Grown Up and Elegant Pink Wedding

Elegant Weddings

Photos by:

Laura Ivanova

When your soon-to-be proposes to you in front of Cinderella’s castle at Disney World, it makes sense that you’d want to add some fairy tale elements into your wedding day in tribute. Laura Ivanova captured the wedding of Ashley and Jon, a couple who made sure their big day was totally infused with their personalities and loves. This included a heaping portion of pink blooms put together by Sadie’s Couture Floral & Event Styling, ranging from roses to anemones to the all-time wedding favorite, peonies.

Elegant Calhoun Beach Club Wedding - http://ruffledblog.com/elegant-calhoun-beach-club-wedding

From the bride, Ashley: We wanted the entire day to be a reflection of our personalities and our relationship. Jon has always been traditional and a bit old-fashioned, whereas I tend to like things that are trendy and unique, so our wedding was a combination of our two styles. We also kept things fun and playful by adding in details that were special to us. Jon proposed in front of Cinderella’s Castle in Disney World, so we had fun creating a bit of a fairy tale theme to go along with that; my Hayley Paige gown (I called it my princess dress) and our ‘happily ever after’ cake topper were two places you can see that. Additionally, we had both lived our entire lives in Minnesota but knew that we would be moving to New Orleans shortly after the wedding, so we tried to throw in some very Minnesotan details where we could to celebrate the state we love so much! Our venues were situated in our favorite spot on the lakes in Minneapolis, just blocks from our apartment building. Taking pictures on the beach where we had walked so many times before felt special and almost surreal. Jon and I are huge hockey fans and one of our favorite things to do together is go to Wild hockey games so my parents surprised us by having the Wild mascot show up during our cocktail hour. Having him there was a huge hit with guests and the pictures that we got are priceless!

Pink has always been my favorite color so it was an easy choice for my flowers. My parents also had a pink wedding 30 years ago and their marriage means so much to me, so I wanted to give a nod to that. I am proud that even as a medical student, I managed to plan and execute a lot of the wedding details on my own! Two projects that I am really proud of are the Mr. and Mrs. signs for the back of our chairs at the reception and the table of photos displaying our parents’ and grandparents’ wedding photos.

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? Have fun with the planning! Try to throw in little details that are unique to YOU! I think it’s great to find inspiration from other weddings online and in magazines, but at the end of the day you should look at your wedding day and be able to say that no one else in the world could have a wedding exactly like yours. The personal details will be the ones that stand out when you think back on your day.

Moss-Filled Michigan Wedding

Romantic Weddings

If you’re looking to get inspired by a wedding with a stunningly clean and green wedding palette, Agnes and Jeff’s Michigan wedding is it. Shot by MorningWild Photography, it’s got these whimsical and romantic details that had us wanting more and more. Rebecca from Ideal Events & Design sought to bring Agnes’s elegant woodland wedding ideas to life and it’s quite safe to say she achieved that goal along with Damsel Floral‘s unbelievably good centerpieces. Those glimmers of peach florals in the arrangements were the perfect touch of color!

From the planner, Rebecca from Ideal Events & DesignI was thrilled when Agnes reached out to me to work on her upcoming wedding to Jeff. As an art director, Agnes had a wonderful vision for their wedding day and I was thrilled to help bring her elegant woodland wedding to life. Agnes had already chosen a beautiful location, a private white barn at Bieker Farms, which is nestled between beautiful woodlands and an apple orchard, so we began working on securing the rest of her vendors and bringing together all of the elements of the day.

Of course the location was such a feature of the design for this wedding – Agnes wanted to highlight the woods that surrounded the property because she and Jeff often escape on weekends to family woodlands in Northern Michigan. Incorporating moss (collected from the family land) and ferns was a way to bring their life into the design elements. The bride and her friends spent a day creating the gorgeous moss covered sign to hang behind the bar and ferns were featured in the centerpieces by Damsel Floral. Agnes even created a fern logo to use throughout the wedding stationery.

As we began to build the day, it was always evident that Agnes and Jeff kept their guests at the forefront of their minds. They truly wanted everyone in attendance to feel part of their celebration – from ensuring polka music was played for her Polish family members to serving family style meals to encourage conversation – so many decisions focused on their family and friends. As the evening went on and the celebration lasted well into the night with late night pizzas and a sparkler send off for the newlyweds, I do believe their guests enjoyed every minute of it!

Country Mountain Wedding Inspiration

Wedding Design

Rugged and dainty is what we’d say if you asked us how to describe this beautiful Marcucci Photography wedding inspiration shoot. The mountains and the countryside are a wonder all on their own, and this shoot pulled together by Love by Lynzie Events centered around this peaceful landscape dazzled us even more. Flower 597 focused on the abundance of greenery in these parts and made the most impressive tablescape garland and bridal bouquet sweetly dotted with white fleurs. We can’t get enough of it or anything else in these shots!

navy blue suits - photo by Marcucci Photography http://ruffledblog.com/country-mountain-wedding-inspiration

From the event designer, Love by Lynzie Events: Our shoot is inspired by the wonder and rustic feel of being in the country and the mountains but with a modern twist. We brought together materials that are natural but not always associated with each other. With a colour palette of forest green, copper, marble, and wood, we sought out to bring warmth and a sense of edge to the beautiful all white barn. Nagham from Love by Lynzie created marbled paper for all the stationary and place cards with calligraphy by Cat’s Lettering. The luscious garland by Flower 597 that ran down the centre of the tablescape was embellished with copper painted fruit.

Our photographer Leanne Marcucci DIY-ed a scroll which was the perfect backdrop for our lounge. Our sweets and cakes by Crumb and Berry brought the whole theme together with hand painted ferns and green marbling. Our bride wore a sexy vintage inspired Anais Anette gown with gorgeous boho jewels from Spark and Thistle. We even had some very cute ponies come on set. Our loved putting together this shoot and really wanted to show brides how to mix the whimsy of an all white barn in the countryside with a little edgy trend.

Modern Downtown Savannah Wedding

Modern Weddings

Today’s wedding is hailing from the ever-beautiful Savannah, Georgia. When you have plenty of lovely sights and scenery in this town, it’s no wonder why Emily and Adam wanted to say their I Do’s here. Mackensey Alexander Photography captured the couple’s beautiful wedding day along with all of the very fine details with it. This warm-colored wedding adds such a heavy dash of sophistication and modernity, and what we love the most is that the couple came up with the design all on their own with Ivory + Beau helping them execute their vision.  They kept the color palette toned down and went for cool browns and soft neutrals, and then went bold with the flowers and enlisted Colonial House of Flowers for their skills. This elegant fête is one for the books!

savannah weddings - photo by Mackensey Alexander Photography http://ruffledblog.com/modern-downtown-savannah-wedding

From the bride, Emily: Adam and I wanted our wedding to feel like an intimate, joyful dinner with our friends and family. We wanted our wedding to feel formal yet understated, modern yet warm, and elegant yet relaxed. We wanted every moment to genuinely feel like us, and to reflect our joy. More than anything, we wanted to give our guests the opportunity to feel our love – both the love between Adam and me, and the love we have for all of them.

