Bright Purple and Pink Wedding in New Jersey

Blue Label, Elegant Weddings

Purple and pink make for some seriously eye-catching wedding design, and when you add in a bit of gold? Talk about fairytale perfection. Off BEET Productions and MDS Floral Design helped bring everything together for this New Jersey wedding with some of the most stunning floral arrangements we’ve seen in ages!

From the bride, Kelly: Although we had a large guest list (210 confirmed guests) we still wanted the wedding to feel very intimate and personal. We wanted people to feel that every single detail had a personal touch. The guest comments about decor/over feeling was that it ‘was so you (two)!’ The wedding very much reflected our personal aesthetic and personalities. We wanted the style of our wedding to feel whimsical with a romantic/rich color scheme

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? Don’t be afraid to blaze your own trail or break tradition. Doing what you both love and what makes you happy will make your wedding feel unique and you! This will make your wedding memorable for your guests as well. When deciding who would officiate our wedding, we really struggled. Do we get married by our family priest as all of our previous family members had? Do we have a professional officiant? The it became glaringly clear; we wanted the brides Aunt Margy to marry us. This Aunt has a very special relationship with the couple both individually and as a couple. Although this decision was not what was expected, it was the thing that made our wedding so ‘us’ and extremely personal.

Modern Garden Wedding with a Pastel Palette

Wedding Design

Photos by:

For the Love of It

Who says garden weddings are just for the outdoors? This styled shoot from For the Love of It and Two Sisters Events shows us how easy it is to bring gorgeous floral design and lush settings inside. A tablescape with fresh fruit including cherries and peaches is just the icing on the cake!

From the event designers, Two Sisters Events: There’s nothing better than taking two very different design inspirations and merging them into something fun and unexpected. For this Wedding Inspiration shoot by Elyse Dawn and Besty Dawn of Two Sisters Events, we took the very popular Boho trend and lightened it up by adding some structure with a pastel palette and classic, “preppy” lines and elements. The style and color palettes of weddings in the 1960s also inspired this shoot.

This era inspired a pastel palette, a modern Boho feel is added in the grayed-pastel shades. The bridesmaids, in their gorgeous flowing dresses from brideside.com by Joanna August, are the perfect mix for the vision. Hair and make-up artist, Tabatha Redar, gave the maids voluminous up-do’s mixed with the cat-eyes, giving a formal, yet exotic feel to the ladies. Each bridesmaid picked out her own dress style and jewelry, and they were asked to layer the jewelry on! By allowing them to pick out certain elements of their attire, each bridesmaid’s personal style comes through. In lieu of bridesmaid bouquets, floral crowns were used to add whimsy to this relaxed and fun look.

The bride’s stunning gown is named Maracaibo by YolanCris, from Dimitra’s Bridal Couture. It’s a softer take on a mermaid gown, with layer upon layer of beautiful lace that cascades down into a flowing train. The body-hugging top is a modern take on the traditional idea of flowing Boho dresses. The lace-trimmed veil adds a more formal touch for the ceremony. The veil also picked up the Spanish vibes from the dress, giving an eclectic touch to the bridal party. The men pull formality into the day with their black tuxedos from GQ Formalwear. A mix of patterns, colors and textures in the custom bow ties and pocket squares from Peter Field relax their look, while adding to the interesting variances throughout the decor. Chez, located in the heart of downtown Chicago, was the perfect space for this inspirational shoot! In its newly renovated location Chez offers a clean, modern space that showcases any event’s decor beautifully. The juxtaposition of white brick and cement floors with flowing fabrics, warms tones, and brass accents creates a modern, but approachable atmosphere. The ceremony arch designed by Two Sisters Events picks up on the industrial feel of the space with wood and metal, the pastel florals, along with tattered ribbons and brass chains add to this electric mix of two worlds.

