Outdoors Wedding in Lilyvale, Australia

As we wave goodbye to summer, our Australian friends welcome sunny days and a season filled with beautiful weddings. Tealily Photography shot Laura and Simon’s wedding at Stanwell Park, near Sydney. The bride skipped having a traditional white gown and opted for this gorgeous number with yellow accents that fit their wedding like a glove.

From Laura:The theme for the styling of the wedding came from DIY ideas and my love for all things vintage. It wasn’t a conscious decision to have a particular color scheme, but from the detail on my dress and it being Simon’s favorite color, the yellow evolved into a theme of the day. My family, close friends and myself spent months searching through second hand stores, collecting vintage vases, ornaments, glass jars and bottles for the venue decor. Food is a love of ours so we also collected glass domes, decorative trays and cheeseboards to make our own cheese bar for guests to enjoy pre-dinner. Glass jars and cakes stands were put together for a “yellow” inspired dessert table with ruffle cakes, cupcakes, macaroons and lollies.

The venue decor was setup by two of my amazing, creative friends. They also put together the bouquets, button holes and venue flowers that we purchased at a wholesaler. We had so much help from friends and family… making bunting, bottling home made lemonade, painting signs and potting succulents. Having everybody involved made the whole day feel very personal

Simon’s love of music and literature naturally had him hand-pick all the music for the day and the readings for the ceremony. “Benediction of the Apaches” and “A Bride Song- Christina Rossetti” were read by two of our very close friends. We had a simple, short ceremony under a large leafless tree where we read our own vows to each other.
