Colorful Summer Camp Wedding Editorial

Wedding Design

Whimsical and lighthearted are always the words that come to mind when thinking about summer camp, and this wedding editorial from the lens of L.A. Birdie Photography captured all of those feel-good emotions that camp brings minus the pesky bugs. Mobtown Florals dressed up every ideal spot of the venue with heaps of colorful flowers and detail, all very reminiscent of a fun camp summer. One thing we are so in love with is the addition of those grown-up and delish cocktails and to our delight, the recipes for them are below — you definitely won’t see those at camp!

From the photographer, L.A. Birdie PhotographyFrom the floral chandelier dripping with colors to the sweeping movement of the Sarah Seven gown from Lovely Bride, this shoot inspires fun as well as glamour. Camp Puh’tok, a camp and venue near Baltimore, Maryland, was the perfect sunny backdrop for this late summer inspiration. The months of July and August can be a hot time for weddings in the Mid-Atlantic area, but not if your venue has lots of shady trees and a pool in the sunshine!

The women at Mobtown Florals did an incredible job combining years of their curated tablescape pieces with fresh, colorful flowers, arranged in an organic and cheerful style. Along with a stunning sweetheart picnic table, they designed several inspirational tables for guests to enjoy at a summer camp wedding. That included a hot chocolate bar and s’mores bar whimsical woods table with some of the couple’s favorite pieces from their travels and adventures together, and a cake table complete with flowers galore.

Perez at Ratio Craft and Beverage created not one, but two custom cocktails for this midsummer celebration – the Airstream Driver and the Wanderlust Punch! (Recipes listed below.) They’re sure to set a fun, festive tone for brides’ summer camp weddings. When the day of the shoot arrived, everything just fell into place. The inspiration was flowing and the artists were on point. The team for this shoot was equally talented and upbeat. I had a backyard wedding myself and love how features like this add to the casual but pretty side of wedding inspiration!

Romantic Philadelphia Horticulture Center Wedding

Romantic Weddings

Winter weddings can have their tricky moments to plan, but Carrie and Mike carried out their Philadelphia wedding day with such finesse and Redfield Photography skillfully captured all of the goodness on camera. We love that they chose a greenhouse setting and brought in beautiful, deep, jewel red colors and floral arrangements by their event and floral designer, Q|A Events; it brought a fun, vibrant feel to the whole event while keeping in line with the season. This is definitely one ultra-creative way to do a cool-seasoned wedding!

winter brides - photo by Redfield Photography http://ruffledblog.com/romantic-philadelphia-horticulture-center-wedding

From the bride, Carrie: We envisioned a warm, romantic, bohemian feel for the wedding.  We originally wanted something laid back, but when we picked a winter wedding date we decided to dress it up a little bit while trying to keep the bohemian feel. We didn’t really have a color scheme, but we chose marsala and berry tones for our flowers because we thought it would compliment the greenery in the venue as well as the bridal party attire. We didn’t do any DIY projects, but I worked very closely with the event designers and I think we designed something amazing together!

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? Start as early as possible and stay organized! Also, when things get overwhelming, make sure you take some time alone with your fiancé to have some fun together. It’s simple, but I think it was the only thing that kept me sane.

Elegant African-Inspired Mountain Wedding

Elegant Weddings

There’s something so beautiful about each wedding set against a mountain backdrop. Utah native Tyler Rye Photography captured Raynesha and Dominic’s beautiful day, and he documented all of the impressive decor by Forevermore Events and beautiful moments, even when the rain started pouring. With a strong desire to incorporate their African heritage throughout their wedding, bloomers flower & decor took cues from Raynesha and Dominic to use South Africa’s national flower and the latest hot bloom, king protea, in their arrangements. We could go on all day about this beautiful wedding but the pictures speak better for themselves.

elegant Utah weddings - photo by Tyler Rye Photography http://ruffledblog.com/elegant-african-inspired-mountain-wedding

From the bride, Raynesha: I wanted to be on top of world when I said forever. I wanted to capture the love and the way my husband looked at me in total admiration. I always wanted to get married in the mountains or somewhere outdoors because there is something so magical about nature. I envisioned a little bit of everything. I wanted touches of rich colors and gold to give a regal feel. I wanted to bring a small touch of African symbolism to celebrate our heritage. Our colors were blush, wine, and gold. Our theme was rustic elegance with a touch of African inspiration. My husband got crafty and decorated the broom we jumped over to commemorate an African-American tradition. He used burlap fabric from Michael’s which was wrapped at various stages up the handle with burgundy and gold ribbons from Ace Hardware using a hot glue gun and gold craft wire. Instead of pouring sand for unity, we used dirt from our childhood homes to join together and we plan on using that dirt to plant a tree at our first home.

Desert Bloom Wedding Inspiration

Wedding Design

There’s nothing quite like the boho wedding trend lately. It’s got equal parts glamour, vintage, and modern all rolled into one very pretty wedding package. When you’re doing a shoot with this inspiration style in mind, it’s almost a must to host it in the desert. In this Jennifer Fujikawa Photography shoot, this concept came to life and just bloomed. Thanks to the lovely lace dresses and the wonderful tablescape, this shoot had its fair share of elegance while keeping with the earthy, desert vibe. Naturally, FlorUnique took to the surroundings as inspiration and brought in bouquets decorated with succulents, baby pink roses and peonies, protea, and accents like peach hypericum berries and blue thistle. No matter what your style is, this inspiration shoot is one to definitely check out!

Desert Bloom Wedding Inspiration - photo by Jennifer Fujikawa Photography http://ruffledblog.com/desert-bloom-wedding-inspiration

From the photographer, Jennifer Fujikawa Photography: This is an elegant desert wedding inspiration shoot at Joshua Tree for the bride with a more elegant style that still wants to embrace the desert vibe and its natural surroundings. The dresses are lovely lace with a soft mint pastel for the bridesmaid and the table settings are elegant gold/white with blue crystal that echoes the colors of the desert.

This shoot from Elle Rose Photo is your golden ticket for summer. Taking a break from the beloved blush pink and neutral palettes, Cheers! Chicago dreamt up this happy color palette of hot pinks, bright oranges, and bright blues. Hello Darling brought in the gorgeous florals that stole the show. Grab a popsicle and join us:

bright colors wedding ideas - photo by Elle Rose Photo http://ruffledblog.com/summer-vibes-wedding-inspiration/

From the event planners, Cheers! Chicago: We decided to inject our shoot with bold, bright, vibrant colors in a fabulous variety of floral textures to spice things up for spring and summer! The florals by Hello Darling were truly the focal point of our shoot, showcasing individual, eye-catching arrangements in unique, asymmetrical gold vases that would make your eyes travel up and down the length of of our decor “runner”. Windy City Linen provided a soft pink lamour linen for our main table that we covered with a lace overlay, ensuring the delicate lace pattern detail wouldn’t get lost underneath the busy blooms. Chez was the perfect setting for our shoot with its chic, white wall s- we knew the striking colors and pops of gold from the flatware, geometric balls, urchins, and lanterns would really pop on a such a simple, clean space.

