Ski Lodge Intimate Wedding

Kirsten and Seth were married in a bohemian, cozy, laid back ceremony at a ski lodge this fall surrounded by family and friends. They handled ALL the details themselves and turned the Canyon Ski Lodge into a cozy, romantic venue where they (personally) served all of their guesst a hearty meal. I love Kirsten’s pretty and warm wedding day outfit- no frills or pomp, just some vintage, natural goodness and she looks stunning. The couple handmade all the details and all in just a two month engagement! Thanks to Stephanie Koo for sending over the amazing images.

From the gorgeous bride. I really wanted our wedding to represent who we we were. I wanted it to feel relaxed, genuine, heartfelt, a bit rustic and a little bohemian, while still feeling put together. And fun! Lots of fun.

I didn’t have a clear vision of what I wanted in a wedding dress. All I knew was I wanted lace. The stores in town didn’t have what I was looking for, and with not much time, I couldn’t order anything in. My aunt suggested a non-bridal store in Edmonton, called The Tattered Rose. Seth and I drove up that morning, tried one on, and it was perfect! No alterations or anything. The owner said it came over from the UK and was made around 1960.

We bought all our dishes, serving plates, old mason jars for candles, vases and photo frames at local thrift stores around Central Alberta, and our water glasses and wine glasses at Ikea. Doing so was much more time consuming but way cheaper. I made table runners out of old sheets in a vintage pattern from a thrift store.

I made and canned, all our apple butter for our favours, and Seth peeled all the apples. I cut from old scraps of fabric, sheets and whatever else i could find to make the covers on the tops of the jars.

  • Yay Canada!!! Love seeing some fellow Canadian’s on the blogs. xoxo

  • Gorgeous! I love the eclectic mix of styles – it gives you a true sense of the couple rather than going for something ‘weddingy’ – and proves that paired back elegance can be so impactful.

  • I love the rustic vintage feel of this wedding! I’m going to call it “Rustage” The plates and favors are my favorite details.

I just love this Ruffled blog of yours. It was nice to actually see you at the World Cafe. I’ve been following you for some time now so it was no surprise that your booth was one of my faves :)Thanks for being so awesome!!
