Soft European Wedding Inspiration

Wedding Design

Photos by:

Soft baby blues and hints of gold are always a magical pair, especially when matched up with European flair. The Big Fake Wedding recently made its way to Houston and brought together some talented Texan vendors for a day full of beauty and inspired wedding design!

Dallas Wedding with Couture Fashion

Romantic Weddings

All you fashion lovers out there, this one’s for you. Katherine O’Brien Photography photographed the wedding day of Matt and Katy, who work for VICE Magazine and 3.1 Phillip Lim respectively, so it’s little surprise that their wedding day would be all kinds of stylish. Throw Bows + Arrows into the mix for floral design? We’re sold, a million times over.

Dallas wedding with couture fashion - photo by Katherine OBrien Photography http://ruffledblog.com/dallas-wedding-with-couture-fashion

From the bride, Katy: Our priority was to make sure everyone had fun. We had a lot of out of town guests (Matt is from New Orleans, I am from Dallas) so we wanted to make sure that everyone had a wonderful weekend in Dallas! It might sound kind of strange, but we didn’t really have an overriding style or theme. Once we decided on Dallas, we really just wanted to do what Texas is great at – Friday night we had BBQ and went to Adair’s Saloon for drinks and dancing (after dinner) and Saturday night we had Meixcan food and margaritas for dinner. We wanted the weekend to be intimate and a party at the same time so when making our choices we always had that in the back of our minds.

We didn’t really have colors which at times was a bit difficult! Especially when trying to pick out linens for the cocktail tables and dinner tables. For the most part, our colors were very neutral – black, white, and neutral. We wanted the flowers, food and drink to really make everything come together. In terms of DIY, Matt is an Art Director so he created all of the invitations and printed collateral. We live in Brooklyn, New York so having a wedding in Dallas was a bit challenging at times as we were planning everything from afar.

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? Matt and I had the time of our lives! The entire evening we were surrounded by the dearest people in our lives singing, dancing, and having the grandest time. Remember to make choices that you both love, as a couple, and the night will fall perfectly in to place. We were always asking ourselves – is that what WE really want? Since we didn’t have a bridal party, we wanted to incorporate our immediate family in to as much of the ceremony as possible. I have 7 siblings so it was important to me that they were all part of the processional. Matt’s uncle was our officiant and Matt’s nephew was our ring bearer. I often times felt like the rental options were really limited so we ended up purchasing quite a few things at prices that were even less than the rentals! For example, I found amazing wine decanters at a Crate and Barrel outlet… if you aren’t finding what you like, there are a million possibilities. You just have to be willing to put a little time in to research!

Wedding Music:
Bride’s Processional: “Hallelujah,” Jeff Buckley
Recessional: “Married Life” from the movie UP
First Dance: “A Little Lost,” Arthur Russell

From the photographer, Katherine O’Brien Photography: Katy & Matt met in NYC. Katy works for the designer Phillip Lim and Matt works for VICE – they planned to have their wedding in Dallas for family. The ceremony was at the Dallas Arbortem and with dinner in her Mother’s Backyard and a dance reception at the Stoneleigh P hotel downtwn. Katy said “For the Valentino dress, I bought the runway sample over the phone (with out trying it on which makes me seem totally crazy)!! The dress was featured in a Valentino advertisement in W Magazine a few years ago. I took a pic of the advertisement, saved it on my phone, and thought “this would be a beautiful dress if I ever got married.” Skip ahead a year or two, Matt and I were engaged and I was able to track down the dress in Europe! I never had to go wedding dress shopping… I was able to check the dress off the “to do” list pretty quickly. “For the 3.1 Phillip Lim dresses for my 3 sisters — I didn’t have “traditional” bridesmaids but I knew that I wanted my three sisters to feel really special so when Phillip designed these flowing beautiful dresses for our Summer collection, I knew they would be perfect. It also worked out well as there was a shorter version for my twin sisters (who are 12) and then there was a longer version for sister who is a bit older (she is 22). I also liked the idea of having the girls in white and in a dress that they could re-wear… I definitely did not want a traditional bridesmaid dress for them. For the 3.1 Phillip Lim dress that I changed in to — the Valentino dress was rather restricting and pretty heavy — I knew that I wanted to dance with Matt and all of our friends so I decided that I wanted to have something more comfortable to wear for the 2nd half of the night. I loved how modern and simple it was. I have been with the brand for 4 years so it meant a lot to wear something from the collection.

Rust and Thistle Wedding Inspiration

Wedding Design

While blue and orange may not be the most common color scheme, this styled shoot from Tracy Enoch Photography, Meggie Fracisco Events, and Expressions of Decor is here to show us how incredibly beautiful the unexpected can be. Our favorite element of this shoot might just be the plaid tablecloth, which ties together the tablescape effortlessly!

From the event designer, Meggie Fracisco Events: The sparkling new Laurel venue in Grapevine, Texas brings a unique option to Dallas and Fort Worth Area couples. With an outdoor ceremony space, an indoor chapel for shelter from unpredictable Texas rain, and an indoor/outdoor reception space, couples looking to wed have lots of options at a location that feels like a destination, but still close to home. In this inspirational shoot, we show off the venue’s hill-country style charm with a bold palette of rust, thistle and porcelain white. The clean wood ceremony altar takes on a more relaxed tone with carefree curly willow and hearty blooms. Crystal chandeliers add a touch of sparkle.

The table, anchored by a robust heavy plaid linen and accented by comfy cushioned benches, overflows with lush greenery and abundant roses and tulips. Antique scroll dinnerware and cut crystal glassware play together to create a relaxed, mix-and-match feeling. Wood-handled Laguiole steak knives reflect the venue’s generous use of wood accents and build anticipation for a hearty Texas steak dinner. The bridal model dons a thickly textured Ines di Santo gown in a rich alabaster tone. The dramatic, low v-back mermaid gown highlights the model’s natural beauty. Sparkly drop earrings and a lush bouquet packed with roses complete the look. We’re honored to share this shoot to show that a wedding can be just as romantic and beautiful even with non-traditional wedding colors. When designing your wedding, start with the colors you love and then think about how to create comfort, warmth, and celebration within that palette. The result will be an event that’s completely unique!

Celestial Inspired Wedding Shoot

Wedding Design

“I love you to the moon and back,” “I love you more than there are stars in the sky” — there’s something about the expansiveness of the skies and the unlimited nature of love that makes these expressions work so well. With that in mind, the talented team of Bri Costello Photography, Jitters & Cocktails, The Arrangement Co., and Vintage Indulgence set to work on this stylish shoot inspired by all things celestial, incorporating beautiful shades of blue and gold for a look that makes us dream of starry nights.