Modern Downtown Savannah Wedding

Modern Weddings

Today’s wedding is hailing from the ever-beautiful Savannah, Georgia. When you have plenty of lovely sights and scenery in this town, it’s no wonder why Emily and Adam wanted to say their I Do’s here. Mackensey Alexander Photography captured the couple’s beautiful wedding day along with all of the very fine details with it. This warm-colored wedding adds such a heavy dash of sophistication and modernity, and what we love the most is that the couple came up with the design all on their own with Ivory + Beau helping them execute their vision.  They kept the color palette toned down and went for cool browns and soft neutrals, and then went bold with the flowers and enlisted Colonial House of Flowers for their skills. This elegant fête is one for the books!

savannah weddings - photo by Mackensey Alexander Photography http://ruffledblog.com/modern-downtown-savannah-wedding

From the bride, Emily: Adam and I wanted our wedding to feel like an intimate, joyful dinner with our friends and family. We wanted our wedding to feel formal yet understated, modern yet warm, and elegant yet relaxed. We wanted every moment to genuinely feel like us, and to reflect our joy. More than anything, we wanted to give our guests the opportunity to feel our love – both the love between Adam and me, and the love we have for all of them.

Romantic Papel Picado Wedding Inspiration

Wedding Design

With inspiration stemming from the delicate designs intrinsic to papel picado, Jessica Cooper Photography set out to create a styled shoot using the decorative paper. Sweet Caroline provided the incredible bridal fashion, a two-piece stunner with a blush pink skirt that couldn’t possibly evoke more romance than it already does, and Papertini put together some of the most beautiful floral arrangements we’ve ever seen!

135milimetros

The second we saw the Cristallini gown in this bridal shoot from 135milimetros, we stopped in our tracks. Soft blue-grey lace, a dusty mauve skirt, plus an illusion neckline? Utter perfection. Add in the most jaw-dropping scenery straight from Portugal, and you’ve got the ideal bridal inspiration shoot.

From the photographers, 135milimetros: Some weeks ago we got the desire to do this styled shoot. “We have to!” – that was our feeling. When we feel this onset of inspiration we never second guess it and we always go ahead, even when that transforms the whole logistics into the greatest adventure.

Spanish Bohemian Beach Inspiration

Wedding Design

Romantic weddings on the beach — they’ll never cease to make our hearts swell. Today’s styled shoot comes all the way from Spain, where a talented team including Charlotte van den Berg, Love & Memories, and Flors Bahí put together this beautiful boho inspired wedding on the beaches of Costa Brava. Wait until you sneak a peek of the incredible cake!

Spanish bohemian beach inspiration - photo by Charlotte van den Berg http://ruffledblog.com/spanish-bohemian-beach-inspiration

From the event designers, Love & Memories: On Tuesday, the 6th of October 2015, we set up a styled shoot in Spain at the Costa Brava. We named the styled shoot “Boho at the Beach”. We really love the bohemian style and we really thought it could be a very nice setting. So, we had to think of something unique. By getting inspiration and being creative, we started to come up with ideas that combine new trends and our own style. The colours we chose for this shoot were mainly stonewashed green and coral combined with soft pink and white.

Colorful Fiesta Wedding

Modern Weddings

Have you ever wanted to throw a big fiesta for your friends and family? Well, that’s exactly what Kyle and Kelsey did. This vibrant wedding with Mexican inspired details is everything you could ask for in a fiesta. Wonderfully captured by Ely Fair Photography and beautifully designed by GATHER Events, no detail was spared. Not to mention these florals by Juniper Designs just scream fiesta. Once you see these photos and read about how it came together from the bride herself, you too could be throwing a fiesta wedding!

colorful fiesta wedding - photo by Ely Fair Photography http://ruffledblog.com/colorful-fiesta-wedding

From the bride, Kelsey: Kyle and I were mainly acquaintances in college. I know we were Facebook friends, but neither one of us can remember how that occurred. After college, Kyle got a Bernese Mountain dog, which I was obsessed with through Facebook pictures. Sometime around then Kyle asked me to go on a dog walking date with my rescue pup. Even though Kyle’s dog was a little crazy on the leash, we’ve been together ever since. Kyle proposed at the Oklahoma City Zoo by the elephant exhibit on a perfect rainy day. The elephants were trumpeting and running around, which I had never seen before and made the day even better!

Kyle and I wanted to have a very intimate ceremony with the people that mean the most to us. We decided to have a 50 person ceremony of our closest family and friends and a big party afterwards with the rests of our friends and family. It was wonderful to be able to look at the people who were at the ceremony and know we had a special relationship with each of them. It was also important to us that everyone have a great time, so we tried to make the day as fun as possible with as many bright colors imaginable. We decided to go with a Fiesta theme to really encourage our guest to have a blast! And honestly… who doesn’t want to have piñatas at their wedding?

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? Your wedding day is really only about two people. Your future spouse and yourself. If what makes you happiest is an elopement or a grand country club wedding, do that! You all are beginning the first day of the rest of your life. Everything that Kyle and I chose to do, we did it with that idea in mind. Sometimes I think couples get caught up in what is expected of them, rather than what would make them the happiest on their wedding day.

From the event designers, GATHER Events: When Kelsey described her wedding day, she wanted it to be festive and colorful, like a Mexican fiesta. We filled the room with gorgeous textured flowers created by Juniper Designs. The arrangements were full of King Protea, ranunculus, garden roses, roses, seeded eucalyptus, spray roses, brunia, and variegated kale. We kept the linens neutral so that we could emphasize the beautiful arrangements. For the head table, we added a vibrant Mexican table runner to add to the fiesta theme. Throughout the venue we were able to add special touches such as mini piñatas and Papel Picado flags made by the talented Lula Flora Designs. Kelsey wanted a colorful backdrop that she could use for her ceremony and then transform to her photo booth backdrop. The cakes by Amy Cakes were stunning! We loved how they were designed to look like a Mexican textile and the sugar skull was so unique. Thanks to The Wavetone’s the guests were able to dance the night away. The wedding turned out to be a perfect fiesta for the bride and groom!