The reception table design is opulent and eclectic, sitting under flowing billows of soft drapery. Layered table clothes in muted tones are the perfect base for this table that is overflowing with a mix of sumptuous and beautiful wedding essentials. Not only are the vases for the floral arrangements mixed- and-matched in style and material, but the floral types and arrangement styles mirror this, and add to the formal, elegant, yet fun vibe of the entire event. Pops of blue from the satin napkin and bright, sweet nectarines are the perfect pop of color at each place setting. A slightly different take on a naked cake is shown with soft pink frosting between the layers of yellow cake, and topped with a large soft Dahlia.

Coral and Emerald Wedding Inspiration

Wedding Design

With its soft coral and calming aqua hues, today’s styled shoot from Cannon Candids Photography and Jstat Design has us longing for spring. While we wait for things to warm up a bit outside, this is a fantastic way to tide us over! We’re particularly taken with the wedding bouquet — it took us a few good looks to realize that it wasn’t made with real flowers, but rather silk ones with vintage brooches.

From the photographer, Cannon Candids: This summer Cannon Candids Photography had the opportunity to shoot at a new up and coming venue in Barberton, Ohio, The Piggery at Anna Dean Farms. After shooting their first wedding there, they knew that they wanted to go back. The space was simple and full of beautiful natural light. The designer of the shoot wanted to take the fresh rustic space and fill it whimsical colors and sparkle! Elyse’s Boutique, Suzie Kays Keepsake Brooch Bouquets, Sitting Pretty Linens, Jstat Design, and Cannon Candids Photography worked together to create this stylized shoot. We were inspired by the natural accents of everyday life and wanted to reveal nature’s beauty of glittering dew, natural light, and vibrant greenery.

Purple Wedding at Philadelphia Horticultural Center

Romantic Weddings

I’ve really started to love all shades of purple over the past year or so, and weddings like this one are certainly part of the reason why. Emily and Michael’s Philadelphia wedding was jam-packed with beautiful details and featured a true dream team including Sharyn Frenkel Photography, Sarah Kudlack of Juniper & Dash, and Love n’ Fresh Flowers. Just wait until you get a peek of Emily’s wild dahlia bouquet!

From the bride, Emily: Our wedding story began after we got engaged, I started planning almost immediately. I am a big worrier/planner/nutcase. I knew almost right away that I would need a lot of help. A wonderful wedding planner, Sarah Kudlack, came to my rescue. She didn’t take over and plan my wedding but she helped me focus and talked me down when I needed some support. Michael and I spent a lot of time looking at different vendors and making some tough decisions. Our original venue fell through months before our wedding. That threw us for a huge loop. We ended up at the horticulture center in Fairmount Park and it was a complete blessing. The venue was incredible.

Originally Michael and I had wanted a very intimate small ceremony with close friends, maybe in a field somewhere with a picnic afterwards. Wellll… we ended up with a 160-person wedding in a greenhouse with a 5 star caterer. Not exactly what we originally thought but amazingly, with the help of our planner, it ended up being exactly what we wanted. Up until the day before, I was nervous that it would feel like we were attending someone else’s wedding. But as I was standing with my dad at the beginning of the aisle hearing Beyoncé’s “Halo” being played on the violin, I let out a sigh of relief because I knew at the end of the aisle was my almost husband waiting for me. After the ceremony, Michael and I took a moment for ourselves in the bridal suite and reflected on how well the ceremony went and how happy our friends and families looked. Now, it was time to party! Michael and I spent a lot of our reception saying hi to guests and eating delicious food. All the details we had planned payed off. We danced the night away to our incredible band and as the last song played, Michael looked at me and said “this has been the best day of my life”.

Best moment hands down was our first look. We decided to have a first look because I didn’t want to spend our reception and cocktail hour taking a bunch of pictures. Our first look was in the middle of the city hall courtyard in center city Philadelphia. It was a completely surreal experience to walk up to Michael in my wedding dress while a street performer played his flute impromptu and onlookers cheered. I was so excited and nervous, Michael says he could hear me hyperventilating well before I reached him. It was a perfect moment.

A Whimsical Bohemian Wedding in La Jolla

Whimsical Weddings

Bride Tammy wanted a wedding day that was colorful, bohemian, and glamorous, with a bit of nerdy thrown in for her husband-to-be — which came in the form of 75 glow-in-the-dark lightsabers for the post-ceremony dance party. Tammy and Nadav’s wedding day came together better than we could have ever imagined, thanks in no small part to the talented team of Orange Owl Photography, Coastyle Events, and Abby Barbrick of Sugar Rose Flowers.

