Today’s color palette is right at home in the fall season, blending rich fuchsia and burgundy with just the right touch of gold for a look that’s extra cozy and romantic. The talented team of Amilia Photography, Alexandrea Cantrell Weddings, and Enchanted Florist joined creative forces to bring us this bohemian styled shoot at a rock quarry, proving that something beautiful can always come out of any unique location!

Modern + Chic Boho Fall Wedding Inspiration

Wedding Design

Photos by:

Wesley Vorster

Stark white and clean lines tend to be the beginning of a minimalist design, but event designer White Kite Studio and floral designer Anli Wahl Floral Design wanted to add some fine touches to the mix. The boho trend has been catching eyes and hearts and when paired with the modern characteristics of the shoot photographed by Wesley Vorster, the end result created this refined boho look we can’t keep our eyes off of.

Australian florals, horseshoe escort cards and a family-style feast enhanced with bowls of citrus? We simply can’t get enough of Brooke and Sam’s Colorado wedding captured by Harper Point Photography. Calluna Events once again designed a gorgeous Colorado wedding with floral design by Lalé Floral Design, who added Aussie blooms like Kangaroo Paws, Geraldton Wax and Gum Nuts since the bride is from Australia herself.

Destination Wedding in a Puerto Rican Rainforest

Romantic Weddings

We are clicking our heels at the sight of Erica and Ronnie’s Puerto Rican rainforest wedding. Kara Marshall Events worked with Erica, an event planner herself, to design a tropical fete that had all the guests thankful for the destination of choice. Some of our favorite elements include the handpainted tile that graced both floor and table and the South American florals from Lorraine’s Flowers. This has to be the most stress-free destination wedding to date – and those hammocks at the reception are the proof in the pudding! Leave it to Lisa Blume Photography to tell a darling love story. So without further ado, we invite you to sit back, relax and drift off to this colorful Puerto Rican gathering.

A modern space packed with darling elements full of whimsy? Yes please! This lovely event hailing from Lexington takes place in a contemporary space decorated in stunning colors and out-of-this-world florals. The exposed brick of the interior is the perfect backdrop for all of the fantastic styles all brought together by a hint of vintage and it must be said: the bride’s dress and the tablescapes are the winners here.

Heavenly Wedding Inspiration with a Floral Swing

Wedding Design

Gauzy and dreamy, this Avec L’Amour Photography and Delighted Images shoot is the bee’s knees. Thuy from Avec L’Amour Photography orchestrated the fine details of the shoot and went for a romantic, carefree, and innocent setup, with the sweetest floral swing we’ve seen. Pineapple Petals Studio added to the mix by having heaps and heaps of the prettiest pink fleurs: bougainvillea, roses, tulips, and peonies, to name a few. We can never resist falling for an ultra-feminine shoot like this one!

From the photographer and event designer, Avec L’Amour Photography: California has a natural, golden beauty that is, in one aspect, so harsh, yet also so mesmerizing. The Bay Area is surrounded by golden hills that are often untouched, but only an arms length away. We, a group of Bay Area creative wedding professionals, decided to take a mid-season respite and refill our creative cup with a dream shoot that features some new and different things with which to inspire our clients. This shoot was photographed on both film for its dreamy qualities and digital for expediency. We combined the mediums in this gallery to show brides the seamless blending of hybrid photography, which allows for both cost effective services and true film range.

Before iPads and Pokemon GO, tree swings and warm afternoon breezes were one of the best memories of childhood summers. The quintessential symbol of carefree and happy, we incorporated a handmade rope swing with gorgeous vining bougainvillea and passion flower as a focal point for our model. To round out the look, we added vintage lanterns styled with tree of heaven clusters and more bougainvillea. Finding a hill with a lone, sturdy oak tree to provide an arm and canopy was the finishing touch that made it all feel romantic and heavenly!

The model’s pink champagne two piece dress is perfectly elegant yet playful with the beaded, French vintage inspired cropped camisole and a skirt made of layers upon layers of soft, lightweight tulle. Her light coverage, natural makeup look and loosely arrange low up-do accented with gorgeous handmade hair pieces gives her an organic, effortless look of beauty. Two bouquets were made to compliment this bride’s look — a sweet, but understated romantic arrangement and a more vibrant and textured bouquet. Both looks use the same color family, but feature different levels of vibrancy. Similarly, the menu and invitations showcase a watercolor floral scheme with gold flecked hand lettering to update traditional wedding paper design.