From the photographer, Bri Costello: I live in Houston, the largest city in Texas, and 3rd largest in the continental US (expected to surpass Chicago by 2020); although, Houston kind of gets a bad rep sometimes. I mean, for the first 4 years I lived here as an adult, I had pledged to move to Austin first chance I got. To be fair, we are quite spread out, neighboring suburbs often spanning up to 45 miles in distance. And there isn’t a major distinguishing factor of Houston. We aren’t weird like Austin, posh like Dallas, nor historical like San Antonio or artisanal like Marfa. And although it took me a hot second to discover, our city is actually kind of funky and awesome.

Houston is the southern epicenter for great museums, opera, ballet, fine art, theatre arts, we have a deep heritage in blues music, great international cuisine, and… we have NASA. Houston, we do not have a problem. For a city whose sport’s team names are: Astros, Rockets, Comets, and Aeros (NHL, folks. We have hockey in Houston), space exploration has become a large aspect of Houston’s identity. Being a lover of the night sky and space and space travel myself, I was a bit inspired by our city’s connection and curiosity for what exists beyond. As I have grown to truly love this city and now proudly claim Houston as my home, I began to develop the idea of creating a project that would highlight this niche of Houston’s makeup in such a way that would be creative, relevant, and authentic, without being too thematically hokie. I felt compelled to give a nod to Houston’s heart for the sun, moon, and stars. So from there, I then teamed up with an amazing crew, largely based here in Houston, and began the Pinterest boards, conversations, style boards, colors schemes, and all the coordination that go in to a styled shoot.

Jace, with Jitters & Cocktails was incredible at taking my ideas and then sourcing them and bringing them to life. On the day of the shoot, Aubrey with The Arrangement Co. showed up with buckets of the most gorgeous flowers I have seen in a long time. She jumped right in and found such creative ways to incorporate florals in to the decor. Lauren with Vintage Indulgence is a worker and a doer. She has an incredible inventory, and pulled up, truck packed to the brim, and took-off creating some of these beautiful spaces to shoot. As a team, we had a strong vision for a shoot that I can only describe as a mash-up of Galileo’s workspace, except his wife decided to clean-up a bit and throw a fancy dinner party. With that in mind, we tried to avoid too much vintage, anything too modern or too thematic, and/or designs that read more of a garden party. Mixing metals and materials and textures was key in creating a cohesive look that didn’t feel too forced. The backdrop for the ceremony is a late-night creation I thought of in my head. We went back and forth between 100 different ideas for something for the altar, but when I came down to it, we wanted the altar to be centralizing piece that brought the rest of the shoot together. So I found a spare sheet of plywood in my father’s garage and went to town with scrap paints from a local paint store’s “mess-up.” We all love what we created and had a blast working together. Our models were so on-point, and all of the details really just came together so beautifully, and we had fun playing and creating. And isn’t that what this is all about anyhow?

Modern Romantic Holiday Shoot

Wedding Design

We absolutely can’t believe how close Christmas is, and we’re so happy to be sharing some of our favorite holiday inspiration shoots as we get ready! Today’s shoot is sent over by Alyssa & Michelle from Cotton Weddings, Weddings by Jessee, and F Dellit Designs, who put together a shoot that’s totally modern and romantic at the same time. Deep reds, rich gold, and a touch of grey against fresh white make everything pop and make us oh-so-ready for cozy celebrations.

modern romantic holiday shoot - photo by Cotton Weddings http://ruffledblog.com/modern-romantic-holiday-shoot

From the photographers, Alyssa & Michelle from Cotton Weddings: The classically elegant white interior and dramatic wooden cathedral doors of The Citadel on Kirby gave us a stunning backdrop for this styled shoot. We were inspired to design details for the modern, romantic bride who loves a touch of drama. The deep red, gold, and white color story was intended to inspire the Holiday bride without looking like a traditional Holiday wedding. Gold leafing details were incorporated throughout and are seen in the invitation suite, the dessert table, and, to top it off, the bride’s side swept romantic braid.

A Fine Flourish designed an invitation suite that felt both modern and organic; with accents of gold on soft hemp paper and grey envelopes. The stunning deep red florals by F. Dellit Designs really accentuated the design of the table scape and allowed the entire table to pop against the white walls of the citadel. Mercury glass vases and pedestals held the florals while the gold flatware paired with crystal glassware really made an elegant statement. The entire dessert table had a light, modern feel with marbling and gold leaf details on the cake, chocolate gems, and macaroons.

The simplicity of the bridesmaids holding a single deep red peony as their alternate to a bouquet supported the minimalistic elegance of their ivory dresses while allowing the bride and her dramatic bouquet to shine. From the bride’s soft gown, romantic hair, and bold red lips to the drama of the florals and romantic candlelit images of the bride and groom, the styling came together seamlessly. I adored every moment of working with Michelle and Alyssa of Michelle Able Photography, who captured every angle of the designs just as we envisioned them.

Intimate Colorful Wedding at Gruene Estate

Romantic Weddings

Horses, paper punch garlands, vibrant floral arrangements, a beautiful couple deeply in love — this wedding has it all. Natalia and Adam exchanged vows at the stunning Gruene Estate in the most adorable open-air chapel, following by a colorful reception with heaps of handmade touches. Jessica Scott Photography and Rosehip Flora‘s work shine in this wedding!

intimate colorful wedding at Gruene Estate - photo by Jessica Scott Photography http://ruffledblog.com/intimate-colorful-wedding-at-gruene-estate

From the bride, Natalia: The idea for our wedding started with the venue, Gruene Estate–a little farm with an open-air chapel and reception hall. We wanted something fun, colorful, and not too stuffy to match the location. We also drew inspiration from our invitations. We are both designers so we teamed up to tell our story through pictures and this gave us an idea of what we wanted to do for decorations. With a lot of help from our friends and family, we made all of the decorations ourselves, even with everyone being scattered across different states. The circle backdrop was made by running the circles through the sewing machine and we hand-painted the cake toppers. Overall, it was definitely a labor of love and we are so happy how it turned out.

Our color scheme was pink, orange and a light green. We had laser cut place mats that our friends cut for us, we hand punched and sewed through our backdrop, we stamped our own favors which were little sketchbooks and also dipped the pencils in paint. My husband painted the cake toppers by hand.

