Julie Wilhite

If there’s anything we’ve learned from today’s styled shoot, it’s that effortless style can still look chic. What better way to kick off the work week than a sweet wedding editorial inspired by poetry? Today’s styled shoot came to fruition thanks to the words of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, with a talented team of Awake Photography, Makeup by Alli Kirk, and Glitter and Whiskey Events translating those words into beautiful scenery. It’s impossible to do these images justice with words, so let’s jump right in!

Intimate Wedding with Pup Ring Bearers

Romantic Weddings

Photos by:

Jenna McElroy

How adorable is this playful + intimate Austin wedding? Some might consider planning a wedding on a hotel balcony to be a challenge, but Katy and Charlie accepted it with gusto and the result has truly left us speechless! Soft, pastel blooms from Margot Blair created an exquisite balance for the dark, geometric furniture, and those halo-wearing canines made sure that nothing was lacking on this special day. We especially love the pink watercolor curtain that served as an eye-catching ceremony backdrop. Jenna McElroy captured every small detail from the velvet ribbons that decorate the bouquet to the flash tat bar at the larger reception. We can’t wait for you to see it all!

Berry Toned Thanksgiving Wedding Inspiration

Wedding Design

Photos by:

You know what they say — “Everything’s bigger in Texas,” even the Big Fake Wedding! You don’t want to miss this berry-toned Thanksgiving inspired affair that redefines autumn with its deep purple hues, pastel pumpkins and bohemian glam style. The bride, Jennifer, stunned in a flirty, off-the shoulder gown covered in lace from head to toe, which proved to be the perfect look for an outdoor, lakeside ceremony. Steering away from the traditional getaway car, Jennifer and JP took off in a lovely getaway boat as their guests headed into the barn for the reception. You’re now invited to fawn with us.

Romantic Airy Texas Wedding

Modern Weddings

Joy, pure joy exudes from the photos of the real wedding we are featuring today! Iris and Felix’s timelessly beautiful celebration is proof that tasteful simplicity can often make the biggest impact. Flashes of navy, green and gold are the perfect accent for the all-white palette of a barn illuminated by elegant chandeliers that make a serious (well, seriously awesome) statement. We’re slightly obsessed with Iris’ dreamy floral headpiece and BHLDN gown featuring an intricate design along the back – the perfect complement for the blooms from Flowers & Moore. We simply can’t wait for you to see all the images from Leah Golter Photography below!

Breezy Organic Wedding Inspiration

Wedding Design

There’s nothing fussy about this raw, nature-inspired shoot from Red Fern Photography. The simplicity of the table paired with the pure, effortless beauty of the bride’s gown offers a refreshing take that has us spinning with delight. Delicate blooms from Pollen run freely across the table in a way that mimics the verdant landscape, and even the loose hand lettering in the stationery suite moves with grace and ease! We’re utterly obsessed with the way all these elements blend together cohesively, as if they were always joined as one.

Moody Dramatic Wedding Inspiration

Wedding Design

Now that fall is finally here, we are fully embracing this berry-toned affair cultivated by creative minds like Lindsey Zamora and Poppy Lane Design. This dream within a dream, shot by Britni Dean Photography is candid proof of the power of film. Straying flowers and trailing ribbons rest gracefully upon a layered gown that pops vividly against a hypnotizing monochromatic backdrop, while poetic hand lettering in gold glitters atop a textured papyrus in deep teal. As we gaze upon the lavish tablescape, we can’t help but notice the divine fruits clumped artistically amongst the gold-rimmed stemware and pleated blue china. Talk about aesthetic!

From the photographer, Britni Dean Photography: Amanda Watson’s Workshop was my very first workshop experience and it truly marked a turn in my heart and in my business. I have never shot with such intention or motivation! I am so excited to share this all film moody wedding inspiration at Aristide in Mansfield, Texas.

Art Gallery Inspired Wedding Shoot with Agate

Wedding Design

Photos by:

Christa Elyce

We’re sure you’ve noticed the trend of using agate and geodes in wedding design, and if you can’t tell, we’re pretty big fans of it. Today’s styled shoot uses these natural elements in an art gallery setting, relying on striking, bold blues and hints of brass for a truly modern look. The team of Christa Elyce, Bella Luna Bridal & Occasions, and Dream Bouquet positively nailed it, don’t you think?

Art Gallery Inspired Wedding Shoot with Agate - http://ruffledblog.com/art-gallery-inspired-wedding-shoot-with-agate

From the event planner and stylist, Bella Luna Bridal & Occasions: Our Agate-Geo Styled Shoot was inspired by a chance visit to a local art gallery in Houston, TX. We wanted to find a unique event space beyond the normal look and feel of a hotel ballroom. The Deborah Colton Gallery had a wide array of high end art. Nothing stood out to us more than the piece titled, Primeval, by Dorothy Hood. The rich, jewel tone colors and texture were the perfect fit for an agate inspired shoot. We knew we wanted to embrace the texture and imperfection of agate slices and now had the perfect art piece to accompany the look.