The tablescape is the real life embodiment of our vision of a perfect romantic dinner al fresco. Vintage French bistro chairs were given romantic flare when adorned with olive leaves and budding olives, while delicate, paper thin fuchsia bougainvillea added a feminine touch. The overflowing centerpiece of loosely arranged varieties of roses, tulips, tree of heaven, raspberries, and sweet peas made the rosé wine and lavender buds that much sweeter to sip! Because every dinner should end on a sweet note, the simple, two layered cake decorated with the most organic spray of jasmine vines and a single dusky pink lisianthus could not be more enticing!

Fiesta Inspired Arizona Wedding

Whimsical Weddings

When we need an uplifting boost of color and a beautiful wedding all-in-one, we just look to the lens of Rachel Solomon Photography for that. Arizona is the ideal place to host a wedding with a bold southwest vibe and Toby and David’s wedding is chock-full of pin-worthy details. Victoria Canada Weddings and Events and Butterfly Petals had such creativity going on with this wedding and you can see many examples of it, from the astounding tablescapes to the just-as-phenomenal flower choices. This wedding is a serious A-plus!

From the event planner, Victoria Canada Weddings and Events: We loved helping Toby and David create a wedding that was unique and so different! Toby, who is a graphic designer and designed all the paper goods for her wedding, has an eye for color and we loved her confidence in the bold color choices. The style and feel of their wedding blended perfectly with The Historic El Chorro Lodge, known for its Southwestern flair.

Toby and her mother were very involved in the event planning and design. We loved partnering with them to implement their fun touches. For example, Toby mentioned creating a fun and fresh signature cocktail, and she brought out an inspiration photo and wanted to put her own twist on it. We connected her with a local vendor – Paletas Betty. These Southwest inspired popsicles were placed in a cold glass of Prosecco. The final outcome was unique, pretty and refreshing on a warm wedding day. Toby and her mom Nancy embraced the beautiful and bright colors that are found naturally in the Southwest landscape. The final outcome included dynamic and gorgeous floral centerpieces and floral bougainvillea suspended from the ceiling. What a beautiful day for a wonderful couple!

From the photographer, Rachel Solomon PhotographyIt was a very hot and sunny day for Toby & David’s El Chorro wedding photos, but that didn’t stop them from having the most fun, bright & colorful fiesta inspired wedding! Fuchsias, cobalts, and more were everywhere you looked and everything blended together perfectly. From the floral, to the paper, to the linens, and the Paletas & Prosecco (yum!!) this stunner was so pleasing to the eye. I asked Toby & David to tell me about when they knew each other was “the one,” and how David proposed:

Toby: I knew pretty early into dating David that he was the one. He was the first guy who I felt like I could be 100% myself around, and someone I always had a good time with.

David: I knew she was the one when I would come back to town after being underway for several weeks (I was in the Coast Guard at the time), and she was the very first person I would rush to see. I knew my life was better when I was with her. We got engaged in Washington, D.C. on Memorial Day. We had flown in to visit Toby’s sister who lives there, and her parents had joined us. My parents and brother live in Virginia and drove in to meet up with all of us for the day. I knew I wanted to ask Toby to marry me, and having our families all together seemed like the perfect time to do it. We were all cooling off at a local brewery after a day of sight seeing, and I got up to give a toast to her sister for hosting such a great weekend. Then I turned to Toby and got down on one knee. She looked totally surprised then she started nodding her head ‘Yes!’

Romantic Jewel Toned Wedding

Anna Delores

For some honest-to-goodness, girly-girl wedding inspiration, you really have to look no further than this beautiful berry-toned fête coming straight from the lens of Anna Delores. Nikki and Rob chose a day of sparkle, the dreamiest shades of pink and purple you could imagine, and a classic country feel. We tip our hats off to Vanessa Noel Events for making sure all of the loveliness of their big day was everything they imagined!

wedding dresses - photo by Anna Delores Photography http://ruffledblog.com/romantic-jewel-toned-wedding

From the event designer, Vanessa Noel Events: Nikki is a girly girl–pink, sparkle, and false lashes are a few of this girl’s favorite things! She and Rob are also both small town dwellers who love the slower pace of a little country living. They chose Historic Seven Sycamores Ranch as the backdrop for their sweet wedding and we set out to glam it up just the right amount.

Nikki and Rob wanted their wedding to feel fun, vibrant, and family-centric so we chose to embrace the colors of spring and created a color palette of berry tones that was both cheerful and dramatic. We used accents of metallic gold, ruffles, and a chandelier to give just the perfect touch of girly glam. We played a lot with combining linens to provide extra interest and texture with the head table as the main focal point draped in a fun and flirty ruffled linen.

One of my favorite details was the water goblets at the head table. Nikki’s mother is an avid collector of the goblets from the famous Madonna Inn. As a nod to her, we used her collection on the head table and Nikki hand-picked a colored goblet for each member of the bridal party. As a tribute to Nikki’s German Mennonite heritage, baskets of homemade zweibach (German bread) greeted guests as they sat at their tables and each guest took home a box of pfeffernüsse, made from her grandmother’s recipe.

