Romantic Oregon Riverside Wedding

Romantic Oregon Riverside Wedding

From the beginning, Kathleen and Noel knew they wanted an intimate wedding that reflected their love for the outdoors. I’d say they hit the nail on the head! Their riverside nuptials in Oregon were as romantic as it gets. Paige Jones Photography was there to capture every special detail and moment for all of us to enjoy.

From the bride, Kathleen: Noel and I met through a mutual friend in college. We dated and traveled together for four years before Noel proposed with a original setting 1910 ring that his great grandmother wore as her wedding ring, and has been passed down to each generation in his family. We set out to create a wedding that felt warm, intimate and romantic. We wanted to celebrate our love for the outdoors and our own hometowns. I’m from a small town in Alaska and Noel is from Oregon. We started months in advance by planting a 900-foot flower path that led from the reception space to the riverfront ceremony! Lining the pathway to the river were bachelor buttons, larkspur and lisianthus.

I designed a custom dress top for the ceremony and a 12-foot veil, both trimmed with French Chantilly lace. My mother hand stitched “NK” into my dress and the pocket of Noel’s suit for ‘something blue.’ My handkerchief was hand-stitched by my great-grandmother, and we gave handkerchiefs with hand-stitched notes to each of our parents and grandparents.

As a surprise, my father anchored his sailboat off the shore of the ceremony site and flew Alaska and Oregon’s flags from the mast, a tribute to our home states. Noel’s father is a winemaker and we asked him to prepare a wine pairing for the evening. Guests signed a six liter wine bottle that Noel’s father made the year Noel was born, with the intention of opening it on his wedding day.

We both agree one of our favorite memories was our first dance, to “You Send Me” by Otis Redding – Noel figured out all sorts of dips and spins for our first dance, and we actually hit all the moves!

My advice to other brides is to find vendors who share your style and vision, and have all your DIY projects done a month in advance of the wedding. All the planning and DIY’ing is absolutely worth it.