From the bride, Tammy: Nadav and I knew that we wanted our wedding day to be a celebration of our love for each other, our family, and the people who matter the most. We tried to keep things simple, and wanted our guests to have a really great time. Our culture and religion are also really important to us, and we wanted to incorporate Jewish and Israeli traditions into our wedding wherever it was possible. Many of our guests were not Jewish, but I didn’t want them to feel left out, so I made programs from Wedding Paper Divas that explained each tradition we incorporated into our ceremony. Nadav and I always knew that we wanted an outdoor beach-y wedding. We fell in love on the beaches of La Jolla, and when we found the Martin Johnson House at the University of California San Diego we knew that it was perfect for us. Incredible ocean views, huge trees, slightly rustic, and exactly where we fell in love. It was also an almost blank palette and I loved that we could turn it into the bohemian-colorful-glam-unique-fun wedding I had always envisioned.

Our wedding could best be described with a few contradictions: traditional, but totally nontraditional at the same time. Bohemian, yet glam. Colorful, and simple. Hip, but nerdy. I guess it was a big kerfuffle, but it was so us, and that’s what made it perfect. Nadav is a big computer nerd, and it was really important to me that he didn’t get lost in the girly wedding shuffle. A few months before our wedding we were talking, and I asked him if there was anything he wanted at our wedding. He jokingly replied, “Oh you know, light sabers”. Well, that day I went online and ordered about 75 glow in the dark light sabers. You know what? those light sabers pretty much made our dance party amazing.

The month before our wedding Nadav and a few of his friends built our chuppah. In Jewish tradition, the chuppah is symbolic of the home that the bride and groom will build as they share their lives together. How cool is it that Nadav built our chuppah? Nadav and his friends also built an oversized Jenga for our guests to enjoy during cocktail hour. We still bring out the Jenga whenever we have friends over. Instead of traditional favors I ordered tambourines and had a hamsa printed on each one. Hamsas originate in the Middle East, and are said to keep away “the evil eye”. Well, I’m not sure if they actually keep away the evil eye, but I think they’re beautiful and hang them all over our house. My friends and I spent hours attaching colorful ribbons to each tambourine. They turned out beautifully and were the perfect dance floor prop.

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? Remember that this is about you and your soon to be spouse so don’t sweat the small stuff. In the end, the centerpieces will be really pretty but don’t matter, your mom’s opinion on the favors doesn’t matter, and whether or not you walked down the aisle with your parents too fast really doesn’t matter either. What does matter is that you’re marrying the love of your life, and starting a family together. It’s such an amazing thing, but it’s so easy to lose sight of that. Also, don’t feel like you have to follow any traditions. Do what feels right to you as a couple. Early in our engagement Nadav and I decided that we did not want to have a wedding party and instead had our immediate family stand at the chuppah with us. It was the best decision for us, and I would highly recommend it for anyone that does not want to deal with finding bridesmaid dresses. ;) Take your time and find a photographer and a videographer that you love. Not only will you spending the entire day with these professionals, but you’re trusting them with capturing the moments of what will be one of the best days of your entire life. It’s a big deal, and I think Orange Owl Photo and Jack & Hannah Photography and Videography stepped up to the plate. If you can afford a wedding planner, GET ONE. Ashley of Coastyle Events kept me sane, was organized when I was confused, and made our day absolutely amazing. It was truly the best day of our lives and I am so thankful.

Leo Carrillo Ranch Wedding

Whimsical Weddings

Photos by:

The Melideos

Sometimes our brides just blow us away with their talent, just like bride Hilary in this wedding from The Melideos (formerly Sweet Little Photographs). Hilary wanted to carefully handcraft decorations for the big day with beau Mike in order to have personal stamps for their friends and family to appreciate. Rachael of lace & likes tackled not only the day-of coordination, but also took care of the incredible floral arrangements with her company Siren Floral Co.

