Sweet Handmade Dress

Vince and Amanda’s Vancouver wedding by Ophelia Photography was a light-hearted bash filled with lots of color and personal touches. My favorite personal touch has to be Amanda’s darling dress. It was handmade by her mother, and I think it turned out beautifully!

More from the bride, Amanda:

Vince and I wanted something very Alice in Wonderland tea party/50’s garden party/fairytale. Stylish and somewhat traditional but still very colorful and non-formal. We wanted everyone to have a really good time and share in the excitement we felt!

 Vintage Wedding Dress

Our ceremony location was the Minoru chapel in Richmond BC. This place is just cute as anything! We had wanted to get married outside, but because we live in Vancouver you can never predict the rain (and there is a LOT of it in Vancouver). So we chose this adorable little chapel.

 Tattooed Rock 'n Roll wedding

I’m proud to say that my Mom made my dress! I designed what I wanted and she made it come to life. I had looked everywhere for what I wanted but couldn’t. Thankfully my Mom has been making so many of my clothes since I was young and she did such a fantastic job on my wedding dress! It was also so great to have something so personalized. It meant the world to me!

For our wedding cake we didn’t want traditional wedding cake because… well.. have you eaten traditional wedding cake? Yuck! We both love the mousse cakes from the Chinese bakery’s around town so we bought 3 different shapes/types of cakes. We borrowed a cake tray from a friend and decorated it with fake birds and butterflies. It was so colorful matching our theme and even more delicious!

 Vintage 50's Wedding

I am all for the DIY, but know your limit!! I’m extremely easy going and still managed to feel the stress of taking too many things on myself. Biggest example was that I had refused to have my family set up my reception hall by themselves. I wanted to be there to help. Of course everything was not happening right on time and I managed to get back to the hotel with about half an hour to get ready for the wedding itself. Lucky for me I was far too excited about getting married to get too stressed out. But I can see how a lot of woman would be flipping out. Know your limit!

I actually haven’t been affected by a total stranger’s wedding pictures this much in a long time…something about the vintage-ness of it all brought a tear to my eye. Thank you, thank you, thank you for sharing this.

Do you interest to make my wedding dress and my fiance’s?

Our wedding will be held in summer 2012 at a beach

So, I want to have a simple, short white skirt with layers.

and my fiance will dress on white shorts and short pants on white

So, we both want to wear white, and short with soft materials
