Delicate French Inspired Bridals

Wedding Design

Today’s beautiful shoot is all about the moments of quiet — writing a love note to your intended, taking some time to reflect while in your most beautiful intimates, and relishing the moment you finally get your bouquet in your hands before you walk down the aisle. And that bouquet? Rust and Thistle did an incredible job with varying shades of pink all picked up by the film photography of Jenny Losee Photography.

From the photographer, Jenny Losee Photography: Two dresses, an inspiring color palette, and trendy style means one awesome shoot! We wanted to tell a story of a bride on her wedding day. In her delicates – getting ready for the cherished moments to come. We wanted a slow paced soft feel for the day to just focus on the details and beauty of her and the pretty things surrounding her.

This venue was so inspiring to me and reminds me of a high class, elegant building in Europe. I love the clean white and the windows make me weak in the knees so of course we took full advantage and HAD to use this location.

Idaho Woodsy Wedding

Rustic Weddings

Photos by:

This Idaho wedding from Sara K Byrne Photography makes us feel a bit warm and fuzzy inside. Perhaps it’s the cozy wedding venue, the relaxed feel of the mismatched bridesmaids’ dresses, or reception perfectly tailored to suit the newlyweds. Keep an eye out for some amazing bouquets and gorgeous paper goods designed by the groom!

From the bride, Katie: Matt and I both appreciate classy, yet understated style. We love the natural beauty of the outdoors and believed there could be no better inspiration for our wedding day. With that in mind, we chose from styles that created a soft look and a welcoming environment. Vintage décor, DIY projects galore, and numerous design projects meant we had a wedding that expressed US. I would describe our wedding day as vintage, rustic, woodsy, feminine, handmade, and cozy, with a color scheme of dusty rose, blush pink, mauve, light grey, navy blue, and caramel brown.

From the photographer, Sara: Matt and Katie came to gorgeous McCall, Idaho for their wedding day. The River Lodge at Blackhawk was their choice of venue, the unfinished interior matched their style completely! We spend the day exploring the beautiful meadows and fields near the property. Their graphic design background was seen in many details, from the itineraries to the Instagram challenge poster! We loved the wardrobe that Katie picked out for the wedding party, from the non-matching bridesmaids’ dresses to the jeans/suspenders look for the groomsmen. Matt went with J. Crew for the majority of his wardrobe. The rustic/vintage feel of this wedding perfectly fit McCall’s vibe.

Sawtooth Mountains Elopement

Elopements

Ah the elopement, how we love you so. Newlyweds Britt and Alan wanted a relaxed, intimate wedding ceremony amidst the Sawtooth Mountain range of Idaho, with nearly all details made by the bride herself to match her specifications perfectly. Photographer Megan Robinson came along to capture the day’s nostalgic country details, including the groom’s Wyatt Earp-inspired attire.

From the bride, Britt: I’ve always loved vintage and thus my wedding was inspired by the feeling of nostalgia. It was also quite influenced by my country roots and my cowboy father so we knew it just had to be cowboy boots for our nuptial footwear. I feel that I had a little bit of everything I wanted that day – birds, flowers, a vintage style wardrobe, flower embroidered boots, handmade detail items and the love of my life. I chose to make several items because I just could not find what I wanted – no one was selling what I had in mind.

I made Alan’s tie after his request for “what Wyatt Earp would have worn” was voiced. I made my veil from materials acquired from a quaint local fabric store and some leftovers from both my dress and Alan’s tie. Then there were the flowers. I simply don’t trust anyone to put together flowers the way I would have done it. Also, a local florist was not exactly handy in the Sawtooths or feasible on our time frame. If only I could work with flowers every day! I crave the creative outlet and it was the most rewarding and fun project I’d done in a while. To have everyone compliment the bouquet and be able to say I had created it was a wonderful bonus!

When Alan and I discovered each other we lived 300 miles apart. We met online but the first time we ever saw one another was at Redfish Lake in Stanley, Idaho. Our first date lasted three days where we camped, cooked, hiked and talked around a campfire. It was only fitting to return to Redfish nearly 2 years later to say our “I do’s” in that beautiful setting. We loved that we had a similar small and intimate experience at our wedding with only a handful of our closest friends and a lovely photographer to capture it all.

Boise Botanical Gardens Wedding

Garden Weddings

Photos by:

This Idaho wedding shot by Andria Lindquist is that of a couple with two main priorities: comfort and fun. Isn’t that how it should always be? We love the mix of having a ceremony in a garden setting then moving to a reception in an industrial building!

rustic outdoor ceremony wedding

From the bride, Kristin: The majority of our relationship has evolved through shared experiences and memories of being outdoors; from camping trips into the Sawtooth Mountains of Central Idaho to a surprise proposal while hiking the Na’Pali coast of Kauai. In this light, we realized early on that an outdoor ceremony would be perfect for us. The Botanical Gardens stole our heart from the first visit. It offered an intimate, natural setting and had just the right mix of qualities we were looking for.

Together, we decided what was important to us and weren’t afraid to break away from tradition. We wanted every aspect of our wedding to be personal and a reflection of our relationship. During the planning process, we went through the details of the wedding ceremony together and tailored them around things that were significant about our relationship. It was more important for us to involve the people and things that have touched our lives than to conform to conventional standards. We dressed our Miniature Schnauzer, who we absolutely adore, in a bow tie and he accompanied the ring bearer and flower girl down the aisle. We had close friends perform the music for the ceremony, which included the bridal processional, an original acoustic composition of Coldplay’s “The Scientist” instead of the customary “Bridal March.” For an officiant, we had one of Blake’s friends from grade-school perform a ceremony that we all prepared together. The day was pulled together with the help and support of friends and family. Ultimately, it was very intimate and incredibly special to both of us. It was a perfect representation of who we are together and a reminder of how far we’ve come.

Although the entire day was absolutely amazing, there is one particular moment that will hold an extra special place in our hearts forever. Shortly after the ceremony, we managed to sneak away with our photographer to capture a few more pictures as the sun started setting and the lighting was in its prime. As the photo session began to wrap up, my anxiety started to build. I knew we were headed strait to the reception, and shortly after we rejoined our guests we would have our first dance together. I was not only anxious about our performance, but also lacking confidence in the ability of my dress to cooperate with all the twisting and spinning. To calm my mind and ensure there would be no major wardrobe malfunction, Blake pulled out his iPhone and turned on our song. He grabbed my hand and we danced with each other on a cracked slab of concrete in front of an rustic old barn with the sun setting behind us. In that moment, everything slowed down. We looked around and there were no guests, no timeline, and no pressure. It was just the two of us, my new husband and I sharing a moment together that was sweet, improvised, intimate, and unforgettably perfect.

Advice to future brides: Don’t rush the planning process and really take the time to truly enjoy each step. Take the opportunity to have fun, learn more about each other, and explore what it is that makes your relationship so special to each of you. Appreciate the little moments that occur as you work with each other to customize your big day. For me, some of my fondest memories were made while planning; going through all of our favorite songs together and choosing which one to dance to, coming to tears as we wrote our wedding vows, working together to find the right shade of pink for the ties, and stumbling through our first dance practice in the middle of the living room. Those little moments are now just as significant as the actual wedding day.

Vintage Love Shoot

Design Inspiration

I stumbled upon the gorgeous work of Martin and Diana Palmer of Yan Photo the other day and immediately fell in love with it! I just had to share this utterly romantic love shoot… The bride wore a marvelous vintage wedding dress and the couple brought with them great props, including apples that were laid out in the shape of a heart…an absolute delight to look at these images.
