Industrial Meets Earthy Wedding Inspiration

Wedding Design

It’s so much fun to blend styles and design concepts for wedding editorials, and here we have another beauty to share from the lens of Gray Door Photography. It’s got equal parts modern and industrial mixed with the right amount of organic elements, and these ideas work so effortlessly together. We’re squealing over how Rustic Roots Design created the ideal arrangements for this styled shoot and put the emphasis on the foliage, allowing those dreamy, lavender and blush colored roses to peek through and add some romance. This indoors-meets-outdoors inspiration is so mesmerizing!

modern wedding ideas - photo by Gray Door Photography http://ruffledblog.com/industrial-meets-earthy-wedding-inspiration

From the photographer, Gray Door Photography: Providence, Rhode Island is known for the historic preservation of its mill buildings. With a team of local entrepreneur vendors working to bring our vision to life, this white-washed mill felt like the perfect place to bring earthy and industrial together. Our inspiration grew from our team’s fondness of intimate, thoughtful weddings, playful yet romantic details, and a serious love of texture. This shoot is for the bohemian bride who values those same things – down to the very last detail.

The watercolor invitation suite was hand torn, painted, and lettered. The headpieces, sash, and garter were all handmade to complement our gorgeous silk chiffon, organic cotton gown, which was also made here in America. Each piece of furniture is vintage or antique restored to preserve its beauty and character. Even the donuts in our pretty little donut tower were hand crafted by a local donut shop! The floral elements (composed of a variety of thistles, blackberry branches, bay leaf branches, queen anne’s lace, ranunculus, smoke bush, olive branches, succulents, and a few other blooms) were perfectly overgrown, bringing the outdoors in. We believe your wedding should reflect you and your love. This wedding inspiration shoot is for those brides and grooms whose love is true, sweet, romantic, playful, a little bit wild, and a little bit free.

Cupid’s Arrow Wedding Inspiration

Wedding Design

Photos by:

Jenna Henderson

Here’s a shoot featuring a lovely marriage between modern and industrial that we just can’t get enough of today. These colors have us all googly-eyed and feeling hopelessly romantic, while Jenna Henderson‘s chronicling of the day via photographs have us falling hard for this chic juxtaposition. Kennedy Occasions‘s lush floral arrangements do this shoot so much justice and they were the perfect, bright pop of pinks to accompany such a fun styled shoot.

valentine's day inspiration - photo by Jenna Henderson http://ruffledblog.com/cupids-arrow-wedding-inspiration

From the photographer and shoot designer, Jenna Henderson: We drew our inspiration from Cupid’s arrow, finding fun ways to sneak the arrow into our decor including an arrow through the bouquet, cake, and on the paper goods. We also loved the romance of the lush florals and rich colors, and to contrast the softness, we selected an urban industrial location and a chic Edison bulb lighting installment. The result is a romantic, intimate wedding full of industrial chic touches.

With such a fun lighting installment overhead, we totally welcome contrasting styles like this. Finding an industrial space for your wedding venue doesn’t mean that you have to go the modern route when it comes to style and design. Stick to your guns if you want to dress a contemporary space in sumptuous linens, dreamy centerpieces, and romantic elements. The huge plus about venues like this are that they tend to carry a very neutral color palette, so design it to your heart’s content.

Romantic Wedding Inspiration in an Old Textile Mill

Wedding Design

Photos by:

Charla Storey

First things first: today’s shoot has some beautiful photography by Charla Storey, no doubt about that. Secondly, we completely understand why Grit + Gold wanted to get first dibs on having an inspiration shoot in The BRIK on the verge of their grand opening. This place has such a lovely blend of industrial, modern, and vintage, and those wide open spaces are perfect for crafting whatever tablescape styles to your heart’s content. Which is exactly what they did! With superb floral work from Oh Deery, they transformed this textile mill-turned-epic wedding venue into a romantic spot, complete with a vintage-style wedding dress, gauzy fabrics on anything that would stay put, and yummy eats.

vintage wedding dresses - photo by Charla Storey http://ruffledblog.com/romantic-wedding-inspiration-in-an-old-textile-mill

From the wedding planner, Grit + Gold: When this team hears about a new venue on the brink of opening, what do we do? We pull a fab team together and christen the place. The BRIK, an old textile mill with raw wood floors, shabby white brick walls, and huge windows lends the perfect formula to create the most romantic of settings. I wanted to style several food displays in the shoot to really give the images living and breathing qualities rather than just perfectly staged displays. I wanted it to feel as though each image was interactive with the audience. Something that the person looking at it would relate to. Possibly the reminiscence of a grandmother or watching mom prepare a table at home with a great spread of food. Then taking those emotions and infusing them into a bride’s most important day.

Casey Brodley, Photographer

I’m not a traditional wedding photographer. My background and training is steeped in photo journalism, so that’s how I approach a wedding. My goal is to document the day, not stage it. I let moments unfold naturally, with minimal prom posing and minimal “say cheese” interference.

As a photo journalist, I come prepared for anything. Every wedding is different. I have witnessed full-grown men weep more times than I can count. I have seen smiles so wide that I’m concerned someone may burst a blood vessel. I have climbed mountains with all my gear. And this one time a sprinkler system was triggered during a ceremony.

As a wedding photographer, I walk into every job with the guarantee that I will witness pure joy. But more importantly, I walk into every job with the probability that my day will end with cake. I like to keep my cake-to-work ratio balanced. For health reasons.

Stylish Greenpoint Loft Wedding

Modern Weddings

Seeing weddings break the mold and step outside of the box is a lovely and welcome thing. When we get served up a dish of unique wedding details with a stunning couple to boot, it reinvigorates us. Abby and Jeremy not only brought the industrial style to their Brooklyn wedding; they incorporated one-of-a-kind wedding details and florals by Wyld that were snapped by Shannon and Elena for Amber Gress Photography that we absolutely adore.

modern wedding fashion - photos by Shannon Roddy and Elena Mudd for Amber Gress Photography http://ruffledblog.com/stylish-greenpoint-loft-wedding

From the bride, Abby: We knew that we wanted to get married in Brooklyn (where we met), but we wanted an unconventional event space. Something that felt like our experience of Brooklyn—artsy, approachable, maybe even a little gritty. When we stepped into The Greenpoint Loft we fell in love instantly. It was the perfect mix of urban and industrial with huge potential and freedom for anything we wanted to create. In all honesty, it just felt like a really cool yet unpretentious place where we could party hard with all our best buds.