Once we fell in love with the painting, we curated our shoot to reflect the rich colors and understated sophistication the piece so demanded. The base inspiration of fine art and an nontraditional wedding venue triggered the idea of submitting to Ruffled. We knew we needed to submit to a platform that appreciates something different and shows new, unique ideas to share with brides! After locking in the venue, and agreeing to carefully shoot this one of a kind masterpiece, we created a detailed style board and set out for the perfect team of vendors. With each, we presented the overall look and feel for the day and put together a stand out team of professionals who truly internalized our vision. The smallest detail, yet foundation of agate slices, proved to be most adventurous and challenging task yet! Agate slices are easily found at local boutiques as polished coasters or bookends. This simply wouldn’t do! The rough edges and textures are quickly lost with the perfection consumers crave. Luckily, during the planning process for the shoot, I found myself on the other side of the world in Thailand! I made it my personal mission to search all markets and beach-side stands for the perfect slices. On my last day in Phuket, Thailand, I was drawn into a shop with a multitude of treasures. There, on a bottom shelf, covered in layers of dust, were the perfect, sapphire blue gems!! I knew I’d met my match!! My husband quickly purchased them and we were on our way home!

It seems so trivial and simple, they are slices of rock most would say; this just wasn’t so. What this shoot needed was the uniqueness each had to offer and the imperfections to tie in the entire look. Our wonderful calligrapher scripted the names of guest and of course, “Bride” and “Groom”, to make the perfect place cards and guest favors; some of our favorite detail shots! Geometric and angels proved to be underlining elements throughout the shoot. From the neckline of the bridesmaid’s dress, to the shape detail and angles on the bride’s, we studied every piece before adding it to the collection. The Kendra Scott jewelry was a perfect accompaniment, with the angles and edges mimicking that of rocks and the organic, natural patterns presented in agate. For floral, we focused on a look to incorporate pops of colors with the hues of blues and reds the painting offered. Blue thistles, harsh and edgy, yet sophisticated, were utilized throughout. The florist provided stunning fringed tulips with a smooth outer surface, yet unexpected jagged edges, to provide an added to element to the expected simplicity.

We also played off of the geometric feel with the various vases and candle holders, as well as wine glasses with an acute edge (rather than a perfect cylindrical look), that created the tablescape. The facets on each gave a different dimension depending on one’s vantage point. The cake, was the perfect example of how agate and geometric inspired design go hand in hand. The cake designer utilized a marbling technique to portray the beauty of layers, and blending of hues, agate exudes. This, along with the geometric base, a gold brushed hexagon, was the perfect marriage of the two design elements. We always encourage brides to be open minded, yet stay true to themselves. Anyone can create a wedding that will leave an impression whether they choose to stay inside the box, balance on the lines of its edges, or completely jump outside!! A great team of vendors and solid inspiration board from the beginning allows one to create something unique, yet present a cohesive wedding look they will surely love!!

Early Morning Bridal Boudoir Inspiration

Wedding Design

Photos by:

Emily Katharine

The moments before a wedding are precious — there’s no better time to reflect on the new path on which you’re embarking with the love of your life. Amanda Watson Workshops and Lindsey Zamora dreamt up this beautiful scene of a bride taking a bit of time to herself before slipping into her wedding gown, with a peppering of floral decor by Poppy Lane Design and the dreamiest film photography from Emily Katharine. These images serve as testament to how gorgeous and delicate boudoir photography can be!

Early Morning Bridal Boudoir Inspiration - http://ruffledblog.com/early-morning-bridal-boudoir-inspiration

From the photographer, Emily Katharine: Wedding days are so impactful and getting ready to don the wedding gown should be celebrated. I was fortunate enough to attend the Amanda Watson Workshops in Dallas. On the first day, we captured intimate, early morning inspiration as Caroline prepared to meet her groom. The soft light that poured into The White Sparrow was perfect. Barefoot, Caroline tiptoed on the fresh, white wood. Her hair was tousled and curled by Beauty and the Blush. Her neutral makeup was pronounced with a soft smoky eye. Lindsey Zamora styled the scene, complete with organic greenery from Poppy Lane Design and burning candles. Of course, the veil and laced robes from Girl and a Serious Dream are incredibly dreamy. I cannot imagine anything more romantic to wear the morning of your wedding.

