Luxury English Estate Wedding Inspiration

Wedding Design

We’re taking you all on a journey today to the lovely English countryside where Philippa Sian Photography has brought to life the most luxurious purple-and-grey hued wedding shoot. The location has those sprawling and picturesque landscapes you’d find on an English estate as beautiful as this one, and Violets and Velvet knew that complementing the whole mood of the shoot with equally-gorgeous, garden-style floral centerpieces was key. Our excitement over this shoot cannot be contained!

From the photographer and event designer, Philippa Sian PhotographyMixing the classic with the new – that’s what this luxury inspirational shoot embodies. With Wrest Park, an English Heritage grade I-listed country estate as the stunning backdrop to this romantic shoot, we were able to complement the grandeur with a feminine and modern look.

When designing the look and concept of the shoot, I knew that I wanted grey to play a big part. Grey is such a versatile and stylish colour and I’ve started to see grey table linens appear more and more. I wanted to build on this and add a mix of feminine colours to deliver this grey colour trend in a really new way.

Before I had decided on the full colour palette, the lovely Maria-Antonia from Duchess & Butler and I were discussing her luxury hire collection and she showed me her beautiful Valentina charger plates; a lux pink with gold embellishment. She has such a good eye for colour and showed how mixing colours with your tablewear can work really well. In this case she suggested her Audrey purple glasswear to sit alongside the pink and gold charger plates and there it was! All of a sudden we had our colour palette! Grey and gold with highlights of pink and purple; a stylish, on trend look mixed and delivered in a really fresh way.

We wanted to create a real wedding look for this shoot, and so Duchess & Butler set the table for 22 place settings. We used gorgeous grey linen and candles, beautiful pink and gold charger plates, purple and pink glasswear with flashes of gold in the cutlery and candelabras. The chairs were covered in delicate gold lace chair covers which added to our embellished and romantic styling, all provided by Duchess & Butler. Beautiful menus and place settings in a soft grey and gold foil from The Whistle Press added the finishing touches.

Wild and blousy floral displays in urns adorned the table, with a delicate green garland running the length of the table. The fireplace was draped in a mesmerising floral display which created the most stunning backdrop for our table setting and our couple.

The bridal bouquet was given the same swoon worthy treatment, with trailing, romantic passion flowers mixed with delicate buds and blousy florals. Beautiful ribbon from Lancaster & Cornish in deep greys and gold foiled dusky tones completed the bouquet’s luxury and romantic look.

Floral favour cases with delicate truffles inside by Villa Dolce which were dotted on each place setting. These tasty truffles also made up our luxury sweet table accompanied by the beautiful cake from Wild Flower Cakes, with gorgeous hand written calligraphy labels from Oh Wonder Calligraphy tied together with dreamy gold foiled silk ribbon from Lancaster & Cornish.

The Whistle Press provided beautiful hand crafted stationery for the shoot, using beautiful grey and white papers with gold foil text. Oh Wonder Calligraphy added some romance with handwritten calligraphy envelopes, love letters and romantic quotes on a vintage mirror.

Our lovely bride and model, Rebecca, wore two stunning dresses from London bridal boutique, Heart Aflutter Bridal Boutique who specialise in unique, stylish and exciting bridal wear. Both dresses encompassed the dreamy and embellished feel of the shoot, with the first gold embroidered dress, ‘Heart of Gold’ by designer Claire La Faye and the second, a floaty soft grey editorial dress, ‘Alexandra’ by designer Truvelle. Both looks were accessorised with ‘Amy Leaf’ hair accessories from Tilly Thomas Lux and beautiful ivory shoes from Love Art Wear Art. Rebecca’s look was perfected with natural makeup and a loose romantic updo by Patricia Soper.

Our groom, Luke, wore a classy and dapper 3 piece Mohair Berwick suit from Gresham Blake. We also teamed up with Mrs Bow Tie to complete his look. He wore their classic silver skinny tie mixed with a dusky rose Turner pocket square to add a pop of colour and a subtle nod to the colour palette.

Oldfield Plantation Wedding Inspiration

Wedding Design

A soft and luminous wedding editorial at a plantation in the deep south? We signed up for those pictures from Jose & Teresa Photography and they definitely did not disappoint! For a few days, photographer Jeremy Chou held a workshop in Okatie, South Carolina and this southern countryside was the setting while Design Studio South was in charge of all of the details and elements. Under the swaying Spanish moss and centuries-old oaks, they chose a pastel color palette of blues and greys. In came dashes of blush from Colonial House of Flower‘s elegant floral arrangements created with roses and ranunculi, to name a few choice blooms. We can only imagine how dreamy it was to shoot this editorial!

From the photographer, Jose & Teresa Photography: This styled shoot took place in the low-country of Oldfield Plantation in Okatie, South Carolina. It has an ethereal feel with the soft Spanish moss hanging from trees as a background and a beautifully in love couple, who are actually engaged and to be married later this year. The bride has a tattoo of a cross on her right hand’s ring finger, as she is a woman of faith, which really captured my attention as I am also a believer. This concept came to be by Jeremy Chou’s Workshop given on February 29 – March 1.

Long taper candles always add a great deal of romance to any wedding tablescape. They come in a wide variety of colors so you can mix and match them and ensure they suit your color palettes. Set them in glass candle holders like these for a more elongated effect, or add even more elegance and use dreamy metal candelabras. Swoon!

Intimate Thailand Resort Wedding

Romantic Weddings

Come and take a minute or two to check out this pretty in pink (and purple and aqua!) wedding in Thailand. Honestly, you’ll probably need more than a few minutes once you start browsing through Blush Photography‘s beautiful captures of Lynn and Matt’s wedding in tropical paradise. To amplify the romance, IAMFLOWER adorned the sweetest pink and ivory blooms to anything, including the sweet floral crowns the bridesmaids and the flower girl wore! Not only are the landscape views out of this world, but The Wedding Bliss Thailand certainly did a number on the styling of this wedding; it’s as dreamy as you’d expect a tropical beach wedding would be with your nearest and dearest.

