You’ll Fall For This Romantic Estate Wedding

Romantic Weddings

Gold and blue are a match made in heaven, and this wedding from Emily Wren Photography is here to prove it. As every wedding should be, their day was full of sweet personal details and cute nods to the couple’s love for each other, including the groom’s gift of red Converse sneakers to the bride. The always-on-point Love n’ Fresh Flowers delivered the floral arrangements full of vibrant texture.

Folksy Boho Wedding Inspiration

Wedding Design

Suspended dip-dyed tea bags, personalized marshmallows, and mismatched dining chairs from Forget-me-not Vintage Rentals were just a few of our favorite touches from today’s styled shoot. Patchwork Planning and Monzie’s Floral made sure that comfort was never compromised as they jazzed up this rustic campfire space with charming place settings, warmly-hued blankets and thoughtfully placed antlers. Another feature we can’t get over is the bride’s lace enhanced two-piece gown. Flawless. Let’s dive right in to these spectacular images from Emcee Studio Photographie, shall we?

Old City Philadelphia Wedding

Romantic Weddings

When you have a couple as fun as Onna and Chris, you know you’re in for a good time. Their day was nothing short of entertaining. From the top notch eatables to the lively reception bands (that’s right, there were TWO!) to the wedding parade that quite literally swept the streets, we know everyone had a great time. This sweet couple’s love for one another is evident from the start, and we’re so glad they personalized every bit of their celebration. Some of our favorite details include the flower-garnished fans that were swapped for bridesmaid bouquets and the wedding cake sporting soft watercolor brushstrokes. The ever-so-flawless Emily Wren Photography captured every second, so read on for the inside scoop!

High School Sweetheart Greenhouse Wedding

Garden Weddings

Madeline and Dan may have married during the summer, but that didn’t stop the couple from adding nods to Madeline’s all-time favorite holiday, Christmas, into their wedding decor. If anything, this proves there’s no reason not to make your wedding day as personal as possible to best reflect your own style! Becka Pillmore Photography photographed the high school sweetheart couple as they exchanged vows at the ever-stunning Fairmount Park Horticulture Center, which was styled to perfection with Uncommon Events — who also tackled all the floral design. A garden wedding with boho touches, hints of Christmas, all in a greenhouse setting? We’re sold.

High School Sweetheart Greenhouse Wedding - http://ruffledblog.com/high-school-sweetheart-greenhouse-wedding

From the bride, Madeline: My love for Christmas is borderline obsessive. Over the past 10 years Daniel and I have created Christmas traditions that we take part in annually. One of those traditions is shopping in Philadelphia and getting dinner at one of our favorite restaurants Twenty Manning Grill. On our walk back to our car we walked through Rittenhouse to look at the lights and it was there that he asked me to marry him. On the year anniversary of our engagement, we went back to that very spot and got our engagement photos taken under the lights. The wedding planning process was eventful to say the least. It was a team effort and everyone involved played a critical role in making the day special. Uncommon Events also played a huge role in bringing my ideas to life. Their support throughout the entire process was essential (Melissa and Jess!).

Lush Green Wedding With a Boho Twist

Bohemian Weddings

Sometimes you and your wedding venue are a match made in heaven, and that’s exactly how it was for Leanne and Nick at The John James Audubon Center. With no shortage of beautiful grounds to utilize, the couple was able to make their wedding day an event that was truly their own, bringing along the fabulous Emily Wren Photography and Belovely (talk about a winning duo!). Though the color palette consisted of greens and white, Leanne couldn’t resist a pop of fuchsia in her flower crown — which was just the perfect touch.

Lush Green Wedding With a Boho Twist - http://ruffledblog.com/lush-green-wedding-with-a-boho-twist

From the bride, Leanne: We wanted a curated elegant rustic look with outdoor ambiance. We had looked at a few different barn options before we saw The Audubon Center. And with their location (Nick grew up just down the street, only 45 minutes outside of Philly), professionalism of the staff, the illustration history behind the venue (Nick and I both went to the University of the Arts for Illustration), the price, and all of the beautiful locations on the venue i.e.: the apple orchard, the museum, the 1800s barn and the pavilion with its glass doors open to the outside, we knew we had found the right place. Plus we had heard such great things about the caterer Jeffery A. Miller Catering.

Philadelphia Wedding with a Truly Unique Venue

Modern Weddings

Filiz and TJ fell in love with their wedding venue as soon as they stepped foot inside, and we fell in love the moment we saw what they did with the space. Maria Mack Photography photographed the couple all the beautiful decor, which was purposefully kept simple in order to complement the eclecticism of the venue. Of course, this didn’t stop Eventricity from rocking the floral design!

Philadelphia Wedding with a Truly Unique Venue - http://ruffledblog.com/philadelphia-wedding-with-a-truly-unique-venue

From the bride, Filiz: In the beginning, we were really interested in a warehouse/industrial space to make our own. However, we stumbled upon Material Culture and it just spoke to us! It had the warehouse feeling, totally unique, we loved all the vintage and imported good throughout the store, plus at was a nod to my Turkish heritage (my mom was born in Istanbul). We loved it from the moment we stepped foot inside.

Cozy Up with this Chic Philly Wedding

Romantic Weddings

If you ever wanted to see what modern glam with an ode to yesteryear looks like, this astounding Philadelphia wedding from danfredo photos +  films takes first prize. Deep down, Kaitlin and Mark wanted to throw a huge party with their closest family and friends and the celebration was down-to-earth and relaxed, with heaps of earthy vibes and lush greenery centerpieces by Wild Stems that echoed that aesthetic. And don’t forget to check out the bride’s updo: it’s the bee’s knees.

floral crowns - photo by danfredo photos + films http://ruffledblog.com/chic-philadelphia-winter-wedding

From the bride, Kaitlin: Front & Palmer is such a beautiful and unique raw space that we wanted to highlight and play off its exposed brick, high ceilings with industrial beams, and gorgeous hardwood floors as much as possible.  We felt that this worked well with our vision of a minimal, romantic, earthy vibe with lots of soft candlelight and greenery.  As far as our vision of the day itself, it was important to us that it felt more like a huge party with all of our closest family and friends as opposed to a regimented event with specific things needing to happen at specific times.

Tuscan Inspired Terrain Wedding

Garden Weddings

A wedding inspired by Mediterranean colors at Terrain is always a good thing and in the case of Phoebe and Tim’s wedding, it’s a great thing. Ali & Paul Co. were the maestros behind the camera for their big day, catching shots of the organic-colored, Sicily-inspired wedding day. The deep and rich hues from this wedding are a match made in heaven with the venue, to say the least, and Katie Rebecca Events worked wonders to fuse everything together so effortlessly! Weddings like these are certainly a few of our favorite things.

