Seasonal Autumn Wedding in New England

Oh dear readers, just wait until you catch a glimpse of the incredible floral design by Whim Events in this New England wedding that Nicole Baas Photography captured. Bride Audrena gave her florist a few key words to describe her vision, including lush, moody, and texture (perfect for fall or winter, right?).

From the bride, Audrena: The love story of Tim and I started fifteen years ago when I was fourteen and Tim was seventeen and we were both working together at the small local bakery. We both had very large teenage crushes but it wouldn’t be until about 10 years later that we reconnected and discovered we were living right down the street from one another in Boston! Our friendship blossomed into something more one day when I was sick and Tim came over with tons of goodies to fast forward my recovery and I just knew in that moment that he would always be the person by my side to do whatever he could to take care of me. One of the most surreal moments of our wedding day was cutting our beautiful cake that was provided by the same bakery where it all began! For our wedding I envisioned a romantic and elegant yet intimate and wildly fun night with the people we love and cherish. I am a hopeless romantic and am so in love with love and wanted to share those feelings with our guests and make them all leave our wedding wanting to go home and make babies!

Flower recipe: Florals were an extremely important aspect of the wedding decor to me. The wonderful women of Whim Events knew the key words for florals were “lush” and “moody” and “texture.” Roses, hanging amaranthus, Dahlias, Coxcomb, Protea, and even Pomegranates were use to create the most gorgeous flower arrangements of my dreams! When my bouquet was unveiled to me I couldn’t help but burst into tears, it was more beautiful than I could have ever imagined and I am still dreaming of the gorgeous floral arrangements Whim created throughout our ceremony and reception. One of my favorite moments was swaying in the middle of the room with my new husband and him leaning down and gushing into my ear about how beautiful everything looked.

I wanted our guests to feel surrounded by warmth and love and to feel as if they were dropped right into a page of a story book romance. We used warm reds, rich golds, lush greens and moody pinks to create our own enchanted world. My now husband, Tim, mounted frames I found at Crompton collective, a local antique market place, onto cork boards and the ladies of Whim Events added the moss and they became our escort card holders. I spent months collecting the vintage books and love themed magazines and vintage trays that were used throughout our venue. I typed love poems for each table to really keep the feeling of romance flowing throughout the night. My mom graciously gifted us her brightly colored vintage vase collection which were used during our cocktail hour.

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? Make sure when hiring vendors you create a dream team for yourself. Go with your gut and hire the people who get who you are as a couple and what envision for your big day. Natalie and Moira of Whim Events took every last detail I had floating around in my whimsical mind and using items I spent months and months collecting, helped create the gorgeous, moody and lush surroundings we wanted. I hired a photographer I knew I could trust capture the moments I would want to look back on which helped us really be in the moment with each other and our friends and family the day of the wedding. We knew we didn’t want a stuffy, boring ceremony and I was lucky to meet our officiant Amanda Brown at a small wedding fair and I am very grateful for it. Amanda brought our friends and family right into our love story through her engaging storytelling and she created a very personalized and touching ceremony. There was hardly a dry eye in the house in-between bouts of laughter! After dinner our DJ and old friend, Jon Strader got everyone up and dancing and kept them on that dance floor until the very end of the night! we knew we wanted a killer dance party with friends and family and that we certainly had! It is very easy to get consumed by all the aspects of wedding planning but having faith in my vendors allowed me to take the breathers I needed, trust that everything would come together, and refocus on what was truly important- marrying the love of my life and having a hell of a dance party after!