This is romantic lace wedding inspiration done right from beginning to end. Romantic Lace Wedding Ideas - photo by The Lockharts http://ruffledblog.com/romantic-garden-wedding-ideas

From the photographers, The Lockharts: When organizing this inspiration session, our vision was to create a romantic environment that embraces the organic beauty of nature. A garden setting was a must since it easily encompasses this dreamy, outdoor vision. Chandor Gardens in Weatherford, Texas not only created a gorgeous earthy scenery with its greenery and flowers, but the formal English accents, as well as ancient Chinese architecture made it into the picture-perfect romantic environment.

Whimsical Engine Room Wedding

Romantic Weddings

With a timeless color palette of pink, gold, and blue, it’s all but impossible to go wrong. Sarah and Branden embraced these colors on their wedding day in Georgia with Casto Photography & Cinema and Cote Designs, celebrating a love for each other surrounded by the most important people in their lives. This wedding has a bit of everything, so let’s jump on in!

whimsical engine room wedding - photo by Casto Photography http://ruffledblog.com/whimsical-engine-room-wedding

From the photographers, Casto Photography & Cinema: High school sweethearts Sarah & Branden envisioned a destination Georgia wedding celebrating their new life in the peach state while incorporating their love for their hometown in Maryland and love for the Baltimore Orioles (Branden is a pitcher for the Baltimore Orioles organization). They wanted to create a day that was both unique but would remain timeless. Incorporating the chippy brick walls of the venue, hints of copper, a bold color palette of blues and pinks, paired with sunlight streaming through the windows and classic pairings, Sarah & Branden’s wedding was truly one of a kind and a reflection of their sweet love.

Snow White Inspired Bridal Session

Wedding Design

Photos by:

Joanna Fisher

Today’s styled shoot can be summed up as “Snow White reimagined.” The team of photographer Joanna Fisher and designer Bleached Butterfly approached the famed fairy tale maiden with a modern twist, using a bold color palette of blue and red and adding in soft blush pink and pops of gold. The result? Well, it’s just about as romantic as it gets.

Snow White inspired bridal session - photo by Joanna Fisher http://ruffledblog.com/snow-white-inspired-bridal-session

From the photographer, Joanna Fisher: Inspired both by Grimm’s original fairytale Snow White, and by the modern spin on the story as interpreted by ABC’s Once Upon A Time, this Snow White inspired styled bridal is the culmination of so many industry creatives’ hard work and creativity. Styled by the talented Autumn Kramer of the Bleached Butterfly, her vision for the re-telling of Snow White is truly a modern fairytale. Soft blush and gold accents are elevated by the deep reds and blues of the decor and florals, bringing this story to life.

Our bride is wearing the elegant and whimsical “Severine” gown by Monique Lhullier, provided by the Plumed Serpent Bridal. Crowned with the delicate hairpiece and jewelry by Paris, the bride truly looks like she has stepped out of the pages of a storybook. Her vows, in the form of lyrics by Mumford and Sons, are presented on the Black Velvet ribbon by Silk and Willow, hand penned by Molly Shanahan, Calligrapher.

The cake, by Baked Desserts, bears the famous lines of the song from the Disney classic, “Someday My Prince Will Come”, and the theme is carried through in the beautifully penned love letters the bride holds. Showered in the words left behind by her elusive love, the image of our ‘princess’ standing in the midst of falling antique letters is one of the photographer’s personal favorites.

Al Fresco Beach Wedding in La Jolla

Beach Weddings

This gorgeous Tuscan inspired wedding created by Evangeline Lane Photography, First Comes Love San Diego and Organic Elements is nothing short of breathtaking. The touches of Italian influences throughout every part of this wedding will make you believe that it took place right in an Italian villa. From the gelato bar to the lush florals, this wedding is absolutely stunning.

Tuscan countryside inspired wedding in La Jolla - photo by Evangeline Lane Photography http://ruffledblog.com/tuscan-countryside-inspired-wedding-in-la-jolla

From the photographer, Sarah: We wanted a Tuscan daytime family style wedding. We wanted it to feel like we were at someone’s home. I used to live in Florence and spent a lot of time in Tuscany out in the countryside. It was important to recreate this feeling. The hotel was a perfect place to do that. We didn’t have a color scheme per se but we wanted natural colors and not one color to stand out.

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? We planned it in 6 months, it was perfect. Not too much time to stress. We also loved having it on a Sunday so we could enjoy the whole weekend with friends and family. I would highly suggest a Sunday wedding… We all went to the pool after and that night we just relaxed. I loved having it during the day because we got to be with all of our guests and have fun.

From the photographer, Evangeline Lane Photography: Sarah and Aristo have a love for all things Italy. While planning their La Jolla wedding, it was important to find a location that allowed us to create an intimate feeling of having your closest friends and family over at a private villa. We found the perfect setting in Estancia – the Olive Lawn felt like the Tuscan countryside with steps where the couple said their “I Dos.” In lieu of a wedding party the couple had the children enter before them – with flower wands and crowns. For the reception, we brought in a sheer chiffon canopy to shade the garden and adorned extra long tables with burlap table cloths topped with crisp white linens and etched glassware. Each place setting was completed with a menu with a place card clipped to it along with a sprig of fresh herbs. For florals, large footed bowls overflowed with greenery and flowers of all different colors and the end of the tables were capped with flower runners that reached the floor. To complete the theme, food was served family style, there was a gelato bar and of course plenty of Italian wines served tableside.

Everything about today’s feature wholeheartedly embraces the true spirit of a southern wedding. A family-style reception dinner, a choir singing “Oh Happy Day!,” and a classic bridal look are just some of the pieces that fit together to make Beth and Zack’s day a beautiful one to remember. Photos by Heart, Christina Sloan Events, and Studio Flower all worked together wonderfully here!

From the event designer and planner, Christina Sloan Events: A crisp, October evening and a gorgeous villa was the setting for Beth and Zack’s wedding. An intimate gathering of family and friends came together to celebrate the couple and was treated to an elegant, Southern-inspired family style meal and tons of gorgeous details, from the custom, hand-lettered mirror menu and place cards to the beautiful place settings.

Beth and Zack wanted an evening that treated their guests to Southern hospitality, full of elegant details and custom design, while still incorporating their fun personalities. As a surprise to her new groom and her guests, Beth arranged for the Birmingham Mass Community Choir to come out during the recessional with a cheerful rendition of “Oh, Happy Day.” From beginning to end, it was a day of love, celebration, good food, and gorgeous details.

