Casino San Clemente Wedding Inspiration

Wedding Design

This styled shoot from the lovely team of Chris Wojdak Photography, Francine Ribeau Events, and Il Profumo dei Fiori is a favorite for many reasons, but we particularly love that the models are actually a real family! Stevi, Glenn, and their two daughters help bring to life some seriously stunning Southern California wedding inspiration, complete with epic floral design and jaw-dropping scenery.

From the photographer, Chris Wojdak: Stevi and Glenn were married years ago, and since then, have had two beautiful daughters and a whole host of amazing adventures. When a friend from Italy came into town and asked about putting together a photo shoot, I immediately went to my dream team of vendors, and asked Stevi of Hey There, Cupcake! to get in front of the lens for this shoot instead of baking. She’s so beautiful and is so often working behind the scenes (chances are you’ve seen her work in a large number of Southern California inspiration photos). Of course, it only made sense to bring her beautiful family in for the shoot. Once the session was underway, the nostalgia for their wedding day really began to make the day feel a little like a real vow renewal. The delicious sweets, beautiful flowers, perfectly-suited rentals, flawless coordination, and dreamy settings all combined to make some serious magic.

San Clemente Summer Camp Wedding

Whimsical Weddings

Photos by:

Acqua Photo

You know that feeling you get when you read a love story so sweet you feel like you might burst with joy for the couple? In this job, we get our fair share of that feeling, but perhaps never so strongly as when we read the story of Erin and Casey. The couple met in 5th grade summer camp and were lucky enough to know they had found their “one,” and their wedding day was the perfect reflection of all the love they’ve shared over the years. Acqua Photo, Amorology Weddings, and Twigg Botanicals left no stone unturned for this one, folks.

From the bride, Erin: As kids, Casey and I attended the same summer camp which we later both worked at during college. It was here where we met some of our best friends and experienced some of our fondest memories in the entire world. This made it easy to pick “Happy Campers” as the inspiration for our fall wedding. We shared some of our favorite camp stories and photographs with Heather and the incredible team at Amorology. They took these concepts and created a magical camp experience that we will never forget. Our wedding included rustic long wooden tables with a mixture of benches and chairs. Small woodland animals adorned the tables and our guests reported to the reception by first visiting the handmade backdrop with the words “My Thermos Runneth Over” featured prominently. Amorology and Peanut Press created adorable miniature pennants with each party’s name, which was then placed in an enamel mug and displayed on the backdrop. Surrounded by our family and closest friends in the world we had the most incredible day. I would do it all over again in a heartbeat!

Our colors included honey yellow, gray, peachy pink, blush, green, teal blue with poppy red and orange accents. Casey had a gorgeous red bell handcrafted to honor the location where he proposed. The talented teams at Amorology and Twigg Botanicals created the most incredible arbor to hang the bell from, which was placed at the front of the wedding ceremony for Casey and I to stand beneath while we exchanged vows. Our wedding readings came from poems and children’s books that spoke to my teaching background and our past experiences at the camp where we grew up. Each word captured the whimsy, fun and devotion that Casey and I try to approach each day with. Standing on the edge of a bluff as the sun fell into the ocean, surrounded by love and marrying the love of my life could not have been more perfect. At the end of the service our friend and minister rang the bell with joy as we kissed, another memory I will always cherish.

Having the incredibly talented Acqua Photo handle our photographs before the ceremony ensured that we were fresh and relaxed and most importantly did not miss a moment of the reception! Each place setting had a personalized Bingo card made by Peanut Press (in honor of a long-standing camp tradition) and the wedding party was provided with vintage Bingo cards as a surprise from Amorology. To kick off the reception we played a game of Bingo with a few winners receiving a special set of gifts selected to speak to our past, present and future. It was an unexpected surprise for our guests and ended up becoming wonderfully competitive! To help create a special camp feel, Casey and I made a set of friendship bracelets in our wedding colors for each of our guests. We spent hours making over three hundred bracelets which were then braided together to create unique napkin rings, which the guests took as a favor. In lieu of a traditional photo booth we created a “Summer Camp Memories” display. Throughout the evening people would stop by and look at the amazing times we had and Acqua snapped a number of awesome new pictures perfectly mixing our past with our future. By the end of the night the wedding party began taking their favorite pictures right off the wall as keepsakes. It turned out to be such a wonderful way to share the special memories that helped inspire our day.