Downtown Dallas Rehearsal Dinner Inspiration

Wedding Design

My, oh, my do we love this styled rehearsal dinner from Amanda Watson Workshops. With several nods to the subtle beauty of nature, this “simple” tablescape makes a significant impact. Design gurus Lindsey Zamora and Poppy Lane Design balanced the crisp, clean lines of the vignette with the refined details of the marble-topped table, branch-backed chairs, and metallic gold flatware that graces each place setting. We’re thankful that Magnolia Adam’s Photography was there to show us that rehearsal dinners before the big day can shine just as bright.

Downtown Dallas Rehearsal Dinner Inspiration - http://ruffledblog.com/downtown-dallas-rehearsal-dinner-inspiration

From the photographer, Michelle of Magnolia Adam’s Photography: I had a blast attending the Amanda Watson Workshops this past month. This was my second workshop at Amanda’s assistant and I can’t brag on her enough for the way she structures her workshops. One thing I love is how the welcome dinner for the workshop doubles as a rehearsal dinner inspiration. I love how Lindsey Zamora styled the event and the leather details from Fig and Flourish. I felt the leather gave it an organic feel while making the evening personal. Being that it was a workshop, I was impressed with the challenge of shooting this dinner. Just next to us was a splash pad with kids running and shouting and on the other end of us was rush hour traffic. If all of that was not distracting enough, the entire building was reflective. We joked that it felt like a photographer’s reality show, but I am thankful for how all the images turned out!

Watercolor Greenhouse Wedding Inspiration

Wedding Design

An incredible greenhouse setting, delicate watercolor accents, and the lushest floral arrangements by Oh Deery are just a few of the highlights from today’s styled shoot, designed by Kindle & Gather. With a goal of creating a scene that’s simultaneously romantic, whimsical, and organic, this team (including Elisabeth Carol Photography) set to work on one of the most beautiful shoots we’ve seen so far this year.

Watercolor Greenhouse Wedding Inspiration - http://ruffledblog.com/watercolor-greenhouse-wedding-inspiration

From the event stylist and coordinator, Kindle & Gather: Our entire team was giddy as we saw this shoot come together! Inspired by the soft hues of a watercolor palette, we wanted to create an aesthetic that was romantic, yet whimsical and organic. The Greenhouse at Driftwood was the perfect location for this shoot with its array of plants and cacti. The natural surroundings of this beautiful venue created the perfect contrast to the elegant components we incorporated.

Modern Highlands Wedding Editorial

Wedding Design

This beautiful wedding editorial is just the thing we need for this September day, and how perfect is the styling for the upcoming change of the season? Kati Hewitt Photography and Love Birds Vintage Rentals & Styling collaborated on this Scotland-inspired shoot, bringing in all of the classic elements of the jaw-dropping elements of the Highlands terrain with a hint of modernity. Bride & Bloom drew in some of the most awe-inducing, berry-toned blooms and foliage for the arrangements; great complementary pieces for the earthy feel of this entire shoot.

whimsical wedding ideas - photo by Kati Hewitt http://ruffledblog.com/modern-highlands-wedding-editorial

From the photographer, Kati Hewitt Photography: There are few places in Europe as beautifully enchanting as the Highlands of Scotland, a fact not lost on the Mother-Daughter design team at the helm of Love Birds Vintage Rentals & Styling. “We lived in Scotland when Tiffani was a teenager,” explained Bridgette, “so we brought a lot of items home with us when we returned to the States. There is something about the history and character of those pieces that shaped not just this shoot, but our overall design aesthetic and how we approach wedding design in general. Scotland is all about history, and in a sense, weddings are as well. We want to help our clients create spaces that speak to their own story; their own history, and their families’ histories. That’s what weddings are, after all, taking his history and her history, combining them and then building upon that to create your own.”

bridal photos - photo by Kati Hewitt http://ruffledblog.com/modern-highlands-wedding-editorial

We took the idea of quintessential Scotland, with its intense green hills, beautiful ivy-lined rose gardens and stark gray architecture and then tempered it with a modern touch. There’s a lot of that going on in the region as well, always a push and pull between the traditional and the modern, and that idea extends to American wedding design as well. We really wanted to keep that traditional element, that sort of wink to the past, without creating a design that felt stuffy. Of course there are elements like the tartan throws that are decidedly traditional, but when you look at Kelli, her look is much more edgy. We wanted to show brides that it is possible to combine both in a way that works.

Working with Kati Hewitt of Kati Hewitt Photography, they were able to capture the essence of Scotland without the 8 hour plane ride. “Olde Dobbin Station was the perfect backdrop, and Kati captured it perfectly. It’s one of the oldest structures in the area dating back to the late 1890s. We knew we wanted to capitalize on that for this shoot. When we started adding in all the details, it just took us right back home.”