Rain on your wedding day is never a fun reality, but in this case, it couldn’t have worked out more beautifully. Instead of the original plan to use the garden space for dinner, guests dined in the venue’s glass barn, which provided a gorgeous backdrop of rustic elegance. The various wood tones throughout the venue–in the glass barn and in the garden, were also inspirations for keeping the design down to earth and comfortable. Accents like wood crates and dark wood chairs contrasted the metallic and luxe details for a perfectly balanced design.

Hummingbird Nest Ranch Wedding

Whimsical Weddings

Like the bride said, her wedding had the flower wall of her dreams. Once you see it, you’ll understand why it’s ours too! Matt and Danielle’s California wedding was a dream and thanks to Katie Shuler Photography, we’re able to share all of the bright colors, elegant wedding details from LB Event Planning, and the must-see flower wall and other fantastic florals by Events by Sammy.

From the bride, Danielle: I have always envisioned having a tent reception! The feel is so classic and elegant but also very warm and intimate because of the added nature/garden feel — we both loved that. Matt and I wanted a formal wedding, but one that would be reflective of us as a couple, by remaining personal, and fun! We wanted our wedding to also be elegant, classic, warm, personal, timeless, and garden chic. We were able to achieve that exact vision with the help of my mom, sister and LB Events.

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? Stay true to yourselves! If your day reflects you as a couple, it will be a memorable day for everybody, no matter what. For us, the best touches were the personal ones. We had Matt’s best childhood friend marry us, we wrote our own vows, and I surprised Matt with a visit from our labradoodle during bridal portraits. Unbeknownst to us at the time, our favorite intimate moments were also recognized, and acknowledged, by our family and friends as being the most special. Hire a photographer that you gel with! Matt and I instantly clicked with Katie. Her relational skills, I think, is one of her gifts as a photographer, aside from her insanely talented eye. By the end of the experience we felt like the best of friends — comfortable and ourselves in front of her lens. We absolutely cherish our wedding photos and I know our relationship with our photographer was a big factor.

Bougainvillea Estate Wedding

Modern Weddings

Photos by:

The Melideos

I can admit it; my love for bougainvillea is near obsessive at this point. Fluffy and bright pink, it’s the perfect accent for every tropical climate. Wisely, Andrea and Brian chose to use the blooms throughout their wedding day decor with help from Lace & Likes and Siren Floral Co.. Their day was full of geometric and handmade accents in the absolute chicest boho way possible, and The Melideos captured everything wonderfully — as they always do!

Painterly Summer Wedding Inspiration

Wedding Design

We teamed up with Jessica Cooper PhotographyPatchwork Planning, Forget Me Not Vintage Rentals, and Papertini on a fun shoot we’ve been dreaming of for a while. Our obsession with Ashley Goldberg isn’t going anywhere, so when we asked them to bring our inspiration to life they took it to the next new level. Check back for the how-to on that fun fan backdrop soon!

Colorful Summer Wedding Inspiration - photo by Jessica Cooper Photography http://ruffledblog.com/colorful-summer-wedding-inspiration

When we start off with a cake as amazing as this one from Nutmeg Cake Design, you know it’s going to be something special. Taking cues from abstract art and some of Ashley Goldberg‘s distinctly fun patterns, Nutmeg Cake Design added lots of fresh summer colors and plenty of texture.

Floral-Filled Carondelet House Wedding

Romantic Weddings

No matter how many houses we see at Carondelet House, it never loses its appeal. It was a perfect fit for Rachel and David’s wedding captured by Valorie Darling Photography, which was a day full of some of the most striking hot pink flowers arranged by The Little Branch. Orange Blossom Special Events truly outdid themselves with the coordination on this one!

Floral-Filled Carondelet House Wedding - photo by Valorie Darling Photography http://ruffledblog.com/floral-filled-carondelet-house-wedding

From the bride, Rachel: We got engaged 6/21/14. David planned an amazing surprise proposal at the Abbey (because it was where we had our first kiss). He tried to convince me we have to go for a friend’s birthday. When we got there he told me to keep walking toward the back and I finally came to a stand still when I got to an empty room with two huge cameras, roses and champagne. After, he surprised me with an engagement party (80 of our family/friends) at a friend’s store. We had the BEST night and left a few days later for Italy and Israel for two weeks to celebrate.

