Bordeaux Beach Wedding Inspiration

Nobody does effortless chic quite like the French and the idea of eloping on the coast of Bordeaux is a perfect example. Photographers Steph and Robin bubblerock dreamed up of this beach elopement along with Quelque Chose de bleu and Fleurs de Mars with oodles of candlelight and wildflowers.

From bubblerock: When we decided to put together an inspiration shoot, our first thought was to steer away from the boho/rustic theme that we see so much around. In fact, we wanted to have a modern and elegant wedding inspiration within a very natural setting, creating a contrast between the look and feel of the wedding and the stunning raw environment. Based around the idea of a destination wedding/elopement, we created a cozy, romantic and earthy scene on the shores of the French Atlantic coast with a very classy feel.

The natural and “raw” feel was achieved by using simple materials like wood, wool, leather, cotton… and the elegance contrast was in the style of hair and make up, the simple black and white stationery, the two-piece dress (created specially for the shoot), and the choice of table setting.

Vero from Quelque Chose de Bleu went for black and white, greys and blush pink hues to give the whole scene a modern and classy look, which worked perfectly with the sunset light at the end of the day. She created spaces from the cozy bed as a sitting area, the convivial table setting with a large wooden table and its gorgeous flower garland for centerpiece by Fleurs de Mars, the “water” bar – perfect for a hot summer’s day, and the sunset, candle-lit ceremony overlooking the ocean. Most of the furniture and decor are from a rental place near Bordeaux: Souchon.

Gigi and Eric just got married and were the perfect couple for this shoot. Their love for each other made for gorgeous looks and genuine images. Beautified by Johan Yvon, Gigi looked amazing in her dress by Louise Dentelle; a two-piece dress created for the shoot: a separate tulle and lace top featuring a low back and two skirts so the bride can choose the long elegant flowing skirt with a high-fashion split and then change into a short lace piece for the reception. The low back was the perfect excuse to have a headband/back necklace designed for the shoot as well… This creation by So Helo worked perfectly and added to the gracious elegance of the bride but with a little modern and unique touch of a headband/necklace in one. Anthony created two gorgeous hair style for Gigi: a romantic one and more high-fashion one for the party.

Eric wore a tie and bow ties handcrafted by Ikoniz A Boy so he too could choose between an elegant and quirky look. One extra bow tie in the same style of Eric’s tie was also a part of the “Adventurer’s kit” in other words the guest “out-of-town” bag/favour. The girls were lucky to have a bracelet in the same style as Gigi’s headband.

The stationery by Steph Kunau followed the idea of an elegant and clean feel: hand drawn and handmade – it is uniquely made for the couple. The theme of “adventure is calling” and “time stood still” really came across from the get go.
Everything turned out better than we had hoped for: the weather was perfect, everyone’s work was what we had envisaged and more. This all made carrying the large solid wood table across the dunes for half a mile totally worth it. We had sore muscles by the end of it but nothing a little glass of celebratory champagne and lots of amazing memories cannot mend.

  • This is a beautiful shoot. I think my favorite parts are the smalls details like her veil chain that hangs down her back or the Robin’s Egg Blue china…it’s all perfect.

  • What a beautiful and special day for both of you! I absolutely love the style of the wedding that you chose. I wish that I had enough creativity in me to be able to think of these unique and beautiful ideas. In some aspects I wish I would be more brave and step away from the traditional church wedding and do something neat like this.

  • What a beautiful wedding!