Garden High School Sweetheart Wedding

Garden Weddings

In our line of work, it never fails to warm our souls when we come across high school sweethearts. Newlyweds Chasni and Joshua couldn’t stop themselves from filling the day with little inside jokes, nods to their love for each other, and of course gorgeous visual treats for the guests in the form of the venue’s incredible Spanish moss. And did we mention Chasni’s Amsale wedding gown? Pinch me. Thank you to Virginia Ann Photography and Razzle Dazzle Event Decorating for your wonderful work on this day!

Garden High School Sweetheart Wedding

From the bride, Chasni: Of course when you start planning your wedding you want everything and Pinterest can definitely be at fault for that – LOL. I feel like the style I envisioned for our wedding was a mix between a shabby chic look along with boho touches here and there.

If I could best describe the look of our wedding I would say whimsical, elegant, and romantic. We didn’t have a theme but our color scheme was soft pinks, golds and ivory with touches of greenery everywhere! Oh and I’m such a DIY type of person, so with the help of my mother (and a few other family members) we tackled quite a few DIY projects throughout the wedding planning process. Some of the DIY projects included the wedding programs, our welcome sign, wedding invitations, the outdoor games – rings toss and cornhole boards, my bridal party’s jewelry – I made their necklaces and bracelets, “Here Comes the Bride” sign, my something blue keepsake garter with lace from my mothers wedding dress, and the list just goes on. My Dad is amazing and also helped with our DIY projects. He made me a palette coffee table that we used outdoors with a few other furniture pieces and it turned out great!

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? Start early! The earlier the better, I’m one of those brides that did everything early and it really helped me out as we got closer to the wedding. I got so many things out of the way, even the small things you tend to forget about. For instance, parents gifts, bridal party gifts, wedding jewelry and accessories. I even started buying a lot of my wedding decor early on. I started grabbing those things about a year before the wedding and even throughout the planning. So, when I started to get organized and pull out everything from storage a few weeks before the wedding, I realized I had so many decorations and I was able use them all over the wedding venue! It was perfect.

Processional: “Marry Me,” Train
First Dance: “Thinking Out Loud,” Ed Sheeran; “Island Girl,” Tribal Seed

From the photographer, Virginia Ann Photography: Chasni and Josh are high school sweet hearts which meant their day was full of so many “I know you so well” touches. From their gifts to each other at the beginning of the day, a pair of sunglasses for her since she loves the beach and an awesome watch for him since fashion is so much a part of his line of work as a stylist, to the little looks and laughs from inside jokes they kept whispering to each other during portrait time. Their bond was so clear. The venue, The Ranch at San Patricio, couldn’t have been more idyllic, full Spanish moss covered oaks swaying in the breeze surrounding the little white chapel with the sound of the water trickling by from the small brook just behind. Their color palette of blush, gold, and pops of navy made for a classic strong look against the organic green background. All eyes were on Chasni as she walked the aisle in her stunning Amsale bridal gown to her groom. This day was one for the books!

Getting right out and saying it, this wedding anniversary session is touching and a tear-jerker to say the least. We’re so thankful to have had Marsais share such a beautiful shoot representing real, deep love and Joy and Ben’s story is one for the ages. With the help of Jade Magnolia‘s boho chic design and Clementine‘s lovely blooms, this astounding couple certainly deserved a terrific way to mark their wedding anniversary and this shoot was it. Read their incredible story below and be sure to have a tissue handy to wipe those tears!

From the photographer, Marsais: It’s a special occasion working in the wedding industry when a couple immediately touches your heart, at such a young age, and inspires you all the same. That is the start of the story of Ben + Joy, who are celebrating their wedding anniversary. This is no ordinary love story, but one of courage and determination and a love that runs deep and wide.

At age 16 Ben was diagnosed with an extremely rare bone cancer. The battle would begin, taking his right leg to repair his spine and and giving him a 10% chance of survival. At age 18, he was diagnosed again, with odds that you can imagine, completely did not serve in his favor. He met Joy during this time and their friendship began and ultimately, united them. It has been a long, arduous journey for any young man to endure but 7 years in remission, he finally got to marry the love of his life. Unsure if this day would ever arrive, it was a celebration their friends and family will never forget.

Marking their wedding anniversary is extremely important for them. It represents the fight they have for each other, the will to overcome such heartbreak and the power that love and faith represent in their life. We couldn’t think of a better place to represent such growth and life in their session than having this anniversary shoot take place at the incredible Greenhouse in Driftwood. A very place which uniquely represents such incredible and rare treasures. A location filled with light and love. We wish Ben + Joy nothing but extreme happiness in their long life together! We are celebrating with you guys!