Modern Industrial Atlanta Wedding

Modern Weddings

Photos by:

W&E Photographie

With a fun, warm-weathered fête like Taylor and Richard’s, it’s almost a no-brainer that hosting it at Summerour Studio would have been so ideal for their wedding style. W&E Photographie came along to photograph all of the darling simplicity in their decor, with Mary Mcleod of Amy Osaba Events in charge of the eye-catching blooms. Erin Stapelton from Stella Harper Events did such a fantastic job at keeping the whole event classic and relaxed!

Atlanta wedding venues - photo by W&E Photographie http://ruffledblog.com/modern-industrial-atlanta-wedding

From the photographers, W&E Photographie: Taylor and Richard’s springtime wedding was held at Summerour Studio in Atlanta. We love the mix of tuscan courtyard and industrial warehouse this venue brings to the table. We go way back with Taylor & Richard. They’ve been guests at so many of our past weddings, so it was only fitting that we finally get them in front of our cameras. Taylor & Richard combined some of Atlanta’s most talented vendors to complete their wedding day. For starters, the always lovely Mary from Amy Osaba Events killed with the florals and greenery and Taylor’s perfect, flowy gown came from, none other than, The Sentamentalist. Taylor & Richard made us the happiest photographers in the world, when they wanted to keep taking couple portraits in lieu of walking into their reception on time. It was a delightful and relaxed day ending with the happy couple being lifted up over the dance floor by their guests.

Industrial Greenhouse Wedding Ideas

Wedding Design

Photos by:

Milton Photography

We love when modern and vintage cross paths. Contrasting ideas always make such cool, funky, and lively shoots and this one snapped by Milton Photography is no different! Kismet & Clover brought together these ideas through the look and feel of antiquated romance meets urban styling. To keep the lines minimal but to also add more greenery for the greenhouse feel, Chickweed Cottage brought in cool potted greens and succulents, which always modernize a space without going overboard. And it must be mentioned: any time copper is used, we always have to take a second and third look.

copper wedding ideas - photo by Milton Photography http://ruffledblog.com/industrial-greenhouse-wedding-ideas

From the event designer, Kismet & Clover: The inspiration for this wedding shoot came from wanting to draw upon the romantic feel of a greenhouse while balancing it with the urban feel of an industrial interior. We love the look of an old farmhouse potting shed, but wanted to modernize it by softening the rustic with clean modern lines, copper, metallic undertones, and soft textures.

Australian Restaurant Wedding

Romantic Weddings

It’s a beautiful, beautiful thing when a gorgeous wedding has been infused with heaps of the bride and groom’s personality, and we were definitely delivered that when Lara Hotz Photography shared Sophie and Gavin’s big day in Sydney. These two brought together their loved ones in incredibly decorated venues with the assistance of Ashdown & Bee, who created a lovely environment that blended Aleksandra‘s botanical arrangements with the overall industrial feel of their ceremony and reception locations. This is an amazing planning story to read about, and the pictures are just as wonderful!

wedding reception decor - photo by Lara Hotz http://ruffledblog.com/australian-restaurant-wedding

From the bride, Sophie: So often a wedding is described as “the bride’s day.” Gavin and I wanted our wedding day to reflect both of our personalities in a celebration of love and joy with our nearest and dearest. Gavin and I have been together for seven years and were best friends for years before then. We used to (sub-consiously) give each other terrible dating advice, until we finally admitted we’d be better together than friends. Before we were even dating we’d explore Sydney together; visiting the latest hotspot restaurants, exhibitions at art museums, have drinks in the park on a beautiful day. We took inspiration from these pre-dating days and wanted to find a beautiful garden park ceremony and an intimate restaurant with interesting decor.

Romantic Elopement in Tehuacana

Wedding Design

This shoot is all about romance and industrial style meeting and creating a beautiful outcome. Jeff Brummett Visuals was the photographer in charge and he captured the most astonishing shots of this dramatic editorial. Using Grit + Gold‘s planning and design skills and the creative floral handiwork by Something Pretty Floral, this antiquated school turned into an edgy and exciting backdrop. It was decorated in deep reds, snaking vines, and fine touches of gold for a slight pop for the eyes. The flowers were beautifully moody in the darkest reds and pinks imaginable. To break up the dramatic color palettes for the florals, sweet blush pink blooms were incorporated in. If you’re looking for wedding inspiration with darker tones and a slight Victorian feel, this shoot is definitely it!

red wedding details - photo by Jeff Brummett Visuals http://ruffledblog.com/romantic-elopement-in-tehuacana

From the event designer, Grit + Gold: Our design lends towards a dramatic and romantic elopement somewhere in Texas. The backdrop is an old school built in late 1800’s which now brings many artists from all over who admire capturing its beautiful ornate architecture and patina’d walls. Our bride’s boudoir look was a simple lace silk slip and layered tulle skirt. She changed later for a Rachel Zoe lace dress in black. Simple details like trellising greenery and heavy candlelight give off the sense of romance.

Fuchsia Industrial Wedding Inspiration

Wedding Design

What do you get when you combine industrial style with a prominent fuchsia palette? An inspiration shoot from Marisa Belle Photography that has us amazed. After getting inspired from a hardware store trip, Marisa thought of an idea of printing wedding invitations on sheet metal, and the rest is history. The entire team pulled together contrasting ideas of vintage and modern through style and lush flowers from The Wildflower AZ, crafting a shoot that will feed your whimsical-loving side while also breathing life into your minimalistic and contemporary side!

modern wedding invitations - photo by Marisa Belle Photography http://ruffledblog.com/fuchsia-industrial-wedding-inspiration

From the photographer, Marisa Belle Photography: This shoot was inspired during a trip to Home Depot of all places. I was looking for new knobs for my cabinets and wandered into the sheet metal section of the store. I was attracted to the dark, oily color of the sheet metal and wondered, “What would a wedding invitation look like on sheet metal?” I got with my favorite calligrapher Jenna Underwood of Paper and Posies Designs and she created the stunning invitation suite incorporating a leather envelope, escort cards, and copper napkin rings and this shoot was born!

