Pink San Francisco Christmas Wedding

If you’re a fan of pink, then just settle right in and prepare yourself for this wonder from The Goodness! Erica and Andrew’s wedding is a shining example of all things pink and sparkly with heaping touches of Mexican tradition. Pair up all these beauties with crafty and bright paper goods from The Goodness, and you’ve got a Christmas wedding we’re just wild about!

From the bride, Erica: Andrew and I had been together for 11 years before we married and were thrilled to be making it official. In the Mexican culture weddings are a major rite of passage, so getting those Catholic and Mexican parts of the ceremony right was critical. Our mass included the lasso (mine was pink, of course), the arras (coins), and the bouquet to the Virgin Mary (which I made).

Andrew and I don’t get to share holidays with all of our family every year (most of my family lives in Los Angeles), so more than anything we wanted to create a wedding weekend that felt like Christmas. The kind we wish we could have every year: church (of course), a huge dinner, dancing, music, and fun. Being the Type A gal that I am and being an Studio Art Major in college I could not help but see our event as one giant meticulously organized art project. Creating an emotional reaction with your audience is the biggest high for an artist, so hearing Ooooh’s and Aaaah’s was paramount. I envisioned a vintage pink Christmas that sparkled and glowed visually and for our guests was delicious, elegant, memorable, fun and most important personal.

San Francisco wedding planning was exciting — the entire city is a photo op; however, as a hands-on kind of person I was afraid I was going to hand over control to a total stranger at some hotel, but we were able to find a location and vendors that helped us keep it personal. We chose the Century Club because we could have the building to ourselves, make it our own, and most importantly choose our own vendors (florist, DJ, caterer, etc). Andrew and I are foodies, it was critical that we choose our own menu and our caterer (a family friend) created a dazzling Christmas menu with OUR favorites. We had an amuse bouche of shrimp and lime sauce, a beet and goat cheese salad, and a duel entry of turkey mashed potatoes steak and faro dressing with cranberry sauce and parsnips. Griselda was fabulous, she even cut beets into the shape of hearts for our “Heart Beets” goat cheese salad. Our cake was a gorgeous and delicious with pink butter cream icing with gold glitter and my parents wedding topper.

Although we wanted a vintage Christmas theme we didn’t want green and red. Pink was our color, the uplighting made our vision come to life and keeping the banquet room door closed during the cocktail hour made for a dramatic reveal for our guest as they Oooh’ed and Aaah’ed while entering the glowing room to Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory song “Pure Imagination.” Our most important choice however had to have been our photographers, The Goodness, who besides being amazing photographers create equally beautiful stationary. They helped elevate our visions from homemade to polished showstoppers, and allowed me to be myself every step of the way. They even created a logo for our wedding which we lovingly plastered on everything from mailing labels, water bottles, to the welcome bags we provided at the hotel.

San Francisco can get foggy all year long and in December forgetaboutit! But on December 3, 2011 it could not have been more beautiful, sunny clear skies set the stage for a magical day. I walked the aisle with my father to a cantor singing Ave Maria which echoed in the gorgeous and historical church. We were photographed at the Palace of Fine Arts and Crissy Field with the Golden Gate Bridge in the back ground, all places which have been in so many of my childhood memories as well as my memories as a couple. Our families made the day everybit as meaningful, memorable, complete with dance offs and hilarious photo booth pictures. The whole day felt like the most magnificent and lovely Pink Christmas imaginable.

  • It is unusual how few of these pictures have the bride and groom in them. Or guests for that matter. Where is everybody? Or do the chairs look prettier when they are empty? My favorite picture is the last one, where the bride and groom are smiling and look happy.

  • Beautiful details, but I agree – where is everyone? None of the photos featured in this post includes the bride’s gorgeous face! I feel like its getting harder to discern wedding inspiration posts from actual weddings posts. More happy, smiling faces please – it’s what matters most!

    • At the end of each wedding feature, below the last image, there is a link to a photo gallery. You can view more photos in the gallery here:
