Summer Harvest Wedding Inspiration

Wedding Design

It turns out that the nearing end of summer and the quickly approaching arrival of fall can make for some incredibly earthy and unique wedding inspiration, just as KMitiska Photography shows us in this editorial. Taking all of the scrumptious harvest-time goodies, Root + Gather Events pulled in those classic summer brights and wove them through deep fall jewel tones. Fawns Leap ran amok with this palette and made arrangements that perfectly echoed the laid-back, farm chic mood.

From the photographer, KMitiska Photography: This stylized photo shoot was inspired by the spirit and bounty of the summer harvest. Full of life, love, and moody ambiance; these inspiration photos epitomize a refined-rustic, farm to table wedding. From the lush florals interwoven with cabbage and artichoke to the hand painted stationery and farm-fresh dinner selection, every detail was lovingly and expertly crafted to reflect this vision.

The rich color scheme was drawn from the abundance of harvest fruit and vegetables; providing an excellent natural palette of hues as well as textures. This palette was brought into our intimate tablescape through the lush floral designs from Fawn’s Leap, as well as the fresh made food from The Butcher and the Blonde food truck. Adding to this cornucopia of organic textures, Whimsy Design Studio adorned a custom wood palette backdrop with live moss lettering to create a unique and striking ceremony background.

Kimberly the photographer chose Jesse and Megan to be the subjects for this session. They are a couple if you can’t already tell and they got married a few weeks before these images were taken. We really love that you can see their beautiful relationship in these images. Kimberly wanted these images to feel like a real wedding, which is why she included Jesse and Megan getting ready, and even a few photos that acted as a first dance.

Bohemian Bridesmaid Brunch Party

Wedding Design

We think styled shoots like this should definitely be a thing. When putting together this shoot, Callie Hobbs Photography and Yonder Floral and Decor House wanted to think out of the box and construct an editorial different from the traditional bride and groom shoot. As soon as Callie and Gretchen found an engaged model, they thought to do a glam shoot with her and her girlfriends, dressed to the nines in boho chic gowns and gorgeous hair and makeup. What a fun concept to tackle with your own bridesmaids!

From the photographer, Callie Hobbs Photography: When putting this shoot together with Gretchen of Yonder Floral and Decor House, we wanted to do something different than the standard bride and groom session. Gretchen was the brains behind this magical day! She actually found a model who is soon to be married and then we brought in two of her girlfriends to have a bridal brunch! To make it even more fun we turned it into a photo session with a bride and her best friends! Who doesn’t want a chance to get all dolled up with a fabulous braid and flawless makeup?!

Gretchen created the beautiful florals and then also made these gorgeous greenery belts for her besties in the ethereal gowns. It was the perfect touch! I could not get over how beautiful everything came together! As the girls were blasting and dancing to music, it made me wish we did something this fun before my wedding! I loved the table setting on the floor with an over hanging woven fixture. I mean wow! Gretchen is truly a talented human being! Along with the tee-pee and the fun rugs she set up in such an industrial, clean space, that made it stunning! Blanc could not have been a better location for such a fun and light-hearted event. I feel like the engagement period just flies by so to anyone in this phase of life, don’t let it pass you by! Take advantage of it and gather with people you love every chance you can!

Industrial Modern Colorado Wedding Inspiration

Wedding Design

Photos by:

Connie Whitlock

How lucky is it to be able to pull off a beautiful Galia Lahav wedding dress straight off of the runway and use it in a shoot with Connie Whitlock? Quite lucky, indeed! We’re so excited to share these yummy photos with you so you can go gaga over all of the beautiful details of Moss Denver‘s transformation, and the modern color palette with the Victorian garden-esque florals by Flora by Nora. Simply amazing!

industrial modern Colorado wedding inspiration - photo by Connie Whitlock Photography http://ruffledblog.com/industrial-modern-colorado-wedding-inspiration

From the photographer, Connie Whitlock: The inspiration for the colors, mood, and style of the shoot came from the invitation suite provided by Wedding Paper Divas. The shoot took place in a modern/urban venue, but we kept the decor very organic and simple. The stunning dress by Galia Lahav is fresh off the runway – we lucked out and had a chance to incorporate it while it’s going around on the trunk show circuit. We loved the juxtaposition of the clean, elegant lines of the modern, urban, industrial venue against the organic feel of all of the decor we chose. We chose organic textures like rustic wood, silks, and linens, and layered with a simple color palette and lush florals. We used overflowing floral to accent everything and to create that look.

Urban Garden Party Wedding

Wedding Design

Set in an industrial space and shot by the uber-talented Emily Sacco Photography, today’s shoot has me falling in love with how Revel+Bloom and Sweet Pea Flowers dressed up Moss Denver. While the space itself is edgy and urban, the look is contrasted with lush greenery and flickering candles sprawling all over that sweetheart table, seemingly-endless moss walls, and a swing bedecked in vines snaking all over the ropes. Kudos to the vendor team for bringing such a creative idea to life!

urban garden party wedding - photo by Emily Sacco Photography http://ruffledblog.com/urban-garden-party-wedding

From the event designer and planner, Revel+Bloom: In our shoot, we are featuring two custom built 16′ moss walls, garden-inspired swing, overgrown and raw sweetheart table design, an intimate and minimal ceremony space, and gravity-defying dessert display. The shoot was styled as “urban garden party” and we worked very hard to keep things original, inventive, and cutting-edge. The final product is very high-end and couture inspired. I really believe that readers will resonate with and be inspired by the work we’ve produced for this shoot!

Greek Inspired Colorado Ranch Wedding

Romantic Weddings

A wedding with 500 guests isn’t easy to pull off, but Mari and Tomas managed it brilliantly with the help of Steve Stanton Photography, Calluna Events, and The Perfect Petal. The day was full of elegance, tradition, and hometown charm, using a recurring motif of olive branches to tie everything together brilliantly.

Greek inspired Colorado ranch wedding - photo by Steve Stanton Photography http://ruffledblog.com/greek-inspired-colorado-ranch-wedding

From the bride, Mari: Tomas and I both have very large, exciting and involved families. I’m Greek and Tomas is Spanish, with both cultures being very passionate, when we come together everything escalates quickly. When the news spread from California to Colorado and overseas to Greece and Spain, everyone was ready and elated for the marriage of Tomas and I. Our engagement party set the foundation for our planning, reminding us that no matter what comes our way during the process we were going to throw the most elegant, meaningful, passionate celebration. This celebration was not only for us but also for every single person that helped us get to where we are today. So from there the blueprints of our dream wedding were mapped out. After losing my mother five years ago, wedding planning was very emotional to take on by myself. It was a time in my life that I always dreamed I would have my mom by my side. Together we were a dream team when it came to planning, and without her, I knew every decision would be bittersweet, wishing that she could be a part of all the details. Keeping her always at the front of mind through the entire planning process she helped as my guardian angel. Being an event planner and marketer by trade, I had a clear vision of what we wanted and needed.

Lyons Farmette Bohemian Wedding

Bohemian Weddings

Photos by:

Our Love is Loud

We love hearing these words from a bride: “We wanted the land to be our decor and we added just a few personal touches to the natural beauty that surrounded us.” Newlyweds Ashley and Brian married at the breathtaking Lyons Farmette in Colorado, incorporating a few bohemian touches like a macrame ceremony backdrop and wildflower floral arrangements along the way. Thank you to Our Love is Loud for sharing your work!

Lyons Farmette bohemian wedding - photo by Our Love is Loud http://ruffledblog.com/lyons-farmette-bohemian-wedding

From the bride, Ashley: I didn’t have a specific “style” in mind for our wedding but I knew I wanted it to be a collection of all of our favorite things. We love nature and feel very supported by the land which made it important for us to find a beautiful outdoor space that had trees, water, and a fire pit. We wanted the land to be our decor and we added just a few personal touches to the natural beauty that surrounded us.

I’d describe our day as natural, grounded, Earthy, fun! The women in the bridal party wore tones of blush, pink, and rose gold and the men wore gray suits with navy bow ties. The napkins were DIY. We purchased multiple fabrics and created the napkins for the tables, which added a nice touch. The alter was made from family members and we took lots of time and attention to bring photos and important items for our alter space and tables. One of my favorite parts of the wedding was walking through the Lyon’s Farmette garden and showing the florist, who works full time on the land, what colors and flowers I liked. She hand made the bouquets and floral arrangements the morning of our wedding and all the flowers came from the garden on site.

Lush Woodland Inspired Dinner Party

Wedding Design

Who says you can’t bring the outdoors inside? Calluna Events recently held a staff party, and took it as the perfect opportunity to create an inspiring tablescape full of moss and elements of greenery for a lush look we can’t resist. Thank you, of course, to James Christianson Photography for capturing it all!

lush woodland inspired dinner party - photo by James Christianson Photography http://ruffledblog.com/lush-woodland-inspired-dinner-party

From the event planners, Calluna Events: As a wedding planner I’m constantly dreaming up inspiration shoots and thinking outside of the box for my next design. Planning our staff holiday party was no exception to this. Our entire team works so hard all year long that when it came to celebrating the holidays I wanted to do something completely unexpected and blow them away in the process. The inspiration for this dinner party came from my desire to create a party, just like the ones we create all year long, only where they were the guests of honor.

Equestrian Ranch Wedding

Rustic Weddings

When you’ve got a wedding with a guest horse and a bride wearing Manolo Blahniks, consider me intrigued. Add in a batch of rustic elements, a reception full of lush greenery, and the talents of Sara Lynn Photographic, Organically You Events, and Sweet Pea Flowers and you’ve got me reeled in!

equestrian ranch wedding - photo by Sara Lynn Photographic http://ruffledblog.com/equestrian-ranch-wedding

From the bride, Ellie: Being that our wedding took place out-of-state, it began with quite a bit of research online and frequent trips to Denver to scope out potential wedding vendors. We also spent many nights on the couch with a glass of wine in-hand exploring different design ideas and vendor options. Our saving grace was hiring our local wedding planner, who was able to help make our dream come to life while we were home in Texas. What were your favorite moments from the wedding day? Right before our grand exit, our band put Michael Buble’s “Save the Last Dance For Me” on. While our wedding planner was lining up our guests outside the tent, the two of us remained inside and broke out in a completely unplanned, final bride and groom dance. It was such a magical moment, complete with cheers from our band members!

From the photographer, Sara Lynn Photographic: Ellie and Zach were married on September 26, 2015 at Arrow C Ranch in Parker, Colorado. Their day was a beautifully planned equestrian ranch wedding with bohemian touches mixed with luxury. Some of my favorite touches were the antlers and furs scattered around the tables, chairs and lounge seating area. Ellie’s ‘something blue’ were high heeled Manolo Blahnik’s that turned her into a supermodel that she paired with a stunning layered gown.

Their ceremony was in the estate’s courtyard and they were married under a draped arbor with Pike’s Peak in the background. The reception was kicked off with yard games, drinks and appetizers and guests made their way to the tented reception where they feasted on a Texan themed meal to tie in Zach’s southern roots. The night had a cool breeze, perfect because as the band kicked off Zach and Ellie’s first dance, the full harvest moon began to show – something almost every guest took snapshots of.

Dip Dyed Colorado Wedding

Blue Label, Romantic Weddings

Burgundy is pretty much the staple color for this winter, and never has it shined so brightly as in Mary Kate and Jake’s wedding. You can spot it in the paper goods, the bride’s bouquet, the reception tables, and even the ceremony decor! Sara Lynn Photographic and Rachel Austin Events both did beautiful work here, along with the many other talented vendors.

dip dyed Colorado wedding - photo by Sara Lynn Photographic http://ruffledblog.com/dip-dyed-colorado-wedding

From the photographer, Sara Lynn Photographic: Mary Kate and Jake were married at Blanc in downtown Denver. They planned a modern, dip-dyed wedding with hints of bordeaux, blush and gold. Mary Kate was a very hands-on bride and designed her own floral centerpieces, bouquet and paper goods, including the stunning invitation suite. Seriously, this girl is talented. The ceremony was absolutely beautiful. Their friend married them and planned a Native American ceremony. Jake made the arbor that they were married under and his parents sang a heartfelt song to them – it was such a sweet moment. They also incorporated Josie and Abby, Jake’s identical twin daughters that Mary Kate has come to call her own.

The reception was kicked off with delicious appetizers and drinks. Mary Kate and Jake had some alone time as we went to Union Station for portraits. The reception decor was beautiful – dip dyed runners, gorgeous florals, loads of cake and delicious foods. At the end of the night, the party was moved outside for dancing under the market lights, a coffee bar and your choice of cake. To end the celebration, Mary Kate and Jake exited the venue with their friends and family cheering and waving sparklers.

When we talk about picture-perfect weddings, this one tops the list — for example, the scenery during the ceremony was so picturesque we had to do a double take to make sure it was real! Thank you, Colorado. Lisa O’Dwyer, Pink Diamond Events, and Hana Style Designs all lived up to their incredible potential working on Joette and Justin’s wedding day, full of darling details and great ideas to inspire your own wedding day.

From the bride, Joette: We both love the outdoors and wanted a beautiful, natural scene for the backdrop of our wedding. We wanted the day to represent who we are and to be an intimate celebration with the people closest to us. We wanted get out of town and I asked Justin – beach or mountains? He picked mountains. Oddly enough, my parents have friends who just finished building out a home in Estes Park, and they had extended an invitation to visit. My mom and I went for a weekend, and it was just beautiful. I sent Justin some pictures and then my mom and I spent the weekend looking at venues with her friend as our personal guide.

I think our wedding was classic and timeless in a rustic setting (for lack of more eloquent words!). I wanted soft tones to balance out the wood and the dark room at the reception. Overall it was exactly what I envisioned and the images perfectly capture that feeling. Our personalities are a mix of rugged and soft. I believe our flowers included some hydrangeas and soft pink roses, we had some greenery hanging from the chandeliers. We also incorporated branches in the table settings and our florist spray painted some succulents gold which was an awesome touch.

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? The double edged sword is that images and ideas are readily available through print and social media. It’s incredibly helpful and yet overwhelming. It also makes it easier to get swept up in all of the wrong things and forget why you are truly planning a wedding. When your wedding day comes there are always elements outside of your control – no matter how much planning you have done. Surround yourself with people you can trust and go into the day knowing that you may have a good story or two to tell. The goal is not a perfect day, but a joyful life together.

Brilliant Wedding Design Inspired by Paper Goods

Wedding Design

Photos by:

Megan W Photography

We couldn’t agree more with Frances of Prema Style when she said “Honing in on the style that resonates for you and your fiance (and the type of event right for you both) helps tell your story in an authentic and harmonious way.” This styled shoot was put together to showcase three unique styles inspired by various wedding invitation suites and stationery, and each of the looks is a positively stunning celebration of its own theme. Thank you Megan W Photography for your beautiful images!

From the stylist, Frances Harjeet of Prema Style: Your wedding is an opportunity to share your story with those that you love in a beautiful and meaningful way. Personalization is in the details. Honing in on the style that resonates for you and your fiance (and the type of event right for you both) helps tell your story in an authentic and harmonious way. In this editorial, we’ve chosen three distinct paper suites to style with corresponding details to show how you can connect your wedding style throughout the planning process and celebration. Your paper goods set the tone for your guests, since receiving a Save the Date or Invitation will be their initial introduction to your event. We encourage couples to be creative in the manner they carry the aesthetic of the paper goods into the styling for their big day.

Stunning Floral: Bright and bold, this watercolor invitation suite is all sorts of fun. We imagine this wedding with a poppy Palm Springs vibe with MidMod accents. Warm and sunny, these paper goods call for flirty fashion, cheerful pink blooms and citrus-infused cocktails. An assortment of sweet confections, petit fours and tartelettes of raspberry and pistachio offer a delightful alternative to the standard wedding cake. Colorful vintage stamps and personalized stickers add even more charm to this spunky and stylish wedding.

Marbled Chic: This paper suite is classic and formal, perfect for a Black-Tie wedding for two very chic grooms. We chose timeless florals; freesia and calla lilies in a monochromatic palette. Elegant sterling silver pieces for the table-scape, tall white tapered candles, rich ivory lines with crisp black accents further establish the aesthetic. Inspired by the marbled paper backing on the invitation, we incorporated details using this refined marbled look into other aspects of the styling. This is a wedding perfectly suited for silk bow-ties, mother of pearl cufflinks, decadent chocolate cake, champagne towers, a big band playing jazz favorites, and frolicking in fountains after midnight.

Fairytale Romance: Just like an 18th century painting in a carved gilded frame, this suite transports us to another time and place. Magical and dreamy, we were swept away by the romantic feel of this trifold invitation. Soft pastel florals, antiqued gold and silver tarnished with verdigris, lush ferns and draping vines, the elements for this set are natural, delicate and rich with stories. A hand-painted cake, inspired by the painterly aesthetic of the invitation is draped with demure greenery and the sweetest little blooms of “Love-in-a-Mist.” With this styling, our bride, adorned in fine Belgian lace and sparkling diamonds, steps straight out of a fairytale book into her real life romance.

Glam Holiday Wedding Inspiration

Wedding Design

Photos by:

Emily Sacco

There’s no time like the holiday season for glam wedding inspiration, and this shoot from Emily Sacco, Calluna Events, and Merci Bouquet Floral brings it in full force. A team of Denver’s best and brightest came together to create this shoot inspired by a roaring 20s theme with a hint of edginess, chock full of black, gold, and red accents. How did it all turn out? You’ll just have to see for yourself!

glam holiday wedding inspiration - photo by Emily Sacco http://ruffledblog.com/glam-holiday-wedding-inspiration

From the event designers, Calluna Events: Energized by the changing seasons and the colder temperatures, we at Calluna Events set out with a mission to curate a shoot that catered to both the winter bride and holiday party enthusiast. Armed with the color palette of black, gold, and bright hues of red, we were completely inspired and ran with an edgy roaring 20s vibe that was dripping in glitz and glam! We paired up with Denver’s talented vendors – each bringing their own personal flair and interpretation to our speakeasy theme and together a sultry, rich, and totally gorgeous shoot came together. Epernay Lounge in downtown Denver served double duty not only as our one of a kind sultry venue, but assisted in the ideation of our spooky speakeasy, contributing everything from the dripping tapered candles to the gold gilded pumpkins. Merci Bouquet showed up with extravagant blooms in hand, exploding with texture and color. The unexpected combo of fruits + florals to garnish the tablescape effortlessly complemented our distinct color palette, bringing poise and synergy to the entire shoot.

Dark boutonnieres flattered the eye-catching textured bouquets, and an abundant array of candles topped off the vibrant black sequined La Tavola linen. Gold flatware, chargers and matte black napkins were the finishing touches. Each detail was carefully crafted to dramatize our gorgeous venue and complete the already sexy, intimate vibe. It was nearly impossible to tear your eyes away from the giltz of it all. A & Be bridal shop generously presented two never been photographed dresses for the shoot. The Catherine Dean “Tallulah” dress and the Rue de Seine “Leif” dress from the 2016 “Nomadic Love” Collection were featured and individually lent a hand in completing the look we were striving to accomplish. The simplicity and elegance of each dress were breathtaking and stole the show. We loved the intricate beading detail on both dresses, emulating the Great Gatsby glamour with a modern edgy spin… swoon. Our grooms were clothed in beautiful custom Bespoke Edge suits – clean, polished, and perfectly suave.

Our couple sat like royalty in Charming Chairs’ King chairs – their newest edition and a never been photographed specialty. With such a commanding presence, we paired these one of a kind love seats alongside the clean white Louise chair to create a juxtaposition of our darker colors. Lolli and Pops took us back the Roaring 20s with indulgent sweets and candies – Charleston Chews, cream sodas and gold and silver rock candy that looked almost too good to eat. Sugarmill brought our delicious macaroons, decorated with flecks of gold and delicate black detail. Each sweet treat seamlessly fell into the mix. Bubbles were popped over a dramatic champagne tower, compliments of Moet & Chandon Champagne. The intricate tower was handcrafted on top of a glamorous gold sequin linen provided by Event Rents. Last but certainly not least, Emily Sacco from Emily Sacco Photography photographed the entire shoot. The angles she captured, the colors she accentuated, and the overall feeling she curated through her photos was absolutely jaw dropping. We are overjoyed with the final product!

Stylish and Light Fall Wedding

Modern Weddings

While we love our dark and moody color palettes for autumn, we absolutely adore that this couple took a brighter and airy approach to their fall wedding. Cheery reds, light pinks, and crisp whites all come together for Abby and Tommy’s beautiful day, which was pulled off with the help of wonderful vendors including Sara & Rocky Photography, A Vintage Affair Events & Rentals, and Park Floral Design.

stylish and light fall wedding - photo by Sara and Rocky Photography http://ruffledblog.com/stylish-and-light-fall-wedding

From the event designers, A Vintage Affair Events & Rentals: This delightful and gorgeous wedding featured a bright and bold color palette using a colorful red, blush, gold, and ivory as the main colors. The colors were able to pop out against the blank canvas that is Blanc while seamlessly harmonizing with the greenery around the venue to create an organic yet vibrant feel. The couple decided they wanted to carry over their initials from their invitations to the wedding itself. In order to do this they enlisted the help of Lighting and Design by Scott to create marquee lights of their initials and an ampersand. The marquee lights created a unique and modern backdrop to their ceremony, as the couple stood in front of the lights for their special moment.

On their way down the aisle the handsome and might we say adorable ring bearers carried “hip hip” and “hooray” flags. Though only a small detail, the bride loved this idea so much she chose to have the flags recreated as mini drink stirrers so guests could enjoy them with their beverages. Abby and Tommy’s ceremony was incredibly heartwarming as both of their dads officiated it. Tommy’s dad began so that Abby’s dad could walk his daughter down the aisle and then take a minute to soak it all in before concluding the ceremony. It was so personal and so lovely, everyone was smiling from ear to ear the entire time. Showing off their bright and fun personalities, when the ceremony finished, instead of turning around and walking down the aisle, they made their way back in style… by dancing down the aisle.

To carry on the theme of the ampersand, Tommy and Abby used handmade ampersand magnets to hold guests’ watercolor place cards. These magnets then doubled as the couple’s favors. The reception room was filled with beautiful wood tables which were adorned with lovely wild, loose, textural arrangements to keep the feeling more organic. There was also seasonal fruit to complete the look which tied in the overall farm to table ambiance the couple wished to design. Seasonal blooms like dahlias were brought in to correspond with the beginning of the fall season! The florist also used Vining greens in order to “connect” the tables and make the room feel more integrated and natural. For dessert guests enjoyed a s’mores flavored cake made by the bride’s friend. They also had ice cream sandwiches served on an adorable pink bike.

Organic Blush Wedding Inspiration

Wedding Design

Today’s shoot is one of those that just stops us immediately in our tracks. The delicate blush pink and neutral palette paired with the organic floral design and the beautiful images from Tamara Gruner Photography all add up to pure magic that we couldn’t possibly resist! And the bride’s bouquet with a hint of artichoke styled by Bare Root Flora? Utter brilliance.

organic blush wedding inspiration - photo by Tamara Gruner Photography http://ruffledblog.com/organic-blush-wedding-inspiration

From the stylist and florist, Robyn of Bare Root Flora: The inspiration for our shoot was a desire for a sense of feminine romance. We chose a sophisticated, elegant color palette of blushes, greys and golds that married beautifully with the pines and dramatic desert rocks of Castlewood Canyon, where we set our scene. A stormy, grey day was the perfect complement to the look.

We kept the look on our beautiful bride simple and natural, with loose, flowy hair and soft makeup. Her two-piece gown from Emma & Grace was dreamy and romantic while still feeling fresh and contemporary. We wanted the flowers to capture the same romantic, organic feeling. Bare Root Flora paired textural dried artichokes with soft garden roses, chocolate Queen Anne’s lace, sweet astrantia, soft silver tree protea and lush foliage and grasses in a loose and lovely bouquet finished in blush silk ribbons from Silk & Willow.

We wanted the accompanying tablescape to be an extension of this dreamy, romantic aesthetic. The table was set with gorgeous silk runners from Silk & Willow, which echoed the wind and the colors in the canyon. The napkin detail was a particularly lovely focal point for the table, which was set with romantic tableware from Anthropologie. The hand lettered place cards from Miya at Layers of Loveliness were the perfect finishing touch. The finished look was just what we wanted, dreamy and romantic but with an almost effortless sense of sophistication.

