Sweet Western Australia Wedding

How oh how can we resist a summer Australian wedding? It’s absolutely not possible, especially when the talented Natasja Kremers and Natural Art by Rebecca Grace join together to create something especially beautiful. Peta and Julien’s wedding day was fun and relaxed while maintaining an air of sophistication – no small feat if you ask me. Let’s jump right in!

From the bride, Peta: Relaxed, summery, elegant and fun. Julien is French so wanted to integrate this into the ceremony and reception. We had a reading at the ceremony said in both French and English and Julien’s family brought French Sauternes (dessert wine) over which we served with the cheese/dessert course. More than anything we wanted people to have a few drinks, relax, dance and enjoy the night.

We didn’t have a colour scheme. The venue we chose was beautiful and didn’t need much decoration and I didn’t want to detract from the amazing views of the vineyard. I was conscious that the venue was very open, modern and with lost of neutral colours. I wanted to get away from traditional white ‘everything’ so chose to have each of our guest tables decorated with lots of vases of different flowers of the same colour so we had one blue/mauve, one peach, one yellow, one pink and the bridal table was decorated with different white flowers. The venue was decorated with large floor lanterns as well as hanging lanterns and tea light candles to warm up the room a bit. We didn’t stick to a strict theme, rather just chose things that we liked! We wanted to keep things simple to keep the atmosphere relaxed.

Julien is from the southwest of France from the Basque country, so we had a Basque table runner on our signing table and under our wedding cake. Our bonbonnieres were small boxes made from brown cardboard. Julien’s family brought bags of lollies over from France so we filled the bags with these as bonbonnieres. These doubled as place cards and I did the menus myself to match. Our floral arrangements were all different sorts of flowers, matched by colour. Rebecca Grace did the most amazing job! For our ceremony, I had bunches of gypsophila tied to the chairs to line the aisle as well as large bucket of gypsophila by the signing table. I wasn’t too specific about flower types with our florist. I gave her ideas as to what I wanted things to look like and left it up to her.