What’s better than a little burst of tropical wedding inspiration as the weather keeps getting chillier? Warm right up with the latest installment from The Big Fake Wedding, who made it to Austin, Texas with dreams of bright orange, yellow, and plenty of ferns and foliage to go around.

Organic Bohemian Wedding Inspiration

Wedding Design

As the air continues to get a bit chillier, this is exactly the type of design content we like to see — an emphasis on understated elegance, organic floral arrangements, and a few wreaths thrown in for festive good measure. Thank you to Tracy Enoch Photography, Urban Magnolia Weddings and Events, and Lizzie Bee’s Flower Shoppe for sharing this beautiful inspiration!

From the event designer, Urban Magnolia Weddings and Events: This styled shoot was definitely inspired by the bohemian bride that we all love. This bride loves soft touches as well rich and organic florals with hints of vintage brought in by the lace backed gown. This bride adores softer florals with more eclectic seating (provided by Juniper Rentals). The invitation truly embodies the feeling of soft handed design with some eye catching watercolor flowers.

Garden Rooftop Wedding Inspiration

Wedding Design

There are few things chicer than a rooftop wedding, and when you add the romanticism of a secret garden, it just becomes irresistible. This inspiration shoot comes straight out of Dallas, with the talented photography and designs of Elisabeth Carol Photography, Chic Fleur Weddings and Events, and Something Pretty Floral in tow. I tell you, we could stare at that incredible floral and greenery table runner all day!

garden rooftop wedding inspiration - photo by Elisabeth Carol Photography http://ruffledblog.com/garden-rooftop-wedding-inspiration

From the event designer, Chic Fleur Weddings and Events: This dreamy styled shoot took place at the North Ervay Venue which also happens to be a historic post office in downtown Dallas. With a modern rooftop surrounded by Downtown Dallas’s tallest building, we wanted to bring a garden inspired look at a modern rooftop setting. Designed and styled by Chic Fleur Weddings and Events was a romantic table setting with vintage details of flatware and brass candlesticks with a long floral garland designed by Something Pretty Floral. Our model wore a delicate feminine dress that took our breath away every time the wind blew. A dove release was a must have to fit this romantic shoot. From the romantic furniture rentals to the significant building itself, it could not have been a more romantic back drop for our modern garden shoot.

Pecan Springs Ranch Wedding with Vintage Touches

Whimsical Weddings

We always know to expect big things when a wedding planner gets married. Funnily enough, bride Paige of Pure Love Style would have been content with eloping, but with her husband Matt participating in over 20 weddings over the years, he was ready for his own celebration. Commence the party planning! Paige brought along AL Gawlik Photography, Sarah Goss Photography, and The Flower Girl to round out her vision, and the result is one vibrant and fun wedding perfect for the couple with lots of vintage touches.

From the bride, Paige: As a lover of all things old and vintage I knew right away that our inspiration would come from our many trips to the Round Top Antique week and other various flea markets. Not only did I want the flea market feel at our wedding, I also wanted equine accents. My true passion in life is my horses! I’ve been riding and showing horses for over 25 years so it just wouldn’t be my style with out special horse touches. It wasn’t hard for us to achieve this look since my home and my families have pretty much been outfitted by years of “junking”!

We were asked no less than a dozen times what our “colors” were, well we didn’t exactly have a traditional wedding color palette. I’m a big fan of black and white stripes and was determined to incorporate it into our décor. After many local linen appointments we found exactly what we were looking for at La Tavola linens. We decided to not just do black and white stripes but to do a mix of black and white patterns. We went with black and white stripe table runners on farm wood tables, white with black polka dot linens on our cocktail tables, black and white large check linens on our vendor tables and our patterns of black and white linens were all tied together with our one white textured linen that went on the round guest tables.

As a floral designer flowers were a top priority to me. My flowers were so important that I bought an off the rack wedding dress from Nordstrom in the cocktail dress section for $300 so that I could spend more on my floral!! I wanted bright and bold flowers and lots of texture. I ended up deciding on shades of pink, fuchsia, reds, blush, coral & burgundy for my floral colors… I said I wanted bold and bright! To achieve my over the top floral designs I collaborated with my dear friend, Kari Shelton of The Flower Girl. We have worked together numerous times and I knew she would be the perfect design partner for my floral arrangements. The floral plan was very vague; no two arrangements could look the same, no “traditional” vases / containers, and each table would have multiple arrangements along with little “whatnots” to accomplish my vision.

One of our other wedding goals was to have a delicious and tasty wedding. We obviously accomplished this with our food trucks but we added even more deliciousness by have 5 smallish wedding cakes, totaling 3 different flavors, to create a cake display versus just one big cake. Simon Lee Bakery did an amazing job with our wedding cakes. Matt and I both share the love of homemade pecan pie! We persuaded my grandmother to make us 20 pecan pies so that we could share our favorite pie with our friends. We even displayed her recipe and Matt’s Grandmother’s pecan pie recipe as part of our pie display. We served our cake and pie off vintage cake plates and people were even able to take pie slices home with them in our kraft pie slice to go box.

As a wedding planner one of my biggest fears was to have a boring wedding and there’s no question ours was NOT boring. I’m a huge confetti fan and was able to talk my parents into letting us have a confetti cannon go off later in the night over the dance floor. We kept it a secret from all of our friends and it was one of best-kept secrets ever! The look on their faces when the confetti canon went off was priceless… a little confetti will definitely get bodies on the dance floor. We were having so much fun we didn’t want the night to end. My Mom was insistent that we leave and not keep partying! I couldn’t figure out why it was a big deal if we went a little longer since my family owns the venue. Well, it’s a good thing we listened to Mom and did our sparkler exit because she and my family had arranged to surprise us with fireworks! After our sparkler exit we jumped on the tailgate of our friend Amy’s vintage truck (the same one I rode in going to the ceremony) and headed down the drive; as we approached the road out of Pecan Springs we were showered in fireworks that lined the road. We were completely surprised and in awe! It was absolutely the perfect ending to a perfect night!

Garden Wedding in Dripping Springs

Garden Weddings

Photos by:

The Nichols

I swear, it’s like today’s wedding took elements of all our favorite types of weddings and rolled it into one, and ended up with one ridiculously beautiful wedding day. The Nichols and Gypsy Floral put some absolutely beautiful work in as photographers and event designer/florist, respectively. And that dessert bar with drool-worthy iced donuts? Well, we’re already trying to find excuses to set one of those up at all of our upcoming events!