From the bride, Lynn: We met at work… our desks being next to each other, we locked eyes and the rest as they say, is history! I thought Matt was very sweet on my first day at work, plus he’s easy on the eyes too! I found out years later that he told one of our common friends that he thought I was “well fit” (a British slang referring to attractiveness, not physical fitness). Matt surprised me by organising a romantic beach picnic with 3 course meal at Canggu beach in Bali. He had a small bag with him the whole time and I thought that we would be staying the night at Hotel Tugu. As the sun set, he took out a photo album that he had made earlier. It was very sweet and romantic. On the last page of the album, there was an envelope and inside was a small note with the inscription “Will you marry me?” in tiny handwriting. Matt then took out the ring, and got on his knees to propose. Of course, I said Yes immediately!

We have always liked Thailand, having travelled there a few times and Matt has spent a few months there during his gap year. We decided on Phuket because it’s beautiful and easily accessible for our family and friends that were travelling from Australia, UK and South East Asia. Also, my family are mostly in Australia and Matt’s family are based in UK, so Thailand was the half way point for our families. Destination weddings always feel more relaxed and enjoyable, guests are on holiday mode and not worrying about work. We fell in love with The Naka Phuket resort, it had everything we needed to create our perfect dream wedding.

Our favourite moment from the day apart from the ‘I do’s (of course!) has to be the fireworks at the end of the wedding reception. We had just finished our first dance and speeches and so could relax! We had also kept the fireworks as a big surprise for months and loved seeing the reaction on our guests’s faces when the fireworks lit up the sky over the beach.

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? I highly recommend employing the service of a wedding planner to help organize your wedding, they really do take some of the hassle out of planning a wedding, especially a destination wedding where you may not be familiar with their local vendors. Some further advice we received from friends that are married, try to enjoy the day as the day will whizz by very fast. Also, keep your phones at home on your wedding day to reduce any further stress and distractions, or ask one of your bridesmaids or groomsmen to take care of those matters for you. During the ceremony, it’s a good idea for your celebrant to announce to guests that mobile phones/cameras are forbidden during the ceremony, to ensure that everyone are focused and not distracted with trying to take nice photographs (which you already have a professional photographer to do that job for you!)

From the wedding planners, The Wedding Bliss Thailand: Lynn and Matt’s wedding was a very personal, intimate affair set at a beautiful beachfront luxury resort in Thailand. With their playful, yet nature-loving and romantic personalities, we created a wedding designed to reflect who they are: from a romantic ceremony in pink and purple tones, a cocktail reception where guests enjoyed champagne and writing messages to a happy couple on a vintage typewriter, to the dinner, decorated with tender flowers, playful little cacti as a name cards, and CDs with soulful playlist, created personally by the bride and the groom as favours to their guests.

Romantic Philadelphia Horticulture Center Wedding

Romantic Weddings

Winter weddings can have their tricky moments to plan, but Carrie and Mike carried out their Philadelphia wedding day with such finesse and Redfield Photography skillfully captured all of the goodness on camera. We love that they chose a greenhouse setting and brought in beautiful, deep, jewel red colors and floral arrangements by their event and floral designer, Q|A Events; it brought a fun, vibrant feel to the whole event while keeping in line with the season. This is definitely one ultra-creative way to do a cool-seasoned wedding!

winter brides - photo by Redfield Photography http://ruffledblog.com/romantic-philadelphia-horticulture-center-wedding

From the bride, Carrie: We envisioned a warm, romantic, bohemian feel for the wedding.  We originally wanted something laid back, but when we picked a winter wedding date we decided to dress it up a little bit while trying to keep the bohemian feel. We didn’t really have a color scheme, but we chose marsala and berry tones for our flowers because we thought it would compliment the greenery in the venue as well as the bridal party attire. We didn’t do any DIY projects, but I worked very closely with the event designers and I think we designed something amazing together!

Romantic Jewel Toned Wedding

Romantic Weddings

Photos by:

Anna Delores

For some honest-to-goodness, girly-girl wedding inspiration, you really have to look no further than this beautiful berry-toned fête coming straight from the lens of Anna Delores. Nikki and Rob chose a day of sparkle, the dreamiest shades of pink and purple you could imagine, and a classic country feel. We tip our hats off to Vanessa Noel Events for making sure all of the loveliness of their big day was everything they imagined!

From the event designer, Vanessa Noel Events: Nikki is a girly girl–pink, sparkle, and false lashes are a few of this girl’s favorite things! She and Rob are also both small town dwellers who love the slower pace of a little country living. They chose Historic Seven Sycamores Ranch as the backdrop for their sweet wedding and we set out to glam it up just the right amount.

Nikki and Rob wanted their wedding to feel fun, vibrant, and family-centric so we chose to embrace the colors of spring and created a color palette of berry tones that was both cheerful and dramatic. We used accents of metallic gold, ruffles, and a chandelier to give just the perfect touch of girly glam. We played a lot with combining linens to provide extra interest and texture with the head table as the main focal point draped in a fun and flirty ruffled linen.

One of my favorite details was the water goblets at the head table. Nikki’s mother is an avid collector of the goblets from the famous Madonna Inn. As a nod to her, we used her collection on the head table and Nikki hand-picked a colored goblet for each member of the bridal party. As a tribute to Nikki’s German Mennonite heritage, baskets of homemade zweibach (German bread) greeted guests as they sat at their tables and each guest took home a box of pfeffernüsse, made from her grandmother’s recipe.

Rain on your wedding day is never a fun reality, but in this case, it couldn’t have worked out more beautifully. Instead of the original plan to use the garden space for dinner, guests dined in the venue’s glass barn, which provided a gorgeous backdrop of rustic elegance. The various wood tones throughout the venue–in the glass barn and in the garden, were also inspirations for keeping the design down to earth and comfortable. Accents like wood crates and dark wood chairs contrasted the metallic and luxe details for a perfectly balanced design.