Ethereal Chapel Wedding

Elegant Weddings

Bride Lindsey knew she wanted her wedding day to be both ethereal and classic, and her chosen color palette of green and white helped her achieve this goal. Jen House Design rocked the floral design, while The Compass Points Here captured everything to total perfection for a lifetime of memories!

From the bride, Lindsey: Pretty, ethereal, and classic. That is how I described my vision for our wedding to our florist and I think that is exactly how it turned out. Plus it was a day full of love and laughter which represents our relationship so very well.

We knew we wanted to get married in a church and were thrilled to find a place where the church, venue and accommodations are in one place. When we picked our venue, I knew we needed a subtle color palette and after a little debate I choose gold and white with a bit of green and blush mixed in. I’m so happy that I took a chance on white bridesmaids dresses because the girls looked like angels walking down the aisle. The boys looked incredibly dapper and classic in a tux sans vest with suspenders. My dress was chosen on the second try and I loved that Hayley Paige is a young female designer who truly understands what so many brides want to be on their big day.

We definitely were attracted to young wedding vendors and can’t say enough positive things about them. By the end of the day it felt like we had new friends celebrating with us. It was a dance party like none other. I am a believer in tiny details that have lots of meaning. For that reason I incorporated little things that meant a lot to my husband and I. I carried a broach on my bouquet that my grandpa gave to my grandma. I wore borrowed diamond studs from my other grandmother. We drank out of borrowed crystal champagne flutes. I gave my dad geese cuff-links as he has lovingly nicknamed me Goose since I was a little girl. We included wedding day photos from our family as a part of the decor. I had our florist write the bridesmaid’s names on the ribbons that tied their bouquets and the lyrics to our wedding song on mine. It all meant something on such a meaningful day.

Whimsical Retro Inspired Wedding

Wedding Design

Photos by:

Vanessa Velez

A retro inspired photoshoot with a color palette of blues and reds is just what the doc ordered for today, so we’re thrilled to share this beauty from Vanessa Velez, Soco Alicea, Rodri Studio. Loosely inspired by The Notebook, this shoot explores the imagined wedding between Allie and Noah with a lovely ceremony vignette and vintage inspired details aplenty.

From the photographer, Vanessa Velez: As an avid reader and total romance addict Soco Alicea planned this wonderful shoot inspired by the epic Notebook novel. While I had seen many shoots done with this idea, we had yet to find one that actually got inspired to create their what if wedding. So we decided we wanted to take it upon ourselves to actually create the magical wedding that would have been in the Notebook if the main characters had gotten to the altar on screen.

When our designer Rodri came on board he simply created magic and with the inspiration of the bicycles and the color scheme we came up with he created a creative and fun ceremony setup. We wanted to really incorporate the idea of the vintage feel and the water so we really worked with having a lot of details and colorful set ups that had the story embedded in each vignette. It was all about creating stories inside the story we where conveying on the shoot.

Sweet Ranch Wedding in Las Vegas

Romantic Weddings

Photos by:

Cara Robbins Studio

From time to time I fall deeply in love with a wedding, and that’s what happened when I laid my eyes on this one from Cara Robbins Studio and Destinations by Design. Zoe and James’ wedding was thoughtful, deliberate, and fearless in its approach to forgoing traditional expectations in favor of what would make them happiest and most comfortable.

sweet ranch wedding in Las Vegas - photo by Cara Robbins Studio http://ruffledblog.com/sweet-ranch-wedding-in-las-vegas

From the bride, Zoe: I knew from very early stages of planning that I wanted our wedding to be a celebration of love that honored the two of us and paid homage to my husband and I as individuals and reflected our sensibilities. We really wanted to lose every extraneous detail and focus on a minimal but extraordinarily beautiful event that would deliver our vision with precision. This meant that from the get-go we knew we wanted to skip some of the more traditional components of the classic wedding format that we felt were either antiquated, or didn’t feel substantive enough to be included in our ceremony.

white rose and peony bouquet - photo by Cara Robbins Studio http://ruffledblog.com/sweet-ranch-wedding-in-las-vegas
Flower recipe: I carried an all-white bouquet of white roses, white peonies, white hydrangeas, ranunculus, and baby’s breath. The bridesmaids carried blue hydrangeas, white peonies, blue thistle, baby’s breath, and blue anemones. All the men wore thistle as their boutonnieres including my dog who was the ring bearer, and my nephews who were flower boys.

I wanted to create an environment that was timeless, non-traditional, romantic, beautiful, and earthy, but that didn’t necessarily fit into a specific category, ie. rustic. I wanted a bohemian feel for our ceremony, with touches of whimsy and a feeling of earnest romance in every detail. The whole event took place outdoors so I wanted everything to blend into the desert landscape where the ceremony took place. Our Chupah was draped with heavy blue cloth and then adorned with blue and cream flowers and moss. We had a beautiful Turkish rug on the podium that we borrowed from my husband’s aunt, and I wore a braided halo with wildflowers in the back that attached to a floor-length veil. We had a make-your-own-mac+cheese bar and a taco bar for dinner. We wanted our wedding to be our ultimate party and we said f*** everybody else’s idea of what a wedding should look like! Best move ever on our part.

Our color scheme was dusty blue with accents of muted red. Each name tag and place setting was attached to a little air succulent which paid homage to the desert-ranch we got married at. There were little pieces of lavender tucked into each person’s place setting. Words to describe the look of our wedding would be romantic, bohemian, non-traditional, Jewish, timeless, down-to-earth, and minimalist.

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? Let go of any allegiance to tradition for the sake of tradition if it doesn’t serve a purpose in the greater scheme of your vision. My husband and I kind of fought to shake some of the traditions that we found antiquated and gendered. We chose not to be announced and not to do the Hora (very controversial!). I didn’t throw a bouquet and both my parents walked me down the aisle. I hated the idea of being “given away” as it seemed so anti-feminist to me. Because we only did things we wanted to do our celebration was amazing! It was all about the ceremony and then amazing food and dancing. We kept the formalities to a minimum and I think it was appreciated all around.