Terrain wedding

From the bride, Phoebe: I always wanted something that was lush with greenery and botanicals. Tim’s grandfather came from Sicily, so we wanted to capture some of that feel, with the ash-green leaves and oranges. I love the juxtaposition of masculine hues with touches of light, feminine colors, so the palette of dark emerald, navy, apricot, and cream worked perfectly. I showed Katie, our wedding planner, some ideas of things I liked, but then she took those ideas and ran with them — and produced something amazing! We gave her style guidelines, but in the end, we trusted her eye and her expertise and gave free reign to her to create and pull together all the details.

Tim and I both have a sibling that was not part of the direct wedding party. However, my brother and Tim’s sister are very important to us, so we wanted to include them in a very special way. They not only read passages during the ceremony, but they also gave speeches, in addition to our maid of honor/best man, in lieu of traditional parent/family speeches. My brother’s speech was unexpectedly laugh-out-loud hilarious and the big hit of the night! Also crazy is the story of my wedding cake: Several years ago, I was a food editor for Cooking Light magazine. I’m very picky about my desserts, so my dear, dear ex-coworker Deb (who is an amazing pastry chef) handmade the personal coconut cake and shipped it to us overnight from Birmingham, AL!

The hanging florals Terrain created for the reception were amazing! I also loved my bouquet — it was so heavy because of just how full Terrain’s floral design team packed it! It’s hard to narrow it down, but I have to also mention the tables/place settings. The napkins + goblets + gold flatware + candles + foliage and oranges was everything that I was hoping for. Katie of Katie Rebecca Events and her team totally delivered.

I think the best moments were when you KNEW you made the right choice because they just GET you. This was especially true when talking to our ceremony vendors. Our officiant, Donna, really wanted to tell our story and write a custom ceremony that was very personal, which was exactly what I had always hoped for. I wanted the ceremony music to be very us, which wasn’t the traditional songs or hymns but also nothing dance-down-the-aisle crazy either! Our musicians, Shawn and Sharon, made the perfect suggestions right away. I fell in love with their rendition of Bob Dylan/Adele’s “To Make You Feel My Love” as soon as I heard it — gave me goosebumps!

Tim and I did a first look. In the nearly 9 years we’ve been together, I’ve barely seen Tim get emotional. He did when he turned around and saw me. It’s funny — I cry a lot at my friends’ weddings, but I didn’t even shed a tear at mine… just lots of laughter! Tim and I are not dancers, so we took classes, like many couples. We only were able to make it to two classes, though, so we were very worried we were going to mess up the steps, even though it wasn’t a true choreographed dance (it was just the rumba). So after photos, while our guests were still at cocktail hour, we snuck into the reception area and practiced like crazy, haha. Lastly, I didn’t expect our father/daughter or mother/son dances to be so emotional. I kept cracking jokes so my dad wouldn’t be too sad. He’s pretty stoic in person.

From the photographers, Ali & Paul Co.Tim & Phoebe wanted a Tuscan inspired wedding surrounded by their closest friends and family. They shared 8 years together and finally planned the wedding of their dreams, thanks to the help of wedding planner, Katie Rebecca. They tied together her favorite color palette of navy, emerald and apricot and created a dreamy reception space filled with citrus and olive leaves. From hand painted wedding invitations, floral creations by Terrain, and mini bottles of Limoncello with custom watercolor and calligraphy tags in place of a seating chart, the details pulled everything together perfectly!

Romantic Philadelphia Horticulture Center Wedding

Romantic Weddings

Winter weddings can have their tricky moments to plan, but Carrie and Mike carried out their Philadelphia wedding day with such finesse and Redfield Photography skillfully captured all of the goodness on camera. We love that they chose a greenhouse setting and brought in beautiful, deep, jewel red colors and floral arrangements by their event and floral designer, Q|A Events; it brought a fun, vibrant feel to the whole event while keeping in line with the season. This is definitely one ultra-creative way to do a cool-seasoned wedding!

winter brides - photo by Redfield Photography http://ruffledblog.com/romantic-philadelphia-horticulture-center-wedding

From the bride, Carrie: We envisioned a warm, romantic, bohemian feel for the wedding.  We originally wanted something laid back, but when we picked a winter wedding date we decided to dress it up a little bit while trying to keep the bohemian feel. We didn’t really have a color scheme, but we chose marsala and berry tones for our flowers because we thought it would compliment the greenery in the venue as well as the bridal party attire. We didn’t do any DIY projects, but I worked very closely with the event designers and I think we designed something amazing together!

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? Start as early as possible and stay organized! Also, when things get overwhelming, make sure you take some time alone with your fiancé to have some fun together. It’s simple, but I think it was the only thing that kept me sane.

Modern Blue Watercolor Wedding Ideas

Wedding Design

Photos by:

M2 Photography

Let’s just go ahead and say it: we go gaga over watercolors. Any shade or style of this newly-beloved wedding trend is perfect to us and we could spend hours dreaming of fun combos to pair it with. Along with M2 PhotographyBelovely gathered up the prettiest, muted blue shades and artistically sprinkled it around this shoot. And we just have to mention that watercolor bridal skirt by Sweet Caroline. The duo of the skirt with marbled-blue swirls and the dainty lace crop top leaves us with two words: wow and swoon.

watercolor wedding ideas - photo by M2 Photography http://ruffledblog.com/modern-blue-watercolor-wedding-ideas

From Lauren of Belovely: Maggie of Maggpie Rentals had asked us to join forces for a Garces Catering Open House and while designing and decorating a tablescape is fun, it is so much more when it’s a full story. So we quickly grabbed our vendor friends (or friendors, as we like to call them) and came up with this spectacular watercolored blue styled shoot.

Come Fly Away With Me Wedding Inspiration

Wedding Design

What better way to have an elopement than to fly away in a hot air balloon? Elizabeth Moore Photography was there to capture the day’s shoot and her photos did it justice! From them we see a shoot flowing with color and fun, seen in the beautiful and vibrant floral arrangements by Forte Florals and the overall styling by the photographer herself. It’s got equal parts vintage and modern flair thrown in, and heaps and heaps of dreamy romance.

From the photographer and stylist, Elizabeth Moore PhotographyA tranquil and pristine rural farm serves as the backdrop for this private hot air balloon elopement inspiration titled “Come Fly With Me”. We can envision this newly eloped bride and groom wanting an intimate and secretive way to celebrate their lasting love for each other, and what better way to depart in style than with a gentle and grand hot air balloon!

Bright Spring Wedding at Terrain

Romantic Weddings

The adorableness in this wedding is off the charts today! This wedding shot by Emily Wren Photography not only has heaps of love between Amy and Sergey, but it’s also covered in endearing homages to family and heritage. Like Emily says, the couple picked out a bold and beautiful color palette with rich, rustic orange tones at the heart of it. Surrounding this palette is a theme of organic details and floral creations by Terrain, and the style fits so fluidly with the romantic venue.

spring weddings - photo by Emily Wren Photography http://ruffledblog.com/bright-spring-wedding-at-terrain

From the photographer, Emily Wren Photography: As my first wedding of the season, Amy’s brightly colored rich and bold blooms were a sight for sore eyes! These two and their beautiful wedding were a breath of fresh air! Quick to laugh and so bubbly with love for one another. Celebrating family was the central theme to this Russian / Jewish wedding. Amy said her vows in Sergey’s native Russian, and he said his in Hebrew. Then family members from both sides of the aisle gave the traditional 7 blessing at the ceremony.

Colorful Greenhouse Wedding Ideas

Wedding Design

Are you ready to add some inspiring greenhouse charm to your day? That’s what’s on our ticket with today’s shoot sent over by Jenna Brianne Photography and Sarah Brookhart Photography, who co-shot the entire day. The floral arrangements from Rosemary & Rust and Sandra L. Porterfield Wedding & Event Floral Design are guaranteed to keep you swooning, and are a key element of every bit of the shoot right down to the beautiful cake displayed atop an ombre tablecloth.

Colorful Greenhouse Wedding Ideas - photo by Jenna Brianne Photography and Sarah Brookhart Photography http://ruffledblog.com/colorful-greenhouse-wedding-ideas

From Jenna Brianne Photography: The inspiration for this wedding shoot was combining fresh and bold colors with the muted tones of Historic Shady Lane’s greenhouse. We sought to plan this shoot around a bohemian bride and groom planning a vibrant spring wedding, and sought out vendors who we knew would understand our vision of combining both sleek and colorful elements and details. Our biggest source of inspiration came from Historic Shady Lane’s property – the perfect blend of both rustic and modern furnishings and decor. The keywords we planned this shoot around were fresh, vibrant, colorful, and bold. The bold hues are incorporated in not only the bouquet, but in the colorful cake and ombre, dip-dyed napkins and tablecloth.

Colorful Wedding at Terrain

Garden Weddings

No matter how many times we see rain on a wedding day, it never appears to put a damper on the newlyweds’ faces. Amanda and Rich were all smiles for their color-filled wedding day at Terrain at Styer’s, one of our very own long-time favorite venues! Ruffled vendor danfredo photos + films nailed it behind the camera, while Fresh Designs Florist brought the bride’s dream floral visions to life.

colorful wedding at Terrain - photo by danfredo photos and film http://ruffledblog.com/colorful-wedding-at-terrain

From the bride, Amanda: My husband Rich and I visited Terrain, our venue, for a coffee several months before we got engaged. We loved how beautiful, rustic, and romantic it was while also feeling laid back and cozy. Terrain’s vibe informed much of our wedding planning. We knew we wanted to get married, and we knew that we wanted all of our guests to really enjoy celebrating with us and to feel like they were a part of something special too. As we planned, we tried to imagine our wedding from the perspective of our guests and make everything as easy and fun as possible.

Sweet Caroline Bridal Collection

Fashion & Beauty

It’s Friday, which makes it the perfect day for poring over some gorgeous bridal designs from Sweet Caroline‘s new lookbook! A talented team of vendors (including Jessica Cooper Photography and Falls Flowers) came together to showcase this stunning collection of separates, ranging in style from classically sweet to edgy and funky.

Sweet Caroline bridal collection - photo by Jessica Cooper Photography http://ruffledblog.com/sweet-caroline-bridal-collection

From the fashion designer, Sweet Caroline: As a designer, you are constantly asked to define your customer. Who is she; what inspires her; what are her dreams; what are her hobbies; her likes, dislikes? As a bridal designer, I always found these questions particularly challenging. A girl’s street style changes from day to day and is constantly evolving, but what does she wear on her most cherished day? How does she make her bridal style her own? When designing the collection, I wanted to create pieces could adapt to any bride’s style. I chose an array of timeless separates that could be mixed and matched for the perfect wedding day look – from trendy girls who want to make a statement in soft colors or an edgy bride who wants to rock it in bold black, to a classic girl who is looking for the perfect neckline and an elegantly long train. For this shoot, I wanted to tell the story of a bride getting ready for her wedding – choosing who she wants to be and what look makes her feel the most beautiful on the day she says “I do.”

Bright and Modern Vow Renewal

Wedding Design

There can’t be a better way to kick off the weekend than with this wildly colorful wedding vow renewal from Tina Jay Photography, Laurel & Elm, and Foster’s Flower Shop. Even though this shoot took place during a blizzard, you’d never know it from all the joy and brightness going on! Let’s jump on in to the goodness, shall we?

bright and modern vow renewal - photo by Tina Jay Photography http://ruffledblog.com/bright-and-modern-vow-renewal

From the photographer, Tina Jay Photography: The inspiration for our Bright + Modern Vow Renewal Styled Shoot started when we decided to get together and photograph something fun and happy in these long winter months. The gorgeous, bright details of this styled shoot came together at the perfect time – our shoot took place on the day of the Jonas Blizzard! We managed to get everything put together and photographed, RIGHT as the first flurries started to fall.

Dusty Blue Winter Winery Wedding

Wedding Design

Dusty blues, crisp whites, and luxurious greens are such a natural grouping that we can’t help but love them together in this styled shoot from Ashley Errington Photography and Allium Design. This team of vendors kept everything icy cool by adding touches of silver (like the wonderful metallic cake), which you can see peppered throughout the reception table. Love!

dusty blue winter winery wedding - photo by Ashley Errington Photography http://ruffledblog.com/dusty-blue-winter-winery-wedding

From the floral designers and stylists, Allium Design: There’s just something so delightful about a winter wedding… This inspiration piece gave us an opportunity to give a little nod to the season and play with a soft palette of grey-green and dusty blue. Our happy couple (a real-life pair) was given free rein to meander through the winter vineyard and Tuscan-inspired winery. The open hillside and stone throughout the venue’s decor offered the perfect neutral backdrop for styling the space. While the color palette was a large part of the design, we wanted there to be warm contrast to the cool colors and muted silver accents. We brought in a couch with cozy blankets and textural pillows and a plush white shag rug beneath it and added lots of lush greenery throughout to soften the stone. Then we layered on an endless supply of vintage candlesticks and dusty blue candles for a soft, romantic glow.