From the bride, Hilary: When we started planning our wedding, the only thing we felt really strongly about was that we wanted the event to represent us as a couple. We also felt that while our wedding was about celebrating our love for each other, it was also about celebrating the love we have for our family and friends who have supported us through our relationship and decision to get married. We wanted the vibe to be romantic and laid back, but still elegant. Deciding on our venue, the Leo Carrillo Ranch in Carlsbad, California, informed the rest of our design choices — rustic with vintage and handmade details.

It was definitely important to me to be able to make some of the decorations, myself, as I knew that this would make the event feel more authentically us. I also spent a lot of time collecting vintage pieces to add character to the event. Because I am getting my Master’s in Library Science, having a few literary details felt necessary, such as the framed literary quotes about love and the vintage books as centerpieces. I spent several Sundays at the used book sale at our local library buying up old hardcover books to make that happen! We are also very lucky in that we have some very talented friends who contributed their skills to our wedding. My mom made my birdcage veil, my sister played guitar for the ceremony, one of my good friends officiated, another friend was our DJ and our videographers were also good friends of ours. Having so many elements done by people we love really made the day feel extra special and uniquely us.

We decided on a range of colors including some metallic tones — plum, dusty rose, turquoise, sea foam, ivory, silver, gold. My DIY projects included the table numbers and framed signage, the seating chart window, the fan programs, and the streamer backdrop.

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? I definitely recommend a long engagement! We took our time to save money and plan and the result was that we had close to zero stress and the wedding of our dreams! Also, hire your vendors carefully. Everyone I chose to work with was after careful consideration (and a lot of price comparisons). Decide what’s important to you to splurge on and what you can stand to save on. More than that, make sure the people you choose to work with are passionate about what they do and that the work they produce is not only high-quality but in line with your style. Also, for DIY brides, I highly recommend having a day-of-event coordinator so you don’t have to enlist family and bridesmaids to set everything up and can instead enjoy a mimosa and get your hair done on the morning of the wedding! Rachael and her team at Lace & Likes were life-savers for me. I had all my decorations boxed up and paired with instructions for where things should go and they executed my vision to perfection, if not better! I am so thankful for that. Lastly, do everything with love because that’s what your day is about. Keeping that attitude even in moments of stress makes a difference and transforms even the most annoying setbacks into a true labor of love.

Larchfield Estate Wedding

Romantic Weddings

This Modern Love

I don’t think I’ve yet to come across a Claire Pettibone wedding gown that stops me in my tracks, and this one worn by bride Emma is hardly an exception. Seriously, just wait until you see the incredible back detail! This Modern Love and The Informal Florist also brought their best to the plate, with Alise Taggart creating some of the most beautiful details throughout the reception.

Larchfield Estate wedding - photo by This Modern Love http://ruffledblog.com/larchfield-estate-wedding

From the stylist, Alise Taggart: Emma is from Northern Ireland and Andy is from England. They met as stage actors performing in Andrew Lloyd’s Webber’s “Starlight Express” in Germany, where they now live. Emma was definitely a bride who knew what she wanted and I loved all of her fun and creative ideas! She wanted an enchanted forest full of deep berry, fig, pomegranate, and lilac tones with gold accents. She incorporated many of her personal family heirlooms in the decor as well such as vintage furniture and other pieces owned by her family and passed through generations.

The Informal Florist and her team brought the outdoors in with the overflowing foliage on the exposed beams of the old converted barn and did an incredible job on the gorgeous, lush floral centrepieces, bouquets, and the magical hanging creation over the head table. Each of the table runners were custom made and hand dyed, the tables were decorated with varying pillar and taper candles with intertwined vines and fruit scattered along the centre. Paper Bark Stationery hand painted the invitations and the other stationery pieces to match the colour palette perfectly. The weather couldn’t have been better, especially on an April day in Ireland, and the guests took full advantage of the garden games while sipping tea from vintage china and enjoying canapés on the lawn. This Modern Love captured the day beautifully, documenting each sweet moment perfectly. Please take the time to watch the incredible film by Best Day Productions as well, featuring some incredible dance moves by the fabulous guests at this wedding.