Wedding Music:
Wedding Party Processional: “In My Life,” The Beatles
Bride’s Processional: “Heartbeats,” José Gonzalez
Recessional: “Sprawl II,” Arcade Fire
First Dance: “Video Games,” Lana Del Rey
Father/Daughter Dance: “Wildflowers,” Tom Petty
Mother/Son Dance: “Sweet Baby James,” James Taylor

From the photographer, Cara Robbins: A little back story on Zoe and James, I actually photographed their siblings’ wedding a couple years back (believe it or not her brother is married to his sister!). Zoe and Moria (James’ sister) met at summer camp years ago and sort of decided that they were going to marry each others brothers, and some how that actually happened!! You’ll have to get the full story from Zoe but can you believe that? Together the boys own Ventura Sprits, a small distillery in Venutra, CA and Zoe is a doula/birthing coach. Together they live in downtown LA in a beautiful loft where we actually did their engagement photos. They got married out at James’ aunt’s ranch just on the outskirts of Las Vegas. When they first approached me about this I wasn’t so sure about a Las Vegas wedding but boy was I wrong! This ranch was absolutely amazing and made for a perfect and very personal backdrop for their wedding (there was even a mini horse!). The property itself has so many great details and they just wanted to bring a really fresh and simple vibe to the decor. One of my favorite parts was that dinner was served on farmhouse tabled that were positioned between a mini orchard of fruit trees (just wait til you see this)! They had beautiful table decor and little gifts for each guest – air plants – as escort cards. Cocktail hour was hosted right next to this amazing oasis pool and guests got to drink cocktails made with the alcohol that James and Henry make! The wedding party was large and mixed, they really didn’t want to make it only brides maids and groomsmen so there were boys and girls on both of their sides and the girls got to wear mixed dresses that were stunning against the desert background. Zoe’s amazing ring was actually James’ mothers and the two of them are all about family (check out the super cute flower boys and their adorable flower crowns). Also at the end of the night James surprised Zoe by covering Can’t Feel My Face by the weekend and serenading her!

Stylish and Light Fall Wedding

Modern Weddings

While we love our dark and moody color palettes for autumn, we absolutely adore that this couple took a brighter and airy approach to their fall wedding. Cheery reds, light pinks, and crisp whites all come together for Abby and Tommy’s beautiful day, which was pulled off with the help of wonderful vendors including Sara & Rocky Photography, A Vintage Affair Events & Rentals, and Park Floral Design.

stylish and light fall wedding - photo by Sara and Rocky Photography http://ruffledblog.com/stylish-and-light-fall-wedding

From the event designers, A Vintage Affair Events & Rentals: This delightful and gorgeous wedding featured a bright and bold color palette using a colorful red, blush, gold, and ivory as the main colors. The colors were able to pop out against the blank canvas that is Blanc while seamlessly harmonizing with the greenery around the venue to create an organic yet vibrant feel. The couple decided they wanted to carry over their initials from their invitations to the wedding itself. In order to do this they enlisted the help of Lighting and Design by Scott to create marquee lights of their initials and an ampersand. The marquee lights created a unique and modern backdrop to their ceremony, as the couple stood in front of the lights for their special moment.

On their way down the aisle the handsome and might we say adorable ring bearers carried “hip hip” and “hooray” flags. Though only a small detail, the bride loved this idea so much she chose to have the flags recreated as mini drink stirrers so guests could enjoy them with their beverages. Abby and Tommy’s ceremony was incredibly heartwarming as both of their dads officiated it. Tommy’s dad began so that Abby’s dad could walk his daughter down the aisle and then take a minute to soak it all in before concluding the ceremony. It was so personal and so lovely, everyone was smiling from ear to ear the entire time. Showing off their bright and fun personalities, when the ceremony finished, instead of turning around and walking down the aisle, they made their way back in style… by dancing down the aisle.

To carry on the theme of the ampersand, Tommy and Abby used handmade ampersand magnets to hold guests’ watercolor place cards. These magnets then doubled as the couple’s favors. The reception room was filled with beautiful wood tables which were adorned with lovely wild, loose, textural arrangements to keep the feeling more organic. There was also seasonal fruit to complete the look which tied in the overall farm to table ambiance the couple wished to design. Seasonal blooms like dahlias were brought in to correspond with the beginning of the fall season! The florist also used Vining greens in order to “connect” the tables and make the room feel more integrated and natural. For dessert guests enjoyed a s’mores flavored cake made by the bride’s friend. They also had ice cream sandwiches served on an adorable pink bike.

Vintage Wedding at Gramercy Park Hotel

Vintage Weddings

All you vintage-loving brides out there, listen up. This wedding (from the incomparable team of Lev Kuperman and Violet and Verde) is where it’s at. Gramercy Park Hotel in New York City was the absolute perfect venue to complement the couple’s vision, and these high school sweethearts ended up with a wedding for the ages!

vintage wedding at Gramercy Park Hotel - photo by Lev Kuperman http://ruffledblog.com/vintage-wedding-at-gramercy-park-hotel

From the florist, Bridget of Violet and Verde: Melanie was an absolute dream to work with. She was, by far, the most upbeat, sweet, and happy bride and with Mitchell, having been a couple since high school, they were just perfect together and complemented each other so well. They had a clear vision from our first meeting of what they wanted for florals – shades of pinks, reds, and whites without looking too holiday and using a more vintage aesthetic to complement the beautiful venue.

We chose anemones, peonies, ranunculus, roses, paper whites, cosmos and sweet peas to fill the bouquets and tables. Brass lanterns, mercury glass vases, and vintage votives and bottles lined the tables with more flowers placed throughout the tables. Each place setting was adorned with a single colorful bloom for guests. Lush vines and foliage paired with assorted lanterns created a romantic backdrop to their rooftop ceremony. It was truly a beautiful day for such a wonderful couple!

Relaxed Brunch Wedding in Florida

Garden Weddings

Nothing beats the combination of my two favorite things, brunch and weddings. Sara and Jon’s wedding was full of unbeatable sunlight, lots of good eats, and plenty of smiling faces — just as it should be. An incredible team of vendors pulled this day together, including Emily Katharine Photography, Oh So Classy Events, Andrea Layne Floral Design, and Ever After Vintage Weddings!

relaxed brunch wedding in Florida - photo by Emily Katharine Photography http://ruffledblog.com/relaxed-brunch-wedding-in-florida

From the photographer, Emily Katharine Photography: Sara and Jon’s love is one for the record books. These two are bright, playful, and filled with joy. They are best friends – and it is so clear that they are about to embark on a journey filled with love. Sara and Jon’s wedding took place at Lakeside Ranch in Inverness, Florida. The day started off foggy, but it burned off as the day continued. Sara and Jon wanted their wedding to really be about them. Neither of them felt compelled to dance the night away – so they opted for a brunch wedding (just throwing it out there – I’m a huge fan!). They shared the sweetest first look. Jon had the biggest smile on his face and gave Sara a huge hug.

Sara’s bouquet was beautiful! Created by Andrea Layne Floral Design – it was a piece of art. One of the ribbons wrapped around the bouquet was from Sara’s grandmother’s wedding dress – do you see the buttons? Their ceremony took place at 11:00. Designed by Ever After Vintage Weddings, wooden stumps with candles, lanterns, colored glass, and flowers lined the aisle. A macramé curtain was the backdrop for the ceremony. The wedding party made their way down the aisle, Sara’s brother walked Buddy, their dog. Sara made her entrance on a green vintage truck. Her dad proudly accompanied her down the aisle, carrying her late-mother’s Bible.

