Autumn Wedding with Navy Blue Hues on Lake Tahoe

tiered cake with handmade tree details paired with real florals

Carolyn & Matt got married on Lake Tahoe where they had their first date and fell in love. How precious is that? Sunnyside Tahoe set the perfect backdrop for their fall wedding where they incorporated blue hues like the color of the lake throughout their wedding including the bride’s heels and the leather-bound menu books. Rodeo and Co was there to capture this al fresco cozy wedding on Lake Tahoe that was pure autumn magic.

From the bride, Carolyn: Matt and I are both East Coast natives who met in California. Having spent our childhood summers and winters in the northern states of New England, we were naturally drawn to the Sierra Nevada Mountains. This West Shore of Lake Tahoe was home to our first date, where we fell in love, and where we spend almost every weekend in the Winter. Having the opportunity to bring all the things we love together in one space – friends, family, Tahoe, and each other – was immensely meaningful to us.

Sunnyside was a favorite of ours from early on and felt like a natural fit for our wedding ceremony and reception. Kate Dawson Events (a New England based gal like us!) brought to life the event we were dreaming of. We got married on the deck overlooking the lake – my brother officiated and Ike & Martin played guitar and mandolin covers of Led Zeppelin for the ceremony. Guests were then treated to cocktails on the lake before we went inside to enjoy a family style dinner.

We wanted to the blue of the lake to really shine throughout the design process as well as incorporate some of the warm fall tones. We partnered with Ink Revival to create an invitation suite that let the colors, mountains and texture shine. Her designs carried through to the welcome bags and all the day of paper magic!

Velvet la tavola linens, mahogany flatware from borrowed blu and leather bound menu books completed the look! Natasha Kolenko created the most beautiful flowers and they perfectly accentuated the natural beauty of the area. Plus my bouquet was out of this world!

We danced the night away in a clear tent under the stars! But not before We cut the cake with a Civil War saber that belongs to Matt’s Grandfather. Matt’s parents cut their wedding cake with the saber and it’s a family heirloom that we will pass onto our children.

My favorite moments however were the first look among the trees where Matt and I read our vows to each other – and the hike we took with Meg of Rodeo and Co after our ceremony! I will treasure those memories and images forever.
