Kelley Farm Wedding

Rustic Weddings

Photos by:

We’re so delighted to share this Washington wedding from one of our favorite photographers, Benj Haisch! Newlyweds Rachelle and Tanner chose a wedding venue that was near and dear to their hearts, as Rachelle spent much of her time at Kelley Farm as a child. We love that, in lieu of a cake cutting, the bride and groom fed each other bites of ice cream!

From the photographer, Benj: Rachelle really went for the vintage/rustic vibe through borrowing/thrifting her mind off. They chose a venue very close to her home and a place she had visited as a child. Portraits were also taken on the lake where she grew up.

Oklahoma Barnyard Wedding

Rustic Weddings

Photos by:

When Gene of Geneoh Photography sent this wedding our way, our hearts melted just a bit. Not only because we’re suckers for a gorgeous couple in a rowboat, but also because Gene was photographing his longtime childhood friend, Trent, marry his sweetheart, Hannah. Aww! There’s so very much goodness to be seen, so make sure you head to the gallery for even more images.

From the bride, Hannah: Our favorite hobbies include antiquing and listening to live music, preferably folk. We wanted to make sure we incorporated our style of folk and antiques into our wedding one way or another. When we found the Barn we knew we had to have this as our location. The rusticness of the barn gave the perfect vibe we were envisioning for our wedding.

We didn’t really have a color scheme. So many people’s first questions was always, “So what are your colors?” and I would always respond, “It’s more of a vision…” We wanted our wedding to be cozy and intimate. Neither of us are very matchy matchy people. We wanted all of our bridesmaids and groomsmen to feel comfortable in in what they were wearing. I had the girls pick out grey dresses from J. Crew and the boys wore pretty much whatever they had in their closets.

We got 200 old western books donated to us from my local library back home. My mother made lots of the decor and our florist took my vision and created a beautiful scene for our wedding and reception the day of. I’ve always loved the Country look coming from rural Indiana and I wanted some of my roots in the feel of the wedding. The ball jars my mother found on the side of the road!

We also made our own boxed invitations! It took probably around 100 hours with help from family and friends but we did it! My brother designed our programs and map for our invite as well. Trent wrote the processional song as well and the groomsmen played it while the bridesmaids and I entered. It gave such a unique vibe to begin the ceremony.

Any advice for brides planning their weddings now? Don’t settle on a color scheme but more of a theme. You can work so much more with themes than if you choose two colors and everything has to be those colors. Themes allow you to be creative and lets your imagination run wild! Also, take help when it is offered. Our wedding would have never turned out the way it did without the help of our family and friends. Finally, roll with the punches. Our wedding was May 1st in Tulsa, OK. One would think it would be beautiful. Unfortunately it was a high of 50 degrees and rainy. We had to move our wedding indoors at the last minute, but it actually made the wedding even more intimate with all our friends and family standing around us as we exchanged our vows.

1940s Rehearsal Dinner Shoot

Wedding Design

Photos by:

When Erin of EE Photography sent this styled shoot our way, we just knew we needed to jump on it! Every single image just oozes Southern charm and vintage appeal, with dreamy decor, weather, and models running rampant. Looking at these pictures makes me desperately wish I had a wooden boat to crawl into and paddle away… Thank you for sharing, Erin!

From the stylist, Shelbi: We began the styling of this photo shoot with a Pearl Harbor theme in mind and gravitated towards an upscale rustic rehearsal dinner. We wanted to incorporate 1940s fashion with a modern flair and incorporate that design into the tablescape, decor and invitation/sign design as well. The use of a fishing net, boat, poles and anchor helped to set the scene for a romantic dinner by the water. At the same time, we used a crisp white tablecloth and natural colors to create a simple and modern setting as well as hints of gold and silver to add a touch of opulence to an otherwise outdoor setting.

In keeping with the 1940s theme we used typefaces with vintage flair and spiced them up with a unique color palettes. The pop of bright gold was used in the invitation and the signs to unify the event but also to make it stand out. I found the succulents at Calloway’s for $5 a piece in plastic pots and wrapped the pots in rope from Walmart to better fit with the design of the table. These were so easy and inexpensive to make but added such personality to the place settings! I included a step-by-step photo tutorial to show how I wrapped the pots. The hanging clear bottles were empty cream soda bottles used as vases for bunches of baby’s breath.

The benches around the table were handmade by my husband who used stumps as support for two old boards. We also used slices of tree stumps to create a chalkboard menu, direction signs and coasters for the table.

I looked everywhere for the perfect fishing net and found one in the most unexpected place! As my husband was gathering wood for to make the benches he discovered a large net lying in the field behind my aunt and uncle’s house. In the midst of creating a fort, we have speculated that one of my cousins somehow acquired and later abandoned a batting cage net and thus we found our centerpiece!

Rowboat Engagement Session

Engagement Sessions

This editorial worthy engagement session of Tayler and Nate sent by Sheena Jibson is the epitome of late summer romance. With Labor Day quickly approaching for us here in the US, I can’t help but think about how perfect it would be to do something like this with my husband. Specially loving the last few images:
