Forgive the pun, but this Palm Springs wedding blows all others out of the water. In fact, it was so wonderful the couple made a two-day celebration of it, complete with — wait for it — synchronized swimmers. Also, this couple has some of the cutest darn wedding favors we’ve ever seen. Each guest received a pre-stamped envelope to encourage him or her to send a letter to a loved one. Adorable, no? We owe endless thanks to our very own Blue Label member Souder Photography for sharing and to Sitting in a Tree for designing such fabulous fête!

Instead of the traditional day after brunch that some couples choose to host for out of town guests, Kristen and Don had a food truck serving burgers!

Jeline + CJ’s Fun Wisconsin Wedding

I jumped out of my chair when I saw Kodi of Adam LeSage Photography email with images from Jeline’s wedding. Jeline, the stylish bride, wore a charming tea length wedding dress and yellow suede ankle boots that matched the yellow bridesmaid dresses they purchased at Modcloth. Jeline found her wedding dress at, drumroll please, David’s Bridal. Isn’t it a gem? CJ, the stylish groom, wore a slim fit white suit to contrast with the black suits the groomsmen wore. We’re really excited to share this wedding with you, the Jilane (the bride) has such great style and the couple worked hard to keep the wedding affordable yet beautiful. It was a fun day that resulted in some great images. Both the ceremony and reception were held at Heritage Hill State Park, the ceremony at 11:30AM and the reception immediately following. The centerpieces at each table were birch logs tied with ribbon with pies made by a family friend of the bride on top of them, and guests were assigned to tables based on the kind of pie which they then ate for dessert. After the meal everyone participated in swing dancing lead by friends of the couple. Jilane is also a photographer and gave us complete creative freedom to get the images that she wanted.

Callie + Jay’s 1960s Woodland Wedding

I love when brides submit their own weddings! Callie emailed me last week sharing a bit of her vintage wedding, with a 60s inspired “woodland” theme and a vintage dress to drool over. A vintage wedding dress worn by Twiggy? Yes, please! Let’s dive in to this super mod wedding fete.

From the bride, Callie:
We got married last November, in a cozy historic lodge in Berkeley, California. We fell in love with the lodge the moment we walked in. With wood floors, vaulted ceilings, a wood burning fireplace and located in the middle of the secluded Berkeley Hills, part of the East Bay National Park District, we new it would be ideal for our 1960′s woodland themed wedding. And it was indeed super cozy and intimate. We had about 75 of our closest friends and family attend an extremely short ceremony lasting just over five minutes and officiated by my husband’s favorite cousin followed by a vegetarian supper paired with delicious wines from my hometown of Santa Ynez, CA (made famous by the film Sideways), backed by 1960′s folk and rock soundtrack (think Neil Young, Love, and the Zombies) spun by my two girlfriends who I used to DJ with back in my early 20′s. We walked down the aisle to 13 by Big Star and walked away to La la la love you by the Pixies.

Her story is so good, I didn’t have the hear to edit shorter. It’s that worth it!
Our vintage inspired wedding was extremely DIY, we are fortunate enough to have a circle of super creative friends who were able to provide at little and/or no cost to us the photography, music, and decorations. My bestie made our amazing table seating assignments which were individual trees with leaves hanging off featuring our guest’s name and the “tree” they would be sitting at. The tables had names like Oak, Fir, Pine, etc. She also made the boutonnieres out of tiny red toadstool mushrooms, acorns and leaves… they ended up so cute, even my Dad approved!

The woodland vintagey theme kind of took on a mind of its own once I found my vintage wedding dress which I should add, is a story in itself. I found it via a vintage dresses feature they were running on Good Morning America. It’s a 1969 Bill Blass dress originally modeled by Twiggy, that was actually featured on the show! I found my patent leather 60′s inspired Chloe heels on eBay for just under $300, I believe they were originally sold for around $700, so I felt I really lucked out on those. At 4 inches, they were surprisingly comfortable! I chose to wear ivory opaque tights with my dress which I’m quite glad I did. I thought they completed the mod 60′s carnaby street look I was going for, plus, they made me feel a little less self conscious about the length of my dress. I let my two best friends who stood up for me choose their dresses themselves. We had a palette of gold, mustard, chocolate, black and ivory. They both found their dresses at Anthropologie and though they were mismatched, I loved the way they looked together. They were both knee length, but still longer than my dress and they both wore black opaque tights.

For the photobooth, I brought several polaroid cameras I had from home (I’ve collected vintage cameras since college) and we set up a photo station complete with gold gel pens, a framed sign sharing tips & instructions, glue sticks, and a wood based polaroid album where our guests dutifully attached their photo with a short note- such a great souvenir from the evening!

Over all, our wedding went off without a hitch and I’m so proud of the efforts of all our friends & family that made the night so special and awesome for us, that I felt inclined to share it with other future brides who are in the midst of all the chaos, frustration, & excitement that comes with planning a wedding…

I have to admit I have a slight obsession with Ikea. Wedding bells and whistles instantly rang, quite literally, when I saw this new frame. The Ikea Tolsby frame costs 99 cents and is double sided, which makes for the perfect table number and menu stand. Carolynn from Two Brunettes designed a floral patterned border for you to type in your wedding menu or table numbers, or both if you would like. Made to fit Tolsby frames, just type in your menu or numbers (on Word, Photoshop, Illustrator, …), print and cut. The template is available in both .jpg and .pdf.

Billy balls, that is. It took me forever to find out these name of these adorable little flowers, but I can’t remember the last time I was so obsessed over a certain type of flower since succulents (who am I kidding, I still am). Now onto some serious eye candy overload!

Christine + Charles's Wedding

I had the chance to meet Christine, Charles and Abdi from 3 Photographers at the B-list meet up event and see their work. After a few minutes Christine told me she was a bride herself this past October and I could just picture a vintage modern wedding as we talked about vintage gowns. Her wedding was photographed by the another member of 3 Photographers, Abdi Aminlari.

An eBay treasure. Aren’t shoes the best wedding shoes you’ve seen in a while?

Christine’s vintage wedding dress was purchased at The Family Jewels, vintage boutique shop in New York.