Urban Garden Party Wedding

Wedding Design

Set in an industrial space and shot by the uber-talented Emily Sacco Photography, today’s shoot has me falling in love with how Revel+Bloom and Sweet Pea Flowers dressed up Moss Denver. While the space itself is edgy and urban, the look is contrasted with lush greenery and flickering candles sprawling all over that sweetheart table, seemingly-endless moss walls, and a swing bedecked in vines snaking all over the ropes. Kudos to the vendor team for bringing such a creative idea to life!

urban garden party wedding - photo by Emily Sacco Photography http://ruffledblog.com/urban-garden-party-wedding

From the event designer and planner, Revel+Bloom: In our shoot, we are featuring two custom built 16′ moss walls, garden-inspired swing, overgrown and raw sweetheart table design, an intimate and minimal ceremony space, and gravity-defying dessert display. The shoot was styled as “urban garden party” and we worked very hard to keep things original, inventive, and cutting-edge. The final product is very high-end and couture inspired. I really believe that readers will resonate with and be inspired by the work we’ve produced for this shoot!

Lush Woodland Inspired Dinner Party

Wedding Design

Who says you can’t bring the outdoors inside? Calluna Events recently held a staff party, and took it as the perfect opportunity to create an inspiring tablescape full of moss and elements of greenery for a lush look we can’t resist. Thank you, of course, to James Christianson Photography for capturing it all!

lush woodland inspired dinner party - photo by James Christianson Photography http://ruffledblog.com/lush-woodland-inspired-dinner-party

From the event planners, Calluna Events: As a wedding planner I’m constantly dreaming up inspiration shoots and thinking outside of the box for my next design. Planning our staff holiday party was no exception to this. Our entire team works so hard all year long that when it came to celebrating the holidays I wanted to do something completely unexpected and blow them away in the process. The inspiration for this dinner party came from my desire to create a party, just like the ones we create all year long, only where they were the guests of honor.

Modern Botanical Wedding Inspiration

Wedding Design

The team behind today’s shoot, which includes Keira Lemonis Photography, Mary Elise Rees Event Design, and Dark + Diamond, was inspired by their invitation suite to create an urban greenhouse styled wedding. Then came lush greenery, shades of pink and purple, and a real-life couple so adorable our hearts just might explode!

modern botanical wedding inspiration - photo by Keira Lemonis Photography http://ruffledblog.com/modern-botanical-wedding-inspiration

From the even designer, Mary Elise Rees Event Design: Initially inspired by the invitation suite, “Artfully Ever After” from Wedding Paper Divas, I wanted to create a story around something lighthearted and modern. We also wanted to create a sort of urban greenhouse vibe that would be fun for couples getting married in the spring or summertime. We found the Lucas Confectionery in downtown Troy, which has a back-enclosed garden patio, complete with a glass rooftop. This venue lets in tons of natural light and has funky greens growing within its brick walls. Dark and Diamond created florals based around our greenhouse theme, as well as the fun color palette on the invitation. There is also an array of unique air plants scattered about the venue.

From the photographer, Angela of Photography by Angela Tucker: Our inspiration for this shoot started with this gorgeous BHLDN dress. From there, our event designer from Social 10 Events, made this shoot beautifully boho, the perfect fit for our urban/industrial location. The table settings were true eye-candy with florals provided by Springvine Design. Deedie from Springvine Design and Mandi from Social 10 came together and created a beautiful ceremony backdrop for inside the event space. This backdrop on the exposed rustic brick paired with our couple made for an amazing look. Our cake fit perfectly with the style of our shoot with a gold water color effect. I shot it under a brick archway with the most beautiful light coming in. Everything about this styled shoot would offer an incredible amount of inspiration to any bride. We had so many talented vendors involved in this shoot. The best in the business. We could not be more pleased with the final product.

Romantic Bohemian Wedding Ideas

Wedding Design

This styled shoot from FreeHope Photography, Danielle Mitchell Events, and Floral Designs by Christa Rose has a bit of it all — a bohemian ceremony, an industrial reception, and serious romance tying everything together. Who knew a zinc table could look so incredibly chic?

romantic-bohemian-wedding-ideas - photo by FreeHope Photography http://ruffledblog.com/romantic-bohemian-wedding-ideas

From the photographer, FreeHope Photography: This collaboration was inspired by a rich autumn palette and a vision of eclectic vintage meets industrial, city life. We’ve incorporated a subtle elegant look of watercolor details, handmade touches in the large macrame backdrop, and indie flair with mismatched rugs lining the aisle. The simple glow of candles on the zinc top tables and against the red brick wall brought an effortless air of romance to the whole space.

Fall in Los Angeles doesn’t always lend the coolest weather, however we were lucky enough to have a cool day. The sun broke through the clouds at the perfect time for the couple to have an intimate moment on the rooftop, giving us incredible views of the LA skyline and even better photos.

Earthy Industrial Bohemian Wedding Inspiration

Wedding Design

Folks, this next shoot is just about as cool as it gets. The all-star team — which includes talented vendors such as Monika Gauthier Photography & Design, Glitz Events, Tufted Vintage Rentals, Florist Fire, and Citrus Press Co, just to name a few — put together a delectably textured shoot inspired by nature and bohemian styling. This is one you won’t want to miss!

From Tufted Vintage Rentals: This editorial was designed to encapsulate our organic interpretation of the bohemian style. Conceptualized by Glitz Events, Tufted Vintage Rentals and Citrus Press Co, we focused on a natural, earthy aesthetic and the healing powers of metaphysical elements to create a neutral, yet moody shoot with some edgier moments throughout. Inspired by materials from nature, our team sought to feature soft textures of macramé, lace and wool juxtaposed with raw, earthy elements of wood, stones and crystals.