White Barn Wedding

Rustic Weddings

Photos by:

Hot Metal Studio

This wedding suits us just perfectly for spring, with its bright coral hues, fabric streamers, and beyond adorable kitty cat cake pops. We’re pretty keen on the couple’s “anniversary pinata” idea as a guestbook – be sure to check it out! Thanks to Hot Metal Studio and Elaine Pisarcik for doing such gorgeous work here.

first looks - photo by Hot Metal Studio http://ruffledblog.com/white-barn-wedding

From the bride, Haley: We met in middle school and wanted to go with a crafty paper homemade wedding, to symbolize simplicity and our childhood together! We tied in some school day themes with the brown paper lunch bags, and his hand written notes from middle school made an appearance. He loves to camp, so our flag tee pee and cake topper were very boy scout/summer camp looking haha :) We both loved the rustic feel to the barn and knew immediately that’s what we wanted when we walked in! For the floral design, we used lots of succulents and we were going with the wildflower mint and coral look. We wanted the flowers to be loose and flow-y and some even drape down the bouquet… our florist rocked!

Our colors were mint, coral, and sparkly gold! We crafted for months for the wedding! (Thanks mom!!) Here are some of the DIY projects: A light up LOVE marquee sign, spray painted gold, a tee pee arbor with blue and coral flags (Chad made!), wooden pallet bar (Chad made!), a ripped fabric banner for the bridal table, and my all time favorite… our light up frame that was hanging behind our seats at the bridal table… the frame was mint and we had the globe marquee lights outlining the frame. Inside of the frame were hearts, the hearts were all the notes that Chad had written me from middle school… some of them even saying “Someday you’ll be Mrs. Helbling.” How cute!

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? Take it SLOW! Everyone always says “Oh honey it goes by so fast” ..and even though I didn’t want to listen it totally flew by. St Patrick’s Day Wedding Inspiration

Wedding Design

Photos by:

Nine Photography

Happy St. Patrick’s Day, all! We’re about to run off to dye our drinks green and don our finest emerald apparel, but before we do, I wanted to leave you with this inspired shoot from Grit & Gold and Nine Photography. Stylist Lottie Fowler whipped up an intimate dinner with touches of emerald, gold, and some woodland creatures (you might spy a glittery deer or two), and not to mention a beverage station with Guinness and Bailey’s Irish Cream!

st patricks wedding shoots

st patricks day weddings

From the designer, Lottie of Grit & Gold: We wanted to do a very authentic approach to the tradition of Saint Patrick. With a lush Irish influenced tablescape, the focus was to sophisticate this celebration without the typical overload of shamrocks. We went with a color palette in emerald, gold, and turquoise. Subtle touches of Irish here and there are found throughout from the woodland creatures found in bell jars, homemade Bailey’s Irish Cream and Guinness station, gold painted beer steins, and lucky horseshoes.

Backyard Maryland Wedding

Garden Weddings

Photos by:

This wedding from Sarah Culver Photography was a true family affair: the bride collaborated with her mother to make many of the decorations, her aunt helped with the flower arrangements, and the whole shebang took place at the home of the bride’s grandparents! It’s personal touches like these that really make a wedding sing. Don’t you just adore the teal and yellow invitations designed by Nathan Grundhauser?

newlyweds and streamers

streamers and ribbons wedding

From the bride, Mia: The wedding took place at my grandparent’s house, which was so special. The flowers were done by myself and my aunt. We picked all the flowers that were on the tables from Butlers Orchard 2 days prior to the wedding. The cake was made by my Mom. And the decorations including the ribbon backdrop the carport streamers, the flag bunting, the name tags and the thank you favors were made by me. My mom made the table runners and tablecloth in the buffet.

We worked really hard on everything and I couldn’t have done it without my mom, she was the biggest help I could have asked for and was so amazing to have through the whole process, especially since we were living in California during the year we were planning the wedding in Maryland. It was just the most fun night of my life, no question about it.