Swiss Chalet Wedding Inspiration

Wedding Design

Although today’s shoot doesn’t take place in a real-life Swiss chalet, you’d almost never know it by looking at these images. The talented team of Samantha Jay Photography, Bottle Pop Party Co., and Fresh Designs Florist created this styled wedding ripe with ideas inspired by the Alps and bier gardens, with a modern take on some rustic decor. Love!

Swiss chalet wedding inspiration - photo by Samantha Jay Photography http://ruffledblog.com/swiss-chalet-wedding-inspiration

From the photographer, Samantha Jay Photography: While the historic hills of the Brandywine Valley in Pennsylvania are a far cry from the snow-capped Alps in Germany and Switzerland, the roots of our inhabitants can be found there. Here you’ll also find a converted barn wedding venue whose walnut beams and white washed walls invoke the same feelings of a warm and cozy mountain chalet. The Gables at Chadds Ford was the inspiration for our alpine affair so we filled it with the work of some of our area’s most talented wedding professionals.

Berry Toned Wedding at Terrain

Blue Label, Romantic Weddings

Well it just doesn’t get any cozier than this next wedding from Sweet Root Village and Strawberry Milk Events. The incredible day was pulled together in under 2 months (can you believe it?) and was an intimate celebration at one of our favorite event venues, Terrain at Styers. Let’s take a look!

berry toned wedding at Terrain - photo by Sweet Root Village http://ruffledblog.com/berry-toned-wedding-at-terrain

From the photographers, Sweet Root Village: Kayanne and David got hitched at the courthouse back in September, but still desired a more formal (yet intimate) celebration with family and close friends. It just so happens that Kayanne’s new sister-in-law is Julie Savage-Parekh of Strawberry Milk Events. She helped Kayanne whip up a cozy, Christmastime celebration in under 2 months for around 40 guests at the charming Terrain at Styer’s (Anthropologie’s nursery and cool event space outside of Philly.)

Being 2 hours outside of D + K’s hometown of Annapolis, MD it made for a fun, mini destination wedding location. Julie, David and their family visit Terrain every year at Christmastime for brunch and shopping because it’s simply magical. Kayanne had never been – and her first visit was the day of their wedding where she too, fell under it’s enchantment. They had their first look among the Christmas tree farm while guests arrived and enjoyed a mini cocktail hour complete with gourmet hot chocolate bar and a cheese and charcuterie display. Guests then entered the greenhouse for a candlelit, religious ceremony where the bride and groom exchanged their own vows.

After the ceremony, the curtain was pulled back to reveal a magical dining room with one dramatic, long kings table that held hundreds of candles and crystal candelabras. A seasonal garland of greenery also ran down the length of the table. The farm to table multi-course meal was fantastic (we’re talking butternut squash bisque, braised beef short ribs and individual apple pies a la mode in cast iron skillets), and there were several heartfelt speeches and toasts. Although the celebration was more of a dinner party, the bride and groom still shared a first dance to Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud.” The sweetest surprise actually came after cake cutting, when Kayanne’s maid of honor showed a touching video of special messages recorded by Kayanne’s family back home in Brazil who were unable to make the trip. The bride did her hair and makeup herself and had two something borrowed’s – Julie’s Vera Wang veil and antique diamond shoe clips. The bride DIY’d the polaroid guest book table, signage, gold glitter pine cone ornament favors and place cards.

Eclectic Appleford Estate Wedding Inspiration

Wedding Design

Eclectic was the word of the day for this styled shoot from Jessica Cooper Photography and Falls Flowers. Mismatched chairs, vintage oil lamps, and a mix of fun napkins were all key elements here, playing beautifully against the couple’s modern romantic look. Just wait until you see all of the yummy dessert ideas!

eclectic Appleford Estate wedding inspiration - photo by Jessica Cooper Photography http://ruffledblog.com/eclectic-appleford-estate-wedding-inspiration

From the event designer, Forget-Me-Not Vintage Rentals: The gorgeous grounds of Appleford Estate in Villanova, PA initially inspired this beautifully eclectic shoot. Even with the lush greenery and bright blooms fallen for the season, florist Alyssa Rainville of Falls Flowers foraged for local berries and stems that added their own rustic charm to all of her designs. The gorgeous bouquet was a blend of these locally harvested items and fresh flowers, creating the perfect woodsy, winter mix. Forget Me Not brought their keen sense of style to the tablescape and ceremony space, playing on the rustic feel of the venue by using their handmade farm table, mismatched chairs, and vintage oil lamps. For a fresh, modern twist, they brought in an eclectic collection of fun napkins, accent pillows and other textiles. Pippa & Fig brought the natural rustic element even more to life with a leather detailed escort display – each guest’s name hand painted on a banner-style leather tag. The invitation suite was a fresh of modern tribal prints and Kraft paper, perfectly complementing our theme. Highlighting the bar top of 13th Street Cocktails, was a reclaimed wood serving tray from Infinite Abyss Handmade. The inlaid tribal design is another perfect nod to the organic modern elements of this shoot. Queen Bee Pastry created a collection of white, textured cakes, giving Falls Flowers another chance to show off their foraged winter finds. Adorable mini Mason jar pies completed Queen Bee’s assortment of desserts, and added the perfect rustic touch.

This bride’s gorgeous auburn tresses were perfectly tousled by Belles and Grooms, giving her a carefree, romantic look. The makeup, by Occasions by Diana, gave her a clean, natural look. Focusing on her glowing, fair skin tone, Diana accented her brows and cheeks staying away from any harsh lines or bold lips. She kept the brides eyes romantic and soft using shadows and a pencil liner. Sweet Caroline designed her custom made separates – choosing a sheer, long sleeve top with lace appliqué, allowing her to have a gorgeous semi-open back, while still remaining modest for the cold weather. A soft tulle skirt, accented with a leather wrap belt, tied this look in perfectly with the overall theme. The bride’s incredible emerald ring from Harry Merrill and Son Jewelers stole the show as the perfect choice for an alternative engagement ring. Harry Merrill’s simple diamond earrings and hand engraved wedding bands added a touch of sophistication. Bel Aire Bridal provided the perfect, woodsy-inspired headpieces and a gorgeous cathedral veil added an air of romance and whimsy. For the groom, we chose a less formal, light gray suit from Generation Tux, accessorized with a black bow tie, skinny black suspenders and a brown oxford shoe.