The raw backdrop of the Rialto theatre, a 1920s theatre with original exposed brick walls and one stellar arch, was the perfect setting. We even incorporated industrial letters from the buildings original signage. Floral arrangements focused on neutral toned flowers paired with earthy and natural elements such as fungi pods and air plants mixed with greenery including seeded eucalyptus and plumose for texture. Air plant terrariums with gemstone accents were sprinkled throughout the shoot. The bouquet featured one large tillandsia air plant with dried fungi, greenery and dusty miller.

When creating the tablescape we layered textures of lace with fringe placemats and paired the soft elements with warm wood tones and edgy black accents. Air plants, greenery, wheat and cattails were arranged in mismatched clear glass vessels. We decided to use mismatched flatware in mixed tones of silver, wood and gold. Pieces of agate and stone place card holders tied in our rock and crystal theme. Wicker and wood chairs warmed up the sterile feel of the industrial chairs. Unique aspects of our editorial include the ode to metaphysical healing powers. We created a favor station featuring healing crystals that complimented our color scheme. We also incorporated incense as well as a sage smudge, which is an ancient practice used to attract positive energy. To take advantage of Rialto’s expansive space and cozy corners, we created a ceremony with a hand-made macramé backdrop as well as a lounge to showcase unique vintage pieces in wicker and Mexican equipales chairs.

Industrial Wedding at a Metalworking Studio

Modern Weddings

We love that today’s couple knew their venue, Gutierrez Studios, would be the perfect fit for their wedding day because it captured both of their spirits individually — analytic industrialism for the groom, and a blank creative canvas for the bride. Lindsay Hite of READYLUCK and The Vanlandingham Design Studio were the chosen pros to be by their side for the big day, making their vision come to reality with startling clarity and a clear focus on modern design in an industrial setting.

From the bride, Brittany: Greg and I have known each other since elementary school and are living proof that opposites attract. We really wanted a day that would celebrate how much we love one another and how fortunate we are to have so many amazing family and friends. It is so rare and special to have all of the people you love together in one place at the same time. We instantly fell in love with Gutierrez Studios, a working metal studio in Baltimore’s Clipper Mill. The amazing artistry and historic industrial setting seemed like the perfect allegory for Greg’s analytical personality and my creative spirit. The studio is not a traditional event space and we were so thankful to work with Drew at The Vanlandingham Design Studio. He came highly recommended and was without a doubt crucial to making our wedding dream a reality. He really got to know us and translated our personalities along with our rustic and industrial vision into the most meaningful and magical day we could dream of. We worked with fantastic professionals throughout the entire process and with Drew by our side, we didn’t have to worry about a single thing.

Greg gave me a beautiful bracelet along with sweet and silly card. When I opened the card there was also a photo of us taken at our senior prom. The edges were tattered and the photo image was almost peeling away from the plastic backing. I instantly recognized the image and soon realized that he had been carrying this photo in his wallet every day for the past 11 years. Thinking about all of the amazing moments we had shared and all of the memories we still have to make together was definitely one of the most memorable parts of the day.

My dress included a patch sewn into the lining that was made from pieces of family members clothing including my mother’s wedding dress, Greg’s aunt, grandmother, and mother’s wedding dresses, my grandmother’s painting smock, and my grandfather’s apron. It was a special way to feel connected to all of our loved ones. We were very excited to give Daruma Dolls as favors to all of our guests. A daruma doll is a traditional Japanese doll seen as a symbol of perseverance and good luck. When someone receives a daruma doll it has two blank eyes. The recipient fills in one eye upon setting a goal or making a wish, then the other eye once it is fulfilled. Greg’s Bachan, Japanese grandmother, passed down the tradition to her family and we wanted to share it with all of our guests as a special token of thanks and good fortune. We hope all of their wishes come true!

Annabel Lee Wedding Inspiration

Wedding Design

As Halloween draws nearer, what could provide better inspiration than Edgar Allen Poe’s “Annabel Lee?” Tulip + Rose Photography and asrai garden are the creative minds behind this shoot inspired by one of Poe’s most famous works, and they filled the dreamy shoot with gobs of grey, black, and muted blues, setting the mood perfectly for a chic Halloween.

grey invitation envelope - photo by Tulip and Rose Photography http://ruffledblog.com/annabel-lee-wedding-inspiration

From the photographer, Tulip + Rose Photography: As lovers of all things romantic and the Halloween holiday, we have always wanted to do a dreamy wedding inspiration that played to both. We drew our inspiration from Edgar Allan Poe’s poem, “Annabel Lee;” which is a story of lovelorn romance set at a kingdom by the sea that ultimately ends in tender tragedy. Steelwork Park, which is actually the ruins of the old US Steelworks in Chicago, is set right on Lake Michigan and made for the perfect kingdom by the sea. Chicago Vintage Rentals provided the antique table and chairs and the elegant place settings which were integral to our vision. The tablescape was completed with a graceful runner by Silk & Willow and delicate shells and driftwood from Asrai Gardens.

The florals, expertly crafted by Elizabeth Cronin of Asrai Gardens, were an amazing array of blooms many of which were sourced locally. The lush bouquet and centerpiece boasted an amazing architecture as the greenery and flowers delicately cascaded in a purposefully haphazard way – creating stunning artistic movement that mimicked the waves of the sea. Luscious Silk and Willow ribbon was tied around the stems of the bouquet to add even more romantic appeal. Jessica from Boho Ink‘s modern aesthetic merged with classic calligraphy techniques to create this incredible invitation suite. We simply couldn’t stop swooning over her attention to detail in every aspect of the design – from the paper to her intricately constructed words to the overall composition of the each piece – she truly creates works of art. While Edgar Allan Poe is traditionally rather macabre, this poem bears a slight deviation – incorporating unending love in the face of impending doom.