French Garden Inspired Wedding Editorial

Wedding Design

Photos by:

Ben Q Photography

Anything beautiful is bound to always catch our eye and that happens quite often over here. Anything French-inspired and beautiful is, without a doubt, going to be something we fall for and as a clear example, this Ben Q Photography wedding editorial is it. It’s inundated with soft, gauzy colors reminiscent of the French countryside, a divine dress, and a personal favorite, those sweet loaves of French bread that are so simple yet so perfect. Kudos to The Southern Table and Events by Kristin for this spectacle. Take us to France already!

French-themed weddings - photo by Ben Q. Photography http://ruffledblog.com/french-garden-inspired-wedding-editorial

From the event and floral designer, The Southern TableInspired by the rolling lavender fields of Provence, we chose a soft, serene palette of pale purples, greys, with pops of peach. The Southern Table combined garden roses, sweet pea, trailing clematis with heuchera leaves, lavender, and bearded irises in organic cement pots for an earthy, yet elegant feel. They paired these loose, organic arrangements with gold trimmed scalloped dinnerware and sleek gold flatware to create this elevated garden look.

Have you spotted the “bread” trend in weddings? We love the idea of couples taking handheld loaves of bread like these French bread loaves or croissants and adding them at each guest’s place setting. It’s a cozy gesture and it’s a fun alternative to just handing them a roll of bread during dinner.

Modern Festive Austin Wedding

Modern Weddings

Photos by:

The Nichols

What more could you ask for from this beautiful wedding? Sloan and Jose had a ultra-trendy venue, The Nichols as photographers, and an afterparty/second reception to celebrate their New Years’ Eve fête all-in-one. Stems brought in vibrant colors to amp up the otherwise cool-weathered Austin wedding day, and with the festiveness of the day, Olive and Belle reined in all of the hip details. We would have loved an invite to this glorious event!

Austin weddings - photo by The Nichols http://ruffledblog.com/modern-festive-austin-wedding

From the bride, Sloan: Right from the get-go we knew we wanted something different than a typical “all in one shot” wedding. We also knew that we wanted our wedding day to evoke two different feelings: Ceremony, intimate. Reception, non-stop party.  Having lived together for three years before getting married, we really wanted to get into the heart of a wedding and marital union from a non-traditional, non-religious standpoint. We felt we could achieve this with a very intimate ceremony that felt both personal and communal. It was important to us that our family and guests knew how appreciated their roles in our lives to the point of our marriage meant and how much we look forward to having them in our futures.

Initially, we wanted a private ceremony one night followed by a reception the following night, but had a hard time wrapping our heads around how to not make guests feel excluded from the ceremony. When our ceremony venue, Union on Eighth had New Year’s Eve as one of their only remaining available dates in 2015, the idea of a split event on the same day was born.

We decided to host a morning ceremony followed by brunch at The Union on Eighth and a reception later in the evening at Easy Tiger. This turned out to be the best decision we made for our wedding day. It allowed us to have time with our guests twice that day which made the day feel all the more special. It was also really fun for our guests. We got to hear stories about their adventures between the ceremony and reception, how they hung out with other guests between each event, and how it made their New Year’s Eve so unique.

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? Take your time and go with your gut. Jose and I had a long engagement, 2.5 years. Throughout that time we came up with a million ideas, viewed over 20 venues in multiple cities, etc. I’m so glad that we took our time, did our research, and didn’t jump into anything that didn’t feel right. Hire a coordinator, or if you can fit it into your budget, a planner. We ran into Sydney of Olive and Belle at a mutual friend’s wedding the April prior to our wedding. After a few months of thinking I could handle everything on my own I sent a desperate, ragged message to Sydney inquiring if she would be interested in working with us. Thank goodness she said yes! Our day wouldn’t have been as seamless or anywhere near wonderful if it weren’t for her.

Stand your ground, but also learn to pick your battles. One question I would repeat in my head during times of conflict or battling preferences was “If this happens/doesn’t happen at your wedding will you be devastated?” While that sounds a bit extreme, it allowed me to figure out what I absolutely had to have, what I could compromise on, and what I absolutely did not want.

If possible, write your own ceremony. My godfather was a gem and officiated our wedding. He, his husband, Jose, and I collectively had a hand in the writing and planning of our ceremony. We chose to honor our family and friends with community vows and a ring warming passing. We also infused a loose take on a hand tying ceremony. It meant so much to us to be married on our terms, in a ceremony that was uniquely ours, and even more, that it was delivered by someone who means so much to us.

Modern Minimalist Dallas Wedding

Garden Weddings

Ghost chairs, a seating chart arrangement with a unique neon sign, and one of the sweetest couples we’ve seen are some of the reasons why we love this Dallas affair photographed by Sarah Kate Photographer. With Stefanie Miles executing all of the details of the day, Rae and Kurt planned a modern wedding day with the most elegant color palette. To complement it, bows + arrows incorporated white and ivory blooms and heaps of botanical greens to add to the lovely minimalism of the day. What a stunner this fête was!

