5 Tips for a Thoughtful Bachelorette Getaway
If you’re a bride or bridesmaid suffering from a case of planner’s block, we hear you! It can be tough to put together the auxiliary wedding events with thoughtful + meaningful details, and even tougher to coordinate with the whole squad! Beyond choosing the dates, theme or getaway locale, we’re pretty sure you’re looking for an experience that’s breezy and memorable for everyone. Today we’re joined by former bride, Stephanie Wang, who’s sharing her own story of how her Malibu bachelorette became a weekend to remember and what 5 tips you can implement to kick your own bachelorette party up a notch!
Stephanie spills: 3 days in Malibu. Lodging in the cutest home. Steps away from the beach. A swag bag that was made from the love of all the guests. A homemade La Croix pinata. All my favorite things came together for 72 hours. With 9 bridesmaids, planning can be no easy feat, but the details and the teamwork that came together for this 3 day weekend came seamlessly. Wedding season is upon us, so if you’re planning a bachelorette weekend for yourself or a friend, here are some ideas and tips to get you started!
Tip #1: Sneak Peeks are the bee’s knees
9 weeks before the day of my bachelorette, each bridesmaid signed up for a week to deliver a sneak peek to me to get my pumped for what’s to come. Sneak peeks were little gifts that gave a preview of what I could anticipate at the bachelorette. They were delivered via mahand-deliveredp, hand delivered, or hidden in my bag. Some clues were there to throw me off, but all the clues made me so excited for the big weekend!
Tip #2: Lingerie Gifts? Let’s take it up a notch!
This idea credit goes to my maid of honor, Rhea. She realized that at every bachelorette, the bride got showered with lingerie for every single gift, from every single girl. To kick it up a notch, instead of having each girl bring lingerie, she had each guest signed up for an “occasion gift.” For example, the sign up sheet had occasions such as “Something for a rainy day,” or “Something for their 1st anniversary.” When I opened my gifts, I had gifts that covered all occasions such as the outdoors, for the kitchen, for the honeymoon, and I had to guess which guest brought which item! Don’t worry, lingerie was still include in lots of them, but I had a diverse array of gifts that I could use in all parts of my life.
Tip #3: Keep the swag bags collaborative and budget friendly
Goodie Bags (but we like to call them swag bags) can get expensive, especially when one guest is in charge of creating and purchasing items for everyone. To make it more budget-friendly and exciting for all the guests there, one person signs up for the vessel/bag, and everyone brings one item to contribute to the swag bag! Our swag bag contained flea market finds, snacks, visors, hair accessories, and more!
Tip #4: Have a photoshoot to end the weekend!
We did a photoshoot with our matching pj’s on the last day of our trip in front of the beach house. It was such a fun way to commemorate the end of the bachelorette. Plus, now we have these photos that are framed in some of our homes, and ones that will always make us smile!
Tip #5: See the Bachelorette from your friends’ eyes!
In the swag bags, each guest received a disposable camera to snap memories throughout the weekend. After the bachelorette, I got them developed, and reliving and seeing the weekend through all my friends’ eyes was such a treat!
These are just some of the many details my friends put together. I hope they help as you plan your bachelorette experience for you or a friend! Regardless of the details, the time together and the memories for these three days are ones that I will treasure most. Happy bach planning!
