Melbourne Wedding at the Prince

I’m all kinds of excited to share today’s wedding with you all! The phenomenally talented Washington-based Sergio Mottola traveled all the way over to Melbourne, Australia to capture the day of Gloria and Tom at The Prince Deck planned by Simply Georgeous Events. All I can say is this: if you think you know hotel weddings, prepare to have your socks completely blown off.

From the bride, Gloria: We wanted something intimate, relaxed, fun and not at all fussy. A little bit rustic and very Melbourne. This made Circa the perfect space for our wedding and having it happen at dusk meant that we would be bathed in twilight as we walked down the aisle on the deck. We definitely didn’t want it to be a typical Chinese-style banquet wedding. We pictured about 90 of our closest friends and families coming together and having an amazing time – with great music, great food. It was as much about them as it was about us.

We initially wanted to have the whole thing outdoors on a farm property with a marquee/barn for the reception. However, logistically and budget-wise, it just wasn’t going to happen. So we kept the same rustic, farm-style feel of it, cleaned it up a little and brought it all inside. The deck was perfect because it still allowed us to be in an open space with all that beautiful twilight.

Any advice for brides planning their weddings now? There is no right or wrong way to plan a wedding – do what feels right. For us, it was having our lovely friends at Georgeous do it all for us and they did an amazing job. We wanted to take the stress of planning away from our friends and just be able to throw a solid party. As for the lead up to the day, I think it’s important to be in the moment and enjoy the process together with your partner.