Wedding Music:
Bride’s Processional: “At Last,” Etta James
First Dance: “Hold Me Thrill Me Kiss Me,” Mel Carter
Our cocktail hour was all Gipsy Kings! And the dancing was a fun mix of 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s and current music (think Madonna, Prince mixed with Don Omar and Haim)

Floral Wonderland Wedding Ideas

Mon et Mine

This shoot is an explosion of the prettiest flowers and floral ideas you could imagine and we’re so thrilled Mon et Mine managed to capture the best of the best of it. Everywhere you look, there is some form of a bloom drawing your eyes in, from the dainty floral bow on the wedding dress skirt separate to the absolutely impressive hanging cake. Best Day Ever Events practically created an indoor garden with the help of Meesterlijk Groen who used everything from orchids to dahlias, and we could not be more thrilled to share this beautiful inspiration.

floral walls - photo by Mon et Mine http://ruffledblog.com/floral-wonderland-wedding-ideas

From the event stylist, Best Day Ever Events: We had an idea to create something with lots of flowers, starting from the backdrop and sugarflowers on the cake. We were using a lots of flowers showing the beauty of the models and the dresses. dresses were made exclusively for this shoot. Knowing the venue of the shoot we have decided to hang the wedding cake, so it will be something different than normal. We used lots of flowing material to support the prettiest of the flowers and the models.

San Diego Spring Wedding

Bohemian Weddings

What a delight this wedding was from Victoria Carlson Photography! Rebecca and John’s San Diego wedding is chock-full of goodies and details, and we love all of the full-of-life colors that they used: perfect for their springtime wedding! Their chic bohemian wedding day fused together oranges, pinks, and yellows into the funnest ways imaginable. To aid in the color palette, The Slate Barn and Gardens dished out beautiful floral arrangements, namely the bride’s glorious flower crown and bouquet. We can’t say enough how much this boho glam wedding caught our eye!

boho weddings - photo by Victoria Carlson Photography http://ruffledblog.com/san-diego-spring-wedding

From the bride, Rebecca: John and I met while I was living in Washington state (I had moved there after college). We started dating in March 2014, and in April I found out that I had been accepted into San Diego State University’s graduate program in liberal arts and sciences. This was a bittersweet moment for John and I because we had just started dating and I had just found out that I was moving back home in a few short months. So without hesitation and much to my surprise and delight, he told me that he decided he would be moving down to California with me because he loved me and wanted to marry me. And so he did, and we were engaged just six months after we moved!

Fuchsia Industrial Wedding Inspiration

Wedding Design

What do you get when you combine industrial style with a prominent fuchsia palette? An inspiration shoot from Marisa Belle Photography that has us amazed. After getting inspired from a hardware store trip, Marisa thought of an idea of printing wedding invitations on sheet metal, and the rest is history. The entire team pulled together contrasting ideas of vintage and modern through style and lush flowers from The Wildflower AZ, crafting a shoot that will feed your whimsical-loving side while also breathing life into your minimalistic and contemporary side!

modern wedding invitations - photo by Marisa Belle Photography http://ruffledblog.com/fuchsia-industrial-wedding-inspiration

From the photographer, Marisa Belle Photography: This shoot was inspired during a trip to Home Depot of all places. I was looking for new knobs for my cabinets and wandered into the sheet metal section of the store. I was attracted to the dark, oily color of the sheet metal and wondered, “What would a wedding invitation look like on sheet metal?” I got with my favorite calligrapher Jenna Underwood of Paper and Posies Designs and she created the stunning invitation suite incorporating a leather envelope, escort cards, and copper napkin rings and this shoot was born!

Bright + Modern NYC Wedding

Modern Weddings

Photos by:

Haley Sheffield

Buckle in, because we’re about to share the wedding of event and floral designer extraordinaire Juli Vaughn of Juli Vaughn Designs. With some planning expertise from Leah of Color Pop Events and the help of some of New York’s finest vendors, the wedding turned into a “color-filled, festive, whimsical event” in the bride’s own words. Thank you to Haley Sheffield for taking these wonderful images!

Bright + Modern NYC Wedding - photo by Haley Sheffield Photography event and floral design by Juli Vaughn Designs http://ruffledblog.com/bright-modern-NYC-wedding

From the bride, Juli: When Josh and I started planning our wedding, the first thing we realized was that we wanted all of our dearest friends present and involved and made to feel like our wedding was the most fun they’d ever had. It was the driving force in all of our details and all of our festivities. Because it was the second wedding for both of us, we chose to solely invite friends instead of family. We planned a weekend of events – Friday night tacos and karaoke instead of a rehearsal, morning yoga the day of the wedding to calm nerves and start the day off right, a double decker bus tour of NYC for the cocktail hour, and a pajama brunch at the hotel the day after the wedding.

