Oh, Friday, I just love you so much with your promise of good times and friends and brunches! It’s been another week full of pretty Ruffled goodness over here and we’ve got even more on our plates for next week. We hope you’re enjoying the new galleries feature and are finding all the gorgeousness you could ever hope for! Blue Label is getting bigger and bigger and we’re just so impressed by the talent over there. You know, like these guys…

Keira + Dan's Quirky New England Wedding II

Continuing with this sweet vintage wedding shot by Studio Nouveau with a Super 8mm video by Hello Super 8…

From Keira, the bride:

Dan is actually the crafty one in our home. He made the Save the Dates and place cards himself and also designed the images for the temporary tattoos we handed out. I love DIY, but I am hopeless with crafts. I guess I am more of a do-it-for-me person (DIFM?). We used a lot of great Etsy vendors for the bridesmaid dresses, temporary tattoos, and other decorations. Etsy is addictive and invaluable for party planning. I was lucky enough to have some amazing and talented friends offer to help–2 of them were so inspired by this that they have started their own Etsy shops! We also chose vendors that really find the art in everything they do. This meant a lot of “what do you think of this?” back and forth emails and a ton of inspiration images. It resulted in an amazing group of people who were really invested in our wedding.

Here’s the video in Super 8mm film by Megan from Hello Super 8. It will give you a more comprehensive idea of how fun this wedding was! Also, turn up the volume because “Hotel Yorba” by the White Stripes is perfect for the video.

Keira + Dan’s Quirky New England Wedding I

When Megan from Hello Super 8 sent over this wedding I jumped for joy. It’s a Ruffled classic – it got vintage, quirky and a warm vibe all around. Big thanks to the ladies at Studio Nouveau for sharing these images with us!

A little bit from the bride, Keira:

Dan and I had a great day on October 17. We got married.

We really owe most of our inspiration to one lovely piece of fuchsia tulle. I had already picked out my dress from Stephanie James Couture when they sent me a few color samples–including fuchsia. Pink was never a favorite of mine, but something about this color–a little sweet but a little edgy–just hooked me. It sort of snowballed from there. Several times during planning I would hear myself or someone say “Wouldn’t it be cool if we could…”? Wear a shark as a boutonniere? Have bridesmaids in dresses with antlers and mermaids? Use “I give you this ring because you are my favorite” as part of our vows? Both walk down the aisle with our parents? So we just decided to do all of them. When we took the rules of what we could and couldn’t do away–that’s when the wedding started to feel like us. I think it worked–so many people commented on how the wedding felt authentic, but never alienating.

Sarah + Reed's 4th of July Wedding, Part III

What about a summer wedding with lots of activities for everyone? Sarah and Reed’s wedding had croquet, tug-of-war, and a parade from the ceremony to the reception lead by an accordian. Basically, their wedding makes everyone jealous to those who didn’t attend (like myself). Big thanks to Joel and Mary from Blue Window Creative.

Sarah and Reed are talented videographers from Grow Film, and on their wedding day they let their guests use their cameras to record the day. The result is magical – the imperfections make it so much more special. Some of their guests had never used a Super 8mm camera before!

Sarah and Reed were married at Red Barn Studios in Chehalis, Washington where they had a whole day of games and activities after the ceremony. The bride’s vintage inspired wedding dress and the groom’s outfit (and his shoes as well) were both custom made by Adam-Arnold. This vintage 4th of July wedding is a gem! Sent by the utterly talented Mary and Joel from Blue Window Creative, this vintage Americana wedding may be one of the most fun fetes ever featured here on Ruffled. Sarah and Reed are amazing videographers who made their super 8mm camera collection available for guests tp use to record their wedding day (we’ll be sharing the finished product in a bit). Besides this special DIY idea, the couple also DIY’ed everything else.

Super 8mm videography

It never crossed my mind to hire a videographer for my wedding. Not so much because of our tight budget, but because I’ve never watched a wedding video I liked. When I found out about Super 8mm wedding videography, I fell in love with the idea. By then, our budget was too tight to squeeze in any extra. I love the romantic and timeless look a Super 8 camera captures. Its grainy, faded colors add a dreamy feeling that no modern camera does. The videos are usually no longer than 15 minutes, which is enough time to show it to someone without torturing them for hours (and considering my attention span, I don’t think I could watch a wedding video for longer than that :) )

I did some research on Wedding Videographers that only work with Super 8 mm films and I found these:
