Philadelphia Terrain Wedding

I have so much love for this darling wedding and its intimate size — a mere 18 guests of utmost importance to the bride and groom. Ash Imagery captured Melissa and her new husband’s day to perfection at Pennsylvania’s Terrain, which handled both the gorgeous scenery and provided an 8-course meal for guests. Can you think of anywhere dreamier to be married?

From the bride, Melissa: For our wedding we wanted our immediate family to celebrate, laugh, and witness our union at a unique location; Terrain at Styler’s for an intimate (18 people) family wedding. It was important to us to make sure we involved our family in the wedding. The bride’s son, Paris, was ring bearer and was presented with a family necklace during the ceremony. Both Mothers did a reading and we were married by the groom’s father (who happens to be a Lutheran Minister). The ‘father of the bride’ performed the toast during our decadent, local and sustainable 8-course meal, that was served in Terrain’s Greenhouse cafe. The meal was lovingly cooked by Chef Keith Rudolf of Terrain’s Garden Cafe. Cupcakes & s’mores followed the meal. The six young adult guests (ranging in age from 10-14) loved unwinding and hanging out by the fire pit after the long meal.

Style-wise we leaned on the gorgeous, rustic and eclectic style that is Terrain. I wore a Grecian, Nicole Miller (on sale for $400!) that was as comfortable as a nightgown, sparkly platinum flat sandals and the Free People headband (also on sale!) was very bohemian. The tone was bohemian/special occasion. Hans wore earth tones and my son wore a straw fedora and a linen suit. The 18 person double table was an arrangement of moss, flower, burlap, pebbles and candles provided by Terrain. Not-so-new candles were scattered around the Greenhouse and were also provided by Terrain. DIY, the invitations were made by Nancy Mueller (the bride’s Mother-in-law) and she made the paper for the invites as well. We put the invites into Kinfolk Magazine (which was perfect to explain the tone of our gathering) and then mailed the package to each family member.

We were married under two Thai doors in the middle of Terrains outdoor garden center. There was no need to decorate, the store’s merchandise was a floral paradise. I did not want to hold flowers and instead, I entered the ceremony with my future husband in hand.