Fall Harvest Friendsgiving Wedding

Wedding Design

Breaking bread over delicious treats with good company is exactly how Thanksgiving should be spent. This styled shoot from Tara Bielecki Photography, Liz Wegrzyn, and Posies & Poms blends beautiful wedding style with a feast (both for the eyes and for the palate) beyond our wildest dreams. Have a happy Thanksgiving, all!

fall harvest Friendsgiving wedding - photo by Tara Bielecki Photography http://ruffledblog.com/fall-harvest-friendsgiving-wedding

From the photographer, Tara Bielecki Photography: This styled shoot was inspired by early Britain harvest festival customs and traditions. Until the 20th century most farmers celebrated the end of the harvest with a big meal called the harvest supper, to which all who had helped in the harvest were invited. We love how this idea marries with the sentiment of celebrating with those who have supported you to cultivate your wedding day. Much like a harvest festival, weddings are a time for us to gather and celebrate the fruits of our labor. A time for us to join around the table, break bread, drink wine, and enjoy the company of the ones we love and are grateful for.

Photographed at the historic Castle Marne in Denver, Colorado, this lava stone home was built in 1889 and added authenticity of the time frame for which our inspiration was richly celebrated. We love the thick stone walls, lush gardens, and intricate detailing around doors and windows, making it perfect for a communal celebration. We chose this Sarah Janks gown from Emma & Grace Bridal as a nod to European elegance. We complimented the beautiful silver beading from the gown with one of a kind jewelry from Arcatus Jewelry. Makeup was inspired by the beautiful plum and fig colors featured in the florals.

I wanted to really bring this shoot to life by incorporating delicious local food fit for the finest harvest celebration. Foodie Call created the perfect holiday meal and the beet soup was an excellent complement to our rich tablescape. No harvest meal would be complete without a buffet full of delectable desserts, which is why Handcraft Bakery crafted the most beautiful ganache, cakes, and candy apples. Our goal was to show how this holiday season can be elevated to an elegant wedding affair with the ones you love.

Bohemian Colorado Elopement

Elopements

This real elopement has captured our hearts, and not just because Sophie and Andy are one of the most beautifully in love couples we’ve ever seen. Every element of their day was carefully thought out and brought to fruition by Danielle DeFiore Photography, Bello and Blue Events, and Somerset Design, with a brilliant color palette of orange, purple, and soft turquoise. If you’re thinking of eloping, this is a wonderful place to start for inspiration!

From the photographer, Danielle DeFiore: Part of the beauty of a small, intimate wedding is how the personalities of the couple really shine through in all the little details. Meaningful decor, wedding invitations with fine art touches and bright colors paired with handcrafted local food and desserts – these are some of the simple, beautiful touches couple Sophie and Andy combined to share a little bit of everything they love at their Colorado wedding.

The couple planned their elopement just north of Denver with the help of Bello and Blue Events, and it was one of the most colorful weddings I’ve photographed in a long time. Greens, deep purples and vibrant orange paired with light pinks and yellows looked radiant against the sand colored Colorado desert landscape, offering a last burst of color before cooler weather sets in. The rich color palette was originally taken from natural elements found in a desert that become even more beautiful at dusk. Bella and Blue helped integrate bold tones for the fall destination wedding, off-set by an abundance of candlelight and metal luminaries for an intimate and romantic feel.

Andy wore clean tweeds and blues which complemented their raspberry and coral colored flowers. Sophie chose a flowing, tan dress to blend into the desert location and serve as backdrop for the colorful flowers, stunning turquoise jewelry and of course, the big blue open sky! With the help of some talented vendors, Sofie incorporated her love for kombucha by finding a local Denver vendor who brews their own and provides growlers and sweet ice-cream treats. The couple exchanged vows alone under the very same trees Andy proposed to Sophie, with a simple dream catcher to signify the start of their journey as they build new dreams together. Soon after, they welcomed a few special guests to share in the one-of-a-kind celebration. It was such a treat to be an elopement photographer for Andy and Sophie!

Mountain Wedding in Colorado

Romantic Weddings

Cassidy Brooke

Cassidy Brooke‘s weddings always seem to stop us in our tracks, and Katie and Chad’s big day is no exception. The couple relied on their own vision and the talents of Sarah Viera Events to create a backyard casual wedding with a hint of glam, using a color palette of gold, blush, and ivory to make everything as dreamy as possible.

From the bride, Katie: We wanted to create an environment that was a bit glamorous, a hint of backyard casual, welcoming and definitely unique! Even though we had a larger guest list, we wanted everyone to feel like they were at a party we were throwing – not a huge event. Our colors were gold, blush and ivory.

Flower recipe: The bridesmaids had white roses and baby’s breath, and mine was full of the perfect blush roses, baby’s breath and lambs ear! The pop of fuzzy soft green made all the difference! The groomsmen had succulents, and my husbands had a small blush rose along with the succulent to stand out just a bit.

I spent many hours cutting, sewing, painting and gluing! We DIYed gold glitter arrows that led guests down a path to the ceremony, fake sparklers since our venue wouldn’t allow for the real thing, our table markers that hung from the ceiling, which coordinated with the table markers attached to a glass bottle filled with amazing pink sparking water- which doubled as our favors! We DIYed our guest book, which was a large beach my father in law made, which we had everyone sign. He also built our amazing arbor out of trees that actually had been burned in the large forest fires we had in town a couple years ago.

We also found these amazing vintage 100 year old doors, that my father in law made into an amazing entrance for me! Since our ceremony was all outdoors, I still was able to hide and have a “all eyes on me” moment. We also chose to DIY our cakes! One of my favorite details about our wedding was the 12 cakes my mom made for our day, each of which we decorated a bit differently. That was a favorite project because my mom, grandmother and maid of honor all came together and iced the cakes. They were eaten so quickly my husband and I didn’t even taste any! We had a larger focus cake that was brushed with gold that we saved for the actual cake cutting – I’m so glad we did!

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? Don’t take on too much, and don’t plan too far ahead! We had a year and a half to plan, which was great in the beginning, but I ended up having so much time that I kept thinking of all the great “easy” projects I could do- and that quickly turned into way too much to handle. And of course – communicate! Communicate your vision and what you see for that day together, and keep that in the front of your thoughts throughout everything your planning.

