Handcrafted Oregon Wedding

Just you wait until you set your eyes on Brittany and Calen’s ceremony site. With oversized paper flowers flanking the ceremony altar and decorating the reception as well, it’s the perfect touch of whimsy to make this Oregon wedding a dream come true. Thanks Tara Francis Photography for sharing your images with us!

From the bride, Brittany: We wanted a wedding that was fairly laid back with our personal touches felt throughout the ceremony and reception. The style of the wedding was rustic with a touch of whimsy.

Adjectives that best describe our wedding include whimsical, rustic, crafty, fun, and laid back. The color scheme included yellow, grey and white. My mom was a huge part of the artistic and hand-crafted nature of this wedding. She helped my vision come to reality with the large tissue paper flowers, lace details, programs and arbor. We had many DIY parties where family and friends would come over to help with these details.

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? My biggest piece of advice is that it is never too early to start preparing, especially if you want a hand-crafted wedding. Calen and I had two years to plan and it was great to start early because it was here before we knew it. My other piece of advice is to recruit help from people close to you. We have many talented friends and family members who helped with everything from the crafting to DJ’ing. It added a personal touch to our wedding and I could not thank everyone enough.

From the photographer, Tara: Brittany and Calen got married on Calen’s family private property out in Rogue River, OR. During that time there were wild fires everywhere. Days before roads were closed and warnings to stay indoors due to the smoke. However, it turned out on the day of the wedding the roads were open and the air quality was not bad. In the distance you could see the smoke haze.

The wedding details were abundant. Huge paper flowers were everywhere. On the signs. On the grass and on the gorgeous twig arbor. Hand dyed quits covered the hay bales. A big canoe is where the guests put their gifts and the cards went into the suitcase which was also lined with hand dyed fabric. The invitation suite was designed by Brittany’s mother and even included Calen’s family dogs who were running around during the wedding and all three had yellow bandanas on. The colors were yellow, white and grey accents. The bride and maid of honor wore baby breath flower crowns. The food fit the theme and was cooked in huge cast iron pots. The desert table was a small cake, cupcakes from the Sassy Cupcake and different pies that family members had baked. Mismatched pie plates were stacked on the table. There were parasols and fans for the guests. The reception was strung with lights and the tables were decorated with wild yellow flowers in various glass jars with hand dyed doilies. There was a photo booth with various props to dress up in and yellow paper background. The guests drank their beers out of glass jars with the couples monograms dangling from the handles.