Dinner was a very important aspect of our wedding day. Casey and I really wanted to have delicious food that was not your traditional wedding cuisine. Working with the amazingly talented Root Cellar Catering Co. we were able to create an amazing menu of fresh spring salads, tomato soup shooters with grilled cheese croutons, pulled pork sliders, and vegetarian chili with all the fixings. Guests also enjoyed local San Diego beers and “Bug Juice,” a deliciously refreshing fruit drink created by Root Cellar. In another nod to camp, guests were able to stop by the “S’more Love” bar and toast up their very own delicious treat. This was a huge hit with all our guests! The amazing Susie’s Cakes created a chocolate cake with vanilla frosting, which was topped with a custom wood topper and was pure simplistic perfection. Our DJ created a wonderful atmosphere keeping the dance floor packed all night long. Dancing, singing and laughing with our guests under a perfect California night sky was everything we had hoped for and more.

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? Hire a wedding planner! Hiring a professional truly makes a difference. Weddings are inherently stressful and can be overwhelming. Casey and I are always going in a million different directions so it was such a relief to know Heather and her team had everything under control and we did not need to worry about anything. Your wedding planner will also be able to steer you towards other professionals who truly care about your day and will go above and beyond to make it memorable. Figure out what is most important to you and let the rest go. We really wanted our favorite people in the world to relax, have fun, and feel the love we have for them and the excitement Casey and I felt for our marriage to begin. Once we focused on this, all the other decisions fell into place. Lastly, breathe and trust that at the end of the day the most important thing is that you will marry the love of your life. Everything else is great, but the two of you starting this new chapter is the most important thing. The week before our wedding there were five tropical storms sitting off the coast of San Clemente. Panic was definitely on the horizon but my husband and I just focused on the fact that we were going to have the most incredible day no matter the weather. The morning of our wedding we both woke up to see clear skies and the perfect weather held through the day and into the night, it couldn’t have been better.

From the photographer, Jen of Acqua Photo: Erin and Casey met at Summer Camp when they were in 5th grade. They were each others’ first and only boyfriend/girlfriend and have been inseparable ever since. Many of their best friends were also from their camp, and so they thought incorporating that special time in their lives into the theme of the wedding would make it so much fun for everyone. A few of the many highlights of the day: The amazing escort wall complete with vintage lanterns, thermoses, and camp cups overflowing with marshmallows; place settings with friendship bracelets handmade by the bride and groom for every guest; vintage Bingo cards and the game at the reception; engraved wood table signs; bug juice and canteens; Erin’s fabulous red, polka dot shoes; custom Gage Family Bell; Grandma as the flower girl; and chili and s’mores for dinner!

Southwestern San Clemente Wedding

Whimsical Weddings

Photos by:

Matthew Morgan

Where oh where to begin with this San Clemente wedding from Matthew Morgan? Perhaps with the fact that the handsome groom looks uncannily like Adam Scott from Parks and Recreation, or that everyone in this wedding is drop-dead gorgeous, or that every bit of the styling and floral design from Love Me Do Weddings and Tropical Blossoms is nothing short of southwestern perfection…

southwestern san clemente wedding // via ruffledblog.com

From the bride, Katie: The style I was going for was a southwestern vibe. We wanted a lot of DIY and love to show through all the decor of the wedding. I also wanted to keep it simple, but make a statement. Some adjectives that come to mind would be… simple, happy, or relaxed. The theme was southwestern, along with red-orange, turquoise, yellow colors…

Our DIY projects included: we painted geometric designs on each of the table numbers, and we painted the escort frames with geometric designs as well. We had bracelets tied around the napkins at the tables that had tags with clever sayings written on them. We painted each terracotta pot, and we made the sign in table/find your seat table decor too!