Dallas wedding venues - photo by Sarah Kate Photographer http://ruffledblog.com/modern-minimalist-dallas-wedding

From the photographer, Sarah Kate Photographer: Rae and Kurt’s wedding was brimming with minimalist inspiration designed by Stefanie Miles and lush tropical inspired foliage by Bows & Arrows that added just the right amount of color and texture.  The couple hosted a small family wedding ceremony in their own backyard and chose The Nasher Sculpture Garden to host a large reception the next day!  Wolfgang Puck was there to serve up all kinds of fantastic dishes for the guests and The Grand Bevy bartended specialty beverages including edible cocktails.  Guests dined and danced among the sculptures and Sarah Kate captured all the fun!

Romantic Wedding Inspiration in an Old Textile Mill

Wedding Design

Photos by:

Charla Storey

First things first: today’s shoot has some beautiful photography by Charla Storey, no doubt about that. Secondly, we completely understand why Grit + Gold wanted to get first dibs on having an inspiration shoot in The BRIK on the verge of their grand opening. This place has such a lovely blend of industrial, modern, and vintage, and those wide open spaces are perfect for crafting whatever tablescape styles to your heart’s content. Which is exactly what they did! With superb floral work from Oh Deery, they transformed this textile mill-turned-epic wedding venue into a romantic spot, complete with a vintage-style wedding dress, gauzy fabrics on anything that would stay put, and yummy eats.

vintage wedding dresses - photo by Charla Storey http://ruffledblog.com/romantic-wedding-inspiration-in-an-old-textile-mill

From the wedding planner, Grit + Gold: When this team hears about a new venue on the brink of opening, what do we do? We pull a fab team together and christen the place. The BRIK, an old textile mill with raw wood floors, shabby white brick walls, and huge windows lends the perfect formula to create the most romantic of settings. I wanted to style several food displays in the shoot to really give the images living and breathing qualities rather than just perfectly staged displays. I wanted it to feel as though each image was interactive with the audience. Something that the person looking at it would relate to. Possibly the reminiscence of a grandmother or watching mom prepare a table at home with a great spread of food. Then taking those emotions and infusing them into a bride’s most important day.

Cobalt and Orange Midcentury Wedding Inspiration

Wedding Design

Photos by:

Kayla Snell

Oh this inspiration is a must to take a gander at. When you peruse through the photos, you’ll find an unparalleled shoot of bright colors, muted tones, elegantly-made blooms by Davy Gray, along with a Victorian-esque bride and a mod groom. If you ever wondered what a moody and ethereal wedding would look like with hints of modernity, this styled shoot collaboration by Kayla Snell and Bird Dog Wedding is it.

From the event designers, Bird Dog Wedding: Tucked away in East Austin, between local coffee shops and off-beat food trucks, sits a hidden, idyllic space called 1102 East. The venue features a cozy bungalow and modern industrial details with a bohemian flair throughout. After stumbling upon it one Saturday afternoon, we knew it was the perfect place for our midcentury modern bohemian styled shoot.

dreamy wedding inspiration - photo by Kayla Snell http://ruffledblog.com/Cobalt-And-Orange-Midcentury-Wedding-Inspiration

Photographer Kayla Snell and I teamed up to create a colorful, fun wedding with the hope of inspiring modern, bohemian brides who are currently planning weddings for this fall. Brightly colored, hand-painted stationery details complemented a bold, black envelope designed by Goldie Design Co. Our bride Dagny Hines was all dolled up with a loose updo from Kristi Drake and a moody makeup look created by Lauren Davis at Hint of Shimmer. Valerie Wolf at Davy Gray created the perfect floral hairpiece that Dagny could easily wear all night long. Dagny wore an ethereal, silk dress from Saint Isabel that featured beaded and lace sleeves and a gorgeous open back. Groom Casey Vanderstoep was dressed to the nines in a navy suit and striped shirt and tie from ByGeorge Austin. His casual, comfortable suit is a must-have for a low key Austin wedding.

Romantic Wedding Shoot Turned Proposal

Wedding Design

When we receive a beautiful shoot like this one from Courtney Leigh Photography, we know we’re already in for a treat. In this editorial, Chalie and Andrew were surrounded by lush, woodsy elements that were enhanced through Blush and Vine‘s lovely bouquets and floral arrangements, along with the dreamy tablescape by Jade Magnolia. As we dove more into it, we found out that this wedding inspiration turned into an epic marriage proposal caught on film and we got even more giddy than we already were. There’s no better way to end a shoot like this one!

romantic wedding ideas - photo by Courtney Leigh Photography http://ruffledblog.com/romantic-wedding-shoot-turned-proposal

From the photographer, Courtney Leigh Photography: This beautiful wedding inspiration shoot was inspired by earthy elements, neutral tones and pops of gold and dusty blue. The best part? This styled shoot romantically turned into a real life proposal for the sweet couple, Chalie and Andrew. It was such a memorable moment to capture and the moments following the proposal are my absolute favorite images from the shoot. This one definitely goes down as an all time favorite of mine throughout my photography career and so many talented teams helped bring my vision to life.

