Western Paso Robles Wedding

Precious, precious, precious — this wedding from Stacey Ramsey is that and so much more. Be sure to keep an eye pealed for Rachel and Jon’s wedding video — which is not only incredible, but also edited by the bride and her husband, who own The Sunday Saloon Cinematography.

From the bride, Rachel: Jon and I both knew we wanted our wedding to have a free-spirited vibe where our guests could relax, play and share in our love for the day. My parent’s Paso Robles home was the perfect spot for this. Their beautiful property with it’s eclectic mix of rose gardens, olive tree orchards and a rustic country setting was the perfect background to reflect our style. We were very influenced by the 1969 movie, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (with Robert Redford and Paul Newman) and we loved the stylized 1970’s take on a Victorian/western period film. We tried to evoke that feeling by mixing elegant antique china with rustic western elements and a dose of 70’s kitsch.

Any advice for brides planning their weddings now? Try to do as many DIY projects as you can handle…they help you save money and are so much fun! Nothing adds character and personality to your wedding like hand made details. We created little mason jar lanterns with copper wire and covered jars with vintage lace for candle holders. Some of my favorite evenings before our wedding were staying up watching movies and making lanterns with Jon and my sister. 🙂

Also, if you can, try to make your wedding a weekend celebration. Since our wedding was a bit of a destination for our guests (most coming from San Jose, CA), we invited them to go on a wine tasting tour the day before our wedding. We rented a trolley car to take us around Paso Robles and this was the perfect way to kick start the celebration, stress-free. I wouldn’t have traded this experience with all of our friends and family for the world!

Wedding Music:
Since Jon is an amazing singer/songwriter and music has always been a close tie between the two of us throughout our relationship, we literally hand picked every song that played during our wedding. We chose a playlist of songs both meaningful and reflective of the style of our wedding… a lot of folk, old country and bluegrass tunes. The music during our processional was live and we chose Tom Petty’s “Angel Dream”. For our first dance we had Hurricane Roses play their rendition of Ryan Adams’ “Dirty Rain.”

Watch their sweet video by Matt Baca and The Sunday Saloon Cinematography:

From Stacey Ramsey: Rachel and Jonathan put so much thought into all the eclectic details, from handblown antique vases (all different from another), vintage brass, to the GORGEOUS garden variety floral displays, nothing was overlooked. Each guest was seated in front of a different hand painted victorian plate with a horseshoe favor on each. Chandeliers hung from garden bushes, mushroom stools from old tree trunks, and the bride insisted on feeding the farm goats in her gorgeous wedding gown!
