Every now and again, we come across a couple whose story sounds like it’s straight out of a novel: in this case, we have Tess and Aaron, who met as young teenagers and dated until Aaron proposed on a post-dinner walk. The two chose to celebrate their union in their favorite vacation spot, bringing along Byron Loves Fawn (check out their brand new site!) to create the dreamy photos you see here.
From the bride, Tess: I moved to Aaron’s school in year 8, where we were introduced by a mutual friend. Our friendship grew quickly and blossomed into romance by year 10. We have been together ever since and feel so blessed to have found each other as young as we did. I had no idea that Aaron would propose when he did although we had talked briefly on marriage and both felt strongly about it. Aaron managed to surprise me on the 31st August 2009 by proposing on a walk after a lovely dinner date. It was clear that he was wracked with nerves and I almost forgot to say Yes.
We were married in a place that neither of us came from but rather a place that has taken a special place in our hearts. Wollongong is a regular holiday destination for us where we love to spend quality time together. Also we share a great love for the seaside so it did not feel right to not get married by the beach.
It was important for our day to represent us as a couple. We wanted our friends and family to walk away either thinking or saying “that was totally them.” We didn’t have a particular theme for our wedding, we just chose things that we liked and hoped it would all go together. We wanted our day to be relaxed and easy yet full of love and romance. Our guests were able to have a soft drink during our ceremony and then they just had to walk across the road to our reception venue. For the reception we tried to steer away from the traditional setting, so we had lunch in a private room at a restaurant overlooking the water.
When planning our wedding we wanted to organize everything early so that we could relax and just enjoy each other’s company beforehand. There wasn’t much stress and no bridezillas! We enjoyed all the DIY details of our wedding and watching it come together, it was something that we had accomplished as a couple and that was special to us.
