Brooklyn Botanical Gardens Wedding

Bohemian Weddings

AGAiMAGES

Two striking brides, a reception in a botanical garden, storybook-perfect images from AGAiMAGES: all of these make this Brooklyn wedding one of our all-time faves! Anja and Kellye’s wedding day was full of lush red flowers from Peartree Flowers, impeccable style, and last-minute lucky weather. Let’s hear it for the newlyweds!

From the photographer, AGAiMAGES: Anja and Kellye really wanted their ceremony to be outside, but because the North East is pretty unpredictable in the fall, it was all up in the air. However, on their wedding day, beautiful soft clouds gave the best possible light and they could have their dream ceremony outside in the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens. The emotional and beautiful ceremony that made most if not all guests’ eyes tear up followed by afternoon reception in the Palm house.

From the bride Kellye: Brooklyn, New York is our city of love. We had our first dates in Park Slope and Coney Island. We spent weekends flopped on blankets in Prospect Park and bar-hopping in Williamsburg. We moved in together in Prospect Heights and built our life. We wanted our wedding to pull from that sense of place. The natural beauty of Brooklyn’s parks, the comfort of its classic Brownstone-lined streets, the hip edginess of its diverse thoughts, creativity and people.

We wanted to bring all the beauty of Brooklyn and autumn to our guests. So we looked for inspiration regarding colors in the fall foliage. For flowers we drew on the natural setting of the park with arrangements that were luscious and dramatic, but not too ornate or manicured. Food consisted of delicious favorites using local ingredients. We wanted the photography to be candid and capture the natural surroundings and raw emotions of the day, which it did perfectly!

We wanted everyone enjoy some elegance and celebrate, but also keep things simple enough that all was pleasurable and at ease. For us, it was a perfect day.

Chic Brooklyn Wedding

I’ll always have a soft spot in my heart for Brooklyn, and this wedding straight from AGAiMAGES reminds me why I’ll always be in love with its relaxed, chic charm. Of course, it doesn’t hurt that The Green Building is one of my all-time favorite venues! And how great is bride Laura’s über-sleek gown from Lovely Bridal Shop?

From the photographers, Aga and Marcin of AGAiMAGES: Laura and Greg live in and adore Brooklyn. It’s a no-brainier that they picked their wedding to happen in this oh so New York borough. From the location to the decor; everything was carefully chosen to compliment their relaxed, rustic, homey Brooklyn lifestyle. The Green Building is an amazing location with brick walls, wood and low hung chandeliers with a bit of industrial feel to it. Laura soft, feminine dress from The Lovely Bridal Shop was accented by beautiful flowers. Due to the fact that both Laura and Greg are in the food industry; this part was important to them. Laura being a pastry chef; instead of one big wedding cake, ordered five cakes in various amazing and wicked flavors such as pistachio with rosewater butter-cream and fresh raspberries!

Backyard Rhode Island Wedding

Garden Weddings

This wedding has everything that makes our hearts skip a beat: one couple clearly in love, arrangements filled with wildflowers, and the most adorable little flower girls you’ll ever see, all masterfully captured by AGA iMAGES. We just can’t help but stare at Kateri’s gorgeous gown. Can we unanimously agree that it’s gorg?

From the bride, Kateri: The ceremony took place in one of the pastures, and was originally supposed to be open air. After checking the forecast several days before the wedding, we made the decision to rent a small tent for the area. It rained on our day, so that was one of the best last-minute decisions we made. We had tons of ivory candles in mason jars along the aisle and throughout and it felt really cozy and sweet under the tent surrounded by the people we love. We borrowed an antique carriage, that was basically falling apart, from an adorable old farmer and used it as a backdrop. Our friend played acoustic guitar. We had an amazing woman as our officiant who included our family and friends in the service. It all felt so personal and so warm.

I knew that I didn’t want the typical wedding fare, so my mom and I planned the menu based on the food that Dan and I love. We went with comfort foods, mostly all recipes from Ina Garten. It’s not the easiest thing to find a caterer that will make specific recipes from a customized menu! My mom made the decision to make all the food herself (she’s crazy! and an amazing cook!) and to hire my aunt who is a catering manager to handle all the details. My dad is a baker, and he made the delicious filled cupcakes, along with chocolate pudding, apple crisp, and chocolate chip cookies! Our friends own a bar, the Malted Barley, and they provided the alcohol and beer.

We went for a rustic farm theme, with antique lace accents and lots of natural wood and burlap. We mixed in some of our own antique furniture and linens, which made it feel very intimate… like an extension of our living room. We rented long, wooden farm tables and adorned them with a handmade, natural linen runner with crochet lace trim. The napkins are actually dishcloths from Ikea. The wooden centerpiece boxes were designed by me, and made by a dear family friend, who also happens to be a master carpenter. He also made the huge wooden frames for the chalkboard seating chart and menu. He sawed and hammered, and I painted and stained.

I wanted the flowers at our wedding to look like things that were picked from the property, unfussy and natural. A lot of my requests were actually for weeds, like Queen Anne’s Lace, tansy, and goldenrod. Our florist worked with my milk glass collection, and made beautiful arrangements for the bar and food tables. My sister in law, Julia, is an amazing artist and craftswoman. She used a wood burner to burn all the signage for our day onto old barn wood that was lying around our property.

Our band was awesome! They were so happy to be playing and singing their hearts out for a very wild crowd! We loved seeing all of our family and friends together in the same place, celebrating life and love. We also needed to have our handsome bulldog Reggie right there with us the entire time! The day left us feeling very blessed to have so many helpful and talented people surrounding us, making it all possible… and so much fun! And the best part is, it all happened at HOME!