Wedding Music:
Processional: “Lovelier Than You,” B.O.B.
First Dance: “Free,” Zac Brown Band
We wanted our reception to get everyone on the dance floor (Spruce has a breathtaking outdoor dance floor). Chad and I talk fondly of our memories together in college on the dance floor so that was very important to us. We played mostly new music from the radio: pop, rap, country- as long as you could dance to it- we wanted it! We stayed away from the typical songs because it was important to us that the songs reflected what we like to dance to. We even had a 90s throwback hour – where the DJ played songs we had pre-picked from our middle school/high school memories!

Boho Glam Wedding in Colorado

Bohemian Weddings

One of our favorite venue ideas for a wedding ceremony is the amphitheater — and Boulder’s Sunrise Amphitheater overlooks the city, making it the most perfectly romantic spot for Christine and Patrick to exchange their vows. They just celebrated their first anniversary, so we couldn’t think of a better time to share than today. Talented vendors Cyn Kain Photography, Calluna Events, and Cori Cook Floral Design collaborated to bring this duo’s vision to life for a day that included live music, breathtaking views, and a bit of boho glam flair.

From the bride, Christine: Patrick and I met in Boulder and this town has become a part of us and our story so it was an easy decision to decide to have our wedding in Boulder as well. Despite boasting 300 days of sunshine in Colorado, the weather can be fairly unpredictable. The infamous 500-year flood happened exactly one year before our wedding weekend, and we actually got a dusting of snow on the Friday before our wedding day, then magically… we woke up to a beautiful, sunny day to say our I do’s. And that’s the word I would use to describe our wedding day. Magical.

The weather could not have been more perfect for our ceremony at Sunrise Amphitheater overlooking the town of Boulder. A very good friend of ours and one of Patrick’s groomsmen added the the ultimate personal touch to our ceremony with an acoustic version of Bob Dylan’s “Make You Feel My Love.” The ballroom at the St. Julien was exceptionally beautiful with an amazing wall of light that brought so much warmth to the room and complimented the florals so perfectly. The music was a major focal point of the day for Patrick and I. We share a love of live music and wanted to do something different in that regard. We hired This Must be The Band and danced the night away to the music of the Talking Heads with our closest friends and family. It was unforgettable.

Favorite moment: Patrick actually told me the day after our wedding that the most emotional moment of the day for him was, surprisingly, the confetti toss – which instantly made it my favorite moment. It was truly overwhelming to be welcomed into our cocktail hour for our first dance to the excited and supportive cheers from all of our friends and family. We could literally feel the love surrounding us.

Fresh Wedding at Devil’s Thumb Ranch

Rustic Weddings

Devil’s Thumb Ranch in Colorado is one of those venues that always seems to churn out the most beautiful weddings, with a focus on rustic elegance and positively chic charm. When we saw the space accentuated by the talents of Laura Murray Photography, Events 306, and Cori Cook Floral Design, well it completely took our breath away! Brittany and Elliot’s wedding was certainly fun and full of love, just as they’d hoped for.

From the bride, Brittany: Elliot and I were really ambivalent about the whole wedding idea. The extravagance, attention, and cost was not something that either of us could imagine, but the idea of having everyone we love and care about in one place for a long weekend ended up being more than a dream come true. It was really important to us that our ceremony was personal and that it felt like us. Our friend Owen officiated, my godson and a wonderful family friend read, and all of our closest friends and family were standing by our sides. It rained in the morning but it cleared up just in time for our outdoor ceremony.

Events 306, Cori Cook Designs, Chain Station, Laura Murray Photography, The Paper Lady, Pink Monkey Solutions, Devil’s Thumb Ranch, Yours Truly Cupcake, Alex Cox, Stepahne Klasse, Just Basl Productions, Funkifphino. Intimate Brunch Wedding in Denver

Romantic Weddings

Photos by:

Julie Cate

I think photographer Julie Cate said it best when she summed up Caitlin and Simon’s wedding day: “It was a beautiful and simple affair filled with love.” There’s so much love to be seen in this wedding, it feels like it simply jumps out of the screen at times. The couple had an utterly serene ceremony in a park pavilion, surrounded by those who mean the most to them, followed by a restaurant reception with the yummiest food Denver had to provide!

intimate brunch wedding in Denver - photo by Julie Cate Photography http://ruffledblog.com/intimate-brunch-wedding-in-denver

From the bride, Caitlin: When Simon and I first started planning our wedding, one thing we both felt strongly about was that we wanted it to feel private and personal. I come from a large, wonderful family, and while the idea of a huge raucous wedding is thrilling for some (and definitely fun to attend!), planning an event like that left us feeling drained and a little sad, which was not how we wanted to enter the next chapter of our lives together! After some wistful Google searching for “beautiful courthouses” to elope to, and a more serious follow-up conversation, we decided to scrap our plans to get married in South Florida where I’m from, and instead looked westward. Believe it or not, my internet search (and the resulting wedding photography) lead us to Cheesman Park in Denver, Colorado. We were struck by the classic yet ethereal pavilion and its beautiful park setting, and we just knew that a relaxed but intimate ceremony in such a picturesque public space would feel more like “us”. Having both spent plenty of time in Colorado in the past, and with an aunt and uncle living in Denver, it was a destination wedding that felt like home.

I sometimes hear people talk about weddings as an opportunity for the bride to be a “princess for the day”, but we didn’t want to feel like we were playing a part on such an important day. We wanted it to feel special, yes, but not fake. Simon and I are both pretty un-fancy, and I think our wedding reflects our more relaxed tastes. We love brunch, nature, and our wonderful family and friends, and those three things were pretty much our guiding principals for the big day! The pavilion at Cheesman is so lovely it doesn’t really require any decoration, but the twig-back chairs and fresh-from-the-garden looking flowers helped bring the outside in. A local musician, Frank Lynn, did an amazing job, and walking in to The Beatles’ “Here Comes the Sun” on violin is a great memory. Most of all, it was the ceremony itself that made it such a fantastic day. Simon’s brother was his best man, and my sister was my matron of honor. My dad got ordained so he could marry us, and I couldn’t imagine him creating a more personal or touching ceremony. Two of our best friends did favorite readings from E.E. Cummings and Jonathan Safran Foer, and Simon and I exchanged vows we wrote together on my parents’ back patio. It couldn’t have been more lovely.