French Garden Inspired Wedding Editorial

Wedding Design

Photos by:

Ben Q Photography

Anything beautiful is bound to always catch our eye and that happens quite often over here. Anything French-inspired and beautiful is, without a doubt, going to be something we fall for and as a clear example, this Ben Q Photography wedding editorial is it. It’s inundated with soft, gauzy colors reminiscent of the French countryside, a divine dress, and a personal favorite, those sweet loaves of French bread that are so simple yet so perfect. Kudos to The Southern Table and Events by Kristin for this spectacle. Take us to France already!

French-themed weddings - photo by Ben Q. Photography http://ruffledblog.com/french-garden-inspired-wedding-editorial

From the event and floral designer, The Southern TableInspired by the rolling lavender fields of Provence, we chose a soft, serene palette of pale purples, greys, with pops of peach. The Southern Table combined garden roses, sweet pea, trailing clematis with heuchera leaves, lavender, and bearded irises in organic cement pots for an earthy, yet elegant feel. They paired these loose, organic arrangements with gold trimmed scalloped dinnerware and sleek gold flatware to create this elevated garden look.

Have you spotted the “bread” trend in weddings? We love the idea of couples taking handheld loaves of bread like these French bread loaves or croissants and adding them at each guest’s place setting. It’s a cozy gesture and it’s a fun alternative to just handing them a roll of bread during dinner.

Clark Gardens is a true hidden gem in the North Texas Hill Country. A 50-acre public garden is tucked away down a country road between Weatherford and Mineral Wells.

Waterfall Elopement Wedding Inspiration

Wedding Design

If you’re in need of a gorgeous setting for a wedding or a shoot, there’s really nothing like stepping outside of the box (literally) and heading outdoors. Chelsea Q. White Photography and Ivory & Lace Events headed to their nearest dreamy waterfall, took one look at it, and the ideas for this shoot began to form. To contrast the rugged look of their surroundings, they went for softness everywhere: in the styling and in the muted colors with little pops of brightness thanks to the florals by Moss Floral Design.

From the photographer, Chelsea Q. White Photography: Both Kristen (of Ivory & Lace Events) and I wanted to create a romantic, intimate editorial centered around this gorgeous waterfall just north of the Texas-Oklahoma border. With such beautiful and raw scenery, we wanted to keep the elements minimal yet romantic and organic – something a bride could easily attain if she opted for a low-key wedding celebration.

We imagine our bride, SaraBeth, setting the scene with details like linen napkins and delicate escort cards. The Truvelle gown was the perfect combination of feminine and yet unfussy for a wedding in the outdoors. Her tousled fishtail braid and sweet makeup enhanced her girlish style yet looked natural enough that she could’ve done it on her own. The wild, unstructured flowers added a hint of bohemia to the shoot. We loved the way Moss Floral incorporated the raw silk ribbon from Silk & Willow in the bouquet and a few pops of color in the centerpiece in an otherwise muted environment. As SaraBeth prepared for the big day, we imagined her penning a heartfelt love note to her beholden, the one for whom she waited at the waterfall.

From the planner, Kristen of Ivory & Lace EventsDuring the Christmas holiday last year, I did a lot of hiking with my husband and it turned out to be a huge source of inspiration for this shoot. I wanted to create a look that drew heavily on nature and the natural beauty of the environment that I witnessed during hiking. I wanted an atmosphere that was as elegantly otherworldly as it was natural. The organic beauty of Turner Falls was where we drew inspiration from and was really the cornerstone of the shoot.

There’s no better way to capture a beautifully natural environment with bountiful blooms, free flowing water and long-lingering light. We paired blush-hued florals with soft green foliage and long branches loosely nestling them together in a way that made them seem like they were spilling out of their vases. The long silk ribbon blew in the wind as if to mimic the flow of the waterfall. The gown offers a soft look which was elegantly paired to the ethereal texture of the rocks and surrounding elements. The highlight of this shoot is captured through the colors of the waterfall and the delicate palette that was carefully chosen to balance out the rough terrain of Turner Falls.

Romantic Southern Wedding Ideas

Wedding Design

This wedding inspiration is a southern delight, complete with a sprawling outdoor location, fabulous photos by j.woodbery photography, and darling florals by
The Sonnet House. We definitely weren’t shorted at all on the amount of pretty in this shoot: the design ideas were unreal and one example are those place settings. A heady mix of oyster gray and gold, all set atop a lovely baby pink linen. We could definitely gab all day about this inspiration!

romantic weddings - photo by J Woodbery Photography http://ruffledblog.com/romantic-southern-wedding-ideas

From the photographer, j.woodbery photography: The Sonnet House is one of my absolute favorite venues to work with. Not only is it a gorgeous property, but the folks who own and run it are such a joy to be around! When we started brainstorming for this styled shoot, we were all on the same page for the colors we liked- greens and dusty pink with a pop of dark red, and some fun metallics to add texture. The more we planned and designed, the more excited we got. Everything came together so perfectly that I’m not sure it could’ve been any better! The whole shoot was so amazing and I’m excited to share it for inspiration to brides!

Corey at The Sonnet House did all of the florals (and killed them!). I love that they offer in house florals as well as catering. Magnificent Cakes created a stunning cake and The Heavenly Donut Company joined us with their doughnut truck as a treat as well! Katie and Joseph, our real couple (I actually shot their wedding two years ago!), were so much fun and were looking good in their wedding clothes! Katie had two dresses, both from Bella’s Bridal in Birmingham, one from a private label and one from Kitty Chen. Joseph’s suit and duds were all from Saks. Linens were from Decor to Adore, paperie from Max and Mila, makeup by Katina Carter, and the motorcycle borrowed from a friend.