Industrial Maroon Wedding Inspiration

Wedding Design

We’ve seen tons of great industrial wedding inspiration with neutral color palettes and metallic accents, but we think today’s shoot truly shines using an industrial background with a heavy dose of bright, cheerful colors. Andi Mans of AM Weddings was the mastermind behind the camera, flowers, styling, and coordination here, and her vision is absolute perfection. The colors used in the bouquet alone are some of our for-sure favorites for summer!

industrial maroon wedding inspiration - photo by AM Weddings http://ruffledblog.com/industrial-maroon-wedding-inspiration

From the photographer and stylist, AM Weddings: I wanted a vibe of boldness for this shoot, with so much light and pastel colors going on during the summer I felt a pop of color and even bold palette against natural light would work so beautifully together. Industrial with a touch of modern and vintage! What better place to capture this at the popular coffee shop/gallery off Mills, Propagation, in Orlando, Florida.

I always tell my brides to not be afraid of trying something new, not only does it make your event unique but for photos, it comes out like eye candy! Andi Mans Weddings designed, coordinated, captured and did floral for this wedding inspiration. Enjoy — we did!

Colorful Industrial Wedding Shoot

Wedding Design

Today we’re heading down to sunny Florida for some bright and cheery wedding inspiration, this time with an industrial chic style. Andi Diamond Photography, Winsor Event Studio, and Belle Fleur Studio. Everything was topped off beautifully with a rock-n-roll bride with bright blue hair and serious pin-up style.

colorful industrial chic wedding shoot - photo by Andi Diamond http://ruffledblog.com/colorful-industrial-chic-wedding-shoot

From the photographer, Andi Diamond: We are so excited to share our Ybor City State Museum stylized wedding shoot. The overall theme was industrial- chic meets craft brew. The Ybor City State Museum was the perfect location with its white brick and cobblestones. This city landmark has been preserved from times when people would meet and play dominoes and it perfectly embodied the craft brew concept; Ybor is known for having a big craft brew presence. Our theme also gives a nod to the growing trends for craft cocktails and for the younger brides and grooms who have an alternative style. Our lovely bride, JoHannah, was the perfect fit for this alternative-glam theme. She is elegant with an edge (don’t you just love the tattoos and BLUE hair!?). Her rock ‘n’ roll meets pin-up inspired look dazzled in front of the camera. She was a natural! Her real life beau, Terence, was also a rockstar that day! Don’t let this tough guy fool you, he is one big (hello, muscles!) teddy bear! I loved being able to work with a real couple, and a gorgeous, tattooed one at that! They had no problems loving, touching, and giggling with each other!

For decor, we incorporated lots of metallic: aluminum, copper, and bronze. Industrial details like metal orbs in centerpiece; wood and galvanized chargers were also used. Our craft brew table had growlers (each growler had a slate sign with beer names) with different styles of brew as well as tasting for bride and groom to sample. Christi created a sign that said “BREW” that was made with bottle caps. All items were set on a pallet table and a display of pint glasses and vintage amber beer bottles and flowers were used as accents. The cake display was achieved with the use of filing drawers accented with flora. The stands of metal tubing was meant to resemble a keg.Our tablescape featured various vintage wooden chairs, a crushed metallic linen, stacked chargers made of wood and galvanized chargers, topped with bisque china and hem stitched napkins. Each table setting was accented with vintage mis-matched gold flat wear and fig colored glass wear. The menu display was a painted binder clip, secured to a metal roofing shingle. The table number was suspended above with the light instillation of Edison bulbs and metal baskets. The bride’s bouquet was aimed for the more alternative style – roses, ferns, orchids, ranunculus, and brewers wheat gave life and vibrant color to the shoot .We adored Terence’s indie-hipsteresque look! He donned a carved wood bowtie, suspenders, and of course some awesome tats! JoHannah wore a rock ‘n’ roll/Bettie Page inspired wedding gown. It featured a corset top and exposed boning- very vintage pin-up style!”

Neo-Vintage Industrial Wedding

Wedding Design

Photos by:

Mirabel Photography

For their recent styled wedding shoot, a team consisting of Mirabel Photography, Fleur de Lis Event Consulting, and Ella Floral Event Design put together this industrial inspiration session with a bit of a neo-vintage twist. Light bulbs were the star of the show, playing on a “you light up my life” theme — how cute is that?!

Neo-Vintage Industrial Wedding - photo by Mirabel Photography http://ruffledblog.com/neo-vintage-industrial-wedding

From the event designer, Valerie of Fleur de Lis Event Consulting: Have you ever fallen for someone so deeply just the thought of them lights you up? This unbelievable feeling was the inspiration behind this styled editorial shoot: You Light Up My Life. Throughout this neo-vintage industrial shoot various types of light bulbs make a notable appearance. The “light of my life” cake topper was constructed from different watt light bulbs and a calligrapher’s talented hand. The decanter stoppers, martini sticks and even the light bulb place cards all fall in line with the theme.

A color palette of creamy whites with bronze accents made the perfect combination for this elegant modern yet retro design. As we have all learned from fashion- trends always resurface, but often take on a whole new look. You can see this twist in the acrylic Chiavari chairs, lace bridal gown with sleeves, the modern decanters and custom handwritten invitations. Look at the lush tablescape and candle filled stairwell; every detail of this shoot shines bright!

Modern Industrial Wedding Editorial

Today’s styled shoot has a look that’s sure to please both brides and grooms, fusing feminine and masculine design concepts into one cohesive event. Heart and Sparrow, J’Adore Décor Styling + Event Planning, and Willow & Whimsy put together a blend of modern and organic styles set in an industrial space for a wedding theme that’s sure to be timeless!

modern industrial wedding editorial - photo by Heart and Sparrow http://ruffledblog.com/modern-industrial-wedding-editorial

From the photographer, Natalie of Heart and Sparrow: The inspiration behind our photoshoot came from our backdrop – The HQ sits in one of the oldest neighbourhoods in Calgary, in a former factory turned creative space. We wanted to juxtapose the modern, industrial architecture with an overall romantic feel. At the same time, it was also really important to infuse the shoot with masculine elements while at the same time maintaining a softness and femininity.

