The Southern Experience – Venn Workshops
This past summer Kellan Studios and Jodi Miller Photography had a workshop for photographers, Venn Workshops. The theme was “The Southern Experience”, which you can almost taste right from the screen! Although this is a shoot, there are oodles of great ideas for anyone planning a vintage Southern wedding. From Kellan Studios: This workshop was hosted by our studio and Jodi Miller Photography this summer in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains at the breathtaking antebellum plantation called Pharsalia. Still in the family for well over a 100 years, it is a working orchard, vineyard, as well as selling flowers and vegetables at market all summer long.
Our workshop focused on the best of the best that the south has to offer as well as working with the unique challenges that this area can be handed (swampy hot summers for starters!). Attendees were treated to a southern retreat like feel dining on gourmet southern cuisine/drinks all day during the teaching sessions. The shooting sessions focused on four areas of the wedding world: Bridal portraits, engagement shoot, wedding day private session, and shooting reception details.
Each shooting section was highly stylized and detail heavy to incorporate that rich vintage southern feel of the plantation and surrounding views. The weather was picture perfect and each element came together seamlessly.
