Hickory Street Annex Wedding

Stephanie and Glenn’s wedding is a Dallas dream come true: beautiful flower design, some rustic chic and naturally some plain old glamour thrown in. No detail was left out here thanks to the A-team talents of floral designers Bows & Arrows, stylists After Yes Weddings, and Nine Photography behind the camera. Make sure you don’t miss the show-stopping cake from Sugar Bee Sweets!

From the bride, Stephanie: From the beginning, we knew we wanted our wedding to feel romantic and relaxed with a little glitz and glamour sprinkled in. Our families envisioned something traditional, and we wanted something a little more unique. We tried to create a day that really captured both aesthetics. Our venue, Hickory Street Annex, was a perfect location for our reception. It is a blank palette that can be transformed into everything you envisioned for your day. We used cafe lights and chandeliers to give the rustic venue, the soft, romantic feel we were going for. Ultimately, we wanted the day to feel like a big party celebrating the start of our lives together, and I think we accomplished just that.

Since we had a spring wedding, I decided to go with a palette of pastels. Our official colors were mint, peach, rose and gold. I focused on Mint/Peach/Gold throughout our decor and used the flowers to bring in the rosy-pink color. After scouring Pinterest, wedding blogs, and magazines, I had a massive list of DIY projects I wanted to take on. I ended up editing it down to the hand full of projects I knew wouldn’t stress me out too much and that I could actually complete! Some of my DIY projects included: streamer curtain backdrops for the head table, cake table, and Instax photo guest book area; I designed/created chalkboard-inspired drink menus for each side of the bar; signs for the guest book table and the glow stick table; hanging sign behind the cake table; peach colored mason jars to hold the bouquets; biscotti favors with custom labels (with the help of my Grandma); hanging ribbon/sequin escort card display.

One of my favorite memories from my wedding day was getting to sneak a few minutes alone with Glenn to eat dinner together. It was nice to just take a deep breath and be in the moment with each other. Another favorite would have to be all of the speeches. The best men were on point, my sister was sweet but also hilarious, and my dad’s speech was perfect. Last but not least, I loved being able to hang out with my mom, sister and friends at the hotel while we got ready for the wedding. The day couldn’t have been more perfect.

What advice do you have, if any, for brides planning their wedding day now? I think if I could go back and give myself any advice, it would be to enjoy every moment of the process… even the stressful ones. The time will fly by, so be present in every moment. And when you get stressed, just concentrate on all of the exciting new adventures ahead of you and your guy… or the relaxing honeymoon you are about to take! 🙂