Embroidery and Hand Stitching Wedding Inspiration

Wedding Design

Photos by:

This is the most darling wedding inspiration yet, and we think it has something to do with all of the beautiful embroidery and handmade details strewn all over the chic New York City venue. It adds such a fun vintage touch and let’s talk about these color palettes! What an explosion of detail (I’m looking at you, reception tables) and I just love how all of these eclectic colors come together so well. Playful weddings like this are always so fun to fangirl over!

Bougainvillea Inspired Wedding Ideas

Wedding Design

Photos by:

Savan Photography

One of the first things that hit me when I took a gander at these beautiful photos by Savan Photography was the fact that the stone element in this shoot was its own “color”. Against the bright white of the dress and the radiant fuchsia of the bougainvillea, the stone facade at The Mission in San Juan Capistrano adds such a stunning rustic element to this whole shoot. Bravo to Just a Kiss Weddings and The Blooming Bud for their styling and floral expertise and the lovely simplicity of this wedding inspiration. Makes you want to get whisked away to some exotic old-world country and fall in love all over again.

Bougainvillea Inspired Wedding Ideas - photo by Savan Photography http://ruffledblog.com/bougainvillea-inspired-wedding-ideas

From the photographer, Savan Photography: The bougainvillea are in full bloom and everywhere you turn there are color pops of hot pink, light pink, purple, gold and of course fuchsia. It was this flower that inspired our Spanish theme and I knew where the perfect backdrop would be: The Mission in San Juan Capistrano. With our Spanish/Italian model, we ran with the idea of glamorous, yet romantic wedding inspiration.

Urban Glam Wedding in Long Beach

Romantic Weddings

Photos by:

Erin Hearts Court

Today’s wedding showcases the result when two styles fuse — one with a modern organic background, and the other on the more traditional side. Shalina and Chad’s wedding blended these aesthetics beautifully, using marquee signs, fuchsia flowers, and traditional ceremony pews to tie everything together. Thank you to Erin Hearts Court, Krista Jon, and Christina from Archive Rentals for all your wonderful work here!

urban glam wedding in Long Beach - photo by Erin Hearts Court http://ruffledblog.com/urban-glam-wedding-in-long-beach

From the event planners, Archive Rentals: Salty and sweet; coffee and tea; she and he… their 11 years in the making! With her Filipino and Indian heritage and his all-American Minnesota upbringing, Shalina + Chad’s union was a merging of opposites in the best of ways! While Shalina envisioned a modern meets organic design, Chad’s vision veered towards the traditional. The result? A perfect pairing of a church ceremony with an alternative after-party at an industrial NY style loft space, The Loft on Pine!

Boho Pink Wedding Inspiration

Photos by:

Anna Routh

Modern boho brides, this one’s for you. The second we saw this shoot from Anna Routh and Kelley Event Design, full of every shade of pink and the crispest whites, we fell head over heels for the fresh and airy aesthetic. Add to that not one but two beautiful wedding gowns, and we’re forever in love!

boho pink wedding inspiration - photo by Anna Routh http://ruffledblog.com/rose-quartz-spring-wedding-inspiration

From the event planner and designer, Kelley Event Design: My good friend, Anna Routh, and I pulled together this amazing spring shoot with vendors from all over North Carolina (Raleigh, Chapel Hill, Gastonia and Charlotte) and it turned out really beautifully (if I do say so myself). Anna shot it all on film and the light that day was insane at Separk Mansion. We went with a fern and rose quartz theme picking up on spring colors and of course a nod to one of the Pantone colors of the year.

What doesn’t sound good about a modern Gatsby wedding? There’s something about 1920s style that’s always been impossible to resist, so we’re thrilled to see today’s team of Natalie Schutt Photography, Couture Events Orange County, and The Blooming Bud not only embraced the style but updated it in a way that’s totally chic for today. Without further ado, let’s jump into the pretty images!

Modern Industrial Winter Wedding Inspiration

Wedding Design

Photos by:

Bright colors, geometric details, bold floral arrangements from Branch Design Studio — these are just a few of the pieces that make up this incredible inspiration shoot. The shoot itself was a photographer’s workshop, so the images you’ll see come from not one but five great photographers, including Dana Cubbage Weddings, Caroline Ro, Jenna Marie Weddings, Taylor Rae Photography, and Sara Bee Photography. Let’s jump on in!

modern industrial winter wedding inspiration - http://ruffledblog.com/modern-industrial-winter-wedding-inspiration

From Dana Cubbage Weddings: In the South, it’s not very common to see a wedding that is funky and bold! We wanted to create something that would inspire brides to break the rules – to pave their own path – when it comes to their wedding day design. From the bold two-toned taper candlesticks, a non-traditional light grey wedding dress, dramatic voluminous hair, and a more relaxed look for the groom – this inspiration shoot was anything but Southern. This inspiration shoot was created as part of a workshop for photographers, hosted by five Charleston-based wedding photographers, with the purpose of educating and training second shooters.