1920’s Inspired Wedding in San Clemente

Vintage Weddings

Photos by:

Lauren Scotti

Inspired by the glitz and glam of the roaring twenties, this California wedding photographed by Lauren Scotti screams old Hollywood glamour. Sequins and lots of vintage details adorn both the women and the decor, while a teary-eyed groom was sure to melt everyones’ hearts.

1920s-inspired-wedding

From the bride, Aubry: We both grew up in Southern California and knew we wanted to have a 1920s-inspired wedding. The Casino was the first venue we saw and it’s history (originally built as a dance hall and getaway for the stars in the 1930s) and laid-back Southern California vibe was the perfect place to bring our vision to life. Steps away from the ocean and surrounded by vintage details, we envisioned an intimate, romantic ceremony followed by a Gatsby-esque celebration under the stars. Our ultimate goal was for the night to be memorable and fun, and we had a blast dancing the night away roaring-20’s style with our closest friends and family.

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? Our biggest advice would be to make it a point to be present on your wedding day. After months of planning and so much excitement on the day-of, it’s easy to get caught up in the moment. Take the time to look around you and take it all in. Enjoy yourselves! It truly is the most amazing day ever.

Utilize your talents, home-decor, and the help of those around you! We cut costs by designing our own save the dates, invites, wedding website, and programs. We decorated with items we already had or bought items we would want to reuse in our new home. Our family baked awesome “family-recipe” goodies for our dessert bar. These elements made it that much more personal and budget-friendly… and we love having pieces in our home that remind of us of our wedding every day!

Beach Chic Wedding

Beach Weddings

Photos by:

We’re gearing up for a long holiday weekend, and I thought this chic San Clemente wedding would be the perfect eye candy before we grab our straw hats and head out for a picnic by the beach. The bride, Aly, made everything herself! Heather of LVL Weddings & Events helped her pull everything together and I love the effortless look.

From the coordinator, Heather: Ally, a Canadian transplant and Tim, a SoCal native and fire fighter, live in long beach and love Southern California’s beautiful weather. Since half of their wedding guests would be coming from Canada, they fell in love with the ocean view at the historical San Clemente venue, Ole Hanson Beach Club. We love the spring garden theme combined with the lawn ceremony and beach setting. Ally was on a budget and decided to take on all of the details, a true DIY bride, she embossed every invitation, program and name card with a gold dandelion. All the details were so cute, the DIY herb marker table numbers in tiny terracotta pots and the river rocks on the DIY ceremony programs to keep them from blowing away.

We fell in love with the bridesmaid’s dresses were gorgeous that could be worn multiple styles! The sweet couple said their vows under the picturesque tree while the guests were seated on white garden benches. The decor for the ceremony and reception was simple, cute and colorful in over sized mason jars. Ally, Tim and their guests enjoyed dinner on the outdoor patio while the sunset.

Spanish Revival Wedding

Garden Weddings

Photos by:

There’s something about weddings with an exotic flair that makes my heart pitter-patter. This wedding, sent to us by Christa Rose of Floral Designs by Christa Rose is no different: hand-crafted boxes of succulents, bouquets of almost every color in the rainbow, and plentiful details alluding to the couple’s heritage. Plus, that venue? Sign me up for the next plane, please…

spanish revival wedding

From Christa Rose of Floral Designs by Christa Rose:
Their wedding and reception took place at Casa Romantica, a 1920s Spanish Colonial Revival estate overlooking the beautiful Pacific Ocean in San Clemente, CA. The ceremony was out on the bluff with a long stretch of ocean and sunny skies as a backdrop. They had mariachis to serenade them down the aisle and into the reception – how awesome is that!