From the bride, Averi: I wanted it to have a boho/romantic style with a comfortable easy going feeling. I also wanted it to have some whimsical/personal touches, like the pug cake toppers (we have 2 pugs), pug cuff links, funfetti cake/donuts, and the DIY calligraphy & cake table backdrop.

Bouquet recipe: Lots of peonies, ranunculus, roses, garden roses, dusty miller, anemone, & protea (a hawaiian flower added to the arch) and a few others I am not sure the name of.

Our color scheme was white & creme, peach, blush, celedon + sea glass with pops of pink, bright peony & gold. I hand painted the watercolor escort and place cards and did the calligraphy on them. I also did the calligraphy on the bar sign, and welcome sign. I made the tassel backdrop behind the cake table.

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? It is so easy to get caught up in the whole planning process and the million different awesome ideas you see on Pinterest. I definitely let some really small silly things stress me out that in the big picture didn’t end up mattering at all. I would say that just to try and enjoy the planning process and not get to swept up in the insignificant details. I know it sounds cliche, but honestly it really is about marrying the person you love and not about having the perfect Koozie color or a rain-free day. I tried not to let myself have an exact image of what the whole day would look like, because I didn’t want to get weirdly let down if it wasn’t the perfect picture I saw in my head. So when the day came around, a lot of it was a surprise to me and I absolutely loved how everything turned out!

Mid-Century Mexican Wedding at the Belmont Dallas

Modern Weddings

Photos by:

Amber Vickery

Today’s couple Viviana and Dustin describe their wedding style as “Texican,” the perfect fusion of their backgrounds. The two exchanged vows in Dallas with the talented Amber Vickery and Dirt Flowers on hand, but filled the day with nods to Viviana’s Mexican heritage and oodles of bright color and fun floral arrangements. We particularly love the use of floor tiles as table number displays!

From the bride, Viviana: From start to finish, the one word we found ourselves calling the style of our wedding was “Texican”. We came across this word because we are very proud of my Mexican heritage and Dustin’s Texan background. So it was only natural to incorporate these things into our big day. A few things we knew we wanted was to have it outdoors, despite the Texas heat, with fabulous brunch style food. We threw in specialty popsicles for dessert because what’s better than popsicles in the middle of summer?

The way we would describe our wedding would be vibrant, colorful, relaxed, and personal. Our color scheme was quite unlimited being that Mexican blankets were the inspiration and used throughout the ceremony and reception. The biggest DIY of the wedding would be my wedding dress. It was a custom designed gown by Lucy Dang Dallas with an embroidered hem that I made by hand. From having a close friend design my wedding dress to Dustin’s dad officiating the ceremony, we wanted to include our family and friends in our celebrations as much as possible. My dad even made a giant jenga set as well as a beautiful prayer bench that we took communion on during the ceremony.

I was so excited about the flowers for the wedding and our florist Sonya from Dirt is absolutely amazing! She knew exactly what I was looking for right from the beginning. I trusted her completely and the end result was stunning! The only flower I requested were peonies which are my favorite flower and they were used beautifully throughout the bouquets and centerpieces.

From the photographer, Amber Vickery: Viviana and Dustin’s wedding was a perfect fusion of their heritages, he’s from the South and her family is from Mexico. She’s vibrant and a talented fiber artist and he’s a photographer and a little bit quieter. Their wedding was full of lovely, colorful details, I mean, those hot pink heels from Sarah Jessica Parker? And her dress made by Lucy Dang and the bride actually embroidered herself? The details really blew me away. It was incredible.

Hand Painted Wedding Inspiration

Wedding Design

How could we not fall in love with this incredible shoot from Nicole Berrett Photography and Stems of Dallas? Pinks, yellows, greens — our absolute favorite colors, all looking their best. The hand painted tablecloth by Marcy Cook Art absolutely steals the scene and turns the reception table into an all-out show-stopper.

From the photographer, Nicole Berrett: Inspired by the colorful hues of Marcy Cook’s handpainted cloth, together photographer Nicole Berrett and the floral designers of Stems of Dallas created an artistic piece surrounding a linen on a table. The idea was to create something erring on the side of simplicity while incorporating unique creativity.

Everything surrounding the cloth was of pristine, natural hues — from the walls of The White Sparrow Barn to the clean lines used in the elements upon the table. Clear glass encased mid-century gold taper candles were placed atop lucite stands, while dinner plates were set across a light marble stone with metallic gold detailing. A lush floral arrangement swept the center of the table creating an organic feel with pops of elegant, neutral florals.

The team created this intimate gathering set for a bride and her groom who have just made the promise of sharing a life together. The bride wears a gown of simple, understated beauty. Her hair, a touch of formal while subdued with natural and loose textures, compliments the neutral colors used in the make up on her face. Rayven of Beauty and the Blush Artistry created this effortless, yet breathtaking, look for the bride.

Black Tie Halloween Wedding Inspiration

Wedding Design

Halloween is creeping up on us, and we can’t think of a better way to kick off the spirit than this elegant take on a Halloween wedding from Smith House Photography, Paige Kristian Planning, and Arteflora Design. The team used an updated palette of navy blue and burgundy with just a touch of gold, and a selection of fresh fruits made the perfect accent. The cake especially caught our eye — we love the idea of using gold foil!

black tie Halloween wedding inspiration - photo by Smith House Photography http://ruffledblog.com/black-tie-halloween-wedding-inspiration

From the photographer and stylist, Becki of Smith House Photography: When we began dreaming of a Halloween inspired wedding shoot, we knew we wanted to step away from the typical “orange and black”. So we replaced orange with golds (take a close look at the flatware from Anthropologie, it is to die for!) and black with navy (of course we kept SOME black, it just seemed to fit!) to create something unique and beautiful for the holiday. With burgundy as our main color accent and a venue with gorgeous greenery, we aimed to use organics and florals to bring in deep, dark colors to our Halloween inspiration; blackberries, figs, deep peonies. We wanted classic.

So without a pumpkin in sight, we present to you the gorgeous Black (Berry) Tie Halloween Inspiration Shoot at The Gallery in Houston, Texas.

Texas Wedding at The Union on Eighth

Romantic Weddings

Photos by:

Kristen Kilpatrick

We’re beyond ourselves to be sharing this beautiful wedding with you all, thanks to the talents of Texas vendors Kristen Kilpatrick, Style and Grace Events, and Verde Design. An adventurous bride and groom, sweet floral arrangements with blush pink and ivory blooms, touches of eucalyptus, and a family-style reception all add up to a totally inspiring day!

