From Linda at Cedarwood Weddings: A sweet proposal at Cedarwood’s Vintage Airstream, decked out in holiday cheer. Our daring groom-to-be uses this shiny American icon to create an ambiance of whimsy, love and adventure that make it impossible for his girl to say no. Heirloom Christmas decorations, stadium blankets, Coca Cola and a ring dangling from a fir tree help this lovely session sparkle with seasonal fun!

Little Red Riding Hood Engagement

This engagement shoot styled by Pam Terpstra of Romancing the Stone is the ultimate in forest whimsy. Throw in one gorgeous red cape, and you’ve got serious Little Red Riding Hood style! Thanks to photographer Rebecca Hollis for these amazing images. The engaged couple, Tony and Tony and Makenzie, were on board with her vision and ran with it. The result is magical.

From the stylist, Pam Terpstra: About 6 months ago I happened to rent the movie Little Red Riding Hood starring Amanda Segfreid. I loved the romanticism, the drama, and the desire she had to be with the one she really loved. It had all the elements of suspense, hold your breath passion, and that cape, OH that cape! I imagined it could be photographed on the top of the world in a stone building. On top of Mount Spokane State Park outside of Spokane, Washington is such a place. The Vista House became Little Red’s residence. I wanted to inspire brides to be themselves and have fun and imagination with their engagement photos. Tony and Makenzie are outdoor enthusiasts and Mt. Spokane is befitting their style. They were totally at home with this engagement shoot as Mt. Spokane is a ski hill in the winter and this is where they met. A love of food is also a passion for them and in keeping with their pastime we set a table befitting Little Red and her fiancé, celebrating their upcoming nuptials. Passion, food, and the literal word RED is what brings this engagement shoot to life.

Jen Huang Workshop

A few weeks ago I was invited to speak at the workshop of the one and only Jen Huang here in NYC, where I talked about submitting to blogs and answered other questions and concerns that attendees had about online publication. The two day workshop was jam-packed with precious professional advice and techniques by Jen, each day with a gorgeous shoot styled by Jackie of Merci New York between in-studio lessons. The styled wedding shoot took place at Central Park Zoo, now offering the space as a wedding venue – lucky for you NYC brides! See that stunning Reem Acra number below? With the romantic aesthetic of Ruffled Blog in mind, this inspiration shoot was created for Jen Huang Photography’s workshop as a collaboration between the many talented vendors involved. A slight drizzle enhanced the secret garden theme and the beautiful Central Park Zoo provided the perfect hideaway for our beautiful couples Naysa and Whitney and Michelle and Jeffrey. We paired classic table pieces and calligraphy by Paperfinger and draped the tables and chairs with florals by Saipua and cakes by Sugar Flower Cake Shop. The lush, intimate scene was captured not only on film but on canvas by a live painter. The concept and mood was designed by Jackie at Merci New York and all the attendees were able to interact with and learn from Jen Huang on site. In addition to these workshops, Jen will be hosting a couple more this year in NY and CA and more information can be found on her blog.

1970s Tennis Engagement Session

Some of the most incredible engagement sessions don’t need props, vendors, or anything of the like — just one amazing photographer and one couple desperately in love. In this case, Chelsea and Kevin are that couple. Brought together by a mutual love of tennis more than fifteen years ago, the two fostered their love of their sport and for each other and are finally making it official! Photographer Jason Domingues captured the couple right at dusk, resulting in some seriously incredible lighting.

From the soon-to-be bride, Chelsea: Even before Kevin and I got engaged I constantly read wedding blogs. Seeing all of the creative ideas inspired me to take our engagement session toward a theme. As Kevin and I met through tennis, it was an easy choice for me. But we wanted to make it unique, so we focused our vision on vintage tennis. (I was also motivated by my handsome fiancé’s resemblance to Bjorn Borg.) We had our concept, and as we searched through antique stores for the perfect wood racquets and gear it really came together. The ingredient that was essential was a photographer to bring it to life. When we met Jason and Allison from Jason Domingues photography, we knew we had found the artist who could capture what was in our heads.

Kevin and I met through a mutual tennis coach when I was only five years old. When I was in high school Kevin became my coach, helping me earn a scholarship to play tennis for a Division I school. It was during my college years that Kevin and I both realized that our player/coach relationship was turning into something much greater. Now that I am done with college tennis, we are looking forward to competing together as a mixed doubles team and already have three tournaments on our schedule, including the National Husband/Wife Championships.

Sharing the love for a sport together only enhances our relationship. We work to make each other better, both on and off the court. This engagement session not only shows who we are as a couple, but completely embraces everything we had hoped to do with an imaginative theme. We are so thankful for Jason Domingues’ talent, and so thrilled to see him work his photographic magic again at our wedding this summer.

Retro Camping Engagement Session

I couldn’t possibly be more envious of a location than I am of this engagement shoot at Hug Point, Oregon. Photographed by the lovely Erica Ann, this e-session embraces all things comfy and cozy: s’mores, fireside, rocky beaches with flannel blankets, and gorgeous succulents in amber bottles. The couple’s 70s style simply tops it all off!

From the photographer, Erica Ann: Meredith and Aris were the lucky winners of a styled engagement giveaway that Kimberly of Billede Design sponsored with me! When we met the couple for the first time we knew immediately what direction we would go with their style. They are a natural and easy fit for the retro denim and leather inspiration. I loved working with the two of them, they are truly in love and march to their own drum!

Lighthouse Engagement Session

There are so very many things we love about this engagement session. Every element of the shoot was perfectly selected, so imagine our surprise when we found out this e-session was styled by none other than the bride herself! With such amazing talent in tow, all that was left to find was an amazing location — check, a wonderfully fresh short vintage dress — check, and an amazing photographer — also check, thanks to the fantastic Ozzy Garcia.

Gorgeously Ethereal Love Shoot

Oh my goodness, this next shoot from Carina and Nadine of Love Me Do Photography is so close to dreamy perfection that my heart hurts! It is pure vintage romance: soft vintage dresses, a stunning old building, and the softest, warmest light you ever did see. Styled by Veronika Placek, all of the details come together to create the perfect muted palette that is pure romance. The photographers describe the shoot, saying, “We wanted to build a narrative story not only around the props but also about the space we were in, the vintage atmosphere, and around the couple themselves.” And I’d say it was quite the success, wouldn’t you?

Intimate Engagement Celebration

Megan and Seth’s session is just a glorious teaser of what we have lined up for you this week. How much do you love Megan’s black lace dress? I’d say it’s a pretty strong contender against the queen color of all wedding dresses, no?

Retro Florida Engagement

Despite being shot just recently in Florida, this lovely engagement session feels like it stems from somewhere much deeper in time. Its retro glamour is tender and real, not costumey, and the couple, Sergio and Vicky, couldn’t look more gorgeous. Photographer Justin DeMutiis uses that ethereal lighting just perfectly, don’t you think? Thanks for the eye candy, Justin!

Crafty Christmas Engagement Session

‘Tis the season to show your love in fun and creative ways! Or so is the case for Elsie and Jeremy, a too-cute couple who were recently snapped by photographer Sarah Rhodes for their engagement photos. This is a perfect example of using the engagement photos as an opportunity to showcase your personalities and, well, your gosh-darn adorableness. Elsie is the crafty maven behind Red Velvet and Jeremy is an amazing singer/songwriter in Springfield, Missouri. Enjoy!