spanish revival weddingspanish revival wedding

When Carmen first came to me, she knew her venue but didn’t quite know which direction to go in. As soon as she told me she liked succulents, the ball started rolling. She and her fiancé found unfinished planters boxes from IKEA and stained them a dark wood color to go with the beams and style of the Casa. The boxes were just perfect for succulents! I decided that it was more sustainable to plant the succulents rather than use cut stems for the centerpieces. This way, guests could take home the centerpieces and enjoy their beauty even after the wedding. I hosted a planting party and had a few of Carmen’s friends and family over to help with the centerpieces (wine was involved!). It was so much fun to get everyone involved in a hands-on project and even teach them some new things.

spanish revival wedding

Carmen and I had discussed flowers and decor for the ceremony but decided to leave it as it was since the natural setting was already breathtaking. Carmen had the best attitude and was so easy to work with – she told me a bit of her style and let me run with it. I always get excited when brides let me do this because I can create something that is a little unexpected. I loved the boutonnieres – they were made up of succulents, craspedia (aka billy balls) and a single rose. I wrapped them all with burlap and tied them with raffia. They were the perfect complement to the rest of the wedding flowers.

spanish revival weddingspanish revival wedding

From the bride, Carmen: Most of our inspiration for our wedding day was from Casa Romantica. We knew as soon as we walked in that this was the perfect venue for us! The Spanish feel it had and all the beautiful gardens, but most of all the VIEW… it was amazing. We really wanted to keep it simple with the decor and make it “us”. I knew as soon as I was engaged that I wanted to incorporate succulents as my centerpieces and our first DIY project was to make our centerpieces. We purchased planter wood boxes from IKEA and Elmer stained ALL the boxes. Our floral designer, Christa Rose, really helped put my vision together and did an amazing job with all the arrangements. I was sooo in LOVE with my bouquet. I couldn’t have done most of our DIY projects without our friends and family. My brother is an AMAZING artist and he created our guest sign in tree, for guest to “leaf us a note” when they entered the venue. He made a painting of “Dia de los muertos” for us as a present and we displayed it at our wedding. My sister purchased all the jaritos from Mexico and we used them as favors for guest to take home and had a Day of the Dead groom and bride by our cake. Other DIY projects we did were our escort cards, moss letter initials, table numbers and chalkboard menus.

spanish revival wedding

spanish revival wedding

I fell in love with my bracelet; I had been drooling over it online and finally had the guts to just purchase it from JCrew. I knew I wanted to wear flats, so I went with Steve Madden gold flats. My sister (MOH) gave me the flower that I wore in my hair which was from Mexico! Elmer is a die hard Dodger fan, so i thought he would love it for me to wear a Dodger garter that I purchased from Etsy.

My most memorable moment was our first look. We decided we wanted to see each other before the ceremony. Best decision ever… I was so nervous and as soon as I saw Elmer all my nerves went away. It was intimate and I also never thought that he would get teary eyed.

spanish revival wedding

Advice for brides planning: I think the most important thing is to have fun with the planning process and relax! It doesn’t have to be so stressful. Hire a coordinator! I really think if I didn’t have a coordinator everything wouldn’t have run as smoothly as it did.

As a graphic designer, I believe that great graphic design is in the details {read: spending lots of time at the computer looking at pixels.} If you dont know what a pixel is- congratulations- because that’s why graphic designer types exist! {to save your eyesight} Really, though-design is more than matching colors and picking pretty fonts {but I do have major love for fonts} – it’s about conveying your message to the world with a swirl, a flourish, a dot, a pattern- whatever it takes to creatively encompass your clients vision and send that vision out into the world with impact.

That’s what I try to do. EMPHASIS on TRY. I adore designing and am currently the owner of NOTEDOCCASIONS.COM , an online site catering to everyone who loves having a party. And who doesn’t because as I see it, life’s a party!

Custom invitation design requests are always welcome – we welcome the opportunity to make your event absolutely perfect!