Lace and Film Love Shoot

Engagement Sessions

Photos by:

When I first glanced at this adorable love shoot with a vintage film theme, I was head over heels with it right away. The vintage film theme, combined with lace made for a gorgeous backdrop. The setting, styled to the nines by Chic Celebrations and the couple’s wardrobe by Nunn Better Design, all captured by Krista Mason. From the chalkboard markers to the suspended frames, Joy and Cory’s session is filled to the brim with sweet ideas. This is the perfect inspiration for a couple who loves photography!

From the photographer, Krista: The inspiration behind this shoot is lace, film and cameras! As a photographer I love this idea and thought it would be adorable for any couple that also enjoys photography. The backdrop was envisioned as a photobooth and/or backdrop with the beautiful hanging lace and strips of film framing the hanging frames. The cameras on display are great ideas for centerpieces or as a display for a sign-in table. The vintage cameras and film canisters were all pulled together with the cake stands and the chalkboard signs. Calligraphy Katrina did an amazing job with the signs. The set design was styled by Gianna of Chic Celebrations. I love how she pulled everything together in this dynamic set-up displaying the cameras and film. The adorable couple was styled by Nunnbetter Design and hair and make-up by Susie Chhuor. The couple’s look is edgy and modern yet still soft and romantic, this is a great look for an engaged couple that wants a modern shoot while still keeping the romance.

Las Vegas Desert Wedding Shoot

Wedding Design

Photos by:

I don’t what it is about weddings and photoshoots in desert settings that get me giddy with excitement. This one by Brushfire Photography and Scheme Events is no exception. Fluffy, romantic pink flowers are mixed with succulents for the arrangements, with heaping dashes of oranges and teals throughout the tablescape. The color palette against the natural backdrop is just plain delicious.

las vegas wedding photoshoot from brushfire photography

From the photographer, Brittany: We wanted the shoot to appeal to DIY brides and the destination crowd since it has many DIY elements and was put together at Valley of Fire State Park in Las Vegas, Nevada. We chose Seven Sisters at Valley of Fire State Park because it is such a unique landscape. It is about an hour drive off the Las Vegas Strip and the perfect location for a couple who wants to get away. When driving there, the road curves around the desert and towering rock formations without any red rock in sight. You know you have arrived when you get around the final curve and see bright red rocks hundreds of feet tall in the distance to create a huge valley of fire.

Kelly and Shawn were not a real couple but they got along right away and we all had such a great time climbing the rocks and admiring the contrast of bright red rocks and blue mountains in the distance. Occasionally a car would drive by, but for the most part we had the gorgeous Seven Sisters all to ourselves. We decided to use a stitched theme for all the design elements. Milestone Paper Company did an amazing job with the paper designs and it was a perfect match to Scheme Events design. We wanted small hints of the desert represented and did that by including the small succulents and the cholla cactus skeleton. While I was stitching one of the paper elements I noticed the book title was Stone Dreams. We all immediately fell in love with the idea and found it was the perfect description of how we were feeling at The Valley of Fire.

DIY Streamer Backdrop

DIY Projects

Photos by:

Inspired by Amy and Stephen’s DIY photobooth backdrop, we decided to try making one ourselves… It’s so easy! You can even give your own twist to this project by arranging the crepe paper strips in geometric patterns like herringbone.

DIY wedding photobooth backdrop

For this project all you need are streamers in different colors, glue, scissors or paper cutter and a large roll of paper (you can find rolls of paper at places like Home Depot or Staples) as the base for the backdrop. Fold 3 feet pieces in halves, then cut the ends – one on a 45 degree angle and the other straight. Run a line of Elmer’s glue across the base paper and start designing your backdrop. Remember to start from the bottom up! Amy and Stephen tied their backdrop in between trees. If your wedding is indoors, you can make a loop the top edge of your backdrop like a curtain, staple the ends on the back and thread it through a curtain rod :)

Handcrafted Philadelphia Wedding

Vintage Weddings

Photos by:

Monday couldn’t come fast enough to share the scrumptious weddings that we have lined up for this week. To start the week off right, we have a super creative DIY wedding shot by the ladies from Love Me Do Photography, a seasoned Ruffled photography team based in Philly. Amy and Stephen handmade all of their decor and incorporated lots of family heirlooms and vintage items — including Amy’s mother’s wedding dress, which was altered for Amy. They used Philadelphia as their main inspiration throughout their wedding, including their brownstone skyline in their stationery and vintage map confetti toss. You’re missing out if you don’t check all images from this wedding in the galley!