Whimsical Poconos Woodland Wedding

Whimsical Weddings

Photos by:

This eclectic woodland wedding, captured by Redfield Photography, definitely shows the bride and grooms personalities. Some couples steer away from taking every element of their wedding on but not Jane and Brandon. Just about every detail of their wedding was planned or created by their family and friends or themselves. Now that is some serious teamwork!

whimsical Poconos woodland wedding - photo by Redfield Photography http://ruffledblog.com/whimsical-poconos-woodland-wedding

From the bride, Jane: Brandon and I both come from creative stock (his mom’s a dancer, my parents are both classical musicians), so the little details and what they represented really mattered to us. We started out wanting to keep it simple, but ended up making pretty much everything and dragging our best friends and family into it, too. I learned to do a lot of things I didn’t know how to do before (Wood carving? No big deal!). A few days before the wedding, it basically became a craft fair in the woods – a few days of summer camp full of DIY, painting, tying, punctuated by karaoke and beer pong and family chats. It was a blast. It helped that the owners of the barn, Mia and Ralph, were awesome and game for making the day what we envisioned.

Big wood initials – Brandon is an amateur furniture maker (he made all the furniture in our NYC apartment!). When I told him I wanted him to build something cool, he sawed and hammered in his parents’ garage, and when he was done, he had created two giant initials (J and B), painted them gold, and attached LED lights to the back so they would glow for the dance party. Pretty cool husband I’ve got.

Invitations – We designed our invitations based on old vintage Poconos postcards. As a keepsake, we burned little forest landscapes into small wooden rounds with our initials on the back, and tied everything together with baker’s twine.

wedding programs - photo by Redfield Photography http://ruffledblog.com/whimsical-poconos-woodland-wedding

Programs – We wrote every guest a little thank you note in our program, because we wanted to make sure everyone knew they were a part of our family. I dusted off the old Photoshop skills and cobbled the programs together myself. A illustrator friend from the tech startup I work for drew a caricature of us that we used for the front, and I literally got them printed from Office Depot two night before (whew). Flowers – I was convinced we didn’t need to spend a fortune on flowers. We found bloominous.com, which ships flowers to you – designed and bulk. One of their designers, Richard, and I plotted over the phone for weeks, and a day before the wedding, all the flowers came FedEx. Our lovely friend made my floral crown and all the bouquets (she’s never ever done it before and they turned out to be AMAZING) and my bridesmaid and family put all the table flowers in all sorts of vases to place on the tables.

Wedding ceremony chapel – My parents disappeared for two hours, and when I found them, they had decorated the ceremony chapel with fresh garlands I ordered online (from Sam’s Club!) and added some color with flowers Mia had around the barn. So beautiful.

Cake – Brandon’s groomsman Nick’s mom is basically his second mother. He’s been dreaming about a wedding cake baked by Daria for years – it’s half the reason I suspect he wanted to marry me. When I told her we were hoping for a “naked” cake, she pulled herself together, googled it, and made the most spectacular and delicious carrot cake I’ve ever seen.

Tables – Well, this wasn’t DIY, but we found Forget-Me-Not Vintage rentals. I told Renee my vision for a family style dinner with jewel colored old-world goblets, eclectic china, and mismatched… everything, and she obliged. We set all the big farm tables out in the clearing in the woods – together it looked pretty magical.

Favors – A friend of mine started Sriracha2Go which makes tiny, keychain versions of the hot sauce I (and every other Asian in the world) put on everything. He generously sent us a bunch of these to use as favors! I printed my mom’s Chinese chicken recipe and put them in little burlap sacks. Totally functional!!

Brandon and I really just wanted a big ol’ party in the woods with all the people we love, and as many of the things we like, as possible. When we found Tall Timber Barn in the Poconos amongst all the beautiful tall trees, next to an old abandoned resort rumored to be haunted, 15 minutes bus ride from a local casino for an afterparty, we were sold. We wanted a family dinner outside in the clearing with eclectic table settings, lots of flowers and vases, games, and sunshine, followed by a dance party in the barn with glowsticks and animal masks, lots of things to see and eat, and lots of laughter and bourbon. We wanted the day to feel romantic and slightly otherworldly. Our wedding party got to explore the haunted resort in the area with our photographers, Marisa and John, and videographer. Brandon and I wanted to honor our families’ journeys. Brandon’s family hails from Hawaii and my parents and I are from China, so we wanted to make sure we took pieces of our cultures we loved and brought them into our wedding. Both our families have gone through a lot to get to celebrate together and we felt so deeply grateful. We had a traditional Hawaiian lei ceremony officiated by Brandon’s uncle Juan, who came all the way from Honolulu to join us.

My parents are both musicians, and my brother and I were forced as children of musicians to learn (albeit rather poorly in my case). We brought the band back together for a big show, my parents and I on violin and my brother on piano. My dad also plays a host of Chinese folk instruments, and he busted out some mean solos on the Er Hu, a 2 stringed instrument traditionally used in Chinese theatre. Everyone started stomping the floor on the beat and hollering – it was awesome. We also brought Chinese street shiskabobs straight from the streets of Flushing, Queens. We basically went to Flushing one day and convinced our favorite street vendor to drive to the depth of Pennsylvania at night. What awesome guys for coming! These late night snacks were my favorite food growing up as a little girl in China, and they were a huge hit at the wedding. And finally, my dad’s speech. He’s not a verbose guy, and when he said, “This is everything your mother and I hoped for you,” it meant everything. He also hand carved a photorealistic picture of Brandon and I in wood as a gift for us – unreal.

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? Go for everything you truly want and make sure you make your family and friends feel loved and special. I believe you should do all the things you dreamed of to make this one day yours – it’s a day that really represents who you and your fiancé are as people and as a couple. People kept telling me not to focus on the details, but I’m so glad we made it a fun, creative project we got to work on with the whole family. Details for me were all the fun!

Collaborative Pennsylvania Farm Wedding

Rustic Weddings

Photos by:

Justin Tearney

When bride and groom Heather and Scott started to take on endless DIY projects for their wedding day, they had no shortage of friends and family willing to lend a hand and help tackle the decor. The result is a day at Fox Hill Farm that’s a true collaborative effort, with beautiful thoughtful details everywhere you turn and a wedding photographed by Justin Tearney that will be remembered for years and years to come.

