1920s Inspired Wedding II

If you are looking for a gorgeous, strikingly chic vintage wedding, then today is your day. Earlier we showed you part I of Victoria and Graeme’s 1920s inspired wedding, and now we’re back to show you the reception and their portraits. Oh my, their portraits… Big thanks to Simon Fazackarley for sharing their wedding with us! When I didn’t think this wedding could be any more amazing, Victoria tells me they walked down the aisle to David Bowie’s Heroes. Shut. the. door.

From the bride: We were going for a vintage summer picnic, very relaxed and informal with plenty of champagne and cocktails with home made elderflower cordial! It was very DIY, I made most of the decorations myself (with a little help from Graeme and other friends and family). There was no particular colour theme, though I tried to stick to more muted pastel colours.

We ignored tradition and combined the wedding cake and dessert into one. And instead of spending a fortune on a shop made wedding cake I asked all our friends to bring along a cake or dessert to contribute to the cake buffet. My sister in law stayed up the night before making hundreds of profiteroles and I spent the day before my wedding baking (it was surprisingly relaxing) I ended up making three cakes – courgette, elderflower and strawberry shortcake.

Advice from the bride: Don’t worry about flouting tradition and doing things the way you want. We didn’t have a traditional wedding cake cutting. We walked down the aisle as man and wife to David Bowie’s Heroes. We wrote our own kooky vows and we spent our first night as man and wife in a tent. Just have fun, enjoy yourselves and take everyone else along for the ride! The day will go so quickly, so make sure you sit back and take it all in once in a while.