It’s very easy for brides to envision a look for their wedding that is very feminine – this shoot definitely has a color palette (greenery, dark woods, blacks, pops of marsala) and design elements (scotch bar) that gravitate towards the masculine. I think this shoot is a great balance between both.

Nordic Industrial Wedding Inspiration

Wedding Design

What could be better than building wedding inspiration from a completely clean slate? Danfredo Photos + Films and Kate Farley Design put together this styled shoot with industrial white brick walls and a keen eye for modern organic style that inspires us for wedding decor as much as it does for our homes!

Nordic industrial wedding inspiration - photo by Danfredo Photos + Film http://ruffledblog.com/nordic-industrial-wedding-inspiration

From the event designer, Kate of Kate Farley Design: The style direction for the sweetheart table design borrowed heavily from my own personal home style. Having a busy life, I strive for simplicity, minimalism and functionality in my every day life which is what Scandinavian design is all about. Danielle of Danfredo Photos + Films was just a perfect match when looking for a photographer because she has the same design style in her own home, so we paired up to make an awesome team. Keeping true to the aesthetic, we created a tablescape that incorporated loads of natural elements such as wood, leather, wool, copper, marble, antlers and skulls, metal, furs, hides and natural greens.

We chose Maggpie Vintage Rentals’ White Whitman table for its sleek design and light color combination of natural wood and white metal legs. The white Lincoln chairs were a perfect match to the clean lines of the table. The rest was a careful curation of items from our own personal homes and Maggpie’s amazing collection. Rather than having an over the top design laden with florals, we decided to take the word sweetheart table literally and create a centerpiece with an assortment of miniature cakes made by Saylormade for a minimalist and functional tablescape. The textural cakes were topped greens such as jasmine vine and button ferns placed atop marble cake stands and slabs. We used square marble chargers, rose gold flatware and copper moscow mules for the table setting and added a small copper pot filled with ferns which created a beautiful contrast on top of the light natural wood top of the table.

Because it’s the sweetheart table, where the bride and groom sit, we executed a design that utilized the entire area, rather than just the table to express the significance of the table. We created a backdrop of wool yarn in white and cream colors, strung from a copper pole. We softened up the lines with a lush green garland. To counterbalance the garland, we brought a styling to the bottom left corner using Maggpie’s leather pouf, plants, candles, skulls, the wedding date in vintage metal numbers and placed the table number in a simple white frame designed by Papertree Studio.

Lovely Bride provided a gorgeously sleek and sexy Nicole Miller gown that was perfectly simple with a touch of adornment with small gems at the bust line. The shoes were nude, the hair and make up done by Sulimay’s Urban Salon was kept clean, yet sexy for understated sophistication. The bridal bouquet only utilized orchids, jasmine vines, plumosa vines and white tulips. Keeping the recipe simple in number of items holds true to the Scandinavian style with an added organic flair with a cascade of soft vines to keep the lines of the bride from getting too stark. The gown’s deep v neck design speaks volumes by itself, so we selected a gorgeous copper bracelet design by Brooke at West Village Tribe.

Modern Industrial Romance Wedding Ideas

Wedding Design

Few things are better than building off of an all-white color palette. Katie Nesbitt Photography and Dear Sweetheart Events used the stark white walls, white wedding cake, and black and white wedding invitations as the foundation for their styled modern industrial wedding shoot, and then added in touches of orange, red, peach, gold, and green to add a bit of pizazz.

Modern Industrial Romance Wedding Ideas - photo by Katie Nesbitt Photography http://ruffledblog.com/modern-industrial-romance-wedding-ideas

From the photographer, Katie Nesbitt: Kat Schmoyer of Dear Sweetheart Events and I teamed up to create a themed styled shoot for a workshop I hosted over the summer for wedding photographers. The theme was Modern Industrial Romance! We wanted to bring in industrial elements and mix them with soft, romantic and natural pieces to create a wedding that felt really unique for a Virginian bride. The shoot turned out to be very romantic, pretty, and also playful and sweet! I loved how Kat used driftwood and antlers on the table to create a show stopping centerpiece!

Soho Wedding with Modern and Industrial Touches

Modern Weddings

Photos by:

Chaz Cruz

Kate and Steve met nearly 15 years ago in a school play, and after years of dating, time apart, and reconciliation, Steve asked Kate to be his bride. The couple moved from San Francisco to New York City and married each other in the heart of Soho, where their modern-meets-industrial wedding wowed us all. Thank you to the incredible team of Chaz Cruz, Michelle Elaine Weddings Inc., and 2h flowers for putting this together!

Soho Wedding with Modern and Industrial Touches - photo by Chaz Cruz http://ruffledblog.com/soho-wedding-with-modern-and-industrial-touches

From the event designer, Michelle of Michelle Elaine Weddings Inc.: Meeting at their high school play, almost 15 years ago, Kate & Steve never imagined they’d end up getting married to one another. Two years after that inevitable meeting was their first date. While Kate thought Steve was a great guy, she had living to do, college, traveling, adventures; marriage was certainly not on her mind. Four years quickly passed by and fate brought Kate & Steve together again, reconnecting while in Edinburgh, Scotland. This was when they began to realize perhaps this is something greater. Not long after, Kate joined Steve in San Francisco to live together. June 2012, Steve got down on one knee and asked Kate to marry him. Later that year they were off to New York City and decided that this must be where they start the next big chapter in their lives together.

They are probably one of the most unique couples I have ever worked with. Rather than a “first look,” Steve hung out in the hotel suite as Kate got hair & make up done. He showed her the shoes he had bought earlier that day and they were like two perfect peas in a pod just living another happy day together. The décor and aesthetic were created with a mix of the wonderful history they share from their one of a kind save the date to inspiring ideas from other weddings and of course Pinterest! We worked together to create a modern and industrial vibe with clean lines on the tables and gold and silver spray painted dinosaurs as number holders, all while keeping some softness for the wedding with lush white peonies and some greenery for accents as centerpieces down the long, wooden family style tables. The restaurant had it’s own characteristics to work off of & helped pull our design ideas together as one.