Modern Black and White Wedding with Emerald

Modern Weddings

Any couple who describes their wedding theme as “Kate Spade met The Wicked Witch of the West” has already garnered my attention and adoration, and this wedding did not disappoint. Sarah Libby Photography, Everything Beautiful OKC, and Leigh and Louise Design came together to work on Avery and Michael’s modern wedding with a clean color palette of black, white, gold, and green, with a bit of burgundy in the floral arrangements for good measure.

modern black and white wedding with emerald - photo by Sarah Libby Photography http://ruffledblog.com/modern-black-and-white-wedding-with-emerald

From the bride, Avery: I would describe our wedding style as Kate Spade meets Boho chic. If Kate Spade fell into a forest, that’s the feel we were going for. Somehow our end phrase became Kate Spade met The Wicked Witch of the West.

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? Don’t follow protocol. Just because that’s the way it’s always been done doesn’t mean that’s how it has to be. Make it your own and then own it. Secondly, take a moment to take it all in, it. Thirdly, don’t pay $1,000 for your veil. A full cathedral veil with a blusher cost us $18.00.

From the photographer, Sarah Libby Photography:
Michael and Avery were married this fall with a modern, fresh, and fun vibe. Avery stunned in her long sleeve plunging neck gown by Madison James from Beloved Bridal and Michael could not stop looking at her. Michael surprised her with her grandmother’s ring to wear as her wedding band and the tears flowed. The bridesmaids wore bold emerald Badgley MIschka gowns and the groomsmen wore a classic tux. They were married at sunset overlooking the Oklahoma farmlands. They chose bold tablecloths to fancy up their reception space and chose a non-traditional cake table filled with fancy donuts and cookies. They also had specialty pizza’s prepared for all of their guests from their favorite pizza place. They had a confetti entrance to their reception and partied with family and friends before their sparkler sendoff!

Organic Blush Wedding Inspiration

Wedding Design

Today’s shoot is one of those that just stops us immediately in our tracks. The delicate blush pink and neutral palette paired with the organic floral design and the beautiful images from Tamara Gruner Photography all add up to pure magic that we couldn’t possibly resist! And the bride’s bouquet with a hint of artichoke styled by Bare Root Flora? Utter brilliance.

organic blush wedding inspiration - photo by Tamara Gruner Photography http://ruffledblog.com/organic-blush-wedding-inspiration

From the stylist and florist, Robyn of Bare Root Flora: The inspiration for our shoot was a desire for a sense of feminine romance. We chose a sophisticated, elegant color palette of blushes, greys and golds that married beautifully with the pines and dramatic desert rocks of Castlewood Canyon, where we set our scene. A stormy, grey day was the perfect complement to the look.

We kept the look on our beautiful bride simple and natural, with loose, flowy hair and soft makeup. Her two-piece gown from Emma & Grace was dreamy and romantic while still feeling fresh and contemporary. We wanted the flowers to capture the same romantic, organic feeling. Bare Root Flora paired textural dried artichokes with soft garden roses, chocolate Queen Anne’s lace, sweet astrantia, soft silver tree protea and lush foliage and grasses in a loose and lovely bouquet finished in blush silk ribbons from Silk & Willow.

We wanted the accompanying tablescape to be an extension of this dreamy, romantic aesthetic. The table was set with gorgeous silk runners from Silk & Willow, which echoed the wind and the colors in the canyon. The napkin detail was a particularly lovely focal point for the table, which was set with romantic tableware from Anthropologie. The hand lettered place cards from Miya at Layers of Loveliness were the perfect finishing touch. The finished look was just what we wanted, dreamy and romantic but with an almost effortless sense of sophistication.

Cultural Wedding at Korakia Pensione

Romantic Weddings

Photos by:

Erin J Saldana

Today’s couple knew there would be no better excuse to head back to their native California than their wedding day, so they packed their bags and celebrated with friends and family at the jaw-dropping venue Korakia Pensione Palm Springs. With Erin J Saldana capturing images, First Pick Planning in control of planning, and the bride’s sister Candice Benjamin taking on the floral design, it’s little wonder this day turned out as beautifully as it did!

cultural wedding at Korakia Pensione - photo by Erin J Saldana http://ruffledblog.com/cultural-wedding-at-korakia-pensione

From the bride, Ashley: We have been living in Louisiana for 2 years because my husband is in the Army, so we were definitely missing our native California. I knew Palm Springs would be the perfect location for a desert oasis themed wedding. We wanted it to be quirky, laid back, and fun with just a touch of luxury. When I saw Korakia Pensione I knew it would be perfect, and the general manager was so helpful and accommodating I was blown away. Our theme was desert oasis fiesta. I wanted to main colors to be coral and mint with metallic details to pop against that desert background, while also incorporating my husband’s Mexican heritage with the dancers, pinata, and dulces. That mix mash of cultures is what southern California is all about. I knew I wanted to go with a coral for my dress because the color was just amazing, and it felt good to be different. The day was about us celebrating our love with our friends and family, we didn’t want to worry about what was traditional or expected.

My friends and family came together to help us keep our budget low while still having a gorgeous wedding. My sister in law made the aguas frescas and bought the materials to make little signs. All of the centerpieces and bouquets were arranged and designed by my fabulous sister Candice Benjamin with help from my wedding coordinator Jen Bergmark. We went the morning before to the flower district in LA and they just let me go crazy picking out flowers that fit our theme and made my heart flutter. They spent all night piecing together these amazingly unique arrangements. Even the dancers were a high school group that my sister in law belonged to. They were amazing and completely affordable.

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? Remember when you’re planning that this day is about what the two of you want. Pick three adjectives that the two of you agree on, and when you’re making your decisions make sure that it applies to all three of those things. And don’t think that because you have a low budget that you have to go to a craft store and raid the cheesy wedding aisle. Get creative. If you’re not creative comb through your friends and family and see if anyone is willing to help out. It will make your wedding that much more meaningful.

Industrial Wedding at a Metalworking Studio

Modern Weddings

We love that today’s couple knew their venue, Gutierrez Studios, would be the perfect fit for their wedding day because it captured both of their spirits individually — analytic industrialism for the groom, and a blank creative canvas for the bride. Lindsay Hite of READYLUCK and The Vanlandingham Design Studio were the chosen pros to be by their side for the big day, making their vision come to reality with startling clarity and a clear focus on modern design in an industrial setting.

