DIY Treat Bags

Hope everyone had a good weekend! Today we’ll be sharing more entries from our DIY Contest, so posting will be at full speed. We received so many entries that we may not be able to post them all, but we selected about 20 projects that will for sure be posted between today and tomorrow. We’ll be back to our normal schedule later this week, so not to worry! We’ve got some pretty amazing weddings lined up.

Remember voting won’t start till all entries are published, so keep your eyes peeled for the voting announcement!

First project up was sent by Kayla from Inkling Paper. She made a quick and easy favor bag embellished with a vintage map “ribbon”, and also shares a free download to complete the package.

What you’ll need:

- Vintage Map (I used a super old thomas guide)
- Paper lunch sack
- Glue stick
- cutting mat
- X-acto knife
- Pencil and ruler
- Ribbon
- Zig-zag scissors (optional)
- Circle punch
- Circle template (download favor label.pdf)

Instructions:

Step 1: Using your cutting mat, X-acto knife, and ruler cut a strip from your map (I made mine about 1″ by 6″). Trim the ends into an inverted “V” if desired.

Step 2 (optional):
Using your Zig-zag scissors (or pinking shears), cut about 1/2 and inch off the top of your paper bag to give it a little dimension and detail.

Step 3: Fold the top of your paper bag over on itself (I folded mine over about an inch).

Step 4: Open up your bag, fill it with treats, local goodies for out of town guests, or your wedding favors. Close of the bag and refold the flap along the crease you already made.

Step 5: Using a glue stick, glue the back side of your map strip. Fold the strip glue side down over the top of your treat bag with the “special” end facing the side you folded the paper bag flap towards.

Step 6: Cut 2, 3″ lengths of ribbon. Lay them “criss-cross-applesauce” on top of your map paper on the front flap of the bag.

Step 7: Using your circle punch, punch out an image from the downloadable template (you can scale the templates up or down to fit the size of your punch). I used a 1.5″ punch.

Step 8: Smear glue on the back of the paper circle. Flip it over and press it down firmly on top of your ribbon. The glue on the back of the paper circle should be enough to hold the ribbon down nicely.

Wedding Menu Template

I have to admit I have a slight obsession with Ikea. Wedding bells and whistles instantly rang, quite literally, when I saw this new frame. The Ikea Tolsby frame costs 99 cents and is double sided, which makes for the perfect table number and menu stand. Carolynn from Two Brunettes designed a floral patterned border for you to type in your wedding menu or table numbers, or both if you would like. Made to fit Tolsby frames, just type in your menu or numbers (on Word, Photoshop, Illustrator, …), print and cut. The template is available in both .jpg and .pdf.

Free Printable Air Mail Envelope and Save-the-Date Card

Look what I have here today! This printable template makes a 4×6 envelope and it comes with an adorable card that reads “look how far we’ve come” and a flying paper plane for those long distance engagements! I printed the envelope on Kraft paper and really liked the combination, but you can print it onto white cardstock or any color paper you wish. The template for the envelope prints on 11×17 paper. The blank card was printed onto a pale gray cardstock to contrast the Kraft paper (can you tell how much I like gray?)

The blue “Par Avion” stamp below is actually a dingbat you can download for free on dafont.com called Dead Letter Office.

As promised, our first of many free exclusive downloads! This adorable square envelope and blank notecard were designed by our fabulous Ruffled team member Julie. They would make lovely Thank You notes, but you can also use them as Save the Dates or even wedding invitations if you would like. I am loving the ocher and mocha color combo (lots of ideas start flowing in my head with those coffee bean shaped leaves!) – great colors for a chic Fall wedding! I printed the set on a light gray textured paper and it came out beautifully. Paper used was Nekoosa Linen in Gray.

Who doesn’t love pretty stationery? Yasmine of A Print a Day made these gorgeous printable notepads and labels. (click on the image to download)

All files are in PDF format. If you do not have Adobe Acrobat yet, you can download it for free here. The mushroom labels are 4″x3.44″ and the lace labels are 4″x2″. You can buy sticky sheets and cut the labels with a paper cutter. The notepads are standard 8.5″x11″ cut in half vertically (4.25″ wide).