The concept was brought to life by a team of incredible vendors, the project was such a labor of love for everyone involved. Dana Cubbage of Dana Cubbage Weddings, Caroline Howard of Caroline Ro, Jenna Moore of Jenna Marie Weddings, Sara Boyd of Sara Bee Photography, and Taylor Horton of Taylor Rae Photography teamed up together to teach this incredible workshop in downtown Charleston and brainstorm the idea for this beautiful shoot. Eliza Morrison of Branch Design Studio played a huge part in our floral-centric design, suspending bud vases + flowers from our corrugated metal backdrop, as well as creating the most beautiful centerpieces of succulents, copper-sprayed greenery, and black taper candles – a total conversation starter for guests!

A white fur runner, glass and copper decorative pieces, and bright colored napkins from EventWorks helped tie everything together.

Carrie of PaperDolls created a full, but loose, curly hairstyle that was perfect for our bride’s dark hair. To match, we asked Weston (our groom – and real-life husband of our bride, Lea) to ditch his tie at the last minute to match Lea’s off-beat look. Still wanting him to look wedding-ready, his anemone boutonniere was the perfect amount of class and formality. This inspiration shoot is a true testament to the amazing things that can happen when you think outside the box.

Fuchsia and Emerald Wedding at Villa Woodbine

Garden Weddings

Photos by:

Michelle March

The color combination of fuchsia and emerald green makes my heart sing oh-so-much, so you can imagine how excited I was to see this wedding from Michelle March and Sullivan Owen Floral & Event Design. The rich colors play off each other beautifully, and accent the couple’s romantic ceremony and reception more perfectly than we could imagine. Congratulations to the newlyweds, Joann and Nate!

From the bride, Joann: I envisioned a garden wedding with old world influences. The venue was my inspiration. I chose bridesmaid dresses that matched the lush greenery and palms. I saw the giant oak tree in the garden, and wanted to transform it into the backdrop of where we were to get married with Spanish moss and romantic florals.

Emerald green and fuchsia were our main colors. I think my head table really encompasses the look of our wedding. We used vintage lace runners on the rustic farm tables, mercury glass and rose gold candle votives and vases, and assorted Vintage candlesticks with taper candles. We had a Vintage postcard station for guests to sign instead of a guest book, which one of my bridesmaids gradually mailed to me throughout our first year of marriage. Used Grandma’s vintage bell collection – one on each table for guests to “ring the bell to see kisses from the new Mr. and Mrs.”

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? Try to have fun with your partner in making the plans. My husband is really into music so I let him take account for all things music related and he loved being able to contribute to the planning of our wedding day. I love florals and had so much fun being able to work with my florist to make my vision come true!

Collaborative Pennsylvania Farm Wedding

Rustic Weddings

Photos by:

Justin Tearney

When bride and groom Heather and Scott started to take on endless DIY projects for their wedding day, they had no shortage of friends and family willing to lend a hand and help tackle the decor. The result is a day at Fox Hill Farm that’s a true collaborative effort, with beautiful thoughtful details everywhere you turn and a wedding photographed by Justin Tearney that will be remembered for years and years to come.

From the bride, Heather: It was really important to us that our celebration reflected and honored our individuals stories and our history together. My grandmother was an artist and her hand painted silk scarves made beautiful runners for the dessert tables, cocktail tables and more. I even used one of her unpainted scarves as a sash. Scott, a photographer, brought his father’s 4×5 camera to be used in photographs. We had recently moved back North after living in Nashville for eight years, so we went with a Southern inspired menu including chicken and waffles, Mac and cheese, hush puppies and pork belly sliders. Scott’s father is known in our families for his pies, and we were excited to have him supplement the amazing desserts made by Allie’s Cupcakery and Cafe with some of our favorite pies he makes.

My father is a woodworker and designer and crafted an amazing bar using antique doors, live edge details, and a copper top. It fit in so perfectly at the venue in their Civil War era barn and existing use of antique doors that it ended up staying for use by future couples. In addition he made a second bar section to hide the kegs, and two beautiful live edge tables, one for the photo booth and one for refreshments and programs at the entrance to the ceremony. He also made the wooden welcome sign Heather wrote on to mark the entrance of the venue.