From the bride, Brittany: Greg and I have known each other since elementary school and are living proof that opposites attract. We really wanted a day that would celebrate how much we love one another and how fortunate we are to have so many amazing family and friends. It is so rare and special to have all of the people you love together in one place at the same time. We instantly fell in love with Gutierrez Studios, a working metal studio in Baltimore’s Clipper Mill. The amazing artistry and historic industrial setting seemed like the perfect allegory for Greg’s analytical personality and my creative spirit. The studio is not a traditional event space and we were so thankful to work with Drew at The Vanlandingham Design Studio. He came highly recommended and was without a doubt crucial to making our wedding dream a reality. He really got to know us and translated our personalities along with our rustic and industrial vision into the most meaningful and magical day we could dream of. We worked with fantastic professionals throughout the entire process and with Drew by our side, we didn’t have to worry about a single thing.

Greg gave me a beautiful bracelet along with sweet and silly card. When I opened the card there was also a photo of us taken at our senior prom. The edges were tattered and the photo image was almost peeling away from the plastic backing. I instantly recognized the image and soon realized that he had been carrying this photo in his wallet every day for the past 11 years. Thinking about all of the amazing moments we had shared and all of the memories we still have to make together was definitely one of the most memorable parts of the day.

ceremony kiss - photo by Readyluck Studios http://ruffledblog.com/industrial-wedding-at-a-metalworking-studio

My dress included a patch sewn into the lining that was made from pieces of family members clothing including my mother’s wedding dress, Greg’s aunt, grandmother, and mother’s wedding dresses, my grandmother’s painting smock, and my grandfather’s apron. It was a special way to feel connected to all of our loved ones. We were very excited to give Daruma Dolls as favors to all of our guests. A daruma doll is a traditional Japanese doll seen as a symbol of perseverance and good luck. When someone receives a daruma doll it has two blank eyes. The recipient fills in one eye upon setting a goal or making a wish, then the other eye once it is fulfilled. Greg’s Bachan, Japanese grandmother, passed down the tradition to her family and we wanted to share it with all of our guests as a special token of thanks and good fortune. We hope all of their wishes come true!

Colorful Boho Wedding at Historic Cedarwood

Whimsical Weddings

Photos by:

Teale Photography

Oodles of gorgeous pinks, tons of lush greenery, an inspiring bohemian ceremony backdrop, and beautiful flowers everywhere you look make this wedding from Teale Photography and Cedarwood Weddings one for the books. If anything, this wedding proves that fuchsia is nothing less than a color for all seasons!

colorful boho wedding at Historic Cedarwood - photo by Teale Photography http://ruffledblog.com/colorful-boho-wedding-at-historic-cedarwood

From the bride, Larin: We wanted to create an environment that blended rustic elegance with the organic warmth of a backyard bash. Capitalizing on the raw beauty of Cedarwood Weddings, our styling was romantic, playful, and totally us! I wanted our personal style to shine through in the details – and our guests definitely noticed! The color scheme, inspired by my bedroom pillows actually, was intended to complement the natural setting – blush to vibrant pinks, lush greenery, and mixed metals.

Bouquet recipe: My bouquet was a textural masterpiece of king protea, peonies, ranunculus, roselily, varied roses, hydrangea, wax flower, seeded eucalyptus, and cascading jasmine vine. It was so heavy, but I didn’t want to put it down all night!

From the very beginning, I knew I wanted our altar to be a lasting artifact we could display in our home. I created this free-flowing installation to give the already beautiful backdrop a layer of depth and whimsy. The pinks and florals were perfectly juxtaposed with more masculine accents – woods, skulls, antlers, and other raw materials to create an earthy vibe. And if my husband loves anything more than me, it’s his country – insert American flag everywhere.

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? Be you and have fun with it! Enjoy making each little decision – just try to make them only once! If you’re into DIY and questioning what to take-on yourself – I urge you to commit to at least one project! Just be sure to give yourself plenty of time, and you’ll be happy you did. Give your bridesmaids the opportunity to shine! I’m so thrilled each of the girls’ dresses wove their personalities into our day. Pick a venue that you find aesthetically special, even in it barest form, to be your canvas. Cedarwood Weddings offers guests a variety of settings on one property and the effortless flow from one to the next kept guests on their toes! Offer out-of-town guests a taste of your hometown, even if it is adopted. For us that meant a historic property exuding Southern charm, a bluegrass duo in the barn cocktail hour, and late-night hot chicken bites! And, let’s not underestimate the power of Southern folklore – our buried bottle of bourbon diverted a storm! Choose an experienced team and you’ll sleep better. Entrusting my vision to one holistic team made planning a (really fun) breeze – thank you for bringing our vision to life!

Handcrafted Bohemian Bridal Shoot

Wedding Design

Calling all bohemian brides, this one’s for you! This shoot from Canadian wedding vendors Sharon Litchfield Photography, Cocktails and Details, and Tickled Floral explores the boho side of wedding fashion, coupling it with incredible event styling and design and cheerful pink, purple, and yellow. Those coral charm peonies in the bouquet are especially calling my name!

handcrafted bohemian bridal shoot - photo by Sharon Litchfield Photography http://ruffledblog.com/handcrafted-bohemian-bridal-shoot

From the photographer, Sharon Litchfield Photography: This shoot started as a project to tap into a part of my personality that I don’t get to explore often. To go outside my aesthetic and trying new angles, and exploring a new side of my photography. This shoot is bohemian inspired – the embroidered tent, hand picked style bouquet, macrame plant hangers, and dream catchers all played a part of making the shoot feel organic, whimsy, and gypsy like. We especially love the rug we dug out from the wedding planner’s garage to put under the wooden table. It adds to the eclectic vibe we were going for. For the bridal styling, we opt for minimal makeup and soft wavy hair for the natural look. We played with different hair pieces (using a veil as a bridal cap, a head chain, and then a floral crown) to create different looks.

Modern Romantic Wedding Ideas with Marsala

Wedding Design

Marsala is a color that continues to inspire, and we’ve never seen it look so good as it does paired with copper in today’s styled shoot. Kai Heeringa Photography, Ideal Events & Design, and Damsel Floral Co. created a styled wedding that brings together both traditional romance and also modern design ideas for a look that’s truly captivating.

modern romantic wedding ideas with marsala - photo by Kai Heeringa Photography http://ruffledblog.com/modern-romantic-wedding-ideas-with-marsala

From the event designer, Rebecca of Ideal Events & Design: Inspiration for this shoot came initially from the Pantone Color of the Year, marsala. This color choice has been the subject of many heated blog posts and designer discussions! When I first heard the color choice, I was taken aback, feeling like many that it seemed dated. However, whenever a color of the year is announced, we always see it used as varied shades through the design world and no one can argue that shades of maroon, burgundy, and fig have been used more often lately. So I chose to use a variation of marsala as an accent in a wedding designed to take place between the transitioning of seasons from winter to spring. Icy gray linens with lots of candlelight, thick oriental rugs, and a cocktail station are a nod to warm winter nights by the fire, while blush pinks, lots of greenery, and tulips hint of the spring to come.