Timeless Romance Wedding Inspiration

Wedding Design

Just like our weddings, we love beautiful wedding dresses and bridesmaids’ dresses to gawk at. We could stare at them for hours and hours and today’s shoot by Wesley Vorster Photography is going to tide us over for a while. Mon Amour Events pulled out all of the stops when it came to the inspiration for this, hauling in romance, lovely gowns, and sweetness all rolled into one neatly-tied package. Anli Wahl Floral Design‘s creations are impressive to say the least, from the ceiling arrangements to the handheld ones, these fleurs are beauties. This one is pin-worthy, for sure!

From the event designer, Mon Amour Events: This shoot is everything that makes a wedding beautiful – romantic, elegant, timeless and with a hint of playfulness. We wanted to bring forward an idea of what could be possible for future bridal couples, as with many styled shoots us as suppliers in the industry love to test boundaries, but this sometimes it doesn’t always make this practically possible for many brides. This shoot allows present brides to still keep trendy but keep themselves grounded to what they really love! In showing brides that it is possible to be adventurous such as possibly suspending a chandelier onto the table or even having lights within floral arrangements.

We wanted to keep to the classical “theme” by have beautiful soft pinks and whites complemented with lush greenery by the ever talented Anli Wahl Floral Design. We thought to add in extra sparkle by adding accents of gold through out the table to modernize the over all look. The touches of subtle pinks and nude colouring on the stationery created by She Is Visual, allowed us to play around with accents of gold on each place setting and really make it a focal point to the table. Uniqueness can be done! – that is what makes it so special, and should the bride not want so many florals we changed up the look by having just candles on the table, it is not only timeless but creates a warm atmosphere and whimsical feel.

Romantic California Oceanside Wedding

Romantic Weddings

Photos by:

Anna Delores

When you come across a wedding venue that’s got ridiculously beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean, you fall in love with it almost immediately. We can’t blame Tennesseans Liz and Anton for jumping at the chance to get married here; it’s so surreal! Anna Delores was there to snap all of the sublime views, along with the romantic, minimalist design that the couple wanted Wedding Kate to execute. With the help of the beautiful peony-and-rose arrangements from Coco Rose Design, we think Liz and Anton’s wedding vision came to life ten-fold.

California weddings - photo by Anna Delores Photography http://ruffledblog.com/romantic-california-oceanside-wedding

From the event planner and designer, Katie: From the moment I found out Liz’s wedding was on the same day as my 30th birthday, I just had to be part of it. Her sweet Tennessee accent is as intoxicating as sweet tea and her warm, welcoming demeanor is pure southern belle. Liz fell in love with the Bacara Resort and Spa and knew that the way she wanted to celebrate was with her closest friends and family in beautiful Santa Barbara. The couple loved how reminiscent it was of Napa but with incredible ocean views to write home about. The wedding day arrived with moody skies and lots of excitement. We kept the wine country feeling through her design plans, incorporating organic elements through florals and linen selections.

The ceremony was perched above the pacific, with vast sweeping views of the California coastline. We used lots of greens and white blooms to accent the property’s natural beauty, with an alter that allowed the focus to be on the bride and groom. We designed the reception in the resort’s Spa Cafe, which features a beautiful stacked stone accent wall and stunning architectural details. Guests enjoyed a dinner focused around wine pairings, with a locally sourced menu. Dancing went late into the night with a special “Happy Birthday” song by the bride for her wedding planner. Lucky me!

From the bride, Liz: For our wedding, we wanted something romantic and rustic and we didn’t want it to be very formal. We went with an all-white theme for the colors with very minimal color elsewhere. The idea was that everything was off-white or cream with a little green from the flowers.

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? My biggest word of advice would be to hire a wedding planner! It is a must! We couldn’t have done it without Katie Seefeldt. She took care of everything and made the entire process run smoothly. We live in Memphis, Tennessee so having somebody there in California was crucial.

Elegant Blush Pink Canadian Wedding

Elegant Weddings

Some days, you just need a big heaping of the sweetest colors to stare in awe at, and we think that blush pink is one of those colors. It’s a fine hue that always brings out the girly side in us and we could stare at anything blush pink for hours on end. Luckily for us, when this beautiful Jenn Kavanagh Photography wedding fell into our laps, we had plenty of pretty to look at. This lovely Canadian fête is all about elegance and Sue Gallo Designs worked her magic all over Katelyn and Philip’s big day. We can’t decide what we love more overall: the unparalleled wedding style or the bride’s dress that fit her to a T!

pink wedding details - photo by Jenn Kavanagh Photography http://ruffledblog.com/blush-pink-canadian-wedding

From the photographer, Jenn Kavanagh Photography: Katelyn and Philip’s Hamilton wedding was a pleasure to witness. Everyone agreed in their speeches that their love is so pure, so true and meant to be, that you just can’t help but smile and know that on May 21st, they made the best choice ever!

Even though Katelyn initially spent their first date thinking Phil’s name was actually Stan, they got over the misunderstanding, laughed it off, and have been side by side ever since. Their love bloomed ‘across the pond’ and they have since made the move back to Canada, where Philip can now enjoy all of the Tim Horton’s (his latest obsession) we have to offer.

Elegant Australian Garden Wedding

Romantic Weddings

We think everyone loves a great destination wedding, and so we’re off to Perth, Australia today to get a look at Alysha and Ricky’s trendy garden wedding. Captured by Katie Grant PhotographyCD Weddings turned the outdoor location into an absolutely lovely paradise and to enhance the feel of it, Natural Art Flowers swept in with romantic centerpieces and the sweetest pink peonies that just pop out at you the moment you start rifling through the photos.

From the bride, Alysha: Our colour theme was based around drift wood, blush, gold and a touch of sage. Every little detail of the wedding was given individual attention and thought out, which meant a lot of time was put into personalizing every last detail. It was so important to us to have everything just so, ensuring it really reflected the two of us as a couple. Both Rick and I were so lucky to have met the vendors we did and have such talented people helping us create our dream Wedding. Phenomenal experience, one we are so grateful for and will forever be a beautiful lasting memory.

