Shabby Chic Canadian Wedding

Shabby Chic Canadian Wedding

Sophie, the bride, sent over her wedding to share with you all and it is so gorgeous! A really cool fact that I love: both the bride’s sister’s band and the groom’s band played at the reception! Many gracious thanks to Evan McMaster for the wonderful photographs!

From the stylish bride, Sophie: We wanted a very relaxed feeling something that felt like a family picnic. The style we aimed for was vintage meets shabby chic.

We didn’t have a color scheme per se but we were sticking with creamy colors like ivory, peach, light seafoam green, those types of colors. There were lots of DIY projects for our wedding, we made two large monogrammed letters (S for Sophie and L for Laurent) that hung from two large barn doors; we made all of the bridesmaids bouquets; we also made all the utensil packages.

We also made the bunting banner that hung behind the head table; we made all the flower arrangements on the tables; we made the photobooth sign; all the cakes on all the tables were homemade by different friends and family; our wedding cake was made by one of my best friends; the table markers were another DIY… the list goes on.

  • Yay! Somewhere relatively close to my home in St. John’s, Newfoundland! Congrats to the couple, especially for making their day look amazing – I know how hard it can be in a smaller Atlantic Canadian city where resources are uber-limited. What an inspiration!

  • This wedding is so beautiful, the DIY projects turned out wonderful! Great photography, thanks for the post!

  • The rustic barn setting makes for a beautiful backdrop, especially with those flowers in lovely shades of pink! And the hats, did I mention how great those hats are?! <3

  • Hello Sophie,

My name is Melanie and I am thinking of getting married at “the music barn”. I am from New Brunswick but live in Calgary. I have a few questions I would like to ask you. I could send you my email or you send me yours….not sure how to do it via this website, but its worth a try!

    Thanks for your time,

    Melanie