Bouquet recipe: Kaci of Damsel Floral put together the loveliest floral arrangements, starting with an amazing bridal bouquet of ranunculus, veronica, tulips, roses, protea, and campsis. The trailing ribbons were the final touch that made me fall head over heels for the bouquet.

The icy gray linens from Special Occasions West set off the perfect amount of shimmer and the fig napkins matched the place card envelopes perfectly. These envelopes, beautifully calligraphed by Emilie of Lief Design, contained the evening’s menu card. A simple but dramatic touch to add on each place setting. The table runner of eucalyptus smelled amazing and only needed a collection of candlesticks from Events by I.Candy to be completed.

Our bride and groom, both ballet dancers, were a stunning couple. The bride was dressed in a lace Rosa Clara gown from Renee Austin Wedding. This classically beautiful dress needed no other adornment, especially with the romantic hairstyle and gorgeous makeup from Whitney and Sarah at Brindle & Blonde. And yes, that is all the model’s real hair! The groom was outfitted in a classic suit from AK Rikk’s. My favorite detail of his outfit was the small blue pin on his lapel. The Studio at AK Rikk’s is an amazing space – with both modern and classic elements, so many weddings and events would work perfectly here. The moulding makes the walls anything but basic and natural light streams in through a wall of windows. Every detail was captured beautifully by Kai Heeringa Photography. The invitation suite, with shades of blush pink and fig, was designed by Ideal Events & Design and addressed in the most gorgeous calligraphy from Lief Design.

Eclectic and Fun Wedding at Fernbank Farm

Whimsical Weddings

Lara Hotz

Any day we’ve got a wedding from Lara Hotz and The Yaya Collective to share, we know it’s going to be a good one. Yael and Ariell’s wedding was chock full of garden goodness, with just the right amount of eclecticism all put together by the helping hands of family and friends. This is a good one, guys.

eclectic and fun wedding at Fernbank Farm - photo by Lara Hotz http://ruffledblog.com/eclectic-and-fun-wedding-at-fernbank-farm

From the bride, Yael: We wanted to create a warm and inviting atmosphere, with an eclectic and personal feel, and most of all, we wanted it to be fun for everyone involved. We always try to be resourceful and work with what we create, collect and/or have readily available to us. So this meant a family DIY wedding and that’s the vibe we were going for. We sourced trailer-loads of decor and furniture and managed to get hold of some old hardwood fence palings that we restored and used to construct much of the decor used at our wedding.

Flower recipe: Dahlias, peonies, gerberas, willows, proteas, pincushion proteas and whatever green foliage we could get our hands on.

We loved the intimacy of long banquet-style shared tables with an abundance of food and drink. As we only had narrow standard size trestle tables available to us we had to improvise and make a plan to create this feel. We restored some of the hardwood palings and collected green bottles to construct functional centrepieces that doubled up as food stands and decorative flower vases. We had a traditional Jewish ceremony, but we wanted a whimsical and relaxed feel. We constructed a freestanding chuppah out of more of the restored recycled wooden palings with white fabric drapes, and a vintage Persian rug. We wanted to incorporate things we liked into our wedding. We love succulents. We grabbed as many jars as we could get our hands on and created terrariums which we hung and scattered all over. We also love bougainvillea. We sprinkled the fuchsia pink petals down the aisle for a splash of colour. And we liked the idea of our guests being engaged in the ceremony and event. We created “wedding wands”, and made a bunch of signs that we scattered about the venue so there was a touch of “us” everywhere our guests went.

When we first found the venue we fell in love with it. It provided a lush green background with plenty of foliage and a white Indian-style marquee. But we felt we needed to add a splash of colour and excitement to it all. We went for summer corals, peach, pinks, and reds and brought some green foliage and recycled green flower-filled bottles. We also used natural, recycled wooden materials and light coffee stained tablecloths to tie it all together. The entire wedding was a big DIY Family project. We handmade our wedding signs, wedding wands, food-flower table boards, succulent terrariums, chuppah (arch from our ceremony), tablecloths, hand painted wine glasses with guest names, hanging flower halos, hanging porcelain charms, Yael’s bouquet, Yael’s engagement ring, table & wall floral arrangements, ribbon arches, and even Yael’s wedding dress.

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? First and foremost, try to get your friends and family involved – the more people have invested in it, the more they tend to enjoy the day. Find inspiration from anything and everything and work with what you have. Leave enough time to experiment and create your own decor and don’t be afraid to add a personal touch. On the big day, you just have to go with the flow and be ready to adapt and adjust. No matter how much planning you do, the chances of everything going exactly to plan are slim to none, so it is really important to find someone who you trust with your vision to take charge on the day, and then you just go with it.

San Luis Obispo Eclectic DIY Wedding

DIY Weddings

Alexandra Wallace

There’s something about using cobalt blue in wedding decor that makes us unbelievably cheery — it’s a bold choice that always seems to come across beautifully in images. Alexandra Wallace photographed the wedding of Rachel and Zach, a couple who wanted their day to be “artsy and a wee bit nerdy.” The two even did a choreographed dance at the end of the reception!

From the bride, Rachel: From the very beginning I knew I wanted vintage, artsy, and a wee bit nerdy. My husband happily agreed. I think our photographer Alexandra Wallace described it best with eclectic — I’d also use colorful, bright, and unique.

My dress was designed by me, inspired by a designer dress I saw on Pinterest. It was constructed by a family friend, Ruth Franklin, myself, and my mom, Victoria Humbles. My garters were made by my friend and bridesmaid, Bridget Huffer. My bridesmaids’ hairpieces were made by me, as were the groomsmen’s boutonnieres; table numbers were constructed by me, and my husband Zach came up with the phrases based on our relationship corresponding with each number. We both spray-painted little dinosaur figures silver. These sat upon vintage books that were all from my personal collection. I also hand-wrote and painted place cards for every guest. Zach and I painted and constructed the octahedron strands that hung from the gazebo. Zach constructed the giant paper flowers. I painted a “me and you” sign that was at the guest book table, the guest book being a print found on Etsy, adhered to a wooden frame, found at Michael’s Craft Store. There were also little chalkboards that I hand-wrote notes on to correspond with the types of beer we served, among others.