Texas wedding at the Union on Eighth - photo by Kristen Kilpatrick Photography http://ruffledblog.com/texas-wedding-at-the-union-on-eighth

From the videographer, Matt of FilmStrong Productions: I pulled up to the Sweet Lemon Inn just off the Georgetown historic town square, just in time for the rain to start pouring down. This morning was the definition of dreary, but thankfully the weather doesn’t dictate how much fun a wedding will be; it is up for the people in the wedding to do that. :) And just so you know, these are some of the best people. When you meet Miles it’s like meeting a breath of fresh air. Really healthy air at that, because he’s a personal trainer and incredibly full of energy. Gung-ho would probably be the best term I can come up with. Tempering Miles attitude, Christy has a calmer, go-with-the-flow demeanor that matches him well. She also possesses an incredibly caring spirit. Watching the two of them together is like being on an adventure. They may sit still for a moment, but the next second they may leave for an impromptu bike ride, camping trip, or Iceland vacation.

Is it any surprise that the venue they chose matches their style? When I first looked up the Union on Eighth, Google Street View listed it as an abandoned car repair shop. I was skeptical until I spoke to Miles and Christy and was informed that the building was recently updated to be a wedding venue, but before that it was a blacksmith, auto dealership, and transmission shop. If you up at the rafters you can still see car names written in chalk. Christy and Miles didn’t stop at just a cool wedding venue though. Miles got ready in a fully renovated Airstream trailer, hauled by a beautiful 1970s Ford Bronco. Christy opted for a slightly more traditional, but still incredibly unique, little bed and breakfast around the corner called the Sweet Lemon Inn. The reception styling at the Union on Eighth was pretty awesome too, complete with a hashtagged beer canoe (just watch the video to see what I mean).

Watercolor Garden Wedding Inspiration

Wedding Design

This styled shoot is quite the Monday treat! A naked cake adorned with real flowers, a lush bouquet tied with a raw silk ribbon, a delicate wedding dress with gorgeous back detailing — it’s just got it all. Jessica Gold Photography, Jen Rios Weddings, and R Love Floral Designs did some truly beautiful work here!

watercolor garden wedding inspiration - photo by Jessica Gold Photography http://ruffledblog.com/watercolor-garden-wedding-inspiration

From the event designer, Jen Rios Weddings: Weston Gardens in Bloom presented the perfect backdrop for this shoot with dreamy landscapes and soft lines. So that the watercolor details popped I chose a neutral white tablecloth and acrylic ghost chairs, almost to create a blank canvas for all of the design elements. We chose a soft palette of pastels to keep everything soft and romantic. The loose, garden inspired floral played off of and accentuated the garden surroundings.

Spring Wedding with an Illusion Lace Gown

Garden Weddings

Photos by:

Taylor Lord

Where to begin with Rory and Jason’s jaw-dropping wedding day? The soft pastel tones, the pops of gold, the Fort Worth warmth, and the woodsy accents are all memorable in their own rights, but we’d be remiss in our duties if we didn’t point out the show-stopping wedding gown by Yaki Ravid. All vendors truly shone in this wedding, including the always wonderful Taylor Lord and Shabby Rose!

From the bride, Rory: This wedding was planned with a whimsical, earthy yet romantic feel with a touch of sparkle. I strove to really let my personal style shine through. I wanted our guests to walk in and say “this is so Rory.”

Whimsical Garden Wedding in Dallas

Whimsical Weddings

Photos by:

Ben Q. Photography

When you’ve got a photographer as talented as Ben Q Photography, a bride who’s an event designer herself with Embrace the Day Events, and cheerful floral design by Holly Viles Design, how could you possibly end up with anything less than sheer beauty? Tie everything together with a Kate Spade theme and lots of color, and you’ve certainly got one for the books.

whimsical garden wedding in Dallas - photo by Ben Q Photography http://ruffledblog.com/whimsical-garden-wedding-in-dallas

From the bride, Amanda: As a wedding and event planner in Dallas, I’ve been given the opportunity to see a lot of different weddings – different colors, styles, themes, DIY projects, etc. When it came time to switch hats and be the bride, it was wildly overwhelming to narrow down the inspiration and decide on a style that fit my (then) fiancé’s and my personalities and depicted our love story well. And to be perfectly honest, I didn’t want to have a wedding, but my parents weren’t about to let me get away with that and I’m so thankful they didn’t.

It’s hard to beat the romance that garden weddings always have and the Dallas Arboretum & Botanical Garden is by far one of my favorite venues in Dallas so we knew without question, that would be our venue. Soon after the venue was booked, I reached out to some of my favorite vendors and had them “save the date” (aka send contracts). Combining the look and feel of the Arboretum with my husband’s love of modern style and my love for Kate Spade and bright colors, we decided “Kate Spade Garden Party” was the look we wanted to accomplish and our vendors loved the idea. We created the look by using bright colored flowers, fuchsia napkins, black & white striped table runners and personalized gold accents like a cake topper, chair signs & a gold foil print with our vows.

Personal touches are my favorite, so I jumped on the opportunities of buying prints that added a little something extra and printing photos of us to place around the reception. Of course, we didn’t get away without doing some DIY projects. One of my favorites was our “guest globe” that we found in a local antique shop and I hand painted. I also made the place card tassels and the place card display. As many people know, April and May were brutally wet and stormy in North Texas. Alex & I got married on the only sunny, rain-free Saturday in April and the day couldn’t have been more perfect. I am a daddy’s girl and also very traditional when it comes to the first time the groom sees a bride so I opted to do a first look with my dad and save the first time my groom saw me for when I walked down the aisle. Both were special moments that I’ll cherish forever. Our reception was epic. It was the ultimate dance party, kicked off by a surprise choreographer father/daughter dance to Uptown Funk. Like all good things, it came to an end and my groom and I shared an emotional and love-filled private last dance.

Fine Art Anniversary Session

Engagement Sessions

The couple in today’s anniversary shoot (shot by the wonderful film photographer Jessica Scott Photography) wanted to capture their love not only for their own memories, but to have something tangible to send back to their families in Taiwan. Spring was the perfect season for this, as the couple was surrounded by a field of blooming bluebonnets, Texas’ own state flower!

From the bride, Angelin: My husband and I met at Austin, but we are from the same home town in Taiwan. When we met in Austin, we felt like old friends already. We would like to remember Austin and share our joy with our families in Taiwan, so we decided to have an anniversary session during bluebonnet season. Since it was our first anniversary, we made cards and paper flowers to celebrate it. When we received the photos in a beautiful box sent by Jessica, we were so excited and thankful. The session was very precious.