From the bride, Heather: It was really important to us that our celebration reflected and honored our individuals stories and our history together. My grandmother was an artist and her hand painted silk scarves made beautiful runners for the dessert tables, cocktail tables and more. I even used one of her unpainted scarves as a sash. Scott, a photographer, brought his father’s 4×5 camera to be used in photographs. We had recently moved back North after living in Nashville for eight years, so we went with a Southern inspired menu including chicken and waffles, Mac and cheese, hush puppies and pork belly sliders. Scott’s father is known in our families for his pies, and we were excited to have him supplement the amazing desserts made by Allie’s Cupcakery and Cafe with some of our favorite pies he makes.

My father is a woodworker and designer and crafted an amazing bar using antique doors, live edge details, and a copper top. It fit in so perfectly at the venue in their Civil War era barn and existing use of antique doors that it ended up staying for use by future couples. In addition he made a second bar section to hide the kegs, and two beautiful live edge tables, one for the photo booth and one for refreshments and programs at the entrance to the ceremony. He also made the wooden welcome sign Heather wrote on to mark the entrance of the venue.

One of our favorite parts of the whole experience was how collaborative it was. Perhaps our friends and families thought we were a little wacky for how many DIY projects we took on, but if they did they never let on, and pitched in enthusiastically to help us in any way they could. Heather and her sisters all worked together to dip dye over 100 napkins. Scott’s sister and her husband surprised us with an incredible performance of Closer to You by Brandi Carlile during the reception. Heather’s mother was the master organizer which is perhaps the most important part when you are planning a completely DIY wedding. The whole event ended up going off without a hitch and we have no doubt it is because of all of the help we had from family and friends in so many more ways than we could ever list here.

Sweet Root Village

Rachele has spent the past two years working with photography and floral design powerhouse Sweet Root Village, so it was a bit of a no-brainer that they would be an integral part of her wedding day. The day was filled to the brim with inspiring details like agate table numbers, beautiful greenery accents, and a bright fuchsia bouquet to contrast the white floral arrangements for the reception. We can’t get enough!

From the bride, Rachele: If there is anything Josh and I have to say about our wedding day is that we wish we could go back and relive the day, and that we would have danced more than we got to! We knew we wanted to have a small wedding with close family friends and we knew we wanted to mix earthy elements with pops of glam along with personal touches from me and Josh. We DIYed lots of leather tassels to bring in the earthy accents as well as adding ferns to our paper goods (we got engaged on a fern covered patio) and used plexiglass to create complementing acrylic signs to match our candelabras and chairs. We also knew that we couldn’t go wrong working with my closest friends and co-workers at Sweet Root Village who really made the vision come together and kept the day running smoothly.

Naturally, working in the wedding world I had heaps of inspiration about what our wedding day could look and feel like! I originally had dreamed of a winter wedding full of fur, velvet, a dash of Shakespearean class, and deep rich tones. When Josh and I got engaged, we planned for a February wedding, hoping for a snowy wonderland, but after two weeks of being engaged, we decided to move our wedding to November! As much as we both loved the holiday season, we did want to be careful to ensure that our wedding didn’t feel holiday inspired, so we kept the love for rich tones in my bouquet (which I LOVED!) and opted for gorgeous white and green flowers and a palette of grey, gold, navy, and white for the rest of the wedding. The main inspiration for the day came from the venue. As soon as I walked in, I dreamed of bringing a touch of glam and earthy accents to match the stone walls and marble fire places!

Rachele’s Favorite Memory: Our first look! Josh looked so handsome and we were so excited to see each other and we really enjoyed spending time together before the guests arrived. Joshua’s Favorite Memory: After the ceremony was finished, we (Rachele and I) snuck away into our reception room where we enjoyed our first few minutes as a married couple. We were so happy that all we could do was hug each other while crying joyful tears.

From the photographers and florists, Sweet Root Village: Rachele has worked for us at Sweet Root Village for two years now and not only is she a bundle of light, energy, and humor in the studio during the day-to-day, but she’s also an amazing friend to us and we’ve had the pleasure of watching her relationship with Josh from the very beginning! Josh involved us in his proposal and we got to plan Rach a rocking bridal shower. We were beyond honored to help her pull together an amazing look for her wedding as well as capture the amazing day with her closest friends and family! Rachele and Josh selected an awesome venue in the heart of their hometown of Warren, Pennsylvania. This was the second wedding to ever take place at the Crary Art Gallery and it was a dream! Rachele and Josh put together so many personal details for their day. Josh is a graphic designer and took care of designing the invitations suite, menu, and other paper goods! Rachele painted the escort display canvas and crafted heaps of details like the cocktail stir sticks for the guests at the bar as well as leather and velvet tassels securing a bundle of honey stick at each place setting. They also worked together to create a photo booth backdrop inspired by their venue choice of famous paintings strung between velvet curtains! Something that the guests enjoyed immensely! Rachele also created the acrylic signage elements on the bar and side tables. The couple surprised their bridal party with curated gifts and Rachele’s maid of honor, her sister, received a rocking oversized raw crystal ring she found on Etsy! Rachele was immensely in love with ghost chairs and a lot of details for the rest of the day ended up matching perfectly. We included crystal candelabras, lots of clear glass candle elements, crystal cake cutting tools, the acrylic signage, and glass roof of the ceremony space! For flowers, we got to pack the tables with wintery blush blooms and drape the ceremony space in vines. The greens felt almost as if they were already growing in the space! We used the same vines to accent a lot of other areas like the escort display, bar, and cake bar cart. Rachele wanted a very neutral palette for her wedding but had her heart set on one super bomb blast of bold red in her bouquet! We packed it full of every one of our favorite red flowers, including: amaryllis, garden roses, peonies, orchids, ranunculus, cosmos, tulips, and more! It was a dream to design and one massively heavy armful of goodness. We worked with lots of ferns elements throughout the day in all the centerpieces, the cake, and in the bridesmaid bouquets! Josh and Rachele’s ceremony was one of the most emotional events we’ve had the opportunity to photograph. We were crying and laughing and singing and smiling so hard throughout the entire time! Josh was an emotional mess as Rachele walked down the aisle. Heck, we were all an emotional mess! There was plenty of fun and high fives and a shower of red roses petals over their first kiss as husband and wife!

Romantic Wedding at John James Audubon

Romantic Weddings

Whimsy, romance, glamour, vintage charm — this wedding from Maria Mack Photography has it all. Maria and Michael’s wedding in Pennsylvania was everything they could hope for, including a reception space completely decked out in colorful ribbons and two incredibly stunning gowns for the bride. Thank you Buttercup and Elevee Events for beautiful design work on this day!

