I’d be lying if I said I didn’t have a major crush on bride Karen’s wedding dress. Louisa Bailey did an amazing job of capturing the rock ‘n’ roll vibe behind this modern Melbourne wedding affair, don’t you think? Head on over to the gallery for more goodness!

From the bride, Karen: The style of our wedding was modern french chic – as our venue had just been through a makeover, it was fitting to make the style sleek french style, lots of chrome, shiny surfaces whilst still maintaining a ‘high tea’ feel to the room.

Our ceremony was completely composed by us and reflected our sense of humor, whilst maintaining a level of seriousness. There were a lot of laughs throughout and 3 surprise readings from 3 special women close to us. At the end of the day, we wanted our guests to enjoy the big party we put on without having to travel between ceremony and reception. We served champagne for guests whilst the ceremony took place and had an open bar all night.

Any advice for brides planning their weddings now? Find wedding vendors that you really click with, who share your vision. Our vendors were amazing and really wanted to get involved with our special day as it was a bit different to most weddings. It is important that if you are going for something a bit different and not traditional that your vendors understand and share the vision. Trust that they will make your day amazing.

We wanted lots of different areas for our guests to be involved in, from our high tea station with personalized tea bags, to the typewriter desk, to the huge desert buffet, the cupcake tower and the separate lolly buffet. The dessert and lolly buffets were a great icebreaker for our guests.

We just love, love unexpected pops of color, and this New York City wedding has plenty of them! The bride, Stephanie, is a designer for Betsey Johnson, and used her industry know-how to design her super cute reception dress. As if that weren’t enough, the bride also designed the 1920s-style invitations herself, and we’re just smitten with their Art Deco feel! Most importantly, be sure to check out all images from Belathée Photography in the gallery.

From Lora: Our style is eclectic, laid back, vintage, alternative. We had a dj spinning old funk and soul records, I wore a tea length Audrey Hepburn inspired 50’s wedding dress from a designer in LA, and the food is all Southern Indiana with an emphasis on local and organic; barbecue, corn on the cob, lemon poppyseed cake, Upland brew, etc. It’s nonstuffy and fun. We hope :)