Their ceremony was short and sweet. At the end of the wedding, the officiant told Jon he could kiss his bride – everyone cheered. Then, the officiant announced, “Sara, you may not kiss your groom!” and the group cheered again. It was too sweet. Brunch drinks were enjoyed during cocktail hour and the guests made their way to the barn as Bay Kings Band serenaded the group. Guests found their seat (and their party animal) at farm tables covered in lanterns and colored bottles – brimming with flowers. The wedding ended with a beautiful bubble send off as we all wished the newlyweds well.

Modern Day Juliet Wedding Inspiration

Wedding Design

Autumn is only two days away, and we think there’s no better time to share this inspiration shoot with its pops of marsala than right now! Marsala has been quite the hit this year since it was announced as Pantone’s color of 2015, and we think it’s going to experience its best success in gorgeous wedding landscapes for fall — in fact, this shoot from Jennifer Sosa Photography, Pursue Love Design Co., and Milieu Florals proves it!

modern day Juliet wedding inspiration - photo by Jennifer Sosa Photography http://ruffledblog.com/modern-day-juliet-wedding-inspiration

From the event designer, Caroline of Pursue Love Design Co.: Inspired by the beauty of imperfect vintage rusted iron rod doors, chippy paint and patina, we created vignettes of a modern day Juliet in an intimate setting of a gated vintage secret garden. In creating the color palette for this shoot, the colors are romantic, moody and dramatic, bringing attention to the graceful presence of our modern day Juliet and her quiet meditation prior to her wedding day. When designing this shoot, I found inspiration from the colors of aging, imperfect, chipping vintage pieces and metals and mixed them with eclectic textures and a color palette of marsala with pops of color.

The beauty and essence of this shoot was captured beautifully by the talented Jennifer Sosa Photography, who truly created vignettes of drama and romance with movement and light. Hannah Koo of Milieu Florals crafted uniquely curated floral pieces to bring our vintage secret garden altar and tablescape to life. Calligraphy pieces were gorgeously handwritten in elegant fonts in marsala by Alley & Co. Lastly, our modern day Juliet was dressed in dreamy, ethereal bridal dresses by Saja Wedding, adorned with gorgeous headpieces by Untamed Petals and beautifully styled in 2 dramatic and stunning hair and makeup looks by the ladies of E2beauty.

Camping Wedding at Half Moon Bay

Romantic Weddings

Photos by:

Braedon Photography

Today’s wedding is a camping lover’s dream, full of lush greenery, rustic wooden elements, and an intimate celebration that just about knocks our socks off. Kristen and Christian’s wedding is brimming over with so much love and joy that we’ve had just about the most difficult time ever narrowing down these images for you, due in no small part to the wonderful work of Braedon Photography.

camping wedding at Half Moon Bay - photo by Braedon Photography http://ruffledblog.com/camping-wedding-at-half-moon-bay

From the bride, Kristen: We envisioned our wedding as a larger version of what we love to do most, which is camp along the coast with friends and family. That included an outdoor ceremony, dinner, dancing, and camping all in one place, and avoiding the curfew and late-night drive home that often occur at weddings. This seemed like a tall order at first, but pretty early in our venue search we discovered OVY Camp + Event Center which was pretty much the perfect spot for what we imagined! The camp has a redwood grove, outdoor amphitheater, main hall with a stone fireplace and exposed rafters, fire pits, and tiny log cabins.

Flower recipe: I left almost all the decision making to our super intuitive and tasteful florist, Lover Bee Botany. My few suggestions included eucalyptus, ranunculus and scabiosa, so those were all there, and she added lots of other green-and-white magic with green-centered anemones, ferns, and some wild grasses. She was a genius with the whole thing.

We also felt it was important to keep the whole thing true to who we are, so rather than outsource planning we did it ourselves, and recruited a bunch of our (very talented) friends for everything from bartending and DJ-ing to helping with decor, playing music, and being our day-of coordinator. It all ended up being that much more fun, and we wouldn’t trade that decision for anything else. Inspired by the landscape and campout, we created a woodsy feel using lots of greenery, raw-edged wood, white linens and candles, crocheted and plaid blankets, and baskets full of sparklers and s’mores sticks. We kept most things simple, including the color scheme (it was all neutrals and greens) and dishware, and put more energy into the lighting, amphitheater ceremony backdrop, and leafy florals.

One favorite element was our wedding-night camp setup: we found this awesome Sibley yurt tent, and our friends and family helped us do it up with bedding, lights, flowers, and even our own tiny bottle of Limoncello. I also enjoyed some of the smaller details: the leather sandals I made for myself, “Camp Morabito” sugar cookies our coordinator baked as a surprise, and the canoe cake topper we found on Etsy. For the reception, we made a botanical seating chart using a big wooden frame we made, tiny clothespins, and foraged rosemary sprigs, and made all the signage ourselves. I also made about a million of these paper clay barnacles with the help of my endlessly patient and helpful friends. They were clustered along the long dinner tables with glass tea lights, leafy table runners and simple painted wooden table numbers. My mom and her friends also made hand-knitted cowls for all my bridesmaids, Christian’s grandma and aunt did up the bathrooms with candles and sweet decorations, another grandmother made their family-recipe Limoncello to serve with dessert, and my sister infused all the alcohol that was served in the cocktails—all of which was incredibly special!

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? We tried hard to keep the whole process fun and personal. Involving friends and family in so many ways definitely made that happen, and Christian reminded me at stressful moments that it should be fun! Also, while it’s great to have a vision, remember to sometimes be surprised by the way things often come together; unexpected moments can be the most memorable, and if something doesn’t perfectly it’s usually not important anyway. Focus on the fun and friendship!

Glam Handcrafted Virginia Wedding

Romantic Weddings

Photos by:

Kaytee Lauren

Our wedding for today was a true family affair. It took place on the groom’s family’s property, and both sides pitched in to ensure a carefully curated and stress-free day. Kaytee Lauren and Ballenger & Co Florals were a team to remember working on photography and floral design respectively!

From the bride, Christine: The location of our wedding was of special significance to us, because it’s Joel’s family home. Two of his other siblings have been married on the property, and it has been so fun to see how each family wedding has been so distinct, yet still so familiar and sweet. The best part of the wedding preparation process was both of our families. Since the wedding was taking place on the family property, everyone was pitching in. Have family everywhere meant that I never had to stress about things getting done, there was always someone was on top of it. I couldn’t have asked for a more supportive family to help us achieve our dream wedding.

