Washington Music Inspired Wedding

We are always giddy to see weddings from our readers come to fruition. When Atalie, the gorgeous bride from this wedding, sent over these images shot by Tonhya Kae, we literally squealed. We immediately fell in love with all of the musical inspiration spread throughout her wedding day, from vintage music sheets to an amazing soundtrack selection. The bride’s amazingly talented friends and family pitched in for her big day, handcrafting details such as the bridesmaids’ headbands and the darling peacock boutonnieres.

From the bride, Atalie: My first inspiration was of course my relationship with Gus. I decided to do everything music themed because we bond over music. We used a guitar for our guest book and placed a few engagement photos in the strings. I hand made all of the boutonnieres, adding the peacock feathers was the perfect touch! I added music paper feathers to tie them into everything… my favorite! The music we played at our wedding was music we both loved and music that made us think of each other. I ended up having everyone walk to Sweet Disposition by The Temper Trap. It flowed beautifully, and Gus definitely cried when I walked down the aisle! Our venue 4-H camp was very old and rustic. Together we decided our colors would be grey, navy blue, and a sage-ish green. We brought some vintage furniture, and I was very happy to find that the old piano I remembered playing as a child was still there! We also had tons of mason jars and all the old books, frames, suitcases, records, and vintage music paper were from my Grandma.

The other inspiration for the wedding was our photographer Tonhya and her style of photography. I loved how friendly she was, and that she was our age. She related so well to us and all of our friends, and was so sweet the whole day. My advice to brides about photography is to hire someone you believe in, and that you can be friends with. Splurge on it too, because it will be the only thing you have to remember your day with!

The actual day was amazing. We were afraid it was going to be pouring down rain, but it only began to sprinkle as I walked down the aisle to Sigur Ros… which made the moment even more magical. Everything looked so beautiful, and I loved how personal all of it was to Gus and I. It was the most surreal day of my life, and I wish I could relive it! My advise to brides is to make things because you love your fiance, not just because you want it to look like a wedding you saw on a blog. Take a moment to sit down and admire everything with your husband.

  • first those ties are fantastic, but the location of this wedding is just gorgeous! it makes me miss home in mn! but the music notes on everything is really my favorite.

  • Wow – lovely imagery! And a stunning couple as well as location – great work!

  • Their bowties/ties are so cute! And what a fun idea to use their guitar as a guestbook!:)

  • The picture of them by their communion table is so beautiful! May God Bless them all their lives!!

  • WOW!! I’m in love with all of these elaborate details!!! So surreal venue, fabulous cake(really beautiful!!),I love them!! And the first pic is charming!!!

  • Goodness, you are literally my morning treat. I was saving up your victorian steampunk post until today and now this as well! These are such special piccys… so many elements to love but I think it is the overall amount of personality and thought that has gone into the wedding design that pleases me most. Thank you for being my double morning treat ๐Ÿ™‚ p.s Atalie is such a stunning, stunning bride!

  • Thank you SO much everyone!
I am extremely blessed by Tonhya and her. Talents and I love that they were shared with the world. She is amazing and if you live in the NorthWest (or anywhere really) I would hire her! Funny story, the cake was one of my FAVORITE things, and my families golden retriever Wilson ate it the day after the wedding! I don’t blame him though, it was basically a devils food peanut butter cup cake with whipped cream cheese frosting and buttercream ornamentation! ๐Ÿ™‚ we get an anniversary cake though which is great. Thanks for all the love! Ruffled was always my favorite and I am incredibly honored and so ecstatic for Tonhya!

  • Everything looks amazing! Love the groom/groomsmen peacock feather boutonnieres with their unique wrap of twine and buttons…loving all the details of this wedding!

  • I LOVE how they used the musical theme. Everything looked so pretty and like it was made with so much love. Amazing song list too.

  • I thought this venue looked familiar! I went to summer camp with the Campfire Kids there! Awesome! I’m planning a summer wedding in Olympia so you can add another Olympia wedding to your collection!