Elegant Garden Wedding with Vintage Rentals

Romantic Weddings

When your mother owns a successful vintage rental company, Revive Vintage Rentals, it’s all but a guarantee that your wedding is going to be extra special. Carly and Jacob’s wedding was filled to the brim with beautiful details, bright floral decor, eye-catching calligraphy, and of course, the most perfect vintage rentals. No one could do this wedding better justice than Jessica Scott Photography and Fresh Urban Flowers!

Elegant Garden Wedding with Vintage Rentals - photo by Jessica Scott Photography http://ruffledblog.com/garden-inspired-wedding-with-vintage-rentals

From the bride, Carly: Our first decision was to have the wedding at my family’s ranch near Stonewall, Texas. The ranch belonged to my grandfather and his brothers and now it has been passed down through the family. It was such a blessing to get married on land that meant so much to me and my family. My mom and I did all designing and planning, and throughout the process we wanted an Elegant Organic Garden Party feel – full of pretty details, but still an intimate family affair.

Flower recipe: Some of the flowers that we used: poppies, garden roses, anemone, parrot tulip, ranunculus, rose, peony, dahlia. We wanted to do something a little different for the bridesmaids, so instead of traditional bouquets, we decided to tie floral arrangements onto antique books. We spent months tracking down antique copies of my bridesmaids’ favorite books and Sarah, with Fresh Urban Flowers, made perfect arrangements to complement the books.

My mom is a talented designer, and together we dreamed of what we called a modern, organic garden party. We used poppy red and jadeite green as a color scheme with gilded gold accents. We spent about a year searching Texas antique stores for vintage jadeite pieces and vintage mirrored trays (the kind that women once used on their dressing tables), which we used as centerpieces on some of the tables. On the reception tent walls, my parents installed stained pallet walls where we hung canvas and vintage European style mirrors and frames. Whitney Farnsworth, our calligrapher, did beautiful work writing some of our favorite verses and quotes on the mirrors. We also installed living walls with ferns surrounding the reception tent – we loved the idea of incorporating lush green ferns into the wedding decor.

My mom and I also spent all year collecting vintage books in the jadeite green and gold colors that were used on the tables. We added the poppy color with hand-dyed crochet table runners to our vintage farm tables. Due to the high chance of rain, we had to use a tent for the main reception area. We still wanted to extend the space to incorporate the land, so we placed our dance floor outside of the tent and added vintage seating areas outside from Revive Vintage Rentals. Additionally, we built three 20 foot tall rebar trees that gave the outdoors area lighting and a unique architectural element. The week of the wedding, floods and tornados almost took out the reception tent and many of the details we built, including the living fern walls. While all of these projects took a lot of time, it was so fun to be able to work together with my family and Jacob to hand-create details for the wedding.

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? From the beginning of wedding planning, decide what details and elements of your wedding are important to you and what is lower on the priority list – it makes it much less stressful for you and the people helping you. I knew that photography, paper products (our beautiful invitation suite was designed and painted by Whitney Farnsworth), and the decor details were a priority to me. This is also true for between the bride and groom – talk about what elements are important to each of you and make it a priority to incorporate personalities into your day. And lastly, enjoy the planning process. Although it can be stressful and overwhelming, it is a special time for you and your family to create something beautiful.

Wedding Music:
Our ceremony was held on a hilltop at my family ranch with a fantastic view. We wanted the songs to cause people to look out and enjoy and marvel at God’s creation. Jacob plays cello at his church, so we asked the rest of the guy he plays with to come play for the ceremony. The instruments included a guitar, french horn, and a mandolin, which was unconventional but perfect.

Texan Wedding with Vintage Charm

Romantic Weddings

Today’s wedding is everything an intimate wedding should be — full of heart and personality, teeming with details that capture the spirit of the couple. Pam and Shane supplied a variety of treats for their guests, including fresh brewed coffee in sterling silver sets and slices of pie wrapped up in the prettiest to-go boxes! Allen Tsai Photography, Keestone Events, and we+you did some amazing work here, as always.

From the event designers, Keestone Events: Fort Worth, Texas residents Pam Roberts and Shane Ollerman really brought their unique taste and fun-loving personalities to life with their intimate, creative country wedding. Keestone Events was fortunate enough to work with this charming, laid back couple for almost a year to create their perfect day. The first step was to find the perfect venue to set the tone for the whole event. When Pam and Shane set foot on the Flying V Ranch nestled in the hill country near Denton, they knew this hidden gem was just right for them. Family owned and run, this spectacular spot offered just the right combination of character and charm.

Once the venue was secured, we set out to transform the rustic country space into an elegant, vintage dinner party atmosphere. Pam and Shane broke the mold at every turn- renting long tables to facilitate a most unique family style dinner and bringing in crisp white linens and bright colorful centerpieces to dress up the quaint metal reception hall. Throughout the year of prepping and planning, we schemed constantly to pull in more unique touches. The end result was a sweet, simple ceremony overlooking a stunning hillside view adorned in a custom made floral garland. Guests watched from church pews relocated to an open air pavilion and ushered the happy couple off with bright festive confetti. While Pam and Shane worked with mastermind photographer Allen Tsai to capture this special moment, guests enjoyed cocktails and tasty stuffed avocado hors d’oeuvre in the adjacent biergarten.

At the conclusion of cocktail hour guests made their way into the reception hall to find their seat. As they entered they took in the beautiful white tables covered in an eclectic mixture of glass bottles and wooden boxes adorned with bright coral, fuchsia and peach blooms. The eye-catching long tables slinked around the room in front of a sheer white backdrop creating the perfect-sized dance floor. Overhead twinkle lights, a striking crystal chandelier and dozens of tea lights cast a subtle light for the perfect dinner ambiance. Distinctive antique tables and cabinets around the perimeter of the room added the perfect vintage touch and housed essentials like fresh brewed coffee in a silver serving set.

After Pam and Shane’s grand entrance all enjoyed a delicious family style meal on mismatched vintage china. After dinner and a little dancing guests were delighted to discover that the standard wedding cake had been replaced by scrumptious pie served by the slice in small woven baskets. As nobody likes pie without ice cream, a charming ice cream truck was parked right outside to make for the perfect dessert. Stuffed to the brim, guests captured memories in the photo booth and danced the night away with close friends and family. All good things must come to an end though, and after prying themselves away from the dancing and cocktails, the crowd cheered Pam and Shane through the doors amidst a blur of sparklers to a handsome vintage getaway car. Exhausted and as happy as could be, the newly weds climbed into the car and were whisked away into the night.