Joel and I spent about a week at our brother and sister in-law’s house working on decorations. We scraped, cleaned, and spray painted all of the gold bottles. All of my DIY projects were fun and exhausting. My mother, who is a professional graphic designer, designed the programs and menus. It was fun spending time with her getting the look just right. Joel and I spent hours and hours cutting each program into a circle, gluing them to a stick, and applying gold leaf.

The food was really important to both of us. We decided to forgo the traditional chicken or steak dinner for something that reflected our personalities. Shortly after Joel and I first started dating, we became Eggs Benedict connoisseurs. Throughout our relationship, we’ve hunted Eggs Benedict wherever we go. Before we go on any trip we Google search “the best Eggs Benedict” in that area and go out of our way to get it, so we decided to do breakfast for dinner. The catering company, Savoir Fare, told us they were so excited to be catering a wedding that wasn’t chicken or steak! They loved the breakfast for dinner idea and jumped on board creating a fabulous spread. Joel doesn’t like sweets so we opted out of a traditional wedding cake and served waffles for dessert.

It’s all but impossible to think of a dreamier destination for a photography workshop than Tuscany. Today we’ve got photographer Nadia Meli‘s images to share from The Love Affair Workshop, where numerous vendors were able to create stylish scenes, network, and enjoy breathing some irresistible Tuscan air. The Blue Carrot also blew us away with their effortless floral arrangements!

From the photographer, Nadia Meli: The Love Affair Workshop has taken place for the first time last March in a stunning venue in Tuscany, a little typical Borgo. It was a great experience where photographers, flower and wedding designer have learnt new things but also shared time and created networking.

Elegant Garden Wedding with Vintage Rentals

Romantic Weddings

When your mother owns a successful vintage rental company, Revive Vintage Rentals, it’s all but a guarantee that your wedding is going to be extra special. Carly and Jacob’s wedding was filled to the brim with beautiful details, bright floral decor, eye-catching calligraphy, and of course, the most perfect vintage rentals. No one could do this wedding better justice than Jessica Scott Photography and Fresh Urban Flowers!

Elegant Garden Wedding with Vintage Rentals - photo by Jessica Scott Photography http://ruffledblog.com/garden-inspired-wedding-with-vintage-rentals

From the bride, Carly: Our first decision was to have the wedding at my family’s ranch near Stonewall, Texas. The ranch belonged to my grandfather and his brothers and now it has been passed down through the family. It was such a blessing to get married on land that meant so much to me and my family. My mom and I did all designing and planning, and throughout the process we wanted an Elegant Organic Garden Party feel – full of pretty details, but still an intimate family affair.

Flower recipe: Some of the flowers that we used: poppies, garden roses, anemone, parrot tulip, ranunculus, rose, peony, dahlia. We wanted to do something a little different for the bridesmaids, so instead of traditional bouquets, we decided to tie floral arrangements onto antique books. We spent months tracking down antique copies of my bridesmaids’ favorite books and Sarah, with Fresh Urban Flowers, made perfect arrangements to complement the books.

My mom is a talented designer, and together we dreamed of what we called a modern, organic garden party. We used poppy red and jadeite green as a color scheme with gilded gold accents. We spent about a year searching Texas antique stores for vintage jadeite pieces and vintage mirrored trays (the kind that women once used on their dressing tables), which we used as centerpieces on some of the tables. On the reception tent walls, my parents installed stained pallet walls where we hung canvas and vintage European style mirrors and frames. Whitney Farnsworth, our calligrapher, did beautiful work writing some of our favorite verses and quotes on the mirrors. We also installed living walls with ferns surrounding the reception tent – we loved the idea of incorporating lush green ferns into the wedding decor.

My mom and I also spent all year collecting vintage books in the jadeite green and gold colors that were used on the tables. We added the poppy color with hand-dyed crochet table runners to our vintage farm tables. Due to the high chance of rain, we had to use a tent for the main reception area. We still wanted to extend the space to incorporate the land, so we placed our dance floor outside of the tent and added vintage seating areas outside from Revive Vintage Rentals. Additionally, we built three 20 foot tall rebar trees that gave the outdoors area lighting and a unique architectural element. The week of the wedding, floods and tornados almost took out the reception tent and many of the details we built, including the living fern walls. While all of these projects took a lot of time, it was so fun to be able to work together with my family and Jacob to hand-create details for the wedding.

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? From the beginning of wedding planning, decide what details and elements of your wedding are important to you and what is lower on the priority list – it makes it much less stressful for you and the people helping you. I knew that photography, paper products (our beautiful invitation suite was designed and painted by Whitney Farnsworth), and the decor details were a priority to me. This is also true for between the bride and groom – talk about what elements are important to each of you and make it a priority to incorporate personalities into your day. And lastly, enjoy the planning process. Although it can be stressful and overwhelming, it is a special time for you and your family to create something beautiful.

Wedding Music:
Our ceremony was held on a hilltop at my family ranch with a fantastic view. We wanted the songs to cause people to look out and enjoy and marvel at God’s creation. Jacob plays cello at his church, so we asked the rest of the guy he plays with to come play for the ceremony. The instruments included a guitar, french horn, and a mandolin, which was unconventional but perfect.

Al Fresco Vintage Wedding in California

Brittany and Sean are both graphic designers who love vintage style, so it seems natural their wedding day would be a winner all around. Still Music Photography and Mountain Laurel were brought on board to bring their vision to life, and what a job they did! One of our favorite details is that the couple had a projector playing black and white films in the backyard during the reception — such a great idea.

From the bride, Brit: I grew up in the foothills, and Sean grew up in San Diego but fell in love with the natural beauty and peace of my hometown so we knew we wanted to get married outside in Northern California. We started out with what we wanted the wedding to feel like and then went from there. We are both graphic designers and love vintage style — so we wanted the style to be classic and romantic, but still have really fun elements that made it personal.

Flower recipe: My bouquet had anemones, roses, eucalyptus leaves, privet berries, dusty miller, and poppy and other seed pods. The bridesmaids were mostly lavender roses with loads of greenery (eucalyptus leaves and dusty miller) that cascaded down. The bouquets were the only florals we had professionally done, but my mom adding finishing touches to them, including wrapping long satin ribbons around the bases and adding buttons from my grandmother’s wedding dress (buttons my great-grandmother had made) to my bouquet.

We didn’t have a theme, but we knew we had to be careful so that it didn’t get too country since it was outdoors and there was a barn involved… so we made sure everything aside from the barn leaned more toward the sophisticated, fun side. I wanted everything to be soft. We got married in the fall and it was GORGEOUS out — the leaves were turning, but everything was golden and full still, so the colors were all pretty neutral shades of grey, nude, and pink so that we fit into the scenery without competing with it. We were on a budget, but are also both really creative and crafty, so we were excited to design and create all of the elements of the wedding from the save the dates to the drink tags, to the cookie bar signage. Sean & I designed all of the invitations, signage, and finishing touches and we had a huge amount of help from my mom who collected, constructed and styled a lot of the decorative elements at the wedding including the floral arrangements, vintage furniture, and centerpieces.