The look & feel was to say “New York!” with a touch of Kate & Steve. Though it really said “Kate & Steve!” with a touch of New York. Their personal fashions coordinated more perfectly than imagined & they had a bit of that Mad Men style. Steve’s suit was custom made while Kate changed her mind last minute and thankfully we found the perfect gown just six weeks before the day! Kate & Steve are most certainly one of a kind and I believe they prefer it that way, because they are definitely one of a kind for each other.

Glam Wedding in a Warehouse

Elegant Weddings

“Elegant with an unexpected twist of industrial” is exactly how we would describe this wedding from Mallory + Justin Photographers. Raquel and Steve wanted a memorable wedding day in a warehouse space, and they found the ideal venue in Cleveland’s Lake Erie Building. Of course, the day wouldn’t have been complete without the floral designs from Plantscaping!

Glam Wedding in a Warehouse - photo by Mallory and Justin Photographers http://ruffledblog.com/glam-wedding-in-a-cleveland-warehouse

From the bride, Raquel: We wanted to make sure that the wedding felt very us, and not go overboard in too many details to make sure it was just for us (which Steve was really good at making sure I didn’t get too carried away!). We had recently moved back to Cleveland from Manhattan and we both really love the industrial look (think Houston Hall in West Village). We had looked around at a lot of warehouse space in Cleveland and had found out about the Lake Erie Building and we both loved it! The color scheme we had in mind was navy blue, dark grey and a pale bluish-grey.. colors that we both love. Plus in the reception place, the Lake Erie Building, at night the windows at night had the perfect colors of blue that really made it look special inside without a lot of up lighting. For the DIYs, we had a lot of help from our families. My father and uncles hung all the lights for the reception and made the Edison bulb fixture for above our head table. We made the light up BAR and R&S signs. We made the chalkboard with the seating chart and I wrote out all the names, as well as all the names on the place cards on the champagne bottles.

Wedding Music:
For the ceremony we just chose the classic processional and recessional songs.
Bridal Party Entrance: “Safe and Sound,” Capital Cities
Cake Cutting: “Ho Hey,” The Lumineers
First Dance: “Below My Feet,” Mumford and Sons

From the photographers, Mallory + Justin Photographers: I’m submitting a gorgeous Cleveland, Ohio warehouse wedding we photographed a few weeks ago that had some memorable details. The details were elegant and personal featuring some owned and reclaimed items that made the warehouse sparkle. The bride, Raquel brought elements from her own home to create a comfortable space. The warehouse was adorned with vintage furniture, wine barrels, a giant handwritten chalk board seating chart and even a real street postbox to collect cards. Most of the table details were handmade by the bride. Raquel + Steve met in college, got engaged while living in Manhattan and had their wedding in downtown Cleveland, they’re a gorgeous couple with an elegant, timeless style… with a little bit of flair and edge.

Basilica Hudson Wedding

Romantic Weddings

Photos by:

Flora + Fauna

Photographer Jenn of Flora + Fauna says Betsy and Travis’ wedding stole her heart, and after seeing the images, we have to say it’s stealing our hearts as well. New York’s Basilica Hudson provided the ideal industrial backdrop for the newlyweds’ big day, which was decorated to the nines thanks to Betsy’s creativity and the help of The Pollen Project.

Basilica Hudson wedding - photo by Flora and Fauna http://ruffledblog.com/basilica-hudson-wedding

From the bride, Betsy: We envisioned a day that was industrial, utilitarian, simple, clean, and beautiful. Our colors were neutrals with pops of metallics and the natural green colors from the herbs and the trees. I make displays for Anthropologie and Travis and I met while we were in art school, so I think people expected me to go all out with wedding projects, but we kept it pretty simple! We made our seating chart with strings so everyone could follow a string to their table number, we hand cut our table numbers, we created a fabric menu that we hung in the space, and we created a tag and brewed little bottles of cold brew coffee from the coffee company Travis works for, Rook.

Front & Palmer Philadelphia Wedding

Elegant Weddings

Photos by:

Emily Wren

“We wanted our wedding to blend together the heavy industrial, urban feel of Philadelphia with the softer, botanical aspects of the outdoors.” So says the bride from today’s wedding, Samantha, about her vision for her celebration with beau Brian, and her words were music to our ears. Thanks to the lovely Emily Wren, Feast Your Eyes Catering, and Leaves of Grass Floral Design for pulling out all the stops!

Front & Palmer Philadelphia wedding - photo by Emily Wren http://ruffledblog.com/front-palmer-philadelphia-wedding

From the bride, Samantha: We wanted our wedding to blend together the heavy industrial, urban feel of Philadelphia with the softer, botanical aspects of the outdoors. The venue we found – Front and Palmer – did most of the work for us, being an industrial conversion; the other half of the work was provided by the florist, Amy Young of Leaves of Grass. The end result felt like nature had crept into this old historic space and the two styles had become symbiotic over the years. Clearly I was obsessed with the look! I have Master’s degrees in Urban Planning and also in Historic Preservation and these interests pretty closely match my style in most other respects. So the idea was to bring together harsh and soft, strong and faint, dark and light. I feel like it worked.

One of the most important ideas for the wedding was to make sure everyone felt included. Brian and I are different religions and from very different family backgrounds, but we didn’t want guests to feel alienated by it being too much of side of the family than the other. So we really tried to create a neutral environment that anyone, regardless of religion or income or background, could find comfort in. It made our wedding less traditional, but in a sense it was totally us, and how our lives have come together. We didn’t have a theme or a color scheme, just a sense of working with the tones and textures of the space and keeping our own additions more muted. So the suits and bridesmaid dresses were a beautiful, rich gray tone that matched the steel beams of the venue. The flowers were softer blues, greens, and beige tones. My dress was an ivory that wouldn’t create too sharp a contrast with the darker hues. The florist suspended branches, vines, and candles from the beams and created a “floating” Chuppah that was also suspended from the beams. It was genius the way the florist incorporated the natural elements into the space – I may have had the initial vision, but she make it happen miles beyond what I imagined.