We followed up our ceremony with an amazing family-style brunch at The Kitchen in downtown Denver. Maybe I’m biased since we had our reception there, but I think they do phenomenal food, and their “community through food” philosophy is right up our alley. All together, 37 of our closest friends and family traveled from around the world to celebrate with us, with some of Simon’s family and friends coming all the way from England and New Zealand. With such a small group, we had plenty of time to enjoy our guests and really take in the day with them. All the great toasts, big laughs, beautiful flowers, delicious food… it was pretty much perfect, and definitely the celebration we had hoped for.

Soft and Romantic Colorado Mountain Wedding

Elegant Weddings

When it comes to knocking weddings out of the park, look no further than the team of Laura Murray Photography, Calluna Events, and Flora and Folly. Nicole and Alex’s wedding in the mountains of Colorado is romantic, elegant, and still relaxed — the perfect recipe for an unforgettable day.

soft and romantic Colorado mountain wedding - photo by Laura Murray Photography http://ruffledblog.com/soft-and-romantic-colorado-mountain-wedding

From the bride, Nicole: We knew we wanted to be married in the mountains of Colorado. We wanted a location that would show off the beauty of Colorado, yet be convenient for the majority of the guests who were traveling from all over the US. This made choosing Devils Thumb Ranch a very easy decision. We could hold a ceremony outside overlooking the mountain range, a reception in a beautiful barn, and all of our guests could stay on the ranch and spend the entire weekend with us.

I wanted a romantic and soft color palette to soften up the rustic atmosphere. We also wanted there to be several different types of textures involved by using varying types of greenery. The color palette was white, coral, peach, pink, and varying shades of green. We also used touches of gold throughout.

Bouquet recipe: Mostly round in shape but neither tight nor wild. Flowers included garden roses, dahlias, astilbe, scabiosa, mint & maidenhair fern. The bouquet had a white backdrop with several pops of bright pink/coral tones. It was wrapped with blush and lace ribbons. The lace ribbon was made from my grandmother’s wedding dress. My husband Alex loves ferns, which is why we chose to incorporate them in my bouquet. The other flowers are favorites of mine.

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? Stay true to yourself and your style. It is impossible to please everyone. Talk to your fiancé about what is really important to each of you and make sure that you stay focused on that throughout the planning process. I felt guilty because many of my family members from Ohio were not able to fly to Colorado for the wedding and I felt that this disappointed my parents. I thought they might have been happier if we chose a location closer to home. However, now having lived through that amazing day, I can’t imagine doing it any other way. It was exactly what we wanted. Colorado is so special to Alex and me. We chose the location for a reason. We threw a celebration that was truly us and I am proud of that. Our families had a blast and really just wanted to make sure we had the best day. I recommend doing engagement photos with your wedding photographer before your big day, despite how awkward you fear they may be. It’s a great way to get to know your photographer and to get the awkwardness out of the way. It’s like a warm-up for the big day. Do a first look! It is so much fun and allows you to enjoy more of your wedding day. It was such a good decision. We did our maid of honor and best man toasts at the rehearsal dinner the night before the wedding. We didn’t want them to be stressed the day of the wedding about having to make a speech in front of a large crowd of people. They were so thankful to be able to do it in a small intimate setting and to have it out of the way for the big day. It can be emotional and stressful for some people. We know how much they love us and didn’t feel the need to hear them say it in front of 100 people. Hire a day of coordinator if it is in your budget. This advice was given to us from our friends that were married. I am glad we listened to them.

Romantic Wedding at Spruce Mountain Ranch

Romantic Weddings

Photos by:

Cassidy Brooke

If there’s a team that knows how to throw one elegant affair, it’s Cassidy Brooke, Pink Diamond Events, and Garden Path. Katie and Markus’ wedding in Colorado is full of a variety of details we love, from the window pane ceremony backdrop to the cupcake dessert table. Really, strawberry cheesecake cupcakes — how could we resist?!

romantic wedding at Spruce Mountain Ranch - photo by Cassidy Brooke http://ruffledblog.com/romantic-wedding-at-spruce-mountain-ranch

From the bride, Katie: Markus and I met my freshmen year in college at Colorado State University after my sister and brother in law introduced us the first week of class. With mutual friends and a love for swing dancing we got to know each other better throughout that year. Then the following summer, Markus and I both went on a mission trip to South Africa and the rest is history. Two years later he proposed to me on the same campus where we met and so our life together began.

The inspiration for our wedding was “rustic romance with a hint of vintage” and we wanted a venue that could capture it all. Spruce Mountain Ranch became the perfect setting. The cattle ranch provided rustic wood buildings nestled alongside lush greenery perfect for pictures and a romantic ceremony. My love for thrifting quickly became the “hint of vintage” as antique windows hanging from a willow tree became the backdrop for our ceremony and antique centerpieces made up of vases, trinkets, lace, pearls, books, and pictures frames created the vintage feel.

Our biggest DIY project was definitely the centerpieces. Each of the twenty tables had different centerpieces of items that my mom and I found at various thrift stores in our hometown. Everything from cigar boxes, books, crates, and jewelry boxes held the vases with hydrangeas, ranunculus, garden roses, and baby’s breath. I love that no centerpiece was the same and my mom and I had a lot of fun rearranging all of the different elements! My sister (and matron of honor) was also a huge help in creating all of the table numbers and chalk signs with her hand lettering. We used picture frames and windows found at thrift stores, then backed them with chalkboard contact paper and used white chalkboard markers to do the lettering. Doing projects like these ourselves saved tons of money and added a personal touch.

Casey Brodley, Photographer

I’m not a traditional wedding photographer. My background and training is steeped in photo journalism, so that’s how I approach a wedding. My goal is to document the day, not stage it. I let moments unfold naturally, with minimal prom posing and minimal “say cheese” interference.

As a photo journalist, I come prepared for anything. Every wedding is different. I have witnessed full-grown men weep more times than I can count. I have seen smiles so wide that I’m concerned someone may burst a blood vessel. I have climbed mountains with all my gear. And this one time a sprinkler system was triggered during a ceremony.

