Fair Oaks Seersucker Wedding

This California wedding shot by Sarah Maren just happens to have our favorite summery motif: seersucker! From the groomsmen to the invitations to the table settings, there are subtle pops of the blue-and-white-striped pattern everywhere, and we’re just loving it. Planned to the nines by Kate Miller Events, who married this Southern classic with California laid back chic perfectly – thank you for sharing!

From the bride, Meredith: We envisioned a whimsical farm wedding with a vintage feel. We wanted lots of different flowers and a clear top tent to set our wedding apart. The guys also wanted to do seersucker suits for something different, and we planned the decor around that.

From the photographer, Sarah: When Meredith and Jeff decided to have their backyard wedding at Jeff’s Parents house, the first thing they booked was a clear top tent. They wanted to have a romantic, beautiful wedding with a few fun twists. To pay homage to the groom’s love of seersucker suits, not only did we have the groomsmen don the same attire, but we also reflected the unique pattern on the stationery, the napkins, accented on vases and wrapped around the bouquets and boutonnieres. To contrast with the pattern with a pop of color, we added creamy yellow blossoms like ranunculus, crespedia and fluffy garden roses and paired them with textural succulents. The palette of Navy, Yellow, and Aqua was anchored by Slate Grey in the table linens and bridesmaid dresses. During the front yard ceremony, the wedding party ‘hopped’ over the flowers as they stood in position – and the format reflected the unique backgrounds of the Bride and Groom, as both were attorneys. Guests were ‘sworn in’ at the beginning of the ceremony and it was lead by a family friend who also happened to be a judge. After a few tears and the big dip in the kiss, the guests headed to the backyard to enjoy the reception under the stars. The wedding party were announced in to a faux ‘double dutch’ demonstration, after which guests enjoyed a delectable family-style dinner, yummy mini cupcakes, fantastic cake pops, Wally Water (a beloved family signature beverage) and LOTS of dancing!