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? Enjoy and embrace every moment from the start being the whole planning process and to the very end being the moment you get back to your room from the Wedding. A lot of Brides I know see the planning stage as quite a stressful process, which yes at times it can be, but I think with the right team behind you and provided everything is meant to be, it should come together easily. Enjoy and embrace the journey and trust your instincts.

From the event designer, CD Weddings: Alysha and Ricky love all things nature. Alysha wanted garden roses incorporated into her wedding, so I called our theme “The rose garden by the forest.” When we designed the invitations, we wanted the guests to think they entered a rose garden through an old wooden gate. Ricky wanted a cigar station, so with the help of Alysha’s Mum who has a special talent in finding rare items, we had a fabulous area for the guys to chill out. Every guest found a rock on their place setting to sign and Alysha will later place them into a shadow box for keepsake. The rock also helped keeping the menu and napkin down as the wind was quite strong on that day! Every bridesmaid has a traditional posy, but with this wedding I suggested for them to be paired up to carry a heart, a garland and the flower girls both had a bow and arrow. This is a very close-knit family, so we had a special table set up in the middle of the tent for the whole family to sit on with a special hanging structure made out of robes, lanterns and flowers.

Must-See Sophisticated Chateau Wedding in Cannes

Elegant Weddings

Photos by:

Greg Finck

Break out your passports, luggage, and your finest French gal chic because this Greg Finck fête will have you yearning to hop on the next plane headed for Cannes. We couldn’t believe how superbly lavish Hanah and Mahi’s château wedding was and we know that Lavender & Rose pulled out all of the stops to enhance the already-gorgeous surroundings of this Cannes château. With this venue and a beautiful couple to boot, Miss Rose by Perrine somehow managed to add more jawdroppers to this wedding with a stunning structure encased in lush greens for the main table. We’re on permanent swoon mode with this beauty.

From the photographer, Greg Finck: Hanah and Mahi are a couple from Dubai, who got married at the wonderful Château de la Napoule in Cannes. This was undoubtedly one of my most beautiful weddings of last year, perfectly designed and planned as usual by Lavender&Rose, defined by a green color palette. Floral design by Miss Rose by Perrine was at the center of this beautiful day, with an amazing structure for the main table. Food was absolutely exquisite by Potel&Chabot.

If you’re hunting around for your wedding colors and you’re going for a classic style, white and green paired together will never go out of trend. It’s clean and simple, but can be dressed up to the most elegant proportions. Hanah and Mahi’s tablescape decor is so effortless and the candles add the perfect touch of romance.

Romantic Botanical Garden Wedding Ideas

Wedding Design

Today, we’re heading into Chicago to find some lovely garden wedding inspiration in the midst of this beautiful and bustling city. With Beso Weddings & Events at the forefront of the conceptualizing and Kristin La Voie Photography behind the lens, it’s no doubt this styled shoot was going to be anything but amazing. It’s full of rich ruby reds to start off with, and it’s rounded off with impressive color accents like gold and champagne that Natural Beauties Floral, Inc. were clearly beyond thrilled to play with; those floral designs are out of this world!

fall wedding ideas - photo by Kristin La Voie Photography http://ruffledblog.com/romantic-botanical-garden-wedding-ideas

From the photographer, Kristin: When we initially sat down with Gabriela of Beso Weddings & Events, we knew we wanted to create a European-inspired wedding look set in a venue that was not your typical Chicago scene. Chicago Botanic Gardens has numerous gardens, each with its own personality and style, and their English walled garden was the exact look we were after; romantic, colorful, and intimate. Every detail was chosen with this precise vision in mind and thoughtfully designed and executed perfectly by Gabriela and our amazing team of vendors.

Even if your wedding is set to take place in the fall or winter months, white is still a beautiful color to use in and around your wedding decor to enhance your color palette of choice. We love the concept of using stark white crossback chairs like these at an indoor or outdoor wedding ceremony. It makes any ceremony chair decor really pop, especially with those deep and moody, cool weather colors seen here.

Garden Pacific Northwest Wedding

Romantic Weddings

As if we don’t dish out enough, here is some beautiful wedding eye-candy from the astounding lens of Amanda K Photography. Taylor and Mike’s nuptials in Seattle focused heavily on the beauty of the Pacific Northwest, while also incorporating natural and earthy tones you can’t ever go wrong with. Stacy Anderson Design kept the blooms elegant in tone and style and Alexis Marie Events wrangled all of the fine details of the day to make sure that even in a rainstorm typical for the northwest, everything was still a vision to behold.

From the bride, Taylor: My vision was sort of a mish mash of a few different themes: A garden wedding, with the feeling of a seaside affair while paying tribute to the Pacific Northwest. With guests coming from all over the country, we wanted them to really have a great time. I wanted lots of lush greenery and ferns, soft natural tones, lush florals, and elements like sun bleached mussel shells strewn on the dining tables and a raw oyster station to bring in the ocean. I was aiming for elegant, earthy and personalized.

I also wanted a huge emphasis on photographs. We made a large display table inside with dozens of framed family photos, ranging from antique portraits of my grandmother’s wedding day to photos of our parents as kids, and everything in between. We had a few baby and family photo albums on display, and then I got tons of loose prints made as well. My aim was for every guest at the wedding to be able to find themselves in a photograph somewhere – loose prints we strewn onto the coffee tables and high tops for people to be able to thumb through during cocktail hour. We also had a photo booth for some fun candids, and our guestbook was our trusty little Fuji film Polaroid camera.

We didn’t have a ton of DIY elements, but we had tons of personalized elements throughout the day. What we did create was the escort card display, where I pasted cards into a vintage window we bought. My talented cousin created sketches that we used in lieu of table numbers, highlighting all the different locations that Mike and I have lived or hold dear to us. It was a really wonderful way to incorporate all the traveling and moving we have done, while simultaneously including our guests who had come in from or also cherish all those various locations. We also chose coffee as our favors (Seattle, duh!), but chose the brand based on its name, Herkimer coffee – Herkimer is a county in rural upstate NY, and between my family’s vacation home up there and Mike’s family being from Rochester NY, everyone instantly recognized the coincidence in the name and loved it! We had stamps made by my friend Allison, using the calligraphy that Libby designed for us, and stamped all the coffee with our “logo”. Also, my brother graciously made a customized corn hole set for us by hand! We also created cards for each guest’s seat, thanking them for joining us and reminding them how much it meant to us.

