Cinco de Mayo Wedding
We’re so excited to feature this Cinco de Mayo wedding sent to us by The Goodness, who served as not only the photographers but also designed all of the wedding invitations and paper goods for Lizeth and Luis’ wedding day! True to Cinco de Mayo tradition, their day is full of color and delicious treats for their guests, including a show-stopping wedding cake from Just Cakin’ It.
From the bride, Lizeth: The day of our wedding I felt calm and at peace, I have always been confident Luis and I were meant to be, I was content and relieved the time to celebrate our love was finally here. I couldn’t help but feel pleasantly overwhelmed at how many of our friends and family were present to help us celebrate our special day.
Luis and I have always been proud our culture and celebrate it every chance we get, so we chose our date accordingly Cinco de Mayo, 2012. We wanted to highlight many of our cultures contributions which included: tequila, tacos, beer, jarritos, aguas frescas, sweet bread, buñuelos, candy, paper flowers, piñatas and finally lots of color.
My favorite moment was our first look, it allowed us to spend some quality time with each other and we were able to take in and appreciate our special day… I have to thank Lisa and Geoff for suggesting we have this moment!
Any advice for future brides planning their weddings now? Make your fiancé take charge of some of the planning and give him deadlines. Luis was in charge of venue, food, and music/entertainment. I wish I would have given him deadlines! Delegate work to friends and family and be open to their ideas. My mother made all the paper flowers she also came up with the idea of adding paper flowers to the burlap fabric; it turned out to be a great back drop to the candy and cake table. Hit up the wedding blogs! I was obsessed with Ruffled, I knew I was going to do much of the decorations myself and used this blog to provide inspiration and DIY tutorials.
