Decadent Aussie Wedding Fit For Royalty
Today’s decadent Aussie wedding shot by Lara Hotz has left our jaws on the floor. From the chalky pastels of the bride’s bouquet to her dusty blue wedding dress from Paolo Sebastian with intricate garden details, Lauren + Steve’s wedding is like a botanical illustration brought to life. And even more so when you take a peek at the opulent reception decor with crystal chandeliers, luxe tablescapes and centerpieces overflowing with limes, pomegranates, and clusters of grapes. Just WAIT till you see their naked cake display, which will have you saying “It’s celebration-o-clock somewhere”! Moral of the story: this wedding has a whole lotta pizazz fit for royalty – so Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, do take note!
Tell us about the proposal!
10th September 2016. We had been working death hours and hadn’t had a chance to rest. We went to the fish markets and bought Lobster and Bugs, proceeded to cook seafood and followed by a bottle of champagne. Then Steven disappeared for a while and I thought “Where is he?”. It had been 15mins and I started to think it was my cooking. Then returned and we relaxed on the sofa with a Cognac in hand and “just like that” the most beautiful proposal followed by the most magnificent ring…. completely nailed the ring!
How would you describe yourselves as a couple?
Romantic and quirky. Talkative with each other to the point we discuss our day great or not so great, over dinner every night without the tv on. We have been like this ever since we met. We share similar interests, our love of construction and renovation, music, cooking, art and travel. We love Whiskey, Armagnac and Cognac. A perfect night for us is being at home, cooking a gourmet meal, music in the background, talking about homes, design and construction over a nice drink.
Steve to Lauren:
“When we first meet at a little bar in Balmain just around the corner where we would eventually be married I thought to myself ‘’wow, she is a feisty, charismatic, beautiful lady who loves construction…where do I sign up!’’. Talking the night away like 2 souls who have been reunited, both looking over one another, analyzing each movement and word to see if this moment was real.”
“We have grown into one another’s lives, feeding off each other’s success and failures. Helping one another in every situation and importantly enjoying our new-found life. Realising rapidly into our relationship that we need to make it official. Pulling together all my hard-earned cash, selling anything in sight, all to put a rock on that finger. Oh but no normal rock would be suffice, my interior designer girl had her pretty little brown eyes set on a sapphire. It took me 6 months to search for that perfect stone, as I knew that such a stone would only sit perfectly on her delicate little finger and bring out the biggest smile every time you would feast your eyes on it, and to me I would sell it all again and more to make sure that smile is around forever.”
“If this is how we have started this journey, my heart fills with a desire to see how we can expand on our dreams and make fruitful life memories, of families old and new. Marcel Proust has expressed this feeling with, ‘The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes.'”
Lauren to Steve:
“Steven from the moment I met you, I knew I would be taken good care of for the rest of my life. In return, I will do my best to take good care of you always. You are so caring, calm, you are loving and someone to easily fall in love with, on a daily basis. I know, I keep you on your toes and keep it interesting constantly, even when you want a plain and boring day. One day soon let’s hope that we can make little babies and that they have the same spunky, beautiful qualities like us. We both work so hard and will continue to do so, so our children will have a wonderful upbringing and live in a house that we have renovated or built together. Let’s always ensure that we laugh, communicate, tell our depth thoughts to each other until we have false teeth. Love you Steve xoxo”