Along with the dozens of photographs that we brought, we also brought about half of our home to be used as decor! The rug we stood on during our ceremony was my grandmother’s; Mike was wearing his grandfather’s tie clip; we brought a vintage globe and old wooden soda crate for the guest book display; lots of brass candlesticks and trays to place around the venue; my brother played guitar as I walked down the aisle with my dad, and the song he played was “Here Comes the Sun”, which was my parents’ recessional song at their own wedding; instead of a reading or poem during the ceremony, we had Mike’s mom prepare some thoughts on love and marriage, which she shared and moved everyone; instead of a stranger, we had Mike’s brother-in-law marry us; we brought in the ferns to adorn the aisle, and the coffee favors sat on my grandmother’s old tray table.

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? If things don’t go the way you planned, don’t sweat it! You’re the only two (and your planner) who know that it didn’t go “your way” – your guests won’t ever know! Some things, big or small, are bound to go wrong.

Romantic Wedding Inspiration in an Old Textile Mill

Wedding Design

Photos by:

Charla Storey

First things first: today’s shoot has some beautiful photography by Charla Storey, no doubt about that. Secondly, we completely understand why Grit + Gold wanted to get first dibs on having an inspiration shoot in The BRIK on the verge of their grand opening. This place has such a lovely blend of industrial, modern, and vintage, and those wide open spaces are perfect for crafting whatever tablescape styles to your heart’s content. Which is exactly what they did! With superb floral work from Oh Deery, they transformed this textile mill-turned-epic wedding venue into a romantic spot, complete with a vintage-style wedding dress, gauzy fabrics on anything that would stay put, and yummy eats.

vintage wedding dresses - photo by Charla Storey http://ruffledblog.com/romantic-wedding-inspiration-in-an-old-textile-mill

From the wedding planner, Grit + Gold: When this team hears about a new venue on the brink of opening, what do we do? We pull a fab team together and christen the place. The BRIK, an old textile mill with raw wood floors, shabby white brick walls, and huge windows lends the perfect formula to create the most romantic of settings. I wanted to style several food displays in the shoot to really give the images living and breathing qualities rather than just perfectly staged displays. I wanted it to feel as though each image was interactive with the audience. Something that the person looking at it would relate to. Possibly the reminiscence of a grandmother or watching mom prepare a table at home with a great spread of food. Then taking those emotions and infusing them into a bride’s most important day.

Catalina Point Oceanview Wedding

Romantic Weddings

It was just impossible to not be so enamored with this west coast wedding. Not only are the ocean views of the Pacific sheer bliss, but the heaps and heaps of purple and silver are incredible. Dave Richards Photography was thankfully present to capture the day, and every detail of this wedding was on point thanks to the planning expertise of Katie over at Bob Gail Special Events. Filling the reception with even more purple to look at, Hollyflora went wild with the arrangements of very classic lavender and plum-colored blooms. The pretty in this California wedding is almost too much to handle!

From the bride, Alexa: We wanted to embrace the natural elements of the resort but also make it feel like a west coast fall, which is why we went with vibrant purples and a classic, timeless feel. We went with a variety of purples as our main color with touches of silver.

Central Park Cherry Blossom Bridal Shoot

Wedding Design

Cherry blossoms have always been such wonderful blooms to look at. Being around only during certain times of the year adds to their darling appeal. When you live in a location that has clusters upon clusters of them during the warm months, it’s a must to get a bridal inspiration shoot together and that’s exactly what Brklyn View Photography did, luckily for us! Jainé enlisted the help of Wild Floral Designs and they headed out to Central Park to spend a day under the cherry blossom trees. They wanted to enhance the soft pink blooms, so a pink jewel toned color palette for the floral arrangements were chosen, along with very elegant gowns with embroidery that mimicked the surroundings. We’re just soaking up the loveliness of this whole shoot!

From the photographer, Jainé of Brklyn View Photography: I’m delighted to share our pink inspired Cherry Blossom bridal inspiration shoot. This was photographed in NYC Central Park at the peak of the cherry blossoms – so pretty! We were inspired by pops of pink and bright berry colors with our floral design. Our bride had two outfit changes but we used the same dress and just swapped out the top/skirt with delicate separates to achieve two different looks.

This Calligrapher’s Wedding is Elegant Bliss

Elegant Weddings

What an absolute treat this wedding is! From the perspective of Allison Kuhn Photography, we get to see another talented wedding pro work on a wedding and it’s her very own. Bride Megan is a calligrapher so naturally, when it came to her own nuptials, she pulled out all of the stops and designed a stunner. Of course, all of the paper goods were amazing, and like the rest of the wedding, the florals by New Creations Flower Co. were beyond dreamy.

pink wedding bouquet - photo by Allison Kuhn Photography http://ruffledblog.com/this-calligraphers-wedding-is-elegant-bliss

From the photographer, Allison Kuhn Photography: Megan and Chris were married this past May at the Separk Mansion in North Carolina. Megan is a calligrapher and created and designed a gorgeous wedding. Every guest had watercolored escort card in addition to a silk ribbon at their table with their name calligraphed upon it. One of the most stunning details were Megan’s black, purple and gold invitation suite which she designed. To compliment all of Megan’s amazing details, Melanie of New Creations Flower Co. created a beautiful floral design upon the tables utilizing black candles throughout purple and dusty pink florals. The green ring that Megan wore was Chris’s mom’s ring who passed away several years ago. The couple was all smiles the whole day, and it couldn’t be a more perfect wedding.