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? Enjoy EVERY minute. Make it fun, make it about YOU TWO! I read about a wedding where the bride said, don’t worry if something isn’t exactly right. That was huge for me! We did so much ourselves I wanted everything to be spit spot, but it wasn’t perfect. And honestly I think it turned out even better. Also, elope. ;)

Everything was played at the reception, from Flogging Molly to Frank Sinatra, from Freddie King to the Rolling Stones, not to mention Chuck Berry, James Brown, and The Gap Band.

From the photographer, Alexandra Wallace: Rachel and Zach are no cookie-cutter couple, and their wedding was no Pinterest copy-and-paste affair! The day started with Rachel putting on her completely custom-made dress; a project taken on by a family friend, her mother, and herself. As the final touches approached, Rachel’s mother presented her with a locket – inside, a note, and a piece of her own wedding dress from over thirty years ago. The wedding celebration took place at the historic Jack House in downtown San Luis Obispo. Rachel donned a flower crown hand-crafted by her cousin, and guests were led to the gazebo to watch Rachel and Zach exchange vows [in front of a custom hanging backdrop!], and then walk down the aisle as husband and wife to the end title theme from Star Wars. Reception decor was in grey, cobalt blue, with hints of mustard yellow. Decorations were a mix of vintage, geometric shapes, and a bit of woodland inspiration. As Rachel said, “The fact that we don’t have one theme per se is very much us. There’s a bit of classic charm and a bit of geek chic – I must admit Doctor Who was an inspiration for the colors!” Dinner was cooked by family, and the evening was spent with dancing – including a wonderfully non-traditional, choreographed first dance by the newlyweds! [Did I mention Rachel works in theater??] As a parting gift, guests were each given a small succulent plant, representing life and longevity in harsh conditions.

High School Sweetheart Summer Wedding

Romantic Weddings

Photos by:

Katherine O'Brien

Christine and Zuy met in high school and dated for 8 years before Zuy proposed on the beaches of Mexico during a getaway trip (hello, dreamy proposal!). These high school sweethearts kept the romance going with a sweet and earthy wedding in Austin, Texas, captured by Katherine O’Brien Photography with amazing flowers put together by Whim Florals. This one’s a winner for sure!

From the bride, Christine: I had a vision the entire time I was planning my wedding, and our venue’s location helped me execute that perfectly. I have always loved vintage styled weddings, but I wanted to take it to the next step and make it more earthy and natural. I wanted our guests to feel warm and welcome once they stepped onto the property. My favorite part of the entire day was the ceremony; the setup was exactly what I imagined. From our pastor to the florist, they all understood every aspect of my vision. I couldn’t have seen it any other way; I guess you could say it was “Pinterest” perfect.

Zuy and I met in the hallways of our high school in 2005, it was the year that changed our lives forever. We went through a few important phases in life, high school, college, and soon to come, marriage. As if life couldn’t get much better, eight years later Zuy surprised me with a trip to Mexico where he quickly proposed on the beach at a wonderful dinner setting. The next day sitting on the beach I started doing what I do best — PLAN! I loved the planning process of the wedding, besides the few hurdles we surpassed I enjoyed every minute of it. It was almost like I didn’t want the day to come so soon, I just wanted to keep planning!

If I could, I would go on and on about every vendor of our wedding. Every single one of them was beyond friendly and helpful. I am very detail-oriented and I was able to accomplish this with the help of them and my family. I with the help of my mom, bridesmaid’s and wedding coordinator put all the décor from the candles, the props, to the signage together. It was all stuff I had either collected from vintage shops, my own apartment décor, or borrowed from the venue. This was my favorite part about the cocktail hour and reception, besides the food. (Guests are still talking about those mashed potatoes we had.) The cocktail hour was so fun to plan, two words — comfort and refreshing. I wanted it to feel casual with an elegant twist. We served Mac-n-cheese bites and sorbet, both comforting and refreshing! Our caterer was fantastic; I told them I wanted our dogs to be there, they are such an important part of our lives. So there was no better way than to name our specialty drinks after them! “The Marley” (masculine and bold) and “The Mia” (refreshing and feminine). I told myself I was going to take a step back and enjoy all the hard work and planning we had done. I wanted to actually get to see my wedding in “action” as most brides don’t get to do.

Palm Springs Wedding for a Creative Bride and Groom

Whimsical Weddings

Photos by:

Laura Goldenberger

Laycee and Jon’s wedding is so chock full of great design it’ll make your head spin. The creative couple (the bride is a designer while the groom is a cinematographer) had their hands all over the day, right down to the creative Save-the-Date video you’ll see at the very end. Laura Goldenberger and next saturday affairs did remarkable work on this one, as always!

From the bride, Laycee: We love the mid Century modern style of our venue Frederick Loewe Estate. The architecture has clean lines, geometric sculptures, design books with large Swiss typography, etc, which is all a cohesive design language used throughout our wedding. The surroundings of the venue is an expansive and beautiful desert-chic landscape. We used this contrast between geometry and organic shapes on everything from our invitation, place cards to welcome signs. We thought that this contrast creates more energy and interest rather than the hand-written, DIY look a lot of other weddings have.

All the napkins and table runners were hand-made from a few different geometric patterned fabric we chose. All the table numbers were house numbers from home depot, spray painted gold. The little geometric shapes holding up the name cards were made from clay, cut into unique shapes and baked in the oven to harden. Quite a few of the geometric shaped terrariums were made from 90s lamps, with the light bulbs and cords removed. The 2 white columns with the clear casing on top at our altar were also custom made. I designed our own letterpress wedding invitation, all the place cards, name cards, welcome signs and all other collaterals. The wedding favors were designed by me as well: a pair of letter press coasters in black and white, with gold patterns. Our Save the Date was a collaboration between Jon and I. I design for a living and he produces video for a living. This piece is a perfect example of the magic we create together, and a “making of” teaser of the real wedding invitation.

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? I think the trick to planning a great wedding is to have a clear vision of your design aesthetic or theme from the get-go and stick with it throughout. Not to say everything needs to look the same, but if there’s a central theme threading everything together, the entire look will be cohesive. Changing minds about the look will often create disjointed experiences and confuse yourself as well. Also, do as much as you can but not over commit. Spend your money on the most important things like the venue and catering. It’s totally okay to let some of the smaller things go. They won’t have as big of an impact to your wedding as the venue and catering will.

Gold and Pink Vineyard Wedding

Romantic Weddings

Traci and Jerome both come from large families, so it doesn’t come as much of a shock that their wedding would be fairly sizable and quite the celebration. Of course, having Catie Coyle Photography and Karen Silva Designs by their side didn’t hurt in making all the magic happen! One of the stars of this wedding is the abundance of proteas, just one of our all-time favorite flowers.