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? There is going to be a lot of noise from everyone else on how your wedding should be, but do what you both want to do: make it you! The biggest compliment we received was people saying it felt like us and was so personal, and that’s what it should be. I listened to all the advice and suggestions, but ultimately went with what we both wanted and we are so happy we did.

Wedding Music:
This was another thing we both sat down and did together and had a lot of fun with! Sean is a big punk fan and I am a big jazz fan, so we had fun making the playlist. Originally, we had planned another song for our recessional, but I had a surprise planned for Sean: he’s a huge Star Wars fan (Huge!) so I asked the DJ to play the Throne Room song from the original Star Wars. He flipped. I told Jeremy what I had planned and he got a great shot of Sean realizing what was playing while we were walking out.

Bow Tie Inspired Wedding Shoot

Wedding Design

Today’s styled shoot is inspired by modern decor, black and white styling, and of course, bow ties. Pinks, yellows, and greens shine against the black and white foundation, and Jenn Finazzo Photography knocks it out of the park not only behind the camera, but also as the stylist, florist, and cake designer. Talk about a quadruple threat!

From the photographer, Jenn Finazzo Photography: Although I ripped the name straight from Justin Timberlake himself, I think he would be proud. And he would look GREAT in our chocolate bow tie. Too bad he wasn’t available. The true inspiration behind this shoot was the black and white decor of the venue in Charlottesville, VA. It immediately got me thinking of the Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami. The signature Morris Lapidus bow tie tiles in the lobby quickly became the next inspiration. The bow tie design is featured all around the FB hotel. In the artwork, tiles, napkins and the delicious brownies in the coffee shop. Once we got our hands on the dark and white chocolate brownie bow ties it was game-time.

Our favorite bridal shop was having a Charlie Brear trunk show that week. While I love all of their designs, I immediately fell in love with the tea length number. It was going to go amazingly well with the stunning Emmy London Francesca heels. To die for. The shoot was coming together. Both UK based designers were on board! It took all I had not to log on and track these delicious Francesca shoes at every moment as they arrived from London. They arrived on time with a sweet note from the designer herself. What a nice touch.

Now, for the color. I knew I wanted to throw a pop of color in with the black and white. The vintage mustard yellow ribbon from Etsy shop, Planstar was the next vision. It went extremely well with the beautiful velvet hot pink Mrs. Box provided by Suz Somersall. Also from Suz, the Deco Ring, The Rope Crystal Edwardian Cuff, and the Pearl Gemma Drop Earrings. Then came the roses. The garden roses. The David Austin garden roses. Ahh! I have a secret love for florals and really wanted to design them myself. From the green hanging amaranthus and jasmine to the black and white anemone, these gorgeous florals were lighting up my house for days before the shoot! Not to mention the 20 feet of lush garlands made of Ivy, Springerii, jasmine and variegated pittosporum. The cake was also made by me. A white chocolate mosaic design on the outside topped with the white bow tie chocolate and dusty rose Turkish delight. I love how the colors on the cake contrast with our model’s hot pink lipstick in the “second look” shots.

Palm Springs Wedding for a Creative Bride and Groom

Whimsical Weddings

Photos by:

Laura Goldenberger

Laycee and Jon’s wedding is so chock full of great design it’ll make your head spin. The creative couple (the bride is a designer while the groom is a cinematographer) had their hands all over the day, right down to the creative Save-the-Date video you’ll see at the very end. Laura Goldenberger and next saturday affairs did remarkable work on this one, as always!

Palm Springs wedding for a creative bride and groom - photo by Laura Goldenberger http://ruffledblog.com/palm-springs-wedding-for-a-creative-bride-and-groom

From the bride, Laycee: We love the mid Century modern style of our venue Frederick Loewe Estate. The architecture has clean lines, geometric sculptures, design books with large Swiss typography, etc, which is all a cohesive design language used throughout our wedding. The surroundings of the venue is an expansive and beautiful desert-chic landscape. We used this contrast between geometry and organic shapes on everything from our invitation, place cards to welcome signs. We thought that this contrast creates more energy and interest rather than the hand-written, DIY look a lot of other weddings have.

All the napkins and table runners were hand-made from a few different geometric patterned fabric we chose. All the table numbers were house numbers from home depot, spray painted gold. The little geometric shapes holding up the name cards were made from clay, cut into unique shapes and baked in the oven to harden. Quite a few of the geometric shaped terrariums were made from 90s lamps, with the light bulbs and cords removed. The 2 white columns with the clear casing on top at our altar were also custom made. I designed our own letterpress wedding invitation, all the place cards, name cards, welcome signs and all other collaterals. The wedding favors were designed by me as well: a pair of letter press coasters in black and white, with gold patterns. Our Save the Date was a collaboration between Jon and I. I design for a living and he produces video for a living. This piece is a perfect example of the magic we create together, and a “making of” teaser of the real wedding invitation.

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? I think the trick to planning a great wedding is to have a clear vision of your design aesthetic or theme from the get-go and stick with it throughout. Not to say everything needs to look the same, but if there’s a central theme threading everything together, the entire look will be cohesive. Changing minds about the look will often create disjointed experiences and confuse yourself as well. Also, do as much as you can but not over commit. Spend your money on the most important things like the venue and catering. It’s totally okay to let some of the smaller things go. They won’t have as big of an impact to your wedding as the venue and catering will.

Chic Warehouse Wedding in Brooklyn

Romantic Weddings

Photos by:

Pat Furey

As soon as I heard the description “chic warehouse wedding in Brooklyn,” I was sold. Then I saw the work put together by all-stars Pat Furey, Bespoke Only, and Ariel Dearie Flowers, and I was completely blown away. Meredith and Billy wanted an intimate celebration with an industrial but welcoming vibe, and everything was topped off perfectly with a mix of fuchsia peonies and white anemones.

From the event designers and stylists, Bespoke Only: With a winter wedding in New York, Meredith and Billy always knew that they wanted something that not only feels warm and lively, but truly embraces the spirits of an inviting and intimate celebration. With the concept in mind, a sophisticated gathering was born at a warehouse turned venue that comes with both a stunning water view and an unique industrial interior vibe. We carefully curated the event with details that speak to both of the couple’s backgrounds and loves.

