Rancho Palos Verdes Wedding

Thanks to its theme, this wedding at Point Vicente Interpretive Center was dubbed a “Whale of a Wedding” — how precious is that? Drawing inspiration from the wedding venue, which is an ideal spot for whale-watching, MAM Designs and FLEURLUX set to work designing an elegant affair full of pastels, whimsy, and charm. Thanks to Beaux Arts Photographie for sharing your images!

From the couple, Aaron and Stacy: The ceremony took place at Wayfarer’s Chapel in Rancho Palos Verdes. We loved how it’s a glass chapel nestled in between the ocean and hills. We loved being surrounded by the people we love as we got married. I walked down the aisle to Over The Rainbow. Our rings were both custom made by James Christian Metalsmith Jewelry. We both wanted something unique, sustainable and made in the US. The reception took place at Point Vicente Interpretive Center in Rancho Palos Verdes. We loved that it’s a beautiful public space and whale research center with incredible views. We brought in Greek, Italian and Asian food trucks to help keep things casual and fun. We had a Photo Booth where guests could take instant keepsakes. My good friend May Toledo put together an amazing dessert buffet and we brought in a small cake and extra treats from Sweet & Saucy shop in Long Beach, CA along with treats from LA’s Buttermilk Truck. If guests got cold, they could grab a pashmina to wear and take home.

It was important for the day to reflect us and not be cookie-cutter. We wanted the day to be fun, casual, intimate and filled with love and beauty. We wanted our closest friends and family to be there. Great locations, great food, great desserts, great music and great people. What more could you ask for? Matiana Mitchell is an extraordinary wedding coordinator. My wife and I recommend her without reservation. Matiana is a true professional, and she possesses the type of creative genius, DIY know-how, and attention to detail that made our wedding day as unique as we are. She effortlessly understood our ideas and executed them better than we could have ever imagined. Her hard work gave us a gorgeous, stress-free wedding day.

From the event planner, Matiana Mitchell of MAM Designs: The details were all one of a kind and custom. With the ‘whale of a wedding’ theme in full swing, the guests were handed Whale flags stating the days itinerary. Upon arriving at the reception they came to find there names and seating arrangements on the unique escort station with a custom hand made coral backdrop. Each guests name was written in calligraphy on there personal whale. Each table was unique, and every centerpiece different. Some details from the day were hand dyed table cloths, hand dyed place mats, a handmade coral escort card backdrop, custom painted bamboo cutlery, full sweets bar spread, custom cake and dessert table, sweetheart table backdrop, custom made bar and much much more.