One of our favorite parts of the whole experience was how collaborative it was. Perhaps our friends and families thought we were a little wacky for how many DIY projects we took on, but if they did they never let on, and pitched in enthusiastically to help us in any way they could. Heather and her sisters all worked together to dip dye over 100 napkins. Scott’s sister and her husband surprised us with an incredible performance of Closer to You by Brandi Carlile during the reception. Heather’s mother was the master organizer which is perhaps the most important part when you are planning a completely DIY wedding. The whole event ended up going off without a hitch and we have no doubt it is because of all of the help we had from family and friends in so many more ways than we could ever list here.

Moody Pink Wedding Inspiration

Wedding Design

Hello Romance! This elegant photoshoot, captured by Kaysha Weiner Photographer, shows how glitz and glam fuse with elegance oh so perfectly. This combination of smoky blues, hues of pinks and metallic tones work for any season. Brilliantly designed by The Joy Parade and adorned with gorgeous florals by Rebelle Fleurs, every little detail has the perfect touch of glamour.

moody pink wedding inspiration - photo by Kaysha Weiner Photography http://ruffledblog.com/moody-pink-wedding-inspiration

From the designer, The Joy Parade: This concept was pulled together after I began tossing around ideas for winter color palettes. Soft light pink with complementary neutral colors are really popular and they’re used all year around – but how can pink transition in a new way for winter? I liked the idea of pulling in the popular shades of pink and blush and ground those a bit more with greenery, and neutrals of smoky blue, brass, and gunmetal. The result is unexpected, romantic, clean, timeless, and a little bit moody.

Contemporary La Jolla Wedding

Whimsical Weddings

When you’ve got a bride who’s heavily engrossed in the art world, it’s a safe bet her wedding is going to be a thing of beauty. Such is the case with this lovely day from Jacqueline Schlossman / READYLUCK, HauteFêtes Fine Weddings & Events, and The Dainty Lion. There was no shortage of modern decor and jewel toned accents, all coming together for a look that’s fresh and stylish.

contemporary La Jolla wedding - photo by Jacqueline Schlossman for Readyluck http://ruffledblog.com/contemporary-la-jolla-wedding

From the event designers, HauteFêtes Fine Weddings & Events: Nicole and Davey are probably the most low maintenance couple I’ve ever worked with. When we met, their only request was to help create a colorful, contemporary wedding, filled with purples, oranges and pinks. It’s not surprising given their background. Nicole’s family is from England and heavily involved in the La Jolla, CA art world – Nicole owns an art gallery; her mother, Margaret Jackson, is an avid art collector and serves on the Board of the Museum of Contemporary Art in La Jolla; and, her father owns Cavallo Vintage Motorsports. Getting to work with such an artistic family as well as so many different gem-tones was brilliant, and really inspired the rest of the décor for their wedding.

Being right on the Pacific ocean, the couple wanted to make sure their guests could enjoy the beautiful view and get a real sense of the breathtaking downtown La Jolla (aptly named since it means ‘jewel’ in Spanish). The ceremony was held at St. James by the Sea and the 300+ person reception followed at the La Jolla Country Club. While the Club has beautiful Spanish bones, we wanted to offset the more traditional feel. So, we created a modern vibe through custom Osborne & Little table runners, black and white La Tavola linens accented with gold sequins, bright pops of floral, specialty Casa de Perrin flatware, brightly colored butterfly name cards at each of the place settings, and a family-style food service, all while paying homage to the character of the venue with vintage wood tables and mirrors.

Following dinner, we laid out the spectacular display of Michele Coulon sweet treats – each bonbon a little jewel itself! And finally, guests bid the couple goodbye with sparklers as Nicole and Davey sped away in their sky blue vintage Aston Martin getaway car. Color was infused all throughout the decor and kept the space feeling light and bright. With so many people in attendance, the colorful palette also helped to keep the event wonderfully intimate and fun. Being a part of this wedding was so special, and getting to witness the love that these two have for each other and their families, was so meaningful. Their personalities were spotlighted throughout, my favorite being the illuminated “LOVE” marquee sign on the mantelpiece above the head table, which for me added the cherry on top of this perfectly, colorful day!

Mixed Metals Wedding in La Jolla

Modern Weddings

Photos by:

Melissa Biador

When I heard “modern, mid-century meets bohemian wedding” and “palette full of blushes, fuchsia, and pops of coral” together in the same sentence, I knew I was in for a real treat, and this wedding from Melissa Biador, Amorology, and Plenty of Petals absolutely did not disappoint. Add in some accents of gold and brass, and you’ve got this richly textured wedding full of totally enviable details that have put it at the top of our favorites list for this year!

mixed metals wedding in La Jolla - photo by Melissa Biador http://ruffledblog.com/mixed-metals-wedding-in-la-jolla

From the event designers, Amorology: Our inspiration for Joanne and Andrew’s dreamy day came from this couple’s love of clouds and sunsets. We infused their modern, mid-century meets bohemian wedding with a palette full of blushes, fuchsia and pops of coral. Accents of gold and brass mixed with vintage glassware topped tables dressed with textured runners. Table numbers floated in golden frames and champagne toasts were poured over delicate clouds of cotton candy in blush coupes.