From the bride, Traci: We both come from large, closely-knit families, so we envisioned our wedding to be like a holiday gathering with family and our closest friends – all 200 of us, together in one place for the biggest and best party of our lives. We made sure that every aspect of our wedding was a true reflection of us. Everything from the vineyard venue to the flowers to the song selections to the party favors to the photo booth to the desserts. We had a hand in everything!

Flower recipe: I wanted to have three King Proteas for my bouquet, a single King Protea for all of my bridesmaids, and the floral arrangements were made up of King Proteas, cream and blush roses, and baby’s breath.

For DIY projects, my dad and I made all the signage; Jerome (my husband) and I painted and put together the marquee letters at our head table; my sister, dad, and I assembled the Freixenet mini bottles that doubled as our escort cards/favors.

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? Have fun, get creative, be resourceful, and HIRE A FLORIST! When we first started wedding planning, I thought it’d be a piece of cake to delegate some of my creative and crafty friends (who aren’t professional florists) to head my wedding flower department. After all, I only wanted three types of flowers. That ended up being the BIGGEST stresser in the whole process. Luckily, a relative put me in touch with our florist four months before our wedding, and she was a godsend! Also, it is so cliche, but I would say don’t sweat the small stuff. Things will happen on your wedding day (or the days leading up to, and even after your wedding) that are out of your control and will cause you to roll your eyes. For instance, our wedding day was the one day of the month where I swear there were gale force winds at our venue. The wind turned my cathedral length veil into a sail and practically blew my head off. I finally paused our ceremony for a few minutes to take it off. That said, just stay in the moment and none of that will matter to you. Try to take in and enjoy every minute, because it truly is the best day of your life. Jerome and I keep wanting to rewind and re-live it all over again… veil sail and all!

Wedding Music:
Our relationship revolves heavily around music – Jerome collects records and DJs here in San Francisco; my dad has played in a band since he was 14 and currently plays in a Hawaiian band here in the Bay Area. We enjoy all types of music, but I love island music, and Jerome is passionate about hip-hop, funk, soul, and R&B.

Countryside Wedding with Cobalt Blue and Crimson

Wedding Design

Photos by:

Sposto Photography

There’s no reason to shy away from bold colors on your wedding day, and this styled shoot from Sposto Photography, Little Hill Floral Designs, and Touched by Time Vintage Rentals shows us exactly why. Cobalt blue and deep crimson are the stars here, with the bride wearing a traditional white gown followed by a gem-toned blue dress (perfect for the reception, we say). Let’s jump in!

countryside wedding with cobalt blue and crimson - photo by Sposto Photography http://ruffledblog.com/countryside-wedding-with-cobalt-blue-and-crimson

From the photographer, Shauntelle of Sposto Photography: Cobalt blue and crimson red are at the heart of this countryside chic wedding inspiration photo shoot. The nostalgia of summer nights gone by is invoked with old-time movie theatre seating amidst the golden fields of this Temecula pomegranate farm. At the same time, there’s a delicate yet elegant balance between the lush colors of the hydrangeas, unripened black berries, star-of-bethlehem, and protea and the timeless beauty of the white and gold tablescape lined with white tapered candles, brass goblets and pepper tree garland. And all these, beneath a crystal chandelier.

The bridesmaids wore corsages instead of holding the more traditional bouquet, and held triangles attached to cobalt ribbons for the ceremony. Meanwhile, the guests had mini tambourines to jingle after the couple’s ceremony kiss!

Bright Purple and Pink Wedding in New Jersey

Blue Label, Elegant Weddings

Purple and pink make for some seriously eye-catching wedding design, and when you add in a bit of gold? Talk about fairytale perfection. Off BEET Productions and MDS Floral Design helped bring everything together for this New Jersey wedding with some of the most stunning floral arrangements we’ve seen in ages!

From the bride, Kelly: Although we had a large guest list (210 confirmed guests) we still wanted the wedding to feel very intimate and personal. We wanted people to feel that every single detail had a personal touch. The guest comments about decor/over feeling was that it ‘was so you (two)!’ The wedding very much reflected our personal aesthetic and personalities. We wanted the style of our wedding to feel whimsical with a romantic/rich color scheme

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? Don’t be afraid to blaze your own trail or break tradition. Doing what you both love and what makes you happy will make your wedding feel unique and you! This will make your wedding memorable for your guests as well. When deciding who would officiate our wedding, we really struggled. Do we get married by our family priest as all of our previous family members had? Do we have a professional officiant? The it became glaringly clear; we wanted the brides Aunt Margy to marry us. This Aunt has a very special relationship with the couple both individually and as a couple. Although this decision was not what was expected, it was the thing that made our wedding so ‘us’ and extremely personal.

Graceful Desert Wedding at Enchanted Rock

Wedding Design

It used to be that “desert” and “romantic” were two words never to be found in the same sentence, but that time is long gone — just take this styled shoot from Bella Reese Photography, Vivid Events, and Sweetwater Stems as proof. Blush pink protea and centerpieces with eucalyptus make us dream of sunny desertscapes, complete with a beautiful bride in a stunning Enzoani wedding gown.

graceful desert wedding at Enchanted Rock - photo by Bella Reese Photography http://ruffledblog.com/graceful-desert-wedding-at-enchanted-rock

From the photographer, Bella Reese Photography: Most of my childhood I woke up in the southwest — desert was all I knew. Having always had the mountains in my horizon, with beautiful cactus and just plain desert is home to me. There has always been something so comforting about it. So this vision I’ve had for so long came naturally. I wanted something that came from my heart and meant something so deeply. Enchanted Rock seemed fitting with its gorgeous landscaping and perfect location. It was exactly what was needed to provide my “desert.”

Going into it I knew that succulents and proteas had to play a big part and Sweetwater Stems more than delivered! The gorgeous Enzoani gown immediately stood out in Blush Bridal Lounge, it is so elegant and relaxed, exactly what we needed! Giselle with Vivid Events helped pull this all together and she knew exactly how to make my vision come alive.

My amazing husband knew exactly how important this shoot was to me and also knew my vision for the table. It had to be JUST right. So as great as he is, he built us the table. It’s perfect! It allowed the personal touch I really wanted because this is so near and dear to my heart. The table setup really allows for such an intimate gathering, all of us girls wanted to sit down and have a glass of wine! It was so inviting! I couldn’t have asked for a better group of people to help pull this together. This was the desert elegance we all wanted!