Adding your wedding ceremony line-up and procession of events to a mirror like this such a chic idea. It’s such a cool decor piece and it’s great for small wedding ceremonies with small wedding parties.

Love Katie + Sarah

We always feel giddy to share beautiful weddings like this one, even more when it’s by Love Katie + Sarah. This Yarra Valley gem was brought to life with floral design by Blooming Brides having Stones of the Yarra Valley as the most gorgeous canvas for a wedding reception.

From the bride, Vanessa: Everyone says your wedding is the best day of your life, and that has definitely been our experience. It’s great to be able to share our special day with others, and provide some inspiration for all the brides-to-be out there! Here we go…

When we were searching for wedding venues, a friend suggested we look at Stones of the Yarra Valley. I knew from the moment we arrived on our reccy that we had found ‘the one’. Because Stones is such a beautiful venue in its own right, I wanted my vendors to complement the beautiful rustic, country feel of the place. I wanted to work with the stunning autumnal colours of the vineyard and the soft country light this time of year. I knew I wanted to be married outside under the giant oak tree there, so there was always the intention to incorporate the natural surroundings throughout the wedding. The jazz band played a huge role in creating the relaxed vibe on the day, and our amazing florist Rita did the most incredible job of bringing my floral vision to life.

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? Start early with your planning and be mindful of actually enjoying the process, because your wedding day goes by so quickly. Create a mood board on Pinterest or from magazine clippings, but have a very clear idea of your main priorities and overall themes. Having a clear idea of what you’re going after makes it easier to sift through the enormous amount of inspiration you’ll come across, and makes decision making easier. Also, create a budget and stick to it!

Wedding Music:
Processional: “It Had to be You,” Frank Sinatra
One of my dear friends, Alexandra, sang us “The Luckiest” by Ben Folds Five during the ceremony – her rendition was so beautiful, it brought tears to everyone’s eyes
Recessional: “Honeysuckle Rose,” Django Reinhardt
First Dance: “Cheek to Cheek,” Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald
Our band was sensational! I gave them a list of our favourite jazz songs and they totally nailed the brief.

Charming California Engagement Session

Engagement Sessions

This engagement session here is seriously the stuff dreams are made of. It’s heartfelt, it’s got a beautiful couple, and it’s got Angelica Chang Photography capturing it all. When we came across Eunice and Matt’s charming California engagement session in Malibu, we fawned over everything from their sweet Thailand proposal at the Yee Peng Lana Lantern Festival to their fashion-forward sartorial choices. Not to mention, the outdoor setting for this e-sesh is so unreal and absolutely breathtaking.

From the bride, Eunice: For our engagement session, we envisioned a soft, rustic, and beachy session with lots of lace and color coordination! We’re getting married at the 1909 in Topanga Canyon in September, so we wanted everything to flow and match thoroughly! We truly wanted our pictures to capture our love and rustic classy style.   Read more

Take a look at this beauty of a shoot courtesy of Live View StudiosMichelle Wright Events certainly knew what they were doing when they breathed this inspiration into life. It’s chock-full of flirty and feminine details, a cool “day-to-night” must-see, the prettiest blooms by Wylde Flowers, and a classic ball gown suited for a royal princess.

Delicate Modern Wedding Inspiration - photo by Live View Studios http://ruffledblog.com/delicate-modern-wedding-inspiration

From the event designer, Michelle Wright EventsCherry blossoms, or Sakura, are notable throughout Japanese history in their literature, art and poetry. The soft pink bloom of a cherry blossom is both beautiful and brief, leaving admirers in wonderment every spring. Osho, a spiritual leader born in India, once said, “Life is nothing but an opportunity for love to blossom. If you are alive, the opportunity is there – even to the last breath. You may have missed your whole life: just the last breath, the last moment on the earth, if you can be love, you have not missed anything – because a single moment of love is equal to the whole eternity of love.” The perfect, yet fleeting bloom of the cherry blossom fully embodies Osho’s sentiments on love and serves as the perfect inspiration for our photo shoot.

Romantic Wedding Shoot Turned Proposal

Wedding Design

When we receive a beautiful shoot like this one from Courtney Leigh Photography, we know we’re already in for a treat. In this editorial, Chalie and Andrew were surrounded by lush, woodsy elements that were enhanced through Blush and Vine‘s lovely bouquets and floral arrangements, along with the dreamy tablescape by Jade Magnolia. As we dove more into it, we found out that this wedding inspiration turned into an epic marriage proposal caught on film and we got even more giddy than we already were. There’s no better way to end a shoot like this one!

romantic wedding ideas - photo by Courtney Leigh Photography http://ruffledblog.com/romantic-wedding-shoot-turned-proposal

From the photographer, Courtney Leigh Photography: This beautiful wedding inspiration shoot was inspired by earthy elements, neutral tones and pops of gold and dusty blue. The best part? This styled shoot romantically turned into a real life proposal for the sweet couple, Chalie and Andrew. It was such a memorable moment to capture and the moments following the proposal are my absolute favorite images from the shoot. This one definitely goes down as an all time favorite of mine throughout my photography career and so many talented teams helped bring my vision to life.

Pablo Neruda Wedding Inspiration

Wedding Design

There’s nothing dreamier in the world of poets than Pablo Neruda and his romantic sonnets. With phrases like “I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where” (perfect for vows, right?), it was only a matter of time before beautiful wedding inspiration was born from these verses. A loud thank you to For the Love of Juneau for the wonderful photos with oodles of ideas to fawn over, Simply Charming Socials for the darling shoot and all of the creativity woven into it, and to Studio Aesthete for mimicking romance into flowers.

romantic wedding invitations - photo by For the Love of Juneau http://ruffledblog.com/pablo-neruda-wedding-inspiration

From designer and stylist, Kristine Cholakian Cooke of Simply Charming SocialsOur creative team collaborated in the mountains of North Georgia to create a dreamy elopement editorial shoot inspired by the romantic words of Sonnet XVII by Pablo Neruda. From the poem, we interpreted phrases such as “salt rose” and “the light of those flowers”… We wanted to display romance in it’s most raw form and the day was captured just so by Briana Luders of For the Love of Juneau.