As much as I wanted to DIY everything, finishing my thesis took precedence so I kept my involvement down. I did make the party favors that also served as the escort cards – soy wax candles in tins that were either vanilla, lavender, or grapefruit. The labels were ordered from the Evermine and I made the kraft paper guest tags that hung from them. My sister found a perfect chalkboard with a gray wood frame and sketched out of the whole menu, and also made little signs for our signature cocktail (the Liberty Bell-ini… cheesy I know, but what’s a wedding without a bad pun here and there?). And the guest book was a small side project as well. I found an antique writing desk at a vintage store and just had to use it somehow, so what I did was create postcards for the guests leave messages. I pulled historical images of present day important spots from our relationship (first meeting, first date, first apartment, etc.) and made those the postcard covers.

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? I made myself a promise that I would not allow myself to get worked up over details of the wedding, but I didn’t expect how worked up other people (extended family, random friends, etc.) would get about our wedding planning! Because I didn’t anticipate that and kind of prepare for it, I got really swept away at times in other people’s stresses about our wedding. I know it sounds crazy, but my advice for brides would be let other people’s expectations roll off their backs. So what if my dress is delayed, or that the groom saw pictures of me in it prior to the wedding day? You don’t like grapefruit scented candles? OH WELL. Stick to your own feelings about the situation and don’t be swayed by others’ input. In the end, its about you and the groom celebrating your future, and creating a party for loved ones and friends. They’ll love it no matter what, so why let their input bog you down during planning?!

Wedding Music:
Bridal Party Processional: “Bonfire Heart,” James Blunt
Bridal Processional: “Can’t Help Falling In Love,” Ingrid Michaelson
Recessional: “Ho Hey,” Lumineers

From the photographer, Emily Wren: Sam and Brian’s wedding at Front and Palmer on September 6th, 2014 brought together an edgy urban setting and whimsical details. As an urban planner, Sam wanted to include some of the best views Philadelphia has to offer: the Race Street Pier, Ben Franklin Bridge, and Spruce Street Harbor Park. This affection for urban life offered edgy backdrops for the couple’s first look as well as photos with the wedding party, friends, and family. Sam’s dress, by Sarah Seven from Lovely Bride Philly, served as a juxtaposition to the edgy, urban feel of Front and Palmer and Philadelphia. Her dress and bouquet gave a soft, feminine feel to the urban backdrops she chose. Amy Young of Leaves of Grass designed a lighted canopy for the ceremony, including branches, ivy, and assorted flowers and lanterns which set the tone for the table settings and other floral details, and carried the same magical feeling throughout the evening.

Stylish Green Building Wedding

Modern Weddings

Time and again, The Green Building has proven itself to be one of our favorite wedding venues. How can we possibly resist its easy blend of industrial and romantic styles? Clean Plate Pictures was recently there to capture the wedding of Jen and Rob, whose wedding was decked out to stylish amazingness by Whimsy Weddings and Molly Oliver Flowers.

Stylish Green Building Wedding - photo by Clean Plate Pictures http://ruffledblog.com/stylish-green-building-wedding

From the bride, Jen: We’re not a couple who likes a lot of attention and fluff, so we wanted our wedding to feel fun and modern. In terms of style, we like a mix of minimalism with graphic colorful pops. We are also obsessed with food and it is a huge part of our relationship, so we wanted to make it the “theme” of our wedding. We were inspired by Smorgasburg, which incorporates a lot of our favorite things: cool people, hip location in Brooklyn, and the ability to feast on a variety of different things. I think we ticked off all those things!

Barber Shop Anniversary Shoot

Wedding Design

Whenever we have the chance to see an anniversary session from a couple we’ve featured in the past, I’m utterly beside myself. Taryn and Justin’s anniversary session was just as stylish as their own wedding, thanks to the help of Twinkle & Toast, Danielle Ehrlich of Francine Ribeau Events, Penny Blooms, and of course Melissa Biador Photography.

From the bride, Taryn of Twinkle & Toast: The inspiration for our anniversary shoot was the idea of “what a difference a year makes.” Like many couples, my husband and I have had our fair share of obstacles this past year. I loved the idea of seeing the same couple and the same wedding dress in a whole new light to reflect the challenges we’ve faced, but our love has gotten even stronger through it all.

Our wedding was full vibrant feminine colors and gold, an aesthetic I tend to gravitate toward. I wanted this shoot to be the opposite and play up darker colors and masculine details. Mister Brown’s allowed us to use their incredible barber shop, the new go-to place for grooms and groomsmen to get ready at in San Diego. The talented Melissa Biador captured this dark and dapper setting perfectly. Desiree from Penny Blooms created lush arrangements and garlands with flowing greenery and Witty Rentals completed the look with their fantastic mid-century style handmade furniture items and woodsy details.

Our team of vendors worked together to bring this vision to life and this shoot was truly so special to the two of us. I recommend all couples do a first anniversary session. I jumped at the chance to wear my beloved BHLDN dress again and it was an exciting opportunity to document how we’ve grown in just a year. One year down and looking forward to more memories and milestones with him!

From Melissa of Melissa Biador Photography: Anniversary shoots are my absolute favorite. Normally I would be photographing my clients for the third time (after the engagement session and wedding day) and seeing them again always makes me really excited. I have photographed anniversary sessions before, but photographing Taryn and Justin was completely new for me, as I’ve never photographed them before. The experience shooting a new couple in a new environment was humbling experience as a photographer. Anniversary sessions are more laid-back, stress free and the main focus is the love between the couple. Brides chose their dress for a reason and why not wear it again a year later? I love Taryn’s modern BHLDN dress and mixed it up with some combat boots. Just as Taryn and Justin did for their session, you can make everything completely different from what you had at your wedding. It is the opportunity to get creative, do the things you couldn’t really do (or get to do) during your wedding day. As their photographer, it was such a fun opportunity to work with a different team of talented vendors and to photograph a milestone for Taryn and Justin. I would highly recommend couples to have an anniversary session, whether it is a one-year or 5 year… it’s just another opportunity to have more memories captured for yourselves.