Colorful Modern Wedding at The Plant at Kyle

Modern Weddings

Of all the different love stories out there, it’s the ones that begin with chance meetings that warm my heart the most. Leah and Mark just happened to meet on a safari in South Africa’s Kreuger National Safari Park, so it seemed only natural their wedding day would be filled with nods to travel and, of course, the safari. Sarah Goss Photography, Loxodonta Events, and Pollen Floral Art was the dream team for this fun wedding!

From the bride, Leah: Mark and I both love a good adventure. So naturally, an adventure is what brought us together. We met, by chance, on a safari in Africa in early 2012. I was living in Cape Town, South Africa and he in the middle-of-nowhere, Angola. I was on a safari holiday with my family, and a mistaken reservation landed Mark at the same lodge as us – for just a day. Although my parents immediately befriended the nice young man traveling alone, I didn’t think much of him at the time. Just 24 hours after meeting, we parted ways, exchanging only emails… almost as an after thought.

A few weeks later, he reached out and we began chatting nonstop by email and text message. We decided we’d like to meet again, this time on a remote island off the coast of Kenya. After a magical weekend together, we knew this was it. Defying Africa’s slow internet, regular power outages, and rural work assignments, we spent the next 2 years living and working on separate continents (me: Africa, him: Australia), but meeting in faraway places all around the world and growing our relationship. Mark proposed just after we moved to Texas in mid-2014 to finally be together, and we quickly decided we’d like to host an intimate, colorful, and loving wedding in the beautiful Hill Country outside of Austin. We wanted our small wedding to reflect our deep happiness and adventurous love story, and to be a vibrant celebration of our dearest friends and family.

We got creative and used pieces of our love story throughout our wedding: safari blankets to keep our loved ones warm during the outdoor ceremony; each dining table was a country we’d visited, with our actual visa entry stamps displayed; a box full of postcards we’d mailed back and forth during our time apart; South Africa’s national protea flowers in my bouquet; small safari animals as place names… We had brilliant fun incorporating all these creative personal touches in to our amazing day. Mark and I wrote our own vows with the help of our incredible officiant, and the promises we made to each other that day to nurture, deepen, trust, listen, support, encourage, dream and explore were born out of how we grew together despite the physical distance between us. Our wedding was more magical than we ever dreamed possible. We both cried many happy tears, felt like we were floating all day and still can’t stop smiling knowing the rest of our lives will be an adventure… Together!

From the photographer, Sarah of Sarah Goss Photography:
When you pull up to the venue, you already know this wedding was meant to be an adventure. Tucked far away in the Hill Country, Leah and Mark found the perfect place to say I do. A new industrially inspired BnB, it served as the perfect location for an outdoor ceremony and a open air reception. Leah and Mark’s love story is one for the books. Chance brought these two together in Kreuger National Safari Park in South Africa. Only someone like Mark would Safari alone and Leah (well, Leah’s parents) adopted him one night over dinner and the rest was history.

The outdoor ceremony took place beneath a large Live Oak with elegant and colorful strips of ribbon and fabric hanging between the trunks. Beautiful wooden chairs sat side by side waiting for guests from around the world to occupy them. The back row of guest chairs were decorated with the same beautiful ribbons. When the breeze blew, the ribbons floated on the air. Guests signed postcards for the bride and groom as they arrived and found their dinner seats on a vintage map. The welcome table was decorated with whimsical travel details and hints of African Safari. Cozy blankets and fun safari themed tissues were available for the guests as they made their way to their seats. The ceremony was filled with emotion as guests from near and far joined in to help the couple begin their marriage. After the I Do’s, guests mingled together while delicious appetizers and drinks were passed around by Royal Fig Catering. The guests began making their way to the reception which was beautifully arranged, featuring Leah’s details and fabulous styling by Loxodonta Event Coordination. Each table was named after a country that the couple had visited together. On the back of each table name, the visas and tickets that the couple had while there. Wild blooms were the center of the tablescapes. Whimsical little gold animal figurines served as the name holders on the table. At each place setting, A menu along with a personal note written by the bride herself awaited each guest. Paper lanterns hung from the ceiling and Candles, votives, and patio lights provided a romantic and inviting ambiance. A live band, the Royal Dukes, serenaded guests through the ceremony, dinner and had everyone dancing into the night. Their family style dinner was provided by Royal Fig. Guests pass the meals amongst each other and enjoyed their time together. Desert was in the form of sweet cupcakes and cake pops. The meal and the decor truly reflected the couples style completely. Laid back, easy going and fun!

Untraditional Wedding at Brooklyn Winery

Romantic Weddings

Has there ever been a wedding at Brooklyn Winery that didn’t take our breath away? My guess is no, and Courtney and Quinn’s beautiful day is yet another shining example of what gorgeous events can take place there. Photo Philosophies captured the wedding and its untraditional style (right down to the pink wedding dress) that’s just as stunning as it is off-the-beaten-path.

From the photographer, Jacquie of Photo Philosophies:
Courtney & Quinn came to me wanting something non traditional; Courtney had already picked out her ruffled pink dress with dark toned nail colors and Quinn’s cool chilled out style was a perfect match to Courtney. While mixing some of these off the beaten path elements, Courtney also wanted elegant, “rustic chic,” opting for Brooklyn Winery as their venue with super personal DIY touches.

Las Vegas Wedding with Bohemian Details

Bohemian Weddings

Photos by:

Gaby J Photography

Today’s bride was going after a laid-back bohemian look, and to say she nailed it is a complete understatement. The day was filled with amazing floral details by Bud & Vine, captured by Gaby J Photography, and it’s the perfect encapsulation of a minimalistic natural wedding that’s low on stress but high on the pretty.

From the bride, Morgan: We went with a modern, natural look… minimal, indie-ish, boho. Our colors were mostly jewel-tones. We DIYed candles for our wedding favors! And our backdrop, my husband built out of old pallets, as well as our cake stand. Our wedding stood out from the crowd because of our location — though we were in Vegas, it just didn’t feel like you were in the middle of a big city.

We used a lot of different greens for our table runners and arches, like ferns and different types of eucalyptus. For my bouquet, my focal point was a protea, the rest was dahlias, eucalyptus, and some other random things. My bridesmaids had the same bouquets minus the protea. My flower crown was eucalyptus and peonies. My favorite memory was our first look, it was very calming for me, and if we hadn’t done that, I think I would have lost it at the “altar.” Also, I loved our photobooth, so fun.

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? Hmm, some advice, use all the help you can get! If you have the money, please do find an amazing photographer, it is worth it!! Every penny! Gaby, I can’t say enough good things about her. Also make sure to have a great support group, aka bridesmaids; they are what keeps you glued together through all the emotions.