From the bride, Maria: We really wanted a Whimsical Vintage Glamour feel. We wanted it to be beautiful and romantic, while making sure it really showed our personalities and personal style. Our venue had a beautiful, rustic, natural landscape which we designed the rest of the wedding around. We didn’t have a specific color scheme – we wanted it to be colorful with a mix of color with elegant pops of glamour – hence the sequin details on our bridal party, glamourous second gown, and twinkle lights throughout the space. We used mismatched china, a beautiful designed sweetheart table with a chandelier, and had our entire reception pavilion draped with colorful ribbon.

Forest Inspired Wedding at Terrain

Rustic Weddings

When today’s couple entered Terrain at Styer’s for the first time, they knew they had found something special. Better yet, the bride knew that she wanted to get married there — after all, it perfectly highlighted her love of trees, forests, and all things woodsy. Maria Mack Photography was the next piece of the puzzle, and soon everything was falling into place.

forest inspired wedding at Terrain - photo by Maria Mack Photography http://ruffledblog.com/forest-inspired-wedding-at-terrain

From the bride, Catherine: Our style was just us! We wanted to focus our style around “our favorites”! We love throwing parties at our house, so we wanted to have awesome party, with all of our favorite people and of our favorite things. Paul knows how much I love trees. And greenery, and sticks, branches. Basically I would like to live in a forest :) I always envisioned lots of twinkling lights, candles everywhere, lots of wood and birch! So when he took me to Terrain for my birthday 2 years ago, we spent hours there and fell in love with the place. We knew we wanted to get married there.

Since everyone was doing “rustic”, that is not really the word or look we were going for. It was more like homey, woodsy, really bringing the outside in. I always knew I wanted moss table runners with soft romantic tea lights in different metals. Paul really loved the idea of the overhanging draped linen to bring it all in for a homey feel. The theme was truly just us. We wanted to enhance the true beauty of Terrain and use natural colors and textures… browns, grays, burlap, twine, metals and I added the hint of purple to make it all pop. For our Décor, we decided to take items from our home that complemented the look and feel of our vision. Decorations and signs that we have collected on our trips over the years or gifts that people have given us. And now they are back in our home as a constant reminder of our love on our wedding day. Talk about DIY :) Our vase on the sweetheart table was a gift from friends, so were our wedding champagne glasses and forks and knives, and the personalized coasters and wood signs at the bar. The fence baskets used to hold the programs also hold magazines in our living room. We brought in the hanging bottles and all of the pussywillows that we used for our ceremony altar and aisle decorations. They were from pussywillow tree’s from my aunt’s home in Maryland and a huge pussywillow bouquet from my aunt in Maine!

We had many DIY projects, including: Hanging Photos of every guest – we wanted to decorate the outside porch area of terrain with photos of everyone! We bought twine and clothes pin and made vertical hanging ropes of photos of us with all of our guests. Programs – we had so much fun creating these. We made the programs with brown kraft paper and twine and made it like a flip chart! In it included our favorite things, the best RSVP madlibs postcard responses and a thank you at the end which included every guest’s names. We thought this would be fun to read while they were drinking their Champagne and Guinness before the ceremony. I really wanted everyone to feel appreciated and a part of our day. Another big part of the program was the wording we included for the group pronouncement. My brother was the officiant and we really wanted our guests to all be a part of pronouncing us husband and wife, so they got to read along. It was awesome to hear! Seating chart – we found a map of downtown Philadelphia (where we live), and made a board of the map pointing to where each neighborhood was. Each guest would be at a table was a different neighborhoods in the city. The neighborhoods were displayed on real sewing machine bottoms that were written on with chalk! I found them at a flea market and kept going back every week until I had a total of 10 for our tables! Favors – Individual Photo Frames of the Guests! When the guests arrived at their table, they found a photo of themselves in a copper bronzed tree frame. We had so much fun picking out photos of everyone and putting them in the frames. Now, it’s really cool to see them displayed at our friends houses when we are visiting them! We also had Seed Packets – We had someone on Etsy make us a stamp of Let Love Grow, Paul and Catherine. We bought the wildflower seeds and sealed them in kraft brown envelopes.

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? Our advice would be to really make your wedding your own. Don’t try to satisfy the needs of others or get too much input from others. People are always going to have an opinion and it may not be what you were thinking originally. Stay strong if you have a vision! You have been waiting your whole life for this day and it should be as perfect as you are together. Dance to the song you want to (um, hello 80’s), eat the food you want to (sliders, french fry station, donuts, rootbeer floats and fried chicken), get the flavor or two flavors (chocolate chip and carrot cake!) of wedding cake that you want to! Between Paul and I, we have been to over 20 weddings together in the 3 years of dating. It was so much fun to talk about our own vision each time we left a wedding. Really take the time to decide what you like and don’t like from other weddings. It’s not to say that those weddings are not beautiful or amazing, but they may just not be your style. We wanted our guests to walk into our wedding and have it scream “This is so Cat and Pauli’s wedding.” And we think that it did exactly that!

Chic Autumn Wedding in Pennsylvania

Rustic Weddings

Put together a bride and groom who share a love for football, a “vintage chic” wedding theme, and a navy and gold color palette, and you have this beautiful modern wedding in Pennsylvania. Veronica Varos Photography and Garnish Event Design are sharing their gorgeous work on Lauren and Scott’s wedding day, which is filled to the brim with sweet ideas and totally enviable details.

chic autumn wedding in Pennsylvania - photo by Veronica Varos Photography http://ruffledblog.com/chic-autumn-wedding-in-pennsylvania

From the bride, Lauren: Our theme is ‘vintage chic’ and our colors are navy and old gold. Scott is a PITT Alum, and I am a WVU Alum so the navy/gold was a no-brainer for our color scheme. Football is a HUGE part of our life and my family’s life revolved around the WVU football schedule growing up. So adding touches of the “Backyard Brawl” here and there is a must.

Scott is the most kind hearted, fun loving man I’ve ever met. He truly is one in a million!! We really put SO MANY hours into this day, down to every last detail (as you hopefully will be able to see!). I have heard so many horror stories about wedding planning and the stress of it, but as soon as we got engaged I started looking into things. Pinterest is both amazing and incredibly hard to compete with. A few months into planning, I came across a wonderful article about “Pinterest Weddings” and how they aren’t real. “That floral wall? That cost thousands and was meticulously constructed for a high end magazine photo shoot. These weddings are realistic, because they aren’t weddings!” — that’s when I decided, I am going to limit my crafting, and pick a few must have details and let the rest be done for me. The whole process has been so much fun and although I’ve loved every minute, I can’t wait to see it all come together and then GO ON OUR HONEYMOON! (Note from photographer: They went to Bora Bora! The photos you see of her looking surprised mid-way through the set are the images taken the very moment Scott told her they were going to Bora Bora in front of all of their friends and family!).