Tropical Cuban Wedding Inspiration

Wedding Design

Bright colors, a lovely dress, and delicious eats make up this fantastic shoot concocted by Amber Vickery Photography and Uptown Events and Travel. Cuba was the foundation of this beautiful shoot and we feel transported there already. We’re loving all of the brilliant shades of orange, yellow, and pink shot against the stark white background of One Eleven East. The colors stand out so perfectly. Not to mention, pairing all of the stand-out shades used with the moody indigo blue was spectacular! Petals, Ink. definitely brought it all together with their lovely floral creations using the most colorful flowers from the tulip and orchid families.

From the photographer, Amber Vickery Photography: Together with Uptown Events, One Eleven East and many other amazing Austin based vendors, we planned a very Cuban/Tropical inspiration shoot. We took inspiration from vintage Cuban tile work, tropical plants and florals, and the architecture of Cuba. Finding so much great indigo colored architectural while researching Cuba, we knew we wanted to pull in that deep blue to anchor the shoot and throw in a massive splash of color in contrast. Gretchen with Petals, Ink. blew us away with her use of tropical florals. I absolutely love how it all came together.

Romantic Elopement in Tehuacana

Wedding Design

This shoot is all about romance and industrial style meeting and creating a beautiful outcome. Jeff Brummett Visuals was the photographer in charge and he captured the most astonishing shots of this dramatic editorial. Using Grit + Gold‘s planning and design skills and the creative floral handiwork by Something Pretty Floral, this antiquated school turned into an edgy and exciting backdrop. It was decorated in deep reds, snaking vines, and fine touches of gold for a slight pop for the eyes. The flowers were beautifully moody in the darkest reds and pinks imaginable. To break up the dramatic color palettes for the florals, sweet blush pink blooms were incorporated in. If you’re looking for wedding inspiration with darker tones and a slight Victorian feel, this shoot is definitely it!

From the event designer, Grit + Gold: Our design lends towards a dramatic and romantic elopement somewhere in Texas. The backdrop is an old school built in late 1800’s which now brings many artists from all over who admire capturing its beautiful ornate architecture and patina’d walls. Our bride’s boudoir look was a simple lace silk slip and layered tulle skirt. She changed later for a Rachel Zoe lace dress in black. Simple details like trellising greenery and heavy candlelight give off the sense of romance.

Chic Texas Garden Wedding

Romantic Weddings

Everything is bigger in Texas, they say. After peering at this wedding shot by Nicole Berrett Photography, I think everything seems much more romantic, too. I’m not quite sure how many times I scrolled up and down through these photos, taking in all of the delightful pops of pink that stand out among all of the outdoor greenery and hello! Check out all of the peonies and garden roses done by Bows & Arrows. Pairing the table florals with gold flatware and vintage plates is what tops this lovely Texas wedding by After Yes Weddings for me. It’s like Taylor took an inspiration board of all of our wedding dreams and brought them to life!

Chic Texas Garden Wedding - photo by Nicole Berrett Photography http://ruffledblog.com/chic-texas-garden-wedding

From the photographer, Nicole Berrett Photography: Taylor & Austin are two of the kindest people you’ll ever meet, and their wedding fit them so perfectly. It was the kind that felt just as beautiful as it looked. After Yes Weddings helped the couple plan and coordinate every little perfect detail. The dinner was al fresco by beautiful candlelight and amazing florals by Bows & Arrows. The bride & her mother own a dance studio, and so obviously dancing was going to be a big part of the day! Emerald City Band, made it an unforgettable night of music and dancing!

Southern Oak Tree Wedding Inspiration

Wedding Design

There is really nothing more beautiful than giant southern oak trees, Spanish moss hanging from them, and sprawling land behind it. Beyond a doubt, Erin Wilson Photography knew just what she had in mind for these trees when she dreamt up this gorgeous inspiration. Together with Angela Sostarich Photography, the two photography mavens shot an editorial complete with romantic colors, swirling fabrics, and lush florals. My excitement for this shoot is through the roof!