art decor engagement rings - photo by For the Love of Juneau http://ruffledblog.com/pablo-neruda-wedding-inspiration

groom's suits - photo by For the Love of Juneau http://ruffledblog.com/pablo-neruda-wedding-inspiration

wedding hairdos - photo by For the Love of Juneau http://ruffledblog.com/pablo-neruda-wedding-inspiration

In designing the shoot, we chose a palette of crema, sandalwood, mauve, mulberry, sea foam, and stone and incorporated these new neutrals into each element of the elopement from florals to place settings. Sweet words of lettered poetry adorn gauzy fabric and stepping stones. Lairsey Paper Co. also penned a full invitation suite in mulberry hued ink and we finished it off with vintage stamps. The flames of taper candles, a breezy gown, and rich lush blooms all provide movement and texture. We wanted each moment to feel natural and romantic as the wind blew. A hanging floral installation but Studio Aesthete sets the scene for vows. Mauve is the key color here, highlighted by an incredible panel of neutrals and punctuated by deep mulberry.

The bride and groom are dressed beautiful in very textured fabrics. The Elizabeth Dye gown, with it’s lengthy train and flowy long sleeves drapes so well on the auburn haired bride. And paired with a silk tulle veil from The Sentimentalist and a modern updo and fresh makeup by Hope Ferguson, she looks timeless. The groom is handsomely dressed in a fitted wool suit by Commonwealth Proper, a favorite custom menswear shop in Atlanta. The colored flecks in his suit and tie complement the beautiful tone in his eyes. During the ceremony couple reads the sweetest words to each other in an intimate canopy of greenery and garland and also joins their fabric-swathed hands in an old-world wedding ritual.

Cool Teal Wedding Inspiration

Wedding Design

Photos by:

Sanaz Photography

When the weather is lovely outside, it’s natural to take wedding inspiration cues from the outdoors. In this shoot produced by Be Inspired PR with photos from Sanaz PhotographyDeanna Nash EventsFoxtail Florals, and the awesome team of vendors that collaborated together reined in ideas from the cool blues and greens of the ocean and those lazy days spent by the water, soaking up the sun. That sounds so romantic, doesn’t it?

From the event planner, Deanna Nash Events: With summer fast approaching, our minds turn to warm breezes and the crystal blue and green waters of the summer seas. For this styled shoot, we wanted to recreate the feeling and romance of summer days spent on the water paired with our favorite wedding details. To add a twist of the unexpected, we joined the water-colored hues of the sea with an industrial background to create a fun wedding that could be re-imagined in any setting.

Chic Bridesmaid Dress Inspiration

Wedding Design

It’s safe to say that this styled shoot not only won our hearts, but also tugged on our heartstrings. Photographed by Tiffany Von Photography and planned and styled by both Whim Events and The Everyday Co., this shoot was dreamed up through the idea of brides gifting their bridesmaids sweet handkerchiefs on the day of the wedding as a sign of appreciation and love for being there through the wedding planning stages and simply, just being there. Love that! Aside from heaps of emotion, the shoot took a muted stance in terms of color and featured beautiful, cool-toned Monique Lhuillier bridesmaids dresses and floral arrangements from Whim Events that would rival any garden.

wedding calligraphy ideas - photo by Tiffany Vonn Photography http://ruffledblog.com/muted-and-neutral-bridesmaid-dress-inspiration

From the planner and designer, Whim Events: This season, we have noticed a major shift in bridal party “gifting.” More and more couples are asking our team to source beautiful, sentimental gifts to ensure their wedding party feels appreciated and loved. We designed and planned this shoot with the thoughtful and purposeful bride in mind. This vision for this shoot was to create an unforgettable bridesmaid experience and a way for the bride to artfully thank her girlfriends for their years of companionship and devotion. Set in the luxurious bridal suite of the Ames Hotel Boston, we designed a day-of setting to reflect what every bride and her maids should experience – a relaxing and joyful day, prepping in a airy and beautiful environment while receiving the ultimate pampering. And with that comes the emotional moment for every bride; thanking her best friends with the most thoughtful and heartfelt keepsakes.

Savannah is one of those cities that we’re always giddy to feature weddings from. This one by Rach Loves Troy is full of modern + romantic details. Amber and Paul’s beautiful Savannah fête styled to a T by Ivory + Beau is complete with historical venue and a Sarah Seven gown to boot!

Savannah weddings - photo by Rach Loves Troy http://ruffledblog.com/foraged-savannah-wedding

From the wedding coordinators, Ivory + Beau: Amber + Paul got married last October, and are one of our favorite couples we got to work with! Amber came into the shop looking for a wedding dress, and after trying on lot’s of different styles, she chose Marion by Sarah Seven. This strapless lace gown features Sarah Seven’s signature corset bodice with lace ruching, and a delicate train. We LOVE her style, and she wore the coolest necklace ever that had touches of navy, her main color. We added a velvet navy sash which really showed off her tiny waist, and her hair and makeup worked perfectly.

Jones Photography was one of the creatives behind this ultra-feminine shoot and it was nothing short of fun ideas, interesting concepts, and a delightful color palette. Drawing inspiration from vintage wallpaper and the latest watercolor trend making splashes in the wedding world, this shoot went above and beyond to show us a side of vintage and florals that calls back to a time of daintiness, softness, and elegance.

From the photographer, B. Jones Photography: The idea behind our romantic watercolor shoot was to combine the beauty found in the imperfect. We’ve been loving the incomplete edges found in classic watercolor paintings, as well as the comeback that vintage wallpaper has been making in interior design. With inspiration from both design stances, you will find a wooden backdrop styling a gorgeous wallpaper and overgrown florals, as well as peach and olive green watercolor accents across the tablescape, cakes, and invitation suite. This look is for the bride who wants to add vintage touches to her wedding while maintaining a very classic look.