Handmade Bright and Eclectic Texas Wedding

DIY Weddings

If you haven’t heard of Texas’ The Plant at Kyle, now is definitely the time to familiarize yourself with this incredible venue. Its industrial design is the ideal backdrop for tons of whimsical decor, which is just what it got when Mindi and Jacob exchanged their vows here along with the help of Two Pair Photography and Pollen Floral Art.

From the bride, Mindi: The main things that made our wedding so special was the fact the the whole thing was conceptualized and created while I worked full time, was in my last semester of graduate school, and was able to keep the whole thing under $20k. Jacob and I met in 3rd grade when he popped my training bra… little did we know, that exactly 20 years later he would be popping the most important question of his life! Jacob is a jeweler by profession and made both my rings therefore, I knew I wanted an intimate handmade wedding as well.

Our wedding ceremony and reception was completely DIY… Between myself, mother in law, and her 2 best friends, the following was made completely from scratch: the paper flowers, the rosettes, pinwheels, signs, the photo wall, all of the paper lanterns, tissue balls, the garlands, the confetti balloons, the banners, and the kites. Due to student loans, we decided that we wanted to keep our wedding very small and intimate. We were able to stay within our $20k budget by keeping it DIY and asking our friends and family to help the day of.

High School Sweetheart Summer Wedding

Romantic Weddings

Photos by:

Katherine O'Brien

Christine and Zuy met in high school and dated for 8 years before Zuy proposed on the beaches of Mexico during a getaway trip (hello, dreamy proposal!). These high school sweethearts kept the romance going with a sweet and earthy wedding in Austin, Texas, captured by Katherine O’Brien Photography with amazing flowers put together by Whim Florals. This one’s a winner for sure!

From the bride, Christine: I had a vision the entire time I was planning my wedding, and our venue’s location helped me execute that perfectly. I have always loved vintage styled weddings, but I wanted to take it to the next step and make it more earthy and natural. I wanted our guests to feel warm and welcome once they stepped onto the property. My favorite part of the entire day was the ceremony; the setup was exactly what I imagined. From our pastor to the florist, they all understood every aspect of my vision. I couldn’t have seen it any other way; I guess you could say it was “Pinterest” perfect.

Zuy and I met in the hallways of our high school in 2005, it was the year that changed our lives forever. We went through a few important phases in life, high school, college, and soon to come, marriage. As if life couldn’t get much better, eight years later Zuy surprised me with a trip to Mexico where he quickly proposed on the beach at a wonderful dinner setting. The next day sitting on the beach I started doing what I do best — PLAN! I loved the planning process of the wedding, besides the few hurdles we surpassed I enjoyed every minute of it. It was almost like I didn’t want the day to come so soon, I just wanted to keep planning!

If I could, I would go on and on about every vendor of our wedding. Every single one of them was beyond friendly and helpful. I am very detail-oriented and I was able to accomplish this with the help of them and my family. I with the help of my mom, bridesmaid’s and wedding coordinator put all the décor from the candles, the props, to the signage together. It was all stuff I had either collected from vintage shops, my own apartment décor, or borrowed from the venue. This was my favorite part about the cocktail hour and reception, besides the food. (Guests are still talking about those mashed potatoes we had.) The cocktail hour was so fun to plan, two words — comfort and refreshing. I wanted it to feel casual with an elegant twist. We served Mac-n-cheese bites and sorbet, both comforting and refreshing! Our caterer was fantastic; I told them I wanted our dogs to be there, they are such an important part of our lives. So there was no better way than to name our specialty drinks after them! “The Marley” (masculine and bold) and “The Mia” (refreshing and feminine). I told myself I was going to take a step back and enjoy all the hard work and planning we had done. I wanted to actually get to see my wedding in “action” as most brides don’t get to do.

Minimalist and Moody Wedding Inspiration

Wedding Design

Photos by:

Loft Photography

If you ever need proof that “simplicity” and “boring” don’t go hand in hand, look no further than this shoot from Loft Photography, 36th Street Events, and Margot Blair Floral. This creative team put together a beautiful inspiration shoot that celebrates minimalism and romanticism in one fell swoop. Personally, we’re pretty attached to the bride’s dip-dyed Truvelle wedding gown already!

minimalist and moody wedding editorial - photo by Loft Photography http://ruffledblog.com/minimalist-and-moody-wedding-editorial

From the photographer, Loft Photography: We adore all things minimalist, neutral and romantic, and wanted to create a wedding inspiration shoot that reflected those things. The beauty is in the details for this simple, yet elegant shoot. Our monotone color palette of soft greys, creams and blues highlight the uniqueness of the distressed wall backdrop, and you find your eye being drawn to the accents of Marsala in the brides lips, grooms tie, and the table top wine glasses. The large blooms and touches of raw silk add a touch of romantic texture and soften this moody tablescape.

Modern Industrial Art Deco Editorial

Wedding Design

Photos by:

Joey T Photography

Today’s styled shoot is the result of mixing a bit of vintage, a dash of modern, and a hint of glam into one truly stylish event. Joey T Photography, Two Be Wed, and Oui Floral pooled their collective talents to highlight masculine vs feminine elements — IE, the angular lines typical of Art Deco contrasted against the bride’s tulle skirt and lush, tall centerpieces. Love!

modern industrial Art Deco editorial - photo by Joey T Photography http://ruffledblog.com/modern-industrial-art-deco-editorial

From the event designers, Two Be Wed: Inspired by The Astorian’s sleek industrial architecture and art deco touches, we set out to create an inspiration shoot that captured a modern and luxurious feel. One of our absolute favorite touches that really set the tone for the design, was the dress provided by Now and Forever Bridal Boutique. We knew as soon as we saw it, that this Hayley Paige dress was meant for what we were designing. The structure and design of the bodice, along with the flowing pleated skirt was the perfect combination of masculine and feminine. This carried over to our invitation suite provided by Bering’s Hardware. The lines on the stationery reflected the lines of the dress, and how could we resist the suite which was appropriately named “Gatsby.”

The amazing floral arrangements for the shoot were put together by Oui Floral. The designs included unusual and textural pieces that created a modern and architectural feel. The mirror and metal containers highlighted the industrial aspects of the venue. We also designed the table to be minimal and symmetrical, to where there would be nothing between you and the guest across from you, creating the ideal flow for conversation. This could be easily recreated on any long reception table. The most unique floral design was the groom’s boutonniere – nothing says like masculine like wrapped in metal.