As a wedding photographer, I walk into every job with the guarantee that I will witness pure joy. But more importantly, I walk into every job with the probability that my day will end with cake. I like to keep my cake-to-work ratio balanced. For health reasons.

Galactic Wedding with a Navy Bridal Gown

Wedding Design

If Vincent Van Gogh’s The Starry Night met with modern day weddings, I have no doubt this styled shoot from Candice Benjamin Photography and Lace + Lilies would be the result. The show-stopper here is the incredible Rebecca Taylor navy gown specked with silver sequins, which provides the perfect backdrop for a lovely anemone, air plant, and eucalyptus bouquet.

galactic wedding with a navy bridal gown - photo by Candice Benjamin Photography http://ruffledblog.com/galactic-wedding-with-a-navy-bridal-gown

From the photographer and stylist, Candice of Candice Benjamin Photography: The story of how the shoot came together is a simple one. I’m new to Northern Colorado and wanted to show a little un-traditional flair to my new state. I’ve always loved the idea of wearing a colored wedding dress, and wanted to show couples that just because it’s snowing doesn’t mean that you can’t hold a beautiful wedding.

Also, I’ve always been inspired by the galaxy, and feel like you can always find some sort of romance surrounding it. I dip-dyed napkins to remind me of the night sky, hung paper stars over the table, and we dressed the bride in a blue dress with what looks like shooting stars falling down the fabric. My favorite part of the shoot was done by Lace & Lilies. They took the idea of stars and translated that into using star-shaped air-plants in the bouquet.

Colorado Wedding Under the Supermoon

Romantic Weddings

What could be dreamier than marrying your love on the night of a supermoon? Bridgette and Hoyt did just that, bringing along the talented Sarah Rose Burns Photography, Feather & Twig, and Beet and Yarrow to make the day one to remember for ages to come. How wonderful is their paper doily ceremony backdrop?

Colorado Wedding Under the SuperMoon - photo by Sarah Rose Burns Photography http://ruffledblog.com/colorado-wedding-under-the-super-moon

From the bride, Bridgette: We envisioned a very romantic and rustic feel. We wanted it to be elegant and comfortable — charming, classic, collected. Our color scheme was sun bleached peach, pistachio, and champagne. DIY projects included hand-made doily and butcher twine garland, eclectic napkins, and the rustic lawn games.

From the photographer, Sarah Rose Burns Photography: This real wedding took place on the beautiful grounds of Lyons Farmette in Colorado this summer. The combination of vintage details designed by Feather & Twig, with the lush gardens and lively farmette, made for an incredibly enjoyable affair. Bridgette & Hoyt knew from the beginning that they wanted an intimate outdoor gathering, with stylish details and incredible food. Their team of vendors fulfilled all the requirements and the guests partied late into the night. Fun fact: it was the night of a “super-moon” so we also got some portraits in the moonlight.

Talented wedding venues galore came out to put together a styled faux wedding with a dip-dyed theme, which may just be one of our favorite trends right now! Let’s take a look at what came together, shall we?

River Bend Colorado Wedding

Bohemian Weddings

Photos by:

Our Love is Loud

Truth be told, I can’t even begin to count all the ways I love this wedding captured by Our Love is Loud with team Organically You Events and Bella Lu Floral. Paige and Dillon’s wedding took place under the Colorado trees in front of an aisle lined with antique rugs and enough twinkle lights to make your heart start swooning. Prepare to fall hard for this one, folks!

From the bride, Paige: My wedding was not something I ever thought about until I got engaged. The only thing I knew for sure was that I wanted it outside… the whole thing! I love the free spirited, bohemian look and tried to step outside of the box. I didn’t want anything to be overly “typical”.

Flower recipe: Oh man.. Flowers were the biggest part of my wedding! My bouquet was made of willow eucalyptus, pieris, burgundy ranuculus, bright pink spray roses, sword fern, blackberry twig, Queen Anne’s lace, purple kale, bay leaves and some pheasant feathers! My girls wore arm bands and they were all different. My flower crown and bouquet were absolutely amazing!

Boho, whimsical, and earthy or flower child-y (not even a word!) are probably the best ways to describe the look of my wedding. We did not have a color scheme. My bridesmaids’ dresses were a sage and my maid of honor wore a dark purple dress with a flower pattern! My mom created the sign directed people to their seats and also gathered a birds nest for the ring bearer. Other than that, we used a lot of etsy!

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? Try your very best to have fun and soak up every second of your engagement! It is a once in a lifetime experience and it shouldn’t be wasted stressing about the wedding! Also, do what you want to do and take everyone’s opinions with a grain of salt. I had to fight a few battles to get exactly what I wanted, but so happy I did!! Everything will fall into place.

From the photographer, Our Love is Loud: We recently shot an incredible wedding at a new venue in Lyons, Colorado called River Bend. Last fall a flood swept through Lyons, Colorado causing all kinds of damage to the land and community. River Bend was a venue by the river built during the restoration of the town. We think its one of the most beautiful venues in Colorado. Not only did this couple bring it with some killer style wardrobe wise, the details of both the ceremony and reception put on by Bella Lu Floral and others are incredible.

Urban Brunch Wedding Ideas

Wedding Design

About five seconds flat is exactly how long it took us to fall in love with this styled shoot from Ali Vagnini, Hey! Party Collective, and European Flower Shop. The shoot effortlessly blends modern wedding style with a reception full of delicious brunch goodies, including a delicious mimosa bar we wish we could have experienced first-hand!

From the shoot designers, Hey! Party Collective: The inspiration behind this shoot was to create a very bold and modern wedding, while showing the great urban backdrop that is the city of Denver — as an alternative to a “Rocky Mountain” wedding. This city has some great industrial and modern venues that can inject instant personality into a wedding, while still creating a beautiful aesthetic. We also wanted to work with an unexpected color palette, mixing both colors, textures, and patterns in an interesting way.

Ali from European Flower Shop made the huge greenery frame for the backdrop to the altar. We loved the contrast against the corrugated metal fence. The bride’s bouquet added the perfect pop of color to create the overall look. Also, we are obsessed with this cut-out wedding dress from designer Lovey by Isha. It really represents our philosophy of pushing the envelope, yet keeping it sophisticated.
