Relaxed Philadelphia Wedding

Relaxed Philadelphia Wedding

Kim and Matt’s wedding, sent over by Carina and Amanda of Love Me Do Photography, was a real community effort. Friends and family came together to help create an awesome bash full of DIY goodness! The flowers came from their church’s urban farm and 13 friends were hand picked to prepare the food. With all this teamwork, the result was an absolutely beautiful and intimate wedding!

More from the bride, Kim: We generally wanted our wedding to feel vintage and rustic, without feeling “kitchy”. We wanted a relaxed and casual environment, with everyone being comfortable in their own skin. We originally wanted the ceremony and reception outside, but couldn’t afford it. So we brought the outside in, with lots of flowers, branches, ivy, etc.

Hipster wedding

We had our ceremony and reception in the same location. Circle of Hope church in South Philadelphia, PA. Matt and I both go to the congregation in North Philly. As members of the church, it was very inexpensive to have the wedding here.

Most of our wedding was DIY. Our friends and community are a multi-faceted, multi-talented group of people.

Our church has an urban farm up in North Philadelphia. We planted the flowers there in the spring, and gathered them a few days before the wedding.

Don’t be afraid to ask for help. People don’t know what needs to be done and will assume it’s taken care of unless you ask. Also, expect things to not go completely the way you want them to. Be okay with that. And be nice.

  • I am sooo into tiered wedding gowns lately, so you can imagine how much I appreciate this gorgeous number. I love how awesomely offbeat these two are! Gorgeous!

  • I love the groomsmens outfits! I would love to know where they got them from!

  • LOVE their attire!! So perfectly them…and such a cute couple! And the chalk is a wonderful idea. Lots of pretty little details that I love!

  • Love this! Her dress is beautiful and I love that it’s modern, but still catches that vintage feel with the decor and groomsmen.

  • I have to say that the whole process of DIY with people you trust is awesome! It just makes it more special when you look into the faces of people you love who also took the time and effort to contribute something special. It really makes me feel like the day is a celebration for everyone!

  • I’m not a HUGE fan of the aesthetics, but she is such a gorgeous bride! I love her hair and the chalk. They look like a good couple.

  • Matt here (Mr. Groom). Kelsey – my groomsmen all got their outfits on their own. I told them to get brown slacks, a cream colored shirt, brown suspenders, and a brown ivy cap. While there were slight variations this helped give them individual character. I got them all thrift store striped ties.