As a nod to our bride’s love for all things boho, a whimsical macramé piece served as the escort display, complete with gold script and bright, playful florals. Fun lounge pieces including a white peacock chair and a Moroccan rug provided a haven for guests to relax during the evening while the little ones entertained themselves at their very own table, sitting on mini wooden stools. Loved ones left with a sweet homemade treat—delicious cookies created from a special family recipe!

Sentimental Loft Wedding in Birmingham

Romantic Weddings

Photos by:

W&E Photographie

W&E Photographie recently made their way to Bridgestreet Loft for the wedding of Katelyn and Tim, where the couple met with friends and family to celebrate their journey so far and the future. Kalee Baker Events and Marked worked their magic to bring the couple’s vision to life, putting together incredible floral displays and a day no guest will be able to forget anytime soon.

From the photographers, W&E Photographie: These guys truly outdid themselves! They put together a vendor dream team. Bridgestreet Loft is one of our favorite Birmingham venues because, well, those white walls are what my dreams are made of. It’s a blank slate for anything. Katelyn & Tim chose to utilize Laura McCarty’s killer flower skills to add amazing focal points. Not one, but TWO hanging floral installations popped against the white washed brick interior.

Tim & Katelyn opted to do a “ring warming” ceremony. It’s a tradition where the couples rings are passed down each row while their guests are asked to silently say a prayer or blessing for the couple as the ring comes to them. It was such a sweet way to allow the guests to participate in their union. Some of our favorite moments that day happened during Katelyn & Tim’s first look. Tim surprised Katelyn with a bouquet that he made with the help of Laura, their florist. He’d always enjoyed giving Katelyn flowers throughout their dating years, so he wanted to give her a handmade gift of flowers on their wedding day. Swoon! Also, the couple’s kitty, Fitz, got to make an appearance at the first look, as well.

I’m sure you’re beginning to pick up on the fact that Tim & Katelyn just might be two of the most thoughtful and sentimental people around.

Enchanted Styled Wedding at Maravilla Gardens

Wedding Design

We hope you’re ready for a dose of glamour, because today’s shoot is pulling no punches. Gloria Mesa Photography, Christina Lauren, and Ilana Ashley Events all collaborated on this stylish wedding session at Maravilla Gardens, where fuchsia and purple come together in a beautiful symphony and there’s no shortage of mouth-watering desserts to choose from.

From the event designer, Christina Lauren: Tumbling roses, everblooming flowers, and lush greenery overwhelm the second you step into Maravilla Gardens. The original plan for this styled wedding was very natural: wild flowers, fresh California produce, exposed wood, and a splash of glamour. The creative process evolved into something much more romantic, and a bit rebellious. We chose three main stages to show event trends: bridal party table, cozy sitting lounge, and towering displays of dessert.

Peppered with flickering tea lights and bowls of California grown berries, a lacy-sequined blush runner slithered down the 9′ ebony table set for 12. Name card flags were placed in plums, a ridiculously charming, easy, DIY project. We chose to monogram linen napkins with guest’s initials. In lieu of cutesy favors, guests would take something home both practical and personal. We also weren’t afraid to mix metals: copper chargers, brass candlesticks, and gold flatware. The living room inspired sitting lounge, perched over California mountains, was set for those who prefer intimate conversations over the dance floor. Marsala taper candles provided the perfect ambient light, the kind that makes everyone look flawless. Lots of pillows and throws added a cozy element, while their colors reinforced the overall look of the wedding.

Dessert tables, rich with color and decadence, were draped with leafy greens, and roses plucked from Maravilla Gardens. The naked cake adorned with natural produce, seduced with its 9 stacking layers. The dessert bar, three levels high, boasted organic berries and citrus from local farm stands.
Bold and interesting details danced throughout the shoot. Overflowing arrangements dripping in Amaranthus boasted Coxcomb, hydrangea, and deep purple callas. The florals were partnered with veggies like artichoke and eggplant adding a level of abundance and masculinity. The bride’s bouquet was something more wild and simplified – a nod to her casual cool attitude. She wore a traditional lace two-piece gown puddling just enough to conceal her magenta Manolos. Her beau in a traditional tux, “I feel like Bruce Wayne” he boasted posing next to the 1958 Silver Cloud Rolls Royce. That was a moment of ‘aha’ for the team, because shouldn’t everyone feel like Batman on their ‘styled’ wedding?!