Blush Pink Pennsylvania Farm Wedding

Rustic Weddings

This bride’s own words say it all: “We were intentional about having a meaningful, intimate ceremony surrounded by our closest friends and family followed by a super fun party.” Sarah and Ryan’s Pennsylvania wedding was utter perfection, with a focus on the guests and the couple’s love for each other. Big props to Brianna Wilbur Photography, Elizabeth Kate Events, and Petals with Style and all other vendors involved for a gorgeous day.

From the bride, Sarah: Since our wedding was held outside in beautiful Lancaster, Pennsylvania, we wanted our wedding’s style to be organic and natural. We were intentional about having a meaningful, intimate ceremony surrounded by our closest friends and family followed by a super fun party. We truly believe we got the best of both worlds!

Some adjectives that would describe the look of our wedding would be organic, ethereal, romantic, and fun. We didn’t have a concrete color scheme. I was all about natural, neutral colors with pops of color. The bouquets were filled with lots of greenery and bright flowers. The bridesmaids wore mismatched blush dresses and gold-toned jewelry and the groomsmen wore navy blue suits with gray striped ties. In terms of DIY, I designed the wedding programs, ring box, table assignment board, name cards, table “numbers” (which were actually places my husband and I had been to together and an accompanying photo of us in that location), and the chalkboard signs.

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? Make sure you fully trust in the vendors you select. I was entirely confident in every vendor we chose and it allowed me to relax and know that everything was covered. I just had to focus on getting married! Also, do as many of the DIY elements long before the wedding. I procrastinated and was super busy designing and crafting the week before the wedding.

From the photographer, Brianna Wilbur: I was shooting the reception, walking by a table of college boys when I heard one mumble, “Man, this wedding makes me want to settle down and have a wife,” in a rather serious tone. You know the wedding and couple is amazing when you hear that from a party driven college boy. I knew the bride before her wedding day but not close enough to call her a best friend of course. Now, I see a lot of brides slip on their white dresses. I usually get super excited, genuinely super happy. However, she was different. She literally took my breath away in that gown and I was truly teary behind my camera. I could see the excitement all over her face slipping into that perfect-fit lace dress & watched the realization wash over her that this is her day. She didn’t forget a single detail: the lush florals, various mismatched blush bridesmaid dresses that went together just so perfectly, her dainty green flower crown, the vintage decor, and more! His reaction when he saw her was so genuine and heartfelt (as you will see). These two have this palpable, deep love for one another with a very silly, lighthearted flare. Their vows were carefully crafted, every word picked with a purpose & meaning. The entire wedding felt like one big group of super fans that were 120% Sarah & Ryan. It was an honor to witness this marriage. It rained most of the day, it didn’t matter. This Lancaster, Pennsylvania farm wedding was a dream. The florals were fluffy, lush, and summery. The bridesmaids mismatched blush dresses complimented the rustic, elegant farm feel of Eagles Ridge. The bride is a wedding photographer herself and made every last detail beautiful. I hope you enjoy this as much as I do!

Stylish Pennsylvania Bird Sanctuary Wedding

Garden Weddings

Pat Furey

Be still our wedding-loving hearts. This Pennsylvania wedding between Melissa and Sam has some of our absolute favorite vendors on board, including Pat Furey, Laurel and Elm, and Kate Farley, just to name a few! It might just be the perfect wedding for fall, mixing a color palette of blush pink and burgundy to perfection and even incorporating berry boutonnieres for the gents.

From the bride, Melissa: I envisioned our wedding style being natural elegance with pops of whimsy. We wanted our day to be gorgeous, insanely fun and memorable for our guests without being too formal. Great food and drinks, tons of dancing with beautiful details for a memorable backdrop for our big day. The color story was blush, burgundy and amber with pops of metallic copper and gold wherever I could possibly incorporate them :)

Since I’m a designer specializing in hand lettering there were a TON of DIY projects: I designed my own engagement ring, Save the Dates, wedding invitations (with hand-painted watercolor floral envelope liners), wedding website, programs, hand stamped muslin welcome bags with itinerary and door hanger, hand calligraphed seating chart, dip-dyed calligraphed placecards, wine bottles with labels that doubled as the table number and guestbook for each table (we’re planning on opening them on each corresponding anniversary), signage, and for the place cards I dip-dyed them different colors based on our guests’ meal choices —- burgundy was prime rib, brown for duck, and green for the vegetarian option (pasta). My mom, sister and I also constructed all the terrariums we used for centerpieces and the garland that was hung on the fireplace and bar at the reception.

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? Enjoy every minute of your big day and know the details you want to pay attention to – there’s so much going on that day it’s easy to miss things if you’re not looking for them. Don’t forget to eat! Take dance lessons! We surprised all our family and friends by learning to waltz and having some simple choreography for our first dance – everyone went crazy and loved it!! Spring for videography – being able to watch moments from your big day years later will be priceless.

Green Thumb Wedding at Terrain

Wedding Design

If you’ve got a green thumb and love to garden, I think we’ve found the perfect wedding for you. Jessica Cooper Photography and Sebesta Design put together this stylish wedding shoot inspired by lots of natural textures and a warm color palette of gold, copper, orange, and yellow. Stay tuned, because we’ve got a great DIY tutorial from the team coming later today!

From the photographer Jessica Cooper Photography and the designer Sebesta Design: Inspired by theme “Rooted In Love” and the ultra organic look of hanging root balls we worked with hearty textures like wood, grapevine and leather to give the shoot a grounded natural feel, but wanted to bring in lots of lush textures in both the blossoms and foliage so that it didn’t loose its romantic edge. This late Summer, early Fall sunset color palette of gold, copper, terra cotta and dusty blue allowed us to play with so many great blossoms.

Double petal garden roses played off of the flittering buds on the northern sea oats, while long spikes of dusty blue delphinium laid side by side with lush and low velvety clusters of the raspberry coxcomb. The entire inspiration was brought to life at Terrain at their Garden Shed & Greenhouse. The rough cut wooden planks and walls gave us the perfect backdrop for everything from our hanging grapevine ball arrangements, to our specialty drink display.