A key element in the overall table designed was the hand selected, mix-matched china. We mixed two patterns from Bering’s, Robert Haviland Syracuse Taupe and Jaune de Chrome. While the Robert Haviland pieces provided an art deco inspired pattern, the Jaune de Chrome pattern was the perfect choice for a more masculine and industrial feel. This unique pattern is created by a special technique that combines rich, metallic glazes with refined colors. We had Sugary and Chic replicate this pattern onto the cake with an unusual shape to highlight the modern design and unique structure of the space.

Organic and Romantic Texas Wedding

Romantic Weddings

We love a crafty bride, and bride Karina is just about as hands-on as it gets. Not only did she take care of the calligraphy and the floral design (along with the help of her sweet bridesmaids), she also handmade the ceremony backdrop and pieced together her own veil. Karina and Jonathan’s wedding was captured by the wonderful Dana Fernandez Photography, and we congratulate the happy newlyweds!

From the bride, Karina: We wanted a fun romantic wedding. Nothing too formal or stuffy. We had one of our best friends marry us and everything was just so personal and special to us because we had a hand in making it ourselves.

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? Some advice we have for couples in the process of planning is to not sweat the little things. Some details will not turn out how you expected, it might rain, but all that matters is that you got to marry the love of your life. We had our hearts set on an outdoor, sunny, Spring wedding but the rain we’ve been getting in Texas made us move our celebration inside. We would recommend to always have a Plan B. It can never hurt to prepare for the worst. Also, if there is something you know you absolutely want on your wedding day you should find a way to make it happen. It’s the things that are really special to you that you end up remembering most vividly. And don’t worry about pleasing other people. Your wedding should be about celebrating yourselves and the love you have for each other.

Wedding Music:
Bridal Party Processional: “Here Comes the Sun,” The Beatles
Bride’s Processional: Pachelbel’s Canon in D
Marriage Certificate Signing: “La Vie en Rose,” Edith Piaf (We actually signed our Marriage Certificate during the Ceremony because we wanted to be officially married when we walked back down the aisle. It was just so romantic.)
Recessional: “First Day of My Life,” Bright Eyes
First Dance: “Time After Time,” She & Him
Father/Daughter Dance: “In My Life,” The Beatles
Mother/Son Dance: “What a Wonderful World,” Louis Armstrong
We knew we wanted our Mexican culture to be reflected in our reception so we had a Mariachi play during dinner. It was so much fun and our families loved it.

From the photographer, Dana Fernandez: Karina and Jonathan’s wedding was a photographer’s dream with mainly neutrals but added pops of color through the florals. Karina (the bride) was involved with planning and designing every little detail. She even did the florals, calligraphy on the invitations, the veil out of extra dress material, as well as the ceremony backdrop that was handmade with paper! Everything was so thought out and ended up being absolutely beautiful, even despite the rain storms that started in the middle of the reception. To end the night, they surprised all of the guests with a mariachi band to dance the night away.

Garden Wedding with Impeccable Floral Design

Garden Weddings

Few details make more of an impact on a wedding day than striking floral design, and Megan and Brad’s big day photographed by Sara & Rocky Photography had no shortage of it. The Southern Table filled the event with soft pink, fuchsia, and bright orange blooms, and used simple greenery runners on the reception tables to add the perfect bit of simplicity.

Soft Pastel Waterside Wedding

Wedding Design

When it comes to beach inspired weddings, we think there’s no finer color combination than aqua teals and peachy pinks. Today’s team of Sarah McKenzie Photography, Poppy + Vine Events, and Tamara Menges Designs used this color palette to mimic the hues at sea where the setting sun meets the water, and it proved itself to be a winning combo in a scene filled with eucalyptus runners, a dreamy wedding gown, and stylish watercolor invitations.

From the event designer, Rebekah of Poppy + Vine Events: Soft pastels and the quiet sounds of the sea were the inspiration for this styled shoot. Subtle shades of blue and green were infused with pops of pink peach to help mimic where the sun meets the water and it helped to show off the love of our “real life” couple that we used as our models!

Our inspiration came from an old watercolor photograph found in our family’s home, everything from the soft brush strokes to the way that the color barely kissed the canvas jumped out at us. There was no better way to recreate that same soft, romantic touch of the watercolor painting than to pair with Sarah McKenzie Photography since light and airy photography is her specialty! Vanessa Broomfield with Meet Vanessa was the creative behind the watercolor inspired paper suite and her attention to detail, right down to the hand drawn watercolor map and invitation suite is impeccable. Tamara Menges Designs provided the beautifully organic florals and the Eucalyptus branches provided an extra bit of whimsy that we were looking for the bride’s bouquet.

The only missing piece was the venue for the shoot and when we spent the weekend at friend’s property in Lake Jackson, Texas, we knew it was just the spot. With a wooden pier, miles of green grass and Spanish Moss hanging from the trees our little Southern hearts were smitten from the beginning of the weekend! We tried to mimic the flowiness of the water in the bride’s dress and BHLDN’s “Laverne” dress complimented not only the model but the airiness of the outdoor venue while the groom’s own suit brought a subtle touch of masculinity to our pastel color scheme.

Coral and Mint Dallas Wedding

Wedding Design

If there’s any color combination that makes me ready for summer, it has to be coral and mint. Today’s styled shoot from Rebecca Ellison Photography and Bridal Blooms of Fort Worth uses this palette to bring us some darling wedding inspiration straight from The Lone Star State, complete with coral charm peonies, striking wedding cakes, and a rope swing that’s too cute to resist!

coral and mint Dallas wedding - photo by Rebecca Ellison Photography http://ruffledblog.com/coral-and-mint-dallas-wedding

From the photographer, Rebecca Ellison Photography: Ever since I became a photographer about 5 years ago, I had wanted to photographer a styled shoot, so last February when I finally got caught up with my editing, I was able to bring that dream and make it a reality. I knew I wanted to do the shoot in Spring, because the weather in Spring in Texas is amazing, and I love all of the soft colors of Spring weddings. I chose to focus on Coral and Mint which was inspired by the china that I had bought specifically for this shoot.

Every vendor who helped with this styled shoot went above and beyond really brought my thoughts into reality. The table setting felt almost Gatsby like, while still maintaining a sweet southern charm. The couple I chose were an actual couple, which made the joy and emotions of the pictures so real, which I always love! I’ve gotta say, creating a styled shoot is a lot of work, but the result was simply amazing!!
