Black Tie Wedding Inspiration with a Show-stopping Nod to Adele
Today’s edgy black tie wedding inspiration brings new definition to the word fierce. This fab team of Texas wedding pros dreamed up a design for a not-so-conventional aesthetic, marrying greenery with metallics and modern trends with Southern tradition. We audibly gasped at first sight of that moody yet glamorous table and got a little carried away when we saw our queen, Adele’s lyrics dancing across the ceremony aisle. Chock full of texture and originality, get ready to be blown away by these images from Melanie Julian Photography.
From the stylist, Chancey Charm Dallas: In the wedding industry it can be all too easy to get caught up in all things light, airy and downright dreamy. But not every bride is dreaming in pastels. With this shoot, we wanted to go for urban southern glamour by mixing the textures of brick, leather, velvet and lace with the glamour of a black tie southern affair. Hints of metallic details can be found throughout the design which really steps the formality level up. Melanie Julian, our amazingly talented photographer for this shoot, captured each and every element so perfectly. We wanted this look to be something achievable for brides who are somewhere in between moody, dark colors and glamorous ballroom affairs. So many designs and inspirations can easily and affordably be recreated.
We wanted to really step outside the box for the ceremony setting and had Kelly Hager of Polished Pen Calligraphy hand letter the lyrics to “Make You Feel My Love” in chalk down the aisle. This was such a stunning element yet so simple to recreate for brides looking for a wow moment. The florals from Vella Nest Floral Design completed the sharp contrasts of black, white and deep greens with the warm tones of leather, soft velvets and lace. The metallic details in the floral designs almost make the branches and leaves look like fine jewelry. For brides not a fan of lush blooms, this is a super cool and unique way to add some glamour.
For the bride and groom’s looks we wanted old Hollywood class in an updated and urban way. The sexy, sheer lace dress from Sarah Seven via Lovely Bride Salon in Dallas was perfect for a modern, Southern woman. Lip Service Makeup gave her a little edge with a dramatic, dark lip and black earrings to compliment those glamorous waves. Her groom was styled in a black velvet jacket with all the classic details. We merged the idea of a boutonniere and a pocket square together to create his unique accessory that has some great art deco vibes.
I’m a planner that’s all about event branding and what southern girl doesn’t love slapping her monogram on everything? So, with the help of Lane Love Paper Company, we created a unique monogram for the couple and added the element everywhere from the invitation suite to the custom beer labels to a living greenery monogram on the wall above the reception table inspiration.
For the reception we wanted to really mix all of those textures together. The divine velvet linens from BBJ Linens served as a perfect backdrop for the gala place settings from POSH Couture Rentals. The gold and browns brought that southern comfort into a grand and glamorous look. We truly felt like this could be a stunning New Years Eve party in Nashville with how all the elements played so harmoniously together. We used a lot of similar elements in the lounge setting. The ladies of Bleu Luxury Rentals truly nailed the southern urban glam concept. The space was so cozy and inviting but still had sleek modern elements. Plus, a bar cart with delicious cocktails from HD Liquid Catering never hurt nobody! Most planners would shy away from a glam cowhide rug in any decor but that piece was truly the pièce de résistance! This is Texas after all!
The only venue that we could really pull this all together so fabulously was the amazing Brake & Clutch Warehouse in the heart of the quirky Deep Ellum neighborhood in Dallas, Texas. The former brake shop (hence the name) boasts so many amazing painted and raw brick walls, iodized metal barn doors, and black accents. The color palette of the shoot was taken literally from the walls and grounds of this venue. Such a special place that truly glows from within from sunrise to sunset.