Southern Oak Tree Wedding Inspiration - photo by Erin Wilson Photography and Angela Sostarich Photography http://ruffledblog.com/southern-oak-tree-wedding-inspiration

From the photographer, Erin Wilson Photography: A Texas girl living in an Arkansas world. I grew up in Houston Texas and because of the love of my life I relocated to Arkansas to his home town and photograph weddings all over the state. A big part of my heart still yearns for Texas and southern oak trees with spanish moss and just the feeling of the deeper south. I collaborated on a very southern style yet stylish and fresh shoot with many Houston Texas wedding vendors to put together this green, fresh and romantic editorial. We were inspired by shades of green, creamy blush, soft billowy fabrics, romantic florals, soft watercolor tones and the gorgeous oaks at Houston Oaks Country Club.

Romantic Lace Wedding Ideas - photo by The Lockharts http://ruffledblog.com/romantic-garden-wedding-ideas

From the photographers, The Lockharts: When organizing this inspiration session, our vision was to create a romantic environment that embraces the organic beauty of nature. A garden setting was a must since it easily encompasses this dreamy, outdoor vision. Chandor Gardens in Weatherford, Texas not only created a gorgeous earthy scenery with its greenery and flowers, but the formal English accents, as well as ancient Chinese architecture made it into the picture-perfect romantic environment.

Spring Watercolor Wedding

Romantic Weddings

Such a stunning wedding by Anna Smith Photography! There’s nothing quite like a classic wedding color palette of black and white and keeping the florals fresh with a white-and-green theme. It’s probably one of my most favorite combinations and it gets me every time, especially since I’m reminded of my own wedding day colors! I love how Madison and Chris’s big day worked in such timeless elements with very modern ones like the dapper gentlemen in tuxedos, the traditional church wedding, Madison’s eclectic bridal style (who else loves her short and textured hairdo?), and their gray-hued wedding stationery with that fun pop of orange watercolors. This wedding by Pick Me! Weddings is a great example of when different wedding styles come together so well!

From the photographer, Anna Smith Photography: Madison and Chris were such a joy to spend the day with. I first med Madison during our boudoir session, which rocked by the way. Madison had such a classic, elegant taste for the wedding day and wanted to bring in some of the couple’s cultural heritage. She fell in love with an Israeli wedding dress at a trunk show and never looked back. The dress designer was Inbal Dror and her wedding dress made for a stunning, modern and classic beauty with an open back. With help of Rami Carter from Pick Me Weddings, who traveled all the way from Colorado to style the event – the day turned out to be gorgeous.

The wedding ceremony was held at one of the oldest churches in Waco, First Baptist followed by the reception at the most up-scale Waco venue, The Ridgewood Country club. Large chandeliers and hardwood floors with beautiful lush flowers and colorful up lighting brought the day together. Parchment and Paper stationary designed her invites as well as menu place settings. Each bridesmaid wore a different dress which reflected a Grecian style in light of the groom being Greek. LoveShackFancy & Adrianna Papell were the bridesmaid dress designers. Having a large bridal party of 8 bridesmaids and 8 groomsmen is just a small reflection of how much love they received on their wedding day.

They wanted this to be a special day, but most of all fun for their guests who traveled from near and far. After dinner was served to the 200 – something guests, the highlight of the night was the gorgeous wedding cake made by the very talented Frosted Art Bakery. This was one of the most delicious cakes I have ever had! The couple’s favorite moment of the night was passing out sunglasses and having a huge dance party. Everyone loved putting these on and joined in on the fun. Overall this was such a gorgeous day and we lucked out with the weather being sunny on the first weekend of March. The sparkler exist was a treat because the exit car belonged to the bride’s grandfather!

Texas Chapel Wedding

Romantic Weddings

Photos by:

Ben Q Photography

Give me a sweet countryside wedding chapel to look at and I’m all set. This chapel on The Brooks at Weatherford is simply picturesque and Ben Q Photography certainly captured its radiance! I fully see why Morgan and Joey chose this location to say their I Do’s: the beautiful views, the open setup giving everyone that good Texas air, and not to mention that interior color palette! To add to the overall beauty of the venue, All Things Swanky pulled in beautiful garden roses, lisianthus, eucalyptus, and dahlias to the bridal bouquet and the table arrangements. Meanwhile, Morgan and Joey DIYed to their heart’s content, and even pulled Morgan’s dad in to create each wood piece found all over their wedding. Weddings are certainly a family affair!

Texas chapel wedding - photo by Ben Q Photography http://ruffledblog.com/texas-chapel-wedding

From the bride, Morgan: We knew from the beginning that we wanted to keep our wedding small and quaint; we wanted to want to hug every single person there. With that, we wanted it to be welcoming and warm to our family and friends. As far as the look goes, I wanted it to be casual, rustic and elegant! The venue itself is very rustic and inviting, so that fit with my vision of our wedding. For color scheme, I really loved neutrals with pops of amber, blushes/rose colors and whispy greenery. I wanted things to look elegant while still having an element of looking like it was all fresh cut from the garden with piecey centerpieces, whipsy cross and mantel swag, and thought out details.