Inside of the raw and cool space, hanging cafe lights and generous amount of candlelight together provided a festive ambient lighting that warms up the exposed brick walls and expansive floor space. Exquisite and elegant, the head table was set apart by a vintage style farm table adorned with ample pale wooden pillar holders. A array of tables in mixed shapes brought interests to the floor layout, while deep champagne linen with jeweled toned of floral tied the entire scene together harmoniously without feeling overly matched. A large chalkboard that highlights the couple’s signature cocktails welcomed the guests by the entrance, while one gestural flowering quince arrangement hinted the coming of a new season as well as life. The ethereal ceremony had an altar that was graced by puddles of sequin runner and abundance of tea lights. When the night got late, a s’mores station was set up by the open fireplace, which made the most perfect concluding note for a night that was nothing short of warmth and togetherness.

Romantic Organic Wedding at Elysian LA

Wedding Design

When you blend romantic and urban styles, beautiful things can happen — just look to this styled shoot from Erin J Saldana, Etablir, and The Flower Lab for proof. Shades of aqua, gold, and green dance together and make the most eye-catching symphony, while a mix of roses and anemones top off the look with inspiring floral design.

From the event stylist, Vivian of Etablir: The inspiration for the photo shoot was based off of the love for a beautiful garden I visited in Paris called the Jardin du Luxembourg. Since then I have always envisioned a glasshouse inspired wedding in a Paris type garden setting. With that said, I teamed up with a group of talented vendors and created a hybrid of our styles for this dreamy wedding styled shoot. It seems to be a great juxtaposition between romantic and urban. There is a great aesthetic when combining the two! Beautiful detailed garden and dress design among eclectic industrial urban lifestyle.

Love at First Sight Anniversary Session

Wedding Design

Photos by:

Lucy Munoz

What’s sweeter than the idea of a love at first sight anniversary session? Lucy Munoz Photography teamed up with The Blooming Bud and Thrifted Sister Vintage for a session celebrating Anthony and Jasmine’s love for each other, sending them back in time to the moment they first laid eyes on each other. How much of a stunner is Jasmine’s Marchesa Notte gown?

From the photographer, Lucy Munoz Photography: For some couples it really is love at first sight. Anthony felt this way the first time he laid eyes on Jasmine. For this Coup De Foudre (love at first sight) shoot we teamed up with amazing vendors to create a special anniversary session for Anthony and Jasmine. We wanted them to remember the first time they laid eyes on one another — their feelings, their emotions — everything! Our vision was to create a perfect little place where they could reminisce about those first moments. These pictures tell the story of a time when your heart, well, sort of just melted for someone.

We used a gold Marchesa Notte gown that was layered in tulle and had a soft delicate look. Thrifted Sister Vintage used beautiful pieces that complemented the natural landscape. Yolanda Hair and Makeup used a soft palette to bring out Jasmine’s natural features and created a loose updo that wasn’t overly fussy. The invites and stationary were created by Megan Kelso who always does amazing work. We just can’t get enough of her custom pieces! The Blooming Bud created the gorgeous florals with such love and joy. When putting together these special Coup De Foudre sessions we pay attention to so much detail. We want them to be unique and full of details.

Handmade Utah Wedding at a Pink Cottage

Vintage Weddings

A short lace wedding dress sewn by your mother and marrying your beau outside a little pink cottage — does it get better than this? Brooke Schultz Photography, Charming Details, and Flower Afternoon put together some of their best work to bring us Kendra and Jeff’s wedding day, which is full of sweet little details but still intimate enough to feel like a heartfelt get-together among friends.

From the photographer, Brooke Schultz Photography: Kendra and Jeff wanted their wedding day to be completely relaxed, without stress so they could drink in every moment. So, they opted to have the reception the day before! They filled their wedding with sweet, handmade details, like Kendra’s wedding dress sewn by her mother, the ‘love you always’ patch added by Kendra on the back of Jeff’s tie, and the guestbook hand painted by the bride’s sister.

Kendra + Jeff found the perfect venue in This is The Place’s Brigham house, an adorable pink cottage with a gazebo fit for dancing. Vintage with a modern twist, Emmily with Charming Details and Val with Flower Afternoon created an old door backdrop prettied up by a floral garland. Guests took photos for the guest book in front of it and it did double duty for some beautiful bride and groom portraits as well. Despite the fact that it rained cats and dogs both days of their wedding celebration, they weren’t bothered and let themselves truly enjoy their wedding.

Santa Barbara Wedding with a Metallic Gold Cake

Rustic Weddings

Any time my eye latches onto a metallic gold wedding cake, you can rest assured I’m in dessert heaven. Greta and John’s wedding had one of the best metallic cakes we’ve seen yet, put together by the incredible Decadence Fine Cakes & Confections. The rest of the wedding was equally beautiful, as you’ll see from the fine work of vendors Linda Arredondo Photography, Percy Sales Events, and Your Image Floral Design, just to name a handful!

From the bride, Greta: From the very minute John got down on one knee and asked for my hand in marriage, I knew I wanted to create a day that represented the love we have for each other and for our friends and family. We wanted our wedding to truly embody the commitment, love, and passion we had for our lives together. Adjectives like amorous, timeless, and sentimental with a touch of vintage charm took hold in our hearts, and from the looks of our wedding, those ideas never left. I was inspired by the antique cameo pin that was my great grandmother’s and adorned my bouquet.

Growing up in Santa Barbara, I had seen my fair share of drop dead gorgeous weddings. I knew that if the dream wedding I had started to formulate in my mind were to ever come to life I had to enlist the services of Percy Sales at Percy Sales Events, an exceptional wedding planner. After only a few site visits, John and I were sold on Firestone Vineyards in Los Olivos, CA to serve as our venue. The sweeping vistas, incredible vineyard views, and breathtaking surroundings captured our interest, but hearing Percy’s vision of hosting our dinner in the winery’s Barrel Room sealed the deal.

Over the next ten months, I became completely entranced by the entire wedding planning process. Every spare moment was spent selecting and perfecting the details. Designing and printing our paper goods, scouring Etsy for the perfect ring bearer pillow and the vintage sterling silver flower girl basket, begging my friend to gift me her calligraphy skills for our wedding invitations, fawning over beautiful blooms that I hoped would be in season in August and crossing my fingers that the Bordeaux canopy love seat I fawned over for months from The Tent Merchant was available. Family and friends collected over 150 empty wine bottles that my mother hand painted metallic gold to serve as candle holders for our feasting table. Just as the old saying goes, “it takes a village to raise a child,” same holds true for weddings!

When reflecting back on our wedding day, the only words that comes to mind to describe the experience is exquisite, eloquent, and awe inspiring. Everything from the calming of the breeze as I made my way down the aisle, the delicious meal served to our guests at the feasting table, to the perfectly placed floral arrangements, the metallic gold three-layer cake, and the dance floor that was jam packed all night, all fell perfectly into place coming together flawlessly. It was without a doubt, the most beautiful, memorable, and amazing day of our lives!
