Whimsical Travel Wedding

We always get a little giddy when Apryl Ann Photography pops by, always bringing in one gorgeous wedding after the other. This whimsical soiree is full of handmade touches, representing the groom’s job as a Naval Aviator and the long distance relationship between him and his bride, Christy. So to celebrate their numerous letters across the globe, they wanted to have travel and correspondence elements incorporated in their wedding.

Christy and Ryan are high school sweethearts about to embark on a life of travel and far-away correspondence due to the groom’s job as a Naval Aviator. Their life will be filled with postcards, letters and airplanes, all of which were apparent at their travel themed wedding on June 9, 2012. The bride and groom are both old souls, and vintage touches were spotted throughout the ceremony and reception.

The groom proposed at Hickory Street Annex, which made it easy to decide on a wedding reception venue. Both are Dallas natives and wanted to be married close to their families. The bride and groom were married at East Dallas Christian Church where the bride’s parents and grandparents were both married. Reception followed at Hickory Street Annex.

The bride has worked as an assistant wedding planner in both Florida and Oklahoma and planned her own wedding down to every detail. Since she was planning the wedding from afar, spreadsheets quickly became her new best friend. The couple moved twice during their engagement, but thankfully, the planning process was both smooth and fun. It was easy to find great vendors that all worked well together after stumbling upon Apryl Ann Photography and The Bell Jar.

Paper flowers and stationery were the showstoppers of the wedding. The bride worked hand-in-hand with ULuckyGirl to create the custom wedding suite including an invitation booklet, stationery set favors, Passport photo books and place card wooden airplanes. The bride’s love of handmade goodies and vintage objects were seen throughout the décor. Etsy was a big contributor at the wedding- the bride purchased hundreds of handmade flowers, the veil and painted TOMS shoes from Etsy.com.