From Amanda of Love me Do Photography: Stephen and Amy had a down-to-earth and sincere, thoughtfully-handcrafted Philadelphia wedding inspired by our loving families, local history and passion for adventure. They set out to create a lively and heartfelt backyard garden party where guests felt like participants – not members of an audience. Stephen had all three of his brothers as his “Best Men”, Amy’s short wedding dress had pockets, their cake was 65 inches long and their “getaway car” was a bicycle pedicab. Our venue, tucked away on a tiny street in the middle of downtown Philadelphia, was warm and inviting with antique clocks, portraits of presidents past and ivy covered brick walls..

Some details from the bride, Amy :

My mother made my wedding dress and jacket using lace from her very own wedding dress. She sewed a 2011 penny into the pocket for good luck, and as a nod to Benjamin Franklin.

Stephen’s dad was our officiant and my uncle performed the same song that he played at my parent’s wedding 31 years ago. Bouquets were wrapped with my grandmother’s handkerchiefs.

Table assignments were printed on slides from Stephen’s collection of travel slides and the guestbook was fashioned from an old atlas.

Each guest received a jar of locally-sourced Hives for Lives honey accompanied by family recipes. 100% of the profits from this honey go to help beat cancer, a cause that is near and dear to our hearts.

Next up is all about rustic weddings. This time, streamers are starring as ceiling decor to dress up the huge ceilings from a barn. We picked a few items that will go flawlessly with streamers in a rustic setting, paired with a few DIY project alternatives.

1. Vintage milk glass. Love their delicate look on raw wooden tables, as seen on this rustic wedding shoot. You can also get the DIY on how to faux milk glass here.

2. Long rectangular wooden tables are gorgeous as they are without tablecloths, but a vintage doily runner would make a great addition.

3. Streamers as ceiling decor, as seen on this wedding we featured last year and this gorgeous Scottish wedding published a few weeks ago.

4. Vintage tins. We’re loving the ones from this wedding we share last month.

5. Novelty edible snacks, such as cotton candy, sorbet or pop corn. I also love the gingham cone for a pom pom or petal toss! You can view the entire wedding from the image above here.

We have featured so many amazing weddings using streamers as their wedding decor ;ate;y, that we couldn’t help but notice how versatile they are. From casual handmade weddings to city chic soirées, they can be incorporated in virtually any wedding style, hence the mini series. Starting with a DIY wedding theme, here are few of our favorite vintage decor must-haves that can be perfectly matched with streamers:

Vintage Party Decor Must-Haves for weddings

1. Vintage cakestands. This vintage-inspired cakestand from My Sweet and Saucy Shop has the right amount of cute to make your wedding cake pop!

2. Tea-length wedding dresses alone make my heart go pitter-patter, and in blush pink? From Dolly Couture.

3. Crepe paper streamers for your ceremony backdrop. You can double it as a photobooth backdrop for your reception! The photo above is by W Scott Chester. You can view another great example of a streamer ceremony backdrop in this wedding we featured a few months ago. You can buy paper streamers in bulk here.

4. Vintage mismatched china. This wedding we featured back in 2009 had a unique place setting for each guest. You can scour flea markets and thrift stores, and we also often see brides selling the vintage china collections in our Recycle Your Wedding section, so be sure to keep your eye peeled for new listings.

5. Retro soda bottles as centerpieces. Brands like Faygo and Boylan have a vintage-inspired look and can be found at most supermarkets. You can view the rest of this wedding here.

6. Paper straws and lemonade, is there a better combo to beat the heat with such charm? Though vintage milk glass bottles are tough to find in large quantities, you can get the same look by getting Starbucks or Archer Farms (by Target) Frappucino bottles pronto :) You can find paper straws in large quantities here.
