by the opulence and beauty of still lifes in the Dutch Golden age of painting. Their contrasting light and the overwhelming richness of color, with details so vibrant you feel like you could walk into them, has always inspired me as a photographer and is something I strive for in my own photos. Creating a shoot around this has been a daydream of mine for a while, and the combination of watching talented people come together to make it happen and the hoped-for blanket of snow made it a magical day.

I chose Laurel Hall for its centuries old feel and the rich dark wood walls contrasting the window light, which makes it feel so much like a painting come to life. We chose deep tones and natural greenery for a lot of our details, contrasting them with the light tones and ethereal light of the solarium. Autumn Keller (Isibeal Studios) brought her own artistry to the theme, using deft blue and draped velvets to create our reception and “feasting” tables.
